Flipper (1995–2000): Season 1, Episode 5 - Kidnapped: Part 1 - full transcript
Flipper is abducted by Keith Ricks' old fraternity brother to serve as the chief entertainment at a new Cuban resort hotel. Ricks and Pam Blondell attempt to sneak into the Caribbean country to rescue the dolphin, but are captured and imprisoned by the Cuban Coast Guard.
Ladies and gentlemen, I have
great pleasure in welcoming you
to our premier luxury hotel.
The opening of the Casa del
Seoul will mark the beginning
of a new era for Puba. Tourists
from Canada and Europe will
once again visit our shores.
Here, they will find food and
accommodations that will rival
anything in the world. Our
rooms will be the finest in our
country. Beef from Argentina,
fresh seafood from local
waters, the best in the
Caribbean,
A dolphin show that will
enchant and mystify young and
old alike. Señor Hernandez,
your English is flawless. As I
love Lucy Rearun's work
miracles.
I hope you bring me good news,
Tyrell. I got a couple irons in
the fire. 2 months, I've been
waiting. I built the pool. I
hired the trainer and all
you'll bring me is irons in the
fire. Trained dolphins are hard
to come by. If you don't have
the proper permits, they're
impossible. You didn't say
impossible when I advance you
$30, 000. Don't worry, I'll
make it happen. Visitors from
around the world will be
descending on us soon. We need
their good favor. We need their
marks, their yen. I can't just
stamp my and make a train
dolphin appear. The feds
regulate every breath they
take. Doesn't care about the
feds. What does El Presidente
have to do with this? He's
taking a personal interest in
our plans. He's coming next
week for a tour. And I would be
crushed to show him an empty
pool. I have been to every
marine park in the Northern
Hemisphere. One week, Tyrell.
Now, you can stand around
making excuses.
You can get me a dolphin.
How'd you teach it that stuff?
Um we didn't teach Floor Eddie.
He does it for fun. But if he
does it for fun, how can we
have to pay you? We've gotta
pay for a chili burger just
like everybody else.
Who's next?
Twenty-eight, 29, Uh Jesse
Porter owes us two bucks. Good.
You can take him out to dinner
then. How was the meaning?
Boring. My uniform itches. You
should have seen me out there
today. It was like I was Dan
Marina. The kids are going nuts
screaming their heads off. Tim
goes for Charlie Fitzgerald
over at Marine Patrol. He was
watching you from his boat. He
thought you guys should know
better. I told him you did. You
just went dumb for the day.
We're only doing it until we
have enough money for the whole
concert. Whole? Mom, there
isn't anything wrong with
Flipper and cool stuff. You're
feeding a wild dolphin. A few
snacks, that's all. That
doesn't matter and you're
encouraging people to do the
same thing. Pretty soon,
Flipper will forget how to fend
for himself because other
people are doing it for him.
Yes, mother. Just promise me
you won't do it again. Oh, of
course, mother. Thank you, son.
Each of these creatures has
unique way of perceiving the
environment, vision, or
eyesight plays a role but the
water is often cloudy and the
visibility poor so animals tend
to compensate the sharks for
example can detect minor
electrical currents down their
lateral line and spotted eagle
ray here they rely heavily upon
their sense of smell and of
course my favorite the dolphin
it has its own built-in sonar
system it's a really simple
question does anybody know what
that system is called Echo
location. Do you know how it
works? The resolution of a
laser if not quite the range.
Dolphins can generate packets
of sound at levels that
nine-inch nails can only dream
of. The echoes bounce back and
tell them exactly what's out
there. We have a well-informed
guest. It's Tyrell Parsons is a
old frat buddy of mine. Wow.
Well, that's pretty much it for
class today. Um you're all
dismissed. Oh, remember,
phytoplankton papers are due
Monday. Monday, okay? Tyrell,
how are you? Fine. Last time I
saw you standing next to an
aquarium, your head was in it.
Nancy Lee Mayat's house senior
year, her dad's place. You
caught Simee's fighting fish in
your teeth, blindfolded. You
know too much about me. I'll
own you some gear. We'll do
some fly fishing and catch up.
I wish I could. I'm on the
clock. Oh, the life of the
tycoon. How many stores do you
have now? None, I sold them
all. I'm out of the tropical
fish business. So now you're
just rolling in the box, huh?
Where is it? Where's the
Porsche, huh, you know? Hey,
I'm not here to fly. Yeah, it's
the opposite. I'm here to offer
a helping hand. Hey, I know
what you're up against.
Government funds being squeezed
for education. Re search
cutbacks. It's getting pretty
rough out there. Hello, See,
now you're scaring me. Now
you're starting to sound like
someone who might write a
check. I am. Think of a number.
I can think of a pretty good
number. $10, 000? That's a
pretty good number. Here's a
catch. Sell me a dolphin, one
that's already trained. It's
for a new business venture.
We're talking dolphin heaven.
Huge natural pool,
state-of-the-art filtration
system, full-time vet. Plenty
to eat. I'm not a dolphin
trader and you know that. Go
talk to Marine Life Park next
door. I already have.
Paperwork's a problem. No,
paperwork is the law. They
want to make sure you're fully
licensed and legitimate. But
you know that I'm legit. I'm
just on a tight schedule. Come
on, Andrew. Really turning up
the heat on this one.
Sorry, Tyrone. I'm not going to
help you with this one. I've
known you a long time, Keith
and I've seen you bend the
rules when it suits your needs.
Come on, man. There's gotta be
a number that works for both of
us. Yeah, there is. One -800
marine fisheries. I don't know
what your deal is here but if
you break the law, I will be
the one to turn you in, frat
brother or no?
Thank you. Yeah. Thank you. No
second day discounts? Sorry.
Okay, we need a volunteer. Who
has something from flipper to
find? Let's see.
You know, that's a pretty cool
bracelet, missus Burford. What
do you say? I'm sorry, Mike.
It's a present for my husband.
Come on, it's no sweat for
Flipper.
Thanks okay guys watch the
bracelet
screw up and missus Burford
will flung me for sure.
Come on.
Can I
My guess isn't funny. Alright,
alright.
You.
Me. No. No.
I
I
Mike, over there.
You're stealing Flipper.
What's good? What's good? Let's
get out of here.
Stand back. Zipper. And you
haven't talked to him since
then? Keith. Yeah, I'm familiar
with the Paradixo Marina.
Right, right. England. Where'd
you get that? One of the kids
had a camera. Uh Kristen, it's
been really helpful, I think.
Um it's been nice talking to
you and I'll see you at the
next reunion. Casa Del Sol,
House of the Soul. House of the
Sun. I knew that. Right. Well,
does it bring any bells? Not to
me but it might to conch.
Conch? Yeah, Jimmy Concella.
He's a fraternity buddies,
Tyrell's best friend. He has a
marina in South Miami. Well,
let's go talk to him. Uh What's
he doing?
Is that needle point? Ricks.
Hey hey. Did you think I'm
sewing? Get off my boat. Look,
we don't want any problems,
right? And I want to have to
ask you again. Wait a minute,
that's not needle point. That's
counting cross stitch. What?
I'm really impressed. I've
never been able to finish one
of these. This is really hard.
Where did you get the pattern?
Oh, I'm in a club with my mom.
Actually, it's not all cross
stitch. I've used a horizontal
tent stitch down the borders
here to give it a. Slow. What
are you laughing at? Nothing.
It it's it's different. Can we
get to the point? We're looking
for Tyrell Parsley. Look, have
you seen him? Maybe I haven't.
Maybe I haven't. Maybe it
doesn't matter. Tyrell
kidnapped a friend of ours.
Kidnapped? It was an animal
friend. It's a dolphin. For a
minute, they had my attention.
Forget Miami. Tyrell's gone.
Oh, come on, Jimmy. It's a big
world out there. Could you just
narrow it down for us a little.
You gave me nothing but grief,
Ricks. Why should I narrow down
anything for you? Narrow it
down for me. I mean, Flipper is
like my best friend in the
whole world and it's my fault
that they took him. Flipper?
That's the silliest thing I
ever heard of. Oh, I don't
know, Jimmy. That's pretty damn
silly. Would you help us? Come
on, please.
I don't know where he went. I
know where he came from, Cuba.
Please tell me that you're
kidding. I swarmed down the
blue boar the other day. He was
passing out Havana's like they
were licorice sticks. Have you
heard of the Castle del Sol?
No, should I? I hope you find
your friend. Thanks. Thanks,
Jimmy. We're not going to leave
him in Cuba. I mean, we're
going to go get him, right?
Tyrell can go in and out of
Cuba because he's Canadian. US
citizens, we can't even visit.
Filter might as well be on the
other side of the moon,
sweetheart.
I
Hi,
I
I thought the idea was to get
trained dolphins, Tyrell. He is
trained. I saw him doing
eight-foot jumps for the kids.
Dolphins, plural. I mean, look
at him. He's all alone. He
needs a companion. I went
through hell and back to get
this one. I'm not going back
there.
Make him do back flips and
you're home free.
Home free.
Good swim. Water's nice.
I wish I could swim all the way
there. No man could do that.
Young or old. All families are
made on dinky little rats.
Homemade boats.
I bet a boat with a real good
engine can make it easy. Half a
day. Sometimes less.
I got a friend who lives over
there. A real good one. Have
you ever told you about Garcia?
No. Will Garcia help us?
Probably. Listen, I've got
almost $115. Darcy wouldn't
take your money. Neither would
I. Listen, I'm not asking you
to go. Who's asking you to ask?
Not me. I mean, I don't need
permission.
If I want to go, I'll go,
right? Nobody could stop you.
I'm going to get Flipper back,
Mike. That's a promise.
I was our new friend. Great.
Quite the performance. Well,
you have to admit Senior
Hernandez, the animal's smart.
What you call smart, I call
disobedient. Gonna give him
some time to get activated.
He'll put on quite a show.
Como? Uh, comfortable like in
home sweet home. We want the
dolphin to feel safe. Oh, I
see. This fish is a human now.
I must be concerned with his
feelings.
From elephants to pan, does
animals get disoriented when
they change environments? Ah,
Tyrell, a man of many talents.
First, you hunt the animals.
Then you become their
psychiatrist. Look, I know what
I saw. This dolphin has a PHD
in tailwalks. My country has
been asleep for nearly half a
century. We don't have ties
with the feelings of a fish. He
is not a fish.
I have splendid news for you
and Presidente wishes to
inspect our hotel in a few
days. I want everything to be
absolute lamente perfecto.
Yeah, yeah, I understand. Do
not allow the fish to steal the
food again. It will perform or
it will die.
I should be going with them.
When are they leaving? Soon,
real soon.
What's the computer for? Oh, I
want to play flight simulator
on the way over. That was a
joke, right? That's a joke,
right? Electronic equipment is
in short supply over there.
Something like this will bring
us a lot of favors. Keith, I
want to go with you. We want to
go with you. Why do you always
have to leave me out of things?
No. But that's not stupid. We
can help. Did you just call me
stupid? She didn't mean stupid.
She meant completely unfair.
Come on, Keith. It was my fault
the Flipper got swiped. Our
fault. What if I get mom to say
yes? She won't. Mom, no, Mike.
It's Cuba. It's not Disney
World or Alabama or the
Bahamas, it's Cuba. I found out
what the Casa del Sol is. It's
a new hotel about 150 miles
outside of Havana. Great,
that'll help a lot. Flippers at
a hotel? You're crazy to go in
alone. You've got a volunteer
right here. Two volunteers. I'm
not going in alone. My friend
Garcia's picking me up in
international walkers. What are
you going to do with the boat?
Drop Anchor and hope she's
there when I get back. Uh I'm
going with you. No, no, no, no,
no. You're an officer in the
United States Navy. You'll be
court minded. Let me come
instead. No. Us. No. I'll stay
in the boat in international
waters. If you get in trouble,
you radio me. I want to get
Flipper back. I'm not going to
take no for an answer. You,
however, are.
You guys load the rest of the
gear on, would you please?
Don't look at me like that.
It's not my fault. No, it's
mine, right? If I didn't know
any better, I'd say food
doesn't matter to him. It's
like he's on a hunger strike.
In order to strike, you have to
be able to think. This guy is
stupid. Speed him a dead
dolphin doesn't do anybody any
good. Go ahead. You forget.
I
Excellent. Make him do it
again.
We're too far out. Uh it's the
rendezvous point. How do you
know? Where did you write the
coordinates down? We don't use
coordinates. What do you use?
Waves? See you at the little
white cap at noon. Don't give
me a hard time, miss. I'm in
the navy but can't keep my
breakfast down. There's Garcia
right there.
You never told me Garcia had a
75 millimeter cannon and a
uniformed crew. What?
So what? They can't do anything
to us. We're an international
workers. We might have drifted
a bit. Then drift back out.
We'll pretend we never saw
them. Right. Hang on.
My good night cutie manners.
Let me handle this, okay?
Territorial woman Smile. See?
Finding a rotate.
Territory of the Cuba. You are
in Cuban waters. We have to
search your boat. It's alright.
Go ahead.
You sell in Cuba? No. No. No.
No. No. I'm a scientist. She's
a doctor. And a scientist.
Right. And we study dolphins.
You just told me study donuts.
She's very pretty. Uh look,
look, look, look. Hey, hey,
hey. We don't want any trouble
here, alright? Why don't you
just take the computer as a
gift of friendship from my
country, alright? Does he have
a hard drive? Oh, yeah. Yeah. A
sound card? Uh huh. VGA or
superVGA? Oh, come on. You want
it or not?
Don't let us catch you in these
waters again or it will cost
you much more than a computer.
Six six.
Oh, Yes.
I'm taking you home. No, we
came for Flipper. Let's go get
her.
Hey. Okay, listen. Hernandez
wants to starve you. All I want
is a little bit of thanks.
Oh hey, don't what?
I can't believe. Just look at
me. I can't It's a good start,
yeah.
We blend in with the landscape.
Could you get me my bag,
please?
No, tell me I'm imagining this.
I don't feel so good. You're
about to feel a lot worse. So
are you. Hi, are we there yet?
Are we?
This is I say no. We both
definitely said no. When are
you going to learn that no
means don't do it. Well you say
no even when you don't mean it
like gotta have it. Coming to
Cuba was not a maybe no no. It
was a definite no no. I had to
come. We had to come. You're in
a bit of trouble yourself. My
sister don't understand. She
understands everything. Piper.
Get the point.
If you were in my shoes, would
you stay at home? Tell him you
would have stayed.
Tell him, Keith. I can't. We're
in the middle of a banana
plantation in Cuba with two
kids searching for a dolphin.
This is never an entry in my
daily planner. Do you want to
stay in the banana plantation?
Let's just keep walking.
Keith, I'm going to be safe
here though. This is Garcia's
village. I've been here a few
times. Buenos dias señor.
Buenos dias amigo. Um Busco
Garcia. Uh Garcia. Gracias.
I see ya.
Why are you here? You were
supposed to pick me up.
Tomorrow. Whoa. No, no, no, not
tomorrow, today. So, you're
here. Why are you? Who's she?
Oh, me? I'm a nobody. I was
supposed to wait on the boat.
This is my son, Mike and his
friend, Maya. Hi, pleasure. Hi,
Eddie.
Keith never said Garcia was a
woman. A beautiful woman.
Let's go. Come on.
The kids are asleep. You look
better. Have some coffee.
Tell us about Casa Desol. He
has been a pit for money.
Senior Hernandez watches over
the hotel as if it was his
baby. Is there ocean access?
Yes, but there's much security.
Do we really have to kidnap
Flipper? I mean, can't we talk
to Hernandez? Tell him what's
happened. He may be a
reasonable man. Senior
Hernandez is many things but
reasonable is not one of them.
Take us there. Manyana.
Stay with the truck. I have a
cousin who works here. I'll see
if he can help.
She's not my girlfriend. I'm
not saying she's your only
girlfriend. I'm saying she must
be a girlfriend and I'm not
being judgmental. It's fine,
Keith. You you're always being
judgmental. She's a friend,
just a friend. Fine, right?
Whatever you say. Friends don't
kiss like that. See? Yeah, I
tried to tug mine into it once
but she slugged me.
Marco.
Oh, good. Here she comes,
finally. Any luck? My cousin
arranged for you to be in a
Canadian group of travel agents
during the hotel. Can you pass
us?
Smoke. No, thank you. Cuban,
best in the world. I don't
smoke. Habana Blancos aren't
just a cigar, they're a life
experience. Well, I get death
experience. They blacken your
lungs, stain your teeth, stink
up your teeth.
Let's go. What did you just say
to my son? Yeah, what she just
say to me? I know that Enseñor
means to sleep. Ensignar means
to teach. To teach the teeth a
horse.
Alright, remember, we're from
Canada, eh? Where in Canada? Um
Montreal. No, I like to make
leaks. I want to be from
Toronto. Okay, fine. We're from
Toronto.
For all time.
Hey, buddy. Hey, Flipper. Man,
it's good to see you. Don't
worry, we're going to get you
out of here. Everything's
going to be okay. I provided a
matching pair of Bengal Tigers
for a Vegas act. I can have two
of them roaming around the
lobby by Saturday. No. Get your
money's worth with tigers. No
training required. All they
have to do is look good and
scare the hell out of the kids.
You're not supposed to be
Oh, listen. I'm sorry. No, no.
It's alright if he really likes
you.
I swim a lot back home. There's
a wild pot of dolphins. This
guy must smell mommy. Dolphins
don't need the scent. Oh well,
then maybe he's just a friendly
guy. Hmm. What's his name?
Marco Polo. There you are. Son.
Sorry, very inquisitive. Hope
he hasn't disturbed you at all.
Uh no, no problem. This is the
most responsive Marco's bed.
Hey, that's a dolphin, right?
That's Nino. Alright, we better
get back before mom gets
worried, right? Right.
Marco. Surveillance camera
right there. Wanna throw him
over your shoulder and run? Oh,
we're with the Canadian travel
group. If you could just point
us in the right direction, we'd
like that. Vasaforte. Oh, yeah.
Yeah. Uh you know, I put him in
my other pants. Goodies. No no
no everything's going to be
just fine.
Another getaway.
Thank you for joining us. It's
hard to resist when you're
being escorted by an armed
guard. Where's Keith? He's a
guest of the local police
commander. Don't worry about
Senorix. He's being treated
well. I understand that you're
an officer in the American
Navy. Yes, I am. And did your
superiors give you permission
to come to Cuba?
No. Well, let's hope they never
find out. You're the guy who
took Flipper. We're going to
call him Marco. It's a little
easier for our Spanish
audiences to pronounce. You
guys make me sick. Do you have
any idea what you've done? I
didn't want to hurt anybody.
Yeah, well, I want to hurt you.
I want to rip your heart out
with my bare hands and feed it
to my neighbor's dog. You let
your kid talk like this. Under
exceptional circumstances. So
what's it like to have people
hate you? What's it like to
have children hate you? Answer
the question, Tyrone. How can
we make it better for you? Take
Flipper back to Florida. That
will never happen. But how
comfortable he is here and how
soon your friend gets out of
jail is up to you. How's that?
We're having a hard time
getting the dolphin to
cooperate. No. We can't seem to
get through to him. I won't.
Now, the President of Cuba is
going to tour this hotel. I'm
not going to help you train
flip. And everything's going to
be perfect. No, I won't. I'm
not going to have him right.
Shut up. Enough. Don't speak to
my son that way. I think it's
time we go back to our world.
Come on, kids. You haven't
heard our offer. I heard your
offer and I'll think about it.
You don't handle children any
better than you do dolphins.
What am I going to do with you
Tyrone? Hey.
Hernandez doesn't want me to
feed you. That's right. I want
you to starve. Good boy. Just a
little bit closer. Come on.
Good. Okay. The ring. Ready to
try with the ring again? Uh
Okay, bring it back.
Bring it here.
You make my friend moi. How you
say it? I want
little nervous here myself.
What are you in here for?
Because somebody make my friend
Nervioso. Si, muy nervioso.
Ikea stop. Gracias. Welcome to
Cuba. I guess. Where are they?
Where's Pam and the kids? All
those are going to be a little
early for the opening of the
hotel. Where are they? Back.
Get me out of here, Tyrell.
Well, it's easier said than
done. I didn't arrest you. The
Cubans did. I had to put you up
in the presidential suite. You
took exactly the wrong dolphin.
No, no, I took exactly the
right dolphin. You didn't give
me any choice. Sorry, it had to
be this way. Enjoy the food and
the company. Looks like you're
going to be here for a long
time.
Hi,

Nancy Lee Mayat's house senior
year, her dad's place. You
caught Simee's fighting fish in
your teeth, blindfolded. You
know too much about me. I'll
own you some gear. We'll do
some fly fishing and catch up.
I wish I could. I'm on the
clock. Oh, the life of the
tycoon. How many stores do you
have now? None, I sold them
all. I'm out of the tropical
fish business. So now you're
just rolling in the box, huh?
Where is it? Where's the
Porsche, huh, you know? Hey,
I'm not here to fly. Yeah, it's
the opposite. I'm here to offer
a helping hand. Hey, I know
what you're up against.
Government funds being squeezed
for education. Re search
cutbacks. It's getting pretty
rough out there. Hello, See,
now you're scaring me. Now
you're starting to sound like
someone who might write a
check. I am. Think of a number.
I can think of a pretty good
number. $10, 000? That's a
pretty good number. Here's a
catch. Sell me a dolphin, one
that's already trained. It's
for a new business venture.
We're talking dolphin heaven.
Huge natural pool,
state-of-the-art filtration
system, full-time vet. Plenty
to eat. I'm not a dolphin
trader and you know that. Go
talk to Marine Life Park next
door. I already have.
Paperwork's a problem. No,
paperwork is the law. They
want to make sure you're fully
licensed and legitimate. But
you know that I'm legit. I'm
just on a tight schedule. Come
on, Andrew. Really turning up
the heat on this one.
Sorry, Tyrone. I'm not going to
help you with this one. I've
known you a long time, Keith
and I've seen you bend the
rules when it suits your needs.
Come on, man. There's gotta be
a number that works for both of
us. Yeah, there is. One -800
marine fisheries. I don't know
what your deal is here but if
you break the law, I will be
the one to turn you in, frat
brother or no?
Thank you. Yeah. Thank you. No
second day discounts? Sorry.
Okay, we need a volunteer. Who
has something from flipper to
find? Let's see.
You know, that's a pretty cool
bracelet, missus Burford. What
do you say? I'm sorry, Mike.
It's a present for my husband.
Come on, it's no sweat for
Flipper.
Thanks okay guys watch the
bracelet
screw up and missus Burford
will flung me for sure.
Come on.
Can I
My guess isn't funny. Alright,
alright.
You.
Me. No. No.
I
I
Mike, over there.
You're stealing Flipper.
What's good? What's good? Let's
get out of here.
Stand back. Zipper. And you
haven't talked to him since
then? Keith. Yeah, I'm familiar
with the Paradixo Marina.
Right, right. England. Where'd
you get that? One of the kids
had a camera. Uh Kristen, it's
been really helpful, I think.
Um it's been nice talking to
you and I'll see you at the
next reunion. Casa Del Sol,
House of the Soul. House of the
Sun. I knew that. Right. Well,
does it bring any bells? Not to
me but it might to conch.
Conch? Yeah, Jimmy Concella.
He's a fraternity buddies,
Tyrell's best friend. He has a
marina in South Miami. Well,
let's go talk to him. Uh What's
he doing?
Is that needle point? Ricks.
Hey hey. Did you think I'm
sewing? Get off my boat. Look,
we don't want any problems,
right? And I want to have to
ask you again. Wait a minute,
that's not needle point. That's
counting cross stitch. What?
I'm really impressed. I've
never been able to finish one
of these. This is really hard.
Where did you get the pattern?
Oh, I'm in a club with my mom.
Actually, it's not all cross
stitch. I've used a horizontal
tent stitch down the borders
here to give it a. Slow. What
are you laughing at? Nothing.
It it's it's different. Can we
get to the point? We're looking
for Tyrell Parsley. Look, have
you seen him? Maybe I haven't.
Maybe I haven't. Maybe it
doesn't matter. Tyrell
kidnapped a friend of ours.
Kidnapped? It was an animal
friend. It's a dolphin. For a
minute, they had my attention.
Forget Miami. Tyrell's gone.
Oh, come on, Jimmy. It's a big
world out there. Could you just
narrow it down for us a little.
You gave me nothing but grief,
Ricks. Why should I narrow down
anything for you? Narrow it
down for me. I mean, Flipper is
like my best friend in the
whole world and it's my fault
that they took him. Flipper?
That's the silliest thing I
ever heard of. Oh, I don't
know, Jimmy. That's pretty damn
silly. Would you help us? Come
on, please.
I don't know where he went. I
know where he came from, Cuba.
Please tell me that you're
kidding. I swarmed down the
blue boar the other day. He was
passing out Havana's like they
were licorice sticks. Have you
heard of the Castle del Sol?
No, should I? I hope you find
your friend. Thanks. Thanks,
Jimmy. We're not going to leave
him in Cuba. I mean, we're
going to go get him, right?
Tyrell can go in and out of
Cuba because he's Canadian. US
citizens, we can't even visit.
Filter might as well be on the
other side of the moon,
sweetheart.
I
Hi,
I
I thought the idea was to get
trained dolphins, Tyrell. He is
trained. I saw him doing
eight-foot jumps for the kids.
Dolphins, plural. I mean, look
at him. He's all alone. He
needs a companion. I went
through hell and back to get
this one. I'm not going back
there.
Make him do back flips and
you're home free.
Home free.
Good swim. Water's nice.
I wish I could swim all the way
there. No man could do that.
Young or old. All families are
made on dinky little rats.
Homemade boats.
I bet a boat with a real good
engine can make it easy. Half a
day. Sometimes less.
I got a friend who lives over
there. A real good one. Have
you ever told you about Garcia?
No. Will Garcia help us?
Probably. Listen, I've got
almost $115. Darcy wouldn't
take your money. Neither would
I. Listen, I'm not asking you
to go. Who's asking you to ask?
Not me. I mean, I don't need
permission.
If I want to go, I'll go,
right? Nobody could stop you.
I'm going to get Flipper back,
Mike. That's a promise.
I was our new friend. Great.
Quite the performance. Well,
you have to admit Senior
Hernandez, the animal's smart.
What you call smart, I call
disobedient. Gonna give him
some time to get activated.
He'll put on quite a show.
Como? Uh, comfortable like in
home sweet home. We want the
dolphin to feel safe. Oh, I
see. This fish is a human now.
I must be concerned with his
feelings.
From elephants to pan, does
animals get disoriented when
they change environments? Ah,
Tyrell, a man of many talents.
First, you hunt the animals.
Then you become their
psychiatrist. Look, I know what
I saw. This dolphin has a PHD
in tailwalks. My country has
been asleep for nearly half a
century. We don't have ties
with the feelings of a fish. He
is not a fish.
I have splendid news for you
and Presidente wishes to
inspect our hotel in a few
days. I want everything to be
absolute lamente perfecto.
Yeah, yeah, I understand. Do
not allow the fish to steal the
food again. It will perform or
it will die.
I should be going with them.
When are they leaving? Soon,
real soon.
What's the computer for? Oh, I
want to play flight simulator
on the way over. That was a
joke, right? That's a joke,
right? Electronic equipment is
in short supply over there.
Something like this will bring
us a lot of favors. Keith, I
want to go with you. We want to
go with you. Why do you always
have to leave me out of things?
No. But that's not stupid. We
can help. Did you just call me
stupid? She didn't mean stupid.
She meant completely unfair.
Come on, Keith. It was my fault
the Flipper got swiped. Our
fault. What if I get mom to say
yes? She won't. Mom, no, Mike.
It's Cuba. It's not Disney
World or Alabama or the
Bahamas, it's Cuba. I found out
what the Casa del Sol is. It's
a new hotel about 150 miles
outside of Havana. Great,
that'll help a lot. Flippers at
a hotel? You're crazy to go in
alone. You've got a volunteer
right here. Two volunteers. I'm
not going in alone. My friend
Garcia's picking me up in
international walkers. What are
you going to do with the boat?
Drop Anchor and hope she's
there when I get back. Uh I'm
going with you. No, no, no, no,
no. You're an officer in the
United States Navy. You'll be
court minded. Let me come
instead. No. Us. No. I'll stay
in the boat in international
waters. If you get in trouble,
you radio me. I want to get
Flipper back. I'm not going to
take no for an answer. You,
however, are.
You guys load the rest of the
gear on, would you please?
Don't look at me like that.
It's not my fault. No, it's
mine, right? If I didn't know
any better, I'd say food
doesn't matter to him. It's
like he's on a hunger strike.
In order to strike, you have to
be able to think. This guy is
stupid. Speed him a dead
dolphin doesn't do anybody any
good. Go ahead. You forget.
I
Excellent. Make him do it
again.
We're too far out. Uh it's the
rendezvous point. How do you
know? Where did you write the
coordinates down? We don't use
coordinates. What do you use?
Waves? See you at the little
white cap at noon. Don't give
me a hard time, miss. I'm in
the navy but can't keep my
breakfast down. There's Garcia
right there.
You never told me Garcia had a
75 millimeter cannon and a
uniformed crew. What?
So what? They can't do anything
to us. We're an international
workers. We might have drifted
a bit. Then drift back out.
We'll pretend we never saw
them. Right. Hang on.
My good night cutie manners.
Let me handle this, okay?
Territorial woman Smile. See?
Finding a rotate.
Territory of the Cuba. You are
in Cuban waters. We have to
search your boat. It's alright.
Go ahead.
You sell in Cuba? No. No. No.
No. No. I'm a scientist. She's
a doctor. And a scientist.
Right. And we study dolphins.
You just told me study donuts.
She's very pretty. Uh look,
look, look, look. Hey, hey,
hey. We don't want any trouble
here, alright? Why don't you
just take the computer as a
gift of friendship from my
country, alright? Does he have
a hard drive? Oh, yeah. Yeah. A
sound card? Uh huh. VGA or
superVGA? Oh, come on. You want
it or not?
Don't let us catch you in these
waters again or it will cost
you much more than a computer.
Six six.
Oh, Yes.
I'm taking you home. No, we
came for Flipper. Let's go get
her.
Hey. Okay, listen. Hernandez
wants to starve you. All I want
is a little bit of thanks.
Oh hey, don't what?
I can't believe. Just look at
me. I can't It's a good start,
yeah.
We blend in with the landscape.
Could you get me my bag,
please?
No, tell me I'm imagining this.
I don't feel so good. You're
about to feel a lot worse. So
are you. Hi, are we there yet?
Are we?
This is I say no. We both
definitely said no. When are
you going to learn that no
means don't do it. Well you say
no even when you don't mean it
like gotta have it. Coming to
Cuba was not a maybe no no. It
was a definite no no. I had to
come. We had to come. You're in
a bit of trouble yourself. My
sister don't understand. She
understands everything. Piper.
Get the point.
If you were in my shoes, would
you stay at home? Tell him you
would have stayed.
Tell him, Keith. I can't. We're
in the middle of a banana
plantation in Cuba with two
kids searching for a dolphin.
This is never an entry in my
daily planner. Do you want to
stay in the banana plantation?
Let's just keep walking.
Keith, I'm going to be safe
here though. This is Garcia's
village. I've been here a few
times. Buenos dias señor.
Buenos dias amigo. Um Busco
Garcia. Uh Garcia. Gracias.
I see ya.
Why are you here? You were
supposed to pick me up.
Tomorrow. Whoa. No, no, no, not
tomorrow, today. So, you're
here. Why are you? Who's she?
Oh, me? I'm a nobody. I was
supposed to wait on the boat.
This is my son, Mike and his
friend, Maya. Hi, pleasure. Hi,
Eddie.
Keith never said Garcia was a
woman. A beautiful woman.
Let's go. Come on.
The kids are asleep. You look
better. Have some coffee.
Tell us about Casa Desol. He
has been a pit for money.
Senior Hernandez watches over
the hotel as if it was his
baby. Is there ocean access?
Yes, but there's much security.
Do we really have to kidnap
Flipper? I mean, can't we talk
to Hernandez? Tell him what's
happened. He may be a
reasonable man. Senior
Hernandez is many things but
reasonable is not one of them.
Take us there. Manyana.
Stay with the truck. I have a
cousin who works here. I'll see
if he can help.
She's not my girlfriend. I'm
not saying she's your only
girlfriend. I'm saying she must
be a girlfriend and I'm not
being judgmental. It's fine,
Keith. You you're always being
judgmental. She's a friend,
just a friend. Fine, right?
Whatever you say. Friends don't
kiss like that. See? Yeah, I
tried to tug mine into it once
but she slugged me.
Marco.
Oh, good. Here she comes,
finally. Any luck? My cousin
arranged for you to be in a
Canadian group of travel agents
during the hotel. Can you pass
us?
Smoke. No, thank you. Cuban,
best in the world. I don't
smoke. Habana Blancos aren't
just a cigar, they're a life
experience. Well, I get death
experience. They blacken your
lungs, stain your teeth, stink
up your teeth.
Let's go. What did you just say
to my son? Yeah, what she just
say to me? I know that Enseñor
means to sleep. Ensignar means
to teach. To teach the teeth a
horse.
Alright, remember, we're from
Canada, eh? Where in Canada? Um
Montreal. No, I like to make
leaks. I want to be from
Toronto. Okay, fine. We're from
Toronto.
For all time.
Hey, buddy. Hey, Flipper. Man,
it's good to see you. Don't
worry, we're going to get you
out of here. Everything's
going to be okay. I provided a
matching pair of Bengal Tigers
for a Vegas act. I can have two
of them roaming around the
lobby by Saturday. No. Get your
money's worth with tigers. No
training required. All they
have to do is look good and
scare the hell out of the kids.
You're not supposed to be
Oh, listen. I'm sorry. No, no.
It's alright if he really likes
you.
I swim a lot back home. There's
a wild pot of dolphins. This
guy must smell mommy. Dolphins
don't need the scent. Oh well,
then maybe he's just a friendly
guy. Hmm. What's his name?
Marco Polo. There you are. Son.
Sorry, very inquisitive. Hope
he hasn't disturbed you at all.
Uh no, no problem. This is the
most responsive Marco's bed.
Hey, that's a dolphin, right?
That's Nino. Alright, we better
get back before mom gets
worried, right? Right.
Marco. Surveillance camera
right there. Wanna throw him
over your shoulder and run? Oh,
we're with the Canadian travel
group. If you could just point
us in the right direction, we'd
like that. Vasaforte. Oh, yeah.
Yeah. Uh you know, I put him in
my other pants. Goodies. No no
no everything's going to be
just fine.
Another getaway.
Thank you for joining us. It's
hard to resist when you're
being escorted by an armed
guard. Where's Keith? He's a
guest of the local police
commander. Don't worry about
Senorix. He's being treated
well. I understand that you're
an officer in the American
Navy. Yes, I am. And did your
superiors give you permission
to come to Cuba?
No. Well, let's hope they never
find out. You're the guy who
took Flipper. We're going to
call him Marco. It's a little
easier for our Spanish
audiences to pronounce. You
guys make me sick. Do you have
any idea what you've done? I
didn't want to hurt anybody.
Yeah, well, I want to hurt you.
I want to rip your heart out
with my bare hands and feed it
to my neighbor's dog. You let
your kid talk like this. Under
exceptional circumstances. So
what's it like to have people
hate you? What's it like to
have children hate you? Answer
the question, Tyrone. How can
we make it better for you? Take
Flipper back to Florida. That
will never happen. But how
comfortable he is here and how
soon your friend gets out of
jail is up to you. How's that?
We're having a hard time
getting the dolphin to
cooperate. No. We can't seem to
get through to him. I won't.
Now, the President of Cuba is
going to tour this hotel. I'm
not going to help you train
flip. And everything's going to
be perfect. No, I won't. I'm
not going to have him right.
Shut up. Enough. Don't speak to
my son that way. I think it's
time we go back to our world.
Come on, kids. You haven't
heard our offer. I heard your
offer and I'll think about it.
You don't handle children any
better than you do dolphins.
What am I going to do with you
Tyrone? Hey.
Hernandez doesn't want me to
feed you. That's right. I want
you to starve. Good boy. Just a
little bit closer. Come on.
Good. Okay. The ring. Ready to
try with the ring again? Uh
Okay, bring it back.
Bring it here.
You make my friend moi. How you
say it? I want
little nervous here myself.
What are you in here for?
Because somebody make my friend
Nervioso. Si, muy nervioso.
Ikea stop. Gracias. Welcome to
Cuba. I guess. Where are they?
Where's Pam and the kids? All
those are going to be a little
early for the opening of the
hotel. Where are they? Back.
Get me out of here, Tyrell.
Well, it's easier said than
done. I didn't arrest you. The
Cubans did. I had to put you up
in the presidential suite. You
took exactly the wrong dolphin.
No, no, I took exactly the
right dolphin. You didn't give
me any choice. Sorry, it had to
be this way. Enjoy the food and
the company. Looks like you're
going to be here for a long
time.
Hi,
