Fear the Walking Dead (2015–…): Season 4, Episode 10 - Close Your Eyes - full transcript

Alicia's forced to reckon with an agonizing past while seeking refuge from a storm.

Anybody home?

Whoever's in here,

get the hell out, or I'll kill you.

You got one chance.

Okay.

I just wanted to be left alone.

You should have left me alone.

Why are you here?

Did you follow me?

You can't be here.

You can't be here.

No! No!

No!

Why did you bring me back here?
Why did you do that?

I know you're in there!

Why won't you just say something?

All right. If you're not gonna talk,
then listen.

My mom died saving me.

Saving Nick, saving everyone.

Because you led Mel and Ennis
to the place we built.

Because you lied to us.

And then you shot my brother.

And I watched him bleed to death.

And I...

I couldn't do anything but watch him die.

Watch him realize he was going to die.

And it didn't happen fast.

He was aware. He was in pain.

He knew you did it.

He knew the person
he tried to save killed him.

And maybe that made him feel like
his life didn't mean anything.

I can't send you out there!

But if you're in this house with me,

then I'll probably kill you.

I don't know if I want to kill you.

I just know I probably will.

I'm trying to be like my mom.

I'm trying to believe what she believed,
do what she did.

Because that's all I have left of her.

That's the only thing
that keeps her alive.

If I kill...

If I kill you...

I won't let you take that
away from me again.

You may be a kid, Charlie.

But you know what you did.

And that makes you garbage.

It makes you a waste of a person.

Worse than something stumbling around
out there tearing into people.

See, I hope you live to a ripe old age

so you have to remember what you did.

What you did, who you are...

And how you can never, ever...

make up for it.

Why did you cover them?

Why won't you say anything?

Did you know these people or something?

I put them out there for a reason.

Come downstairs. Grab your coat.

Hold steady!

Good.

Next one.

We're making too much noise.

Get inside.

We'll try again later,
when there's a break in the storm.

When the dead start to clear out.

Give me your coat.

I'm trying to do the right thing here.

Once I get this started,
I can use the fire to dry it.

Give me your coat.
Then you can go upstairs.

Give me your coat.

Give me your coat!

Is this the same gun you...

I told you you couldn't be here.

I told you I didn't want to be around you.

Did you come here to kill me?

Is that it?

Get me before I could get you?

You expect me to believe that?

Get out of here. Go.

I'm sorry.

I'm trying.

Charlie!

This wasn't for me, was it?

It was for you.

Everyone's telling me
all the reasons to keep going.

But I think you and I both know
that's not the deal.

There are no good reasons.

I think you might've had the right idea.

But that doesn't mean
I'm gonna let you do it.

Why did you save me?

Was it because you wanted me
to live with it?

What I did?

I don't know.

But yeah, you're gonna
have to live with it.

You don't get off the hook that easy.

What did you think I was gonna say?

I saved you because
I see something in you?

Because I forgive you
for what you did to my family?

I'm not gonna say that. It's not true.

I can't help you.

So whatever it is you're looking for,
you're not gonna get it.

Not from me.

You have to live with what you've done.

Just like I have.

Even if all that's waiting for you
on the other end

is being out on that porch just like them.

How long do you think
the storm is gonna last?

Hell if I know.

I'm from California.

Get up. We're gonna eat.

Did you live near a beach?

Mmm?

No.

You said you were from California.

It's a big state.

I lived close enough.

What was it like?

What does it matter, Charlie?

It doesn't.

You've never been, have you?

To California?

To the beach.

I was supposed to go to Galveston
with my mom and dad.

We had it all planned.

Well, they did.

We were gonna spend the day
on the beach...

Go to the boardwalk at night.

Maybe even go on the roller coaster
at the end of the pier.

But then everything changed.

And...

We all missed out on things, Charlie.

Sometimes when I'm reading,

I just like to close my eyes,

and try to see what I just read about.

But I haven't been able to find
any books about Galveston.

The last time I was at a beach,

it was just like everywhere else.

Filled with the dead.

Just another place that kept you running.

Go get some sleep.

Charlie?

Charlie?

- You can't be in here.
- No.

Get up.

No. No! Someone might come back for them!

- Someone might try to find them.
- Who? Who?

Someone!

Anyone who gave a shit
about these people is dead.

You don't know that!

Look, I'm not trying to
make up for what I did.

Okay? I know that I can't.

I know I'm garbage. But I'm doing this.

Do whatever you want.

It's not gonna make you
feel better about any of it.

The wind's getting stronger.

Charlie. Charlie, look.

I know what you're trying to do.

No one's gone until they're gone.

I've been trying to believe it, too,

to feel better about what I've done,
but I can't.

Because sometimes when you're gone,
you're just gone.

Okay? And these people
are definitely gone.

These pictures aren't gonna change that.

Why do you care?

The basement.

Come on.

We're not getting out, are we?

Not through there.

What do we do?

There.

That's our way out.

Charlie, over here.

We're just gonna have to wait it out.

We'll get out.

I don't want to die!

I know.

I don't want to become one of them.

I saw my parents after they turned.

I didn't think it was real.

And they came back.

Like that.

I'm sorry.

I try to remember
what they looked like before, but...

I can't.

I just can't.

I wish I had a picture of them.

Do you still have the gun?

No. No. I can't. I can't.

No, Alicia. I can't end up
like them! I can't.

I don't want to end up like them!

- I can't.
- Your mom, your brother...

- They're all gone because of me!
- Stop it!

- I took them away from you!
- Stop it! Charlie!

No! I'm not doing it!

We're not gonna make it.

We're gonna make it out.
We're going to make it out.

- We're not. And you know that.
- We are.

We won't! You know that!
So please just do it!

Just do it!

I know that you want to.

I can't end up like them! I just can't.

I can't!

I can't!

I'm sorry. I can't.

I can't. I can't.

What was that?

Something fell on the door.

Charlie, push!

Alicia, look.

He fell on the door.

He saved us.

Did you do that for me or you?

I did it for the people
who could come back.

I found this in the house.

You keep it.

So, you're good at finding things?

Yeah.

I can see her in you.

Even if you can't.

She's there.

I left Morgan alone in the storm.

I walked away from him.

I walked away from all of them.

I'm good at finding things.

Close your eyes.

Why?

I'm gonna take you to the beach.

I didn't say it before, but it's one of
my favourite places to go.

You're in the car. The windows are down.

You can feel the air. It's soft.

It smells like salt.

That's how you know you're close.

Then you hear the waves.

And you see the beach.

You take off your shoes.

Put your feet on the sand.

You can feel the sand in between your toes
as you walk towards the water.

And when you go in, it's cold at first.

But the longer you stay in,

the more you don't want to get out.

And you float.

And you look back at all
the people on the beach.

Are you there?

I'm in the water.

It's really blue.

I'm looking back to shore and...

And what?

I can see them.

My mom and dad. I can...

I can see them again.

Strand?

Luciana?

Luci?

Strand?

Alicia!

We have to find them.

- Charlie.
- No.

We have to find them and help them.

We don't know if they're alive.

They're gone.

Charlie...

Things don't get better.

And they're not going to.

They're only gonna get worse.

Though we're not around to see
how bad they can get.

Come on.
