Fear the Walking Dead (2015–…): Season 8, Episode 4 - King County - full transcript

Morgan's return to King County gets complicated when PADRE comes to collect.

Why is PADRE doing this?

To ensure what
he's built endures.

I am the only one who
could save his life.

Get them out of here.

We are PADRE.

All these people lost
their children to PADRE.

Fight alongside us.

What's this? King County.

What does it mean?

Some kind of graffiti.

- Who are you?
- I'm your mother.

- How'd they find us?
- At least we got to see.

Sorry it took me so long.

I'm here!

Duane?

Ohh...

No. No.

No!

Hey!

Hey!

I can do it.

I can kill you.

And you.

I can kill all of you!

I'm sorry, Duane.

Duane, I can't do it.

I don't know why I can't do it!

You're a long way from home.

Whoa! It's me! It's me!

What the hell are
you doing here?

How did you find me?

You asked me to come.

No, I did not.

I was working at the repeater
station and you sent me an SOS.

It was coded like
we talked about.

Nobody knew I was coming here.

You sure?

Unless somebody followed
me, yes, I am sure.

And you know better
than to listen to that.

I could've been a walker. I
could've... It doesn't matter.

What the hell is that smell?

Yeah, uh...

Walkers feeding on
skunks, and I, uh...

Yeah, well, we need
to get you cleaned up.

What are you doing
so far inland?

Morgan?

Wait, wait, wait!

It's just me.

Why the hell are you two here?

You know you're just gonna
get yourselves killed.

Yeah, by you if
you get any closer.

What are you doing here?

You get the same
message that Grace did?

No.

I'm the one who sent it.

Madison told me you were going to
take care of something important.

Madison. You saw her?

Is she okay?

She got away. Good.

I didn't tell Madison
where I was headed.

You didn't have to.

The graffiti on the
boat... King County.

I knew it meant something by
the way you told me it didn't.

Well, you are so much smarter
than you got any right to be.

Does this have something
to do with Jenny and Duane?

Their names were
on the wall, too.

You shouldn't be here.

Who are they?

You need to take
her away from here.

It's his wife and son.

Is that why you're here?

I came here...

I came to put my boy to rest.

You mean he's... Walking around.

Still.

How'd you fake that
message? "Dock of the Bay."

How'd you know about our code?

I knew that song meant
something to you and Mom.

Is it okay if I call you that?

Of course.

I thought if I put it at
the end of the message,

she'd think it was you.

If I told you the truth,

I didn't think
you'd bring me here.

Is this what it feels like?

What feels like?

Getting in trouble
with your parents?

You know, we're not the ones
you need to worry about.

How'd you get away from PADRE?

Madison's friend
Daniel. He helped me.

Daniel's still alive?

He's found other parents
who lost their kids.

He's building an army
to take PADRE down.

We can help him do that.

Yeah, we...

We can, but first I gotta
do what I come here to do.

Duane.

Where is he?

We were looking for food.

Man, we were always
looking for food,

and I went down
into the basement

and told him to stay
in the kitchen and...

I don't know. Maybe
the door was ajar.

The front door, because when
I came out, there she was.

His mother, standing
right opposite him,

but she wasn't his
mother anymore.

Before I could even get my gun
up, Jenny was on top of him.

I finally did what I should
have done weeks before.

I, uh... I-I-I fired.

But it was too late.

I'm so sorry, Morgan.

There was just blood.

God, the blood and the
teeth and... and...

I don't know.

I just ran.

You know, I ran like I
didn't know what else to do.

Ran and left him here.

Left my boy to
become one of them.

Mo: Where'd you go?

I don't know.

It's a blur.

It just comes back to
me in pieces. It's...

All I know is I started
killing anything

that moved in front of me.

Whether it was alive
or dead, I killed it.

You sure you're up for this?

Yeah.

I just think that maybe I
should go in there by myself.

We wanna come.

What?

You really need
some new clothes.

Yeah.

But we're still here,
which should tell you

we're not letting you
go in there by yourself.

- Were you followed?
- No, I was careful.

Let's get out of here.
Let's go. Come on.

Over there.

Okay. Come on.

Stop. Behind there.

Back up.

There's nowhere to go, Morgan!

Okay.

I need you to stay here.

He called you Morgan.
You know Red Kite?

I'm the reason he's at PADRE.

Stay here.

Down...

What are you doing
here? How'd you find me?

We're here to take you back.

We heard the message
you sent Grace.

That message was coded.

Coordinates and "Dock
of the Bay," Morgan?

You really think we
wouldn't figure that out?

Come on.

You don't really want
to take me back, do you?

This isn't up for
debate, Morgan.

What
the hell is that?

It's just a skunk.
I... Look. Please...

He's going on the
back of your horse.

PADRE's got your
son, doesn't he?

He's using him against you.

Damn right he is.

And we bring you back,
he's giving Finch and us

freedom to go wherever we
want. You can't believe that.

We'll take our
chances. Alright?

We know what'll happen to Finch
if we don't bring you back.

Worse than what's
already happened.

You sold us out seven years
ago to rescue your kid.

We're just returning the favor.

No! Hey, hey, hey!

Ah...

You brought them?

Technically, we came
without his permission.

Voice on radio:
Red Kite, come in.

What do we do now?

Dude, you know
what we have to do.

Well, we turn her in to
PADRE, PADRE's gonna hurt her.

Yeah, well, we won't
see our kid if we don't.

Red Kite, are you there?
Do you need assistance?

Alright. I may
have an idea. Okay?

Look, you take off with
Grace and Mo right now.

Okay? We'll find some
walkers that look like y'all

and we'll mess up
their faces like we did

when Al and I ran from Ginny.

That's not gonna work.
It worked with Virginia.

We got lucky with Virginia.

If it doesn't work this time,

that's your kid's
life on the line.

He's right, D. We've got way
too much to lose right now.

What, you want Finch to know
we traded in some kid to PADRE

to buy his freedom?

Look, we have two
guards babysitting us.

Okay? We rode ahead
to sweep the town.

So if I were you, I'd
make your decision

right now before they catch up.

Red Kite, we're approaching.
What's your status?

There is something
I have to do first.

God.

Morgan. Let it go.

I can't. I'm sorry. I can't.

So...

Run. Go.

- Hey! Stop!
- I'm gonna...

Alright. Cut 'em
off at the entrance!

There are more of them coming.

Over here. Come on.

It's clear.

It's gonna be getting dark soon.

Kitchen's through here.

In the cupboards,
there may be oil lamps.

Extra oil in the lowers.

And, Grace, up on the
second-floor front bedroom,

there may be a rifle.

If there is, under the bed,

there'll be extra
ammo in a shoebox.

Morgan... We're gonna
need that rifle.

Walkers are gonna find us
before Dwight and Sherry do.

I'm not going anywhere
until you tell me

how you know where
everything is in this house.

I used to live here with
Duane before he died.

Are you sure being
here is a good idea?

You got a better one?

Did it get rid of the smell?

I think it just masks it.

How'd you know that'd work?

When Duane was little,
he had a dog named Midge.

Used to follow him everywhere

and bark at everybody else.

One time, she got too close
to the wrong end of a skunk.

She smelled worse than me.

But she had to be
where Duane was at.

So he's crying.
She's stinking.

Me and Jenny damn
near lost our minds.

So you gave her a bath
in tomato soup? Yup.

Made her smell like a mix
between wet dog and bad ketchup.

Why do you think there's
all these cans still left?

Even when we hadn't
eaten in days,

Duane wouldn't touch the stuff.

Was it nice?

What, the soup?

How things used to be.

I would say it wasn't bad.

Do you think it'll ever
be like that again?

I think if we do things right...

we might have the chance
to make it even better.

Give everybody that second
chance that they deserve.

I'm sorry what I
said to you before.

When I said me and Grace
were not your parents.

I know what you
were trying to do.

Because we are.

In every way that
matters, we are.

I know.

It's just Isaac and Rachel,
they're your parents, too.

And they sacrificed their lives
so that you would survive.

Go upstairs, Mo. Go.

There's too many out there.
We can't stay here, Morgan.

The walkers, they're gonna
lead Dwight and Sherry here.

Yeah. They'll head off, soon.

When they do, I
want you to take Mo

as far north as your
truck will get her.

Where are you going? I
gotta take care of Duane.

Then I will catch up to you,

and we can regroup with
Madison and Daniel.

You have to come with us now.

I need to put my boy to rest.

You just told Mo you
wanted a second chance.

This might be the
only one you get.

I need to do this.

This is exactly what I was
doing when we first met.

No. You were burying
your co-workers.

I was risking my life for
people who were already dead.

This is my son.

And it's Mo's life!

We could have gotten away when
Dwight and Sherry gave us the out.

That wouldn't have worked.
You don't know that.

I gotta do this.

Only way I can be sure I can
give that girl what she needs.

Why? I need to know that
I won't let her down.

You are so scared of the
past repeating itself

that you don't even
realize that you're the one

who's making it happen.

And now we're
trapped in this house

that you and Duane lived
because you brought us here.

Dwight: We know you're
in there, Morgan.

Look out the window.

Mo.

Upstairs, please.

Be smart about this, Morgan.

This isn't then.

Whatever happened in
this house with Duane,

it doesn't have
to happen with us.

I'm listening.

We're trying to make
this easy on you.

You're the one that's
making it hard.

Don't forget that.

Don't need to make
it any harder.

Maybe we can still
make that deal.

No, I think it's
too late for that.

We're waiting, Morgan.

Man, you can keep waiting,
'cause those walkers out there,

they're a bigger problem
for you than they are us.

Morgan.

You said you had to
take care of something.

Maybe we can help.

PADRE thinks you came
out here for a reason.

Weapons, more soldiers
to plan an attack.

It's not like that.

Okay, then tell
us what it's like.

It's my boy. My son.

He died here. He's in one
of the houses close by.

I came back to bury him.

I'm sorry, Morgan, but we have
our son to think about, too.

Let's get it done. Do it.

The house won't hold
when it's surrounded

by every walker within 10 miles.

Mo: Dad!

Did you do this?

Morgan: I don't
remember. I don't know.

I don't remember ever coming
back here after Duane died.

- Morgan.
- It's okay.

I'm okay.

Jenny was always outside.

She would wander back
here most nights.

I don't know if it's
'cause she heard us in here

or she could smell
us, but I would...

I'd sit and wait.

I wanted to put her to
rest, didn't want Duane

to have to see his
mother like that.

A man named Rick Grimes
gave me this rifle

to do right by her,
and I... never could.

I don't know. I must have...

come back here after Duane died.

Why'd you write all this?

So, things, um...

they went wrong for me
for a long time after.

What does "clear" mean?

Clear? It...

It's when I was killing
them, when I was...

When I was killing
anything and anyone

who came anywhere near me.

I like it when you smile.

Yeah, me too.

I remember the first
time I saw you smile.

It was on the carousel.

What have we been doing
these last seven years?

We've been doing what...
What we thought we had to.

Did you guys ever
see each other?

Now and then.

If PADRE knew what we
mean to each other...

He would have used
it against you.

Yeah.

I'm sorry we wasted
all that time, Morgan.

Dwight: Maybe
this'll hurry you up.

What is it?

They're trying to burn us out.

Here. We'll save
you the bullet.

This one's a courtesy kill.

But the next one we light
on fire keeps walking.

Dwight, come on. I got
Mo in here with me.

You're gonna get her killed.

No.You will.

You got five minutes to
turn yourself over...

or I'm sending one
up on that porch.

We'll be waiting, Morgan.

I should've taken
that deal from before.

I put you and Mo in danger.

Mo: You made the
right choice, Dad.

We just can't abandon
Daniel and Madison.

We have to get back to my truck.

You can stop the walkers
before they get to the house.

You can make a path so
we can get to the truck.

You just have to "clear" for us.

No. It is not that simple.

This is your second chance, Dad.

Grace: Maybe this is what
you need to show yourself

that things can be different.

That's Sherry and
Dwight out there.

We can get by them.

PADRE will hurt their son.

Not if we can help Daniel
take the island first.

She's right, Morgan.

Rick... he gave you
this gun for a reason.

Use it.

Aim for the ones in the center.

I'll take care of
the ones to the side.

You stay behind me.

We get through the scrum,
walkers will follow

and make it hard for Dwight
and Sherry to get close.

I'm gonna cover you, but when
I say, you take a hard right

and you do not stop until
we are at the truck, okay?

You can do this.
I know you can.

We're
about to find out.

I meant what I said before.

I am so sorry we
wasted so much time.

Me too.

What was that for?

You've never seen
anybody kiss before.

And I don't need to again.

Can we just start killing
the Carrion, please?

Come on.

Ready?

In the house! Now!

Morgan. He's on fire!

Morgan!

There's nowhere to go.

PADRE wants answers. Why
are you really here, Morgan?

I told you already.
I'm here for my boy.

Alright. Show us. It's the only
way PADRE's gonna believe you.

It's alright.

After you see I'm
telling the truth,

you can take me back to
PADRE if you have to,

but promise me you'll
get Mo out of that house.

It's surrounded by walkers.

We'll make sure she's okay.

Dwight: Morgan.

Let me be the one to do it.

Please.

Not gonna try anything, are you?

Promise I won't.

Hey, hey, hey. No.

He's fine.

Ready?

Let's go.

It's not him. It's not him.

Duane?! Duane?

Where is he?

Duane?

Duane! It's o... It's okay.

Hey. Easy, easy, Morgan.
Morgan, it's okay.

No, he's... he's... he's
he's got... got to be here.

He has got to be here!

Morgan. Morgan. He's not here.

He has to be! Hey, hey.

Duane! He must have...

Duane!

He must have
gotten out. Morgan.

I wait... I waited too long.

I...

I waited too long.

It's okay, Morgan. It's okay.

It's not okay.

I waited too long. I...

I couldn't put him
to rest back then,

and I-I can't put
him to rest now.

I brought you here for nothing.

You and Mo, I put you
in danger for nothing!

I couldn't...
Guard: On your feet.

Shrike wants answers.

Why did you really come here?

He told you. For his son.

Bullshit! Grace.

Does it look like
he's faking it?!

He was lying. His
kid's not here.

If he won't tell you why
he's there, kill him.

No. No. Morgan. Morgan.

You heard her.
Why are you here?

Morgan, you need
to listen to me.

You need to tell
them about Duane.

Last chance.

Why were you here?

Alright. Just give
him a minute, okay?

Morgan, please. Please
listen to me, Morgan.

They will kill you if you don't
tell them what happened here.

You know it's already over.

No. No.

So if you're gonna do it...

Grace: N... No.

Do it.

Grace: No. No! Morgan!

No! Morgan! No!

Sherry: Grace. No! Morgan, no!

Grace: No!

Morgan: You shouldn't
have done that.

I'm not just gonna stand here

and watch you get killed
in cold blood, Morgan.

You're not the only one
trying to escape your past.

What PADRE's doing...
You know, making us do,

it's like living at the
Sanctuary all over again.

Your boy's gonna end
up just like mine.

And I can't have
that on me. I can't.

Shrike: PADRE Three.

PADRE's gonna kill him.

Report. Now.

Not if we have
something to do with it.

PADRE Three, answer.

Dwight: This is Red Kite.

Let me talk to Oriole.

Uh, Oriole can't talk right now.

Why not? Where is he?

You can talk to him
after I talk to my son.

I want to know he's okay.

Go ahead.

Talk to him.

Hello?

Hey, bud.

How are you feeling?

Finch: I think the
treatment worked.

You're gonna be
alright.What's going on?

Hey, you remember
that thing that I...

I taught you in class
before you got sick?

The Chimney Sweep?

Do it now.

Did it work?

Yeah, she's out. Now what?
They're going to find her.

Look, there is a
morning supply boat

that leaves in 20 minutes.

I want you to sneak
on board, and we're...

We're gonna meet you on
the dock when you land.

Can you do that?

I think so.

We know you can. Okay?

Look. It's not safe to
talk on here anymore.

We'll meet you on the
mainland, alright?

Okay.

Alright. We need to start
riding now if we're gonna

make it there before
the boat hits the dock.

Yeah.

Hey, Morgan, um...

Look. Whatever
happened here...

just know that you have a chance

to make things
different with Mo.

Don't forget that.
We'll see ya.

Grace: Mo?

Mo?

Mo, can you hear me?

We're on our way to
drive the walkers away.

Mo: Hurry, Mom!

You get away from that
door. You hear me?

We'll be there.

Come on, Morgan. Morgan:
No, you should go.

You're her best shot.
No, I'm not, Morgan.

You saw what happened to
me outside that house.

You have to do it. You
have to put it behind you.

I can't. Neither can I!

What are you talking about?

There's a reason why I
didn't want you to hear

what I was listening
to in the truck.

What?

The book.

I was playing it
at double speed.

The radiation's
caught up with me.

Morgan, I can feel it.

You were wrong before.

No.

This time it's different.

I'm sick, Morgan.

I know this isn't
what you want to hear,

especially now, but you have got
to get her out of that house.

How long have you
known? A few months.

I was starting to feel sick, so
I went to go find a hospital,

and I did a scan.

I'm paying the price for
chasing the dead, Morgan,

and I don't want
you to do the same.

You can't do the same!
I'm gonna get to her.

And then you, me, and Mo...

We're gonna spend
some time together.

Okay.

Mo, can you hear me?

Mo: One of the flares.
Caught the house on fire.

It's spreadi...

Mo?

Listen, baby. I'm
coming for you.

Dad, I'm upstairs!
I can't get out!

Get to the attic, Mo!
I'm on my way to you!

Who's there?

You're not her.

You are not her!

Duane?

None of you are her!

On my way!

Mo, are you here?!

Dad! I'm trapped!

Dad!

I'm stuck!

I brought him here?

Dad, help me!

Mo: Help me, Dad!

Dad! Please!

Do it, Dad! Please!

Please! You can do
it! I know you can!

Help!

Help!

Daddy, Daddy!

You okay? Hey. You okay?

It's okay. Gonna be okay.

You did it.

Let's get out of here.

There are a few things
I have to take care of.

But I'll be back. I promise.

And I won't take 10 years
to make good on that.

It's okay, Morgan.

It's over.

You didn't let it happen
again. And that's what matters.

We help Madison and
Daniel with PADRE.

We reunite every child who's
still got a parent out there.

We do what we said
we were gonna...

Spend as much time
together as we can.

You once told me...

that no matter what...

No matter what was
coming, I had to live.

So that's what we're gonna do.

When do we tell her?

Well, she's only just
got us all back together.

Let's not take that away
from her just yet, huh?

Dad.

You need something
to help you remember

what they were like before.

Help me! Help!

Dad!

Come here. Come
here. You okay?

You didn't get
bit? No, I'm fine.

I didn't get bit.

But I think he may have
been skunked, too.Yeah.

We should forget about
the, uh, photo album

and look for cans of
tomato soup for you.

Yeah. Morgan...

He should've gotten off by now.

Hey. He'll be here.

Hey!

Oh.

Look. We gotta get out of
here before they spot us.

Don't sneak up on us like that.

Whoa! Do you
think they saw us?

I don't know.

Man: Hey! Who are you?

- What the hell's going on?
- You alright?

I'm gonna need your help
with Grace. She got bit.

The treatment that June
has been using on your boy.

Is it working?

Yeah. Yeah. He's doing okay.

Then we gotta get Grace to June.

It's her only chance. Let's go.

Hey. You hang on. Hang on.

June's gonna be
able to fix this.

- You don't know that.
- Hey.

No matter what's
coming, we have to live.

Right? Hm.

Yeah.

I promise.

I promise.

They're getting closer.

I'm pushing her all I can!

It's gonna be okay.

June has a way of
treating bites.

She has to get to the train car.

There's no way Padre's
leaving it unguarded.

Why do you think I put it on
wheels in the first place?

Those are the tracks it was on.

We are getting closer.

Come on, my way.

Don't you try and stop me!

Hey!

- I think the thing
that made it so easy

to kind of return to King County
and to return to that house

that we saw in the pilot
of "The Walking Dead,"

this location, these sets
where the entire kind of

"Walking Dead" universe began,

was the fact that kind
of Morgan, at his core

as a character, was defined by
what happened in that house,

by what didn't
happen in that house.

- And we were always
looking for food.

And I went down
into the basement

and told them to
stay in the kitchen.

And I don't know...
Maybe the door was ajar.

The front door,
because when I came up,

there she was.

His mother standing
right opposite him,

but she wasn't his
mother anymore.

I'm so sorry, Morgan.

I just ran.

Ran and left them here.

- Those sets that were used
in the "Walking Dead" pilot

had long been dismantled,
so we were very lucky

that we got such an
amazing production team

that we could actually build the
exterior of that yellow house.

And then we re-created the
interior using all the plans

and all the set
photographs that we had.

It looks exactly like the house

that Morgan Jones
and Rick Grimes

were in at the very start of
this whole entire universe.

- Man named Rick Grimes
gave me this rifle

to do right by her,
and I... never could.

- Morgan has had an
incredibly complicated journey

from where he started
on "The Walking Dead"

to where we have
found him on "Fear."

He's petrified that he's not
going to be able to protect Mo,

his daughter, the way he
wasn't able to protect his son.

He's still punishing himself

for what happened
with Duane way back

when we first met him
on "The Walking Dead."

I'm on my way!

- Mo, you here?
- Dad! I'm trapped!

I brought him here?

Dad, help me!

Help me, Dad!

Dad, please!

Help!

Help!

Daddy, daddy!

- The scene where Morgan
buries Jenny and Duane

was one that we
talked about a lot.

And I think what was
really important to us

was feeling like Morgan had
done what he came there to do,

was he sort of put these
ghosts of his past to rest

and he was ready to move on.

You once told me...

that no matter what...

No matter what was
coming, I had to live.

So that's what
we're going to do.

And then just the final blow.

Help me! Help!

Dad!

- Morgan said some
words, and that was,

"I lose people, I lose myself."

You okay? You didn't get bit?

No, I'm fine. I didn't get bit.

- That's a real window
into Morgan's soul.

So the real pivot point is,

is Morgan going to be able to
overcome this mistaken belief

that every time
he loses someone,

he's going to lose himself?

And if that is the case,

Morgan's probably
not going to survive.

Hang on. Hang on.

June's gonna be
able to fix this.

You don't know that.

- Hey, no matter what's
coming, we have to live.

Right? Yeah.
