Falling Skies (2011–2015): Season 4, Episode 7 - Saturday Night Massacre - full transcript

Lexi emerges more powerful and ruthless than ever. Tom and the 2nd Mass must work together with the Volm to hold off the invading Espheni forces in what becomes the bloodiest battle of the series.

[DISTORTED GROANING]

Ripped By mstoll

[GASPS]

ANNE:
Lexi?

Are you all right?

Her eyes.

What happened to her eyes?

TOM: Lexi?
ANNE: Lexi. Oh!

Lexi.

ANNE:
Honey?

Lexi.

[GASPS]

- Mom?
- I'm here. We're both here.

It's me.

- Tom Mason?
TOM: You remember.

I'm your father.

[FOOTSTEPS APPROACHING]

Lexi.

[PEOPLE CHATTERING ANGRILY OUTSIDE]

Is there anything you need?

We're so glad you're all right,
that you're back with us.

- I have to go.
- Go, Lexi?

No, you can't go anywhere until
I've had a chance to calm everybody down.

I could hear them. Their fear, their hatred.
They wanted to hurt me.

- No.
- We didn't know what was going on in there.

People were afraid that you were gonna
come out different, dangerous.

The faithful never believed that,
not for a second.

I am different.
I tried to help those who lived here...

...to make peace with their enemies,
but I see now there's no use.

Humans cannot let go of their warlike ways...

...so it's time for me to leave here.

I don't understand.

You spoke to me when you were
in the cocoon.

You said you would always need your family.

You misunderstood. Not this family.

Your hearts are filled with violence.

I tried to show you another path,
but you don't have the courage to change.

ANNE: What?
LEXI: There's nothing more I can do...

- Lexi.
- ...for any of you.

Wait, please, Lexi.
I never gave up on the dream.

For that,
I will always be grateful to you, Lourdes.

Lexi, you're right. They are afraid of you.
They may try to hurt you.

Let them try.

- Lexi.
- Lexi.

TOM:
Lexi, wait.

ANNE:
Lexi.

[GUNS COCKING]

Don't take another step. I mean it.

Pope, trust me. Don't do it. If she wanted
to hurt us, she would've done it by now.

At every step,
you people respond with violence.

You Masons are always so eager
to make excuses for your own.

I'm leaving. Don't try to stop me.

Lexi, wait. Please, take me with you.

Before I met you, I'd lost everything.

I didn't know who I was anymore,
and you saved me.

You're in so much pain.

These last few months,
you've given me a reason to go on.

Without you, I can't.

I won't. I'm afraid.

Poor Lourdes.
Would you like me to set you free?

Thank you, Lexi.
You know I'll always be beside you.

Yes. Always in my heart, Lourdes.

Breathe deeply.

- Wait. What are you--? What are you doing?
- Don't be scared.

- Lexi. Lexi, stop it.
- Lexi.

[POPE YELLS]

I'm not doing this.

Just let go.

I'm not ready.

You're free.

Somebody take a shot. Aah!

ANNE: Lourdes.
HAL: Lourdes.

ANNE: Lourdes.
- Where'd she go?

She's gone.

ANNE:
It's not fair.

She was so young.

She was just a frightened med student
when she came to work with me.

But she became so much more
than just a friend.

She was my kid sister.

And I loved her.

Goodbye, Lourdes.

I'm so sorry, Hal.

Yeah, well, I think it might be
a little late for that, Dad.

I tried to warn you, and you wouldn't listen.

Because she's a Mason.

She a Mason now? Lexi still family?

Yes, she is.

Well, that's a problem, isn't it?

ANNE:
I'm sorry.

He's wrong.

He's not wrong.
I made a promise to everybody...

...that if Lexi came out dangerous,
I would deal with it.

But I am so conditioned to protect and defend
and rationalize and excuse by rote, it's...

It's poisonous, because regardless
of the fact that I love her...

...we need to look at this, Anne, right now.

- How could she do it?
- I don't know.

Did you see her face?

Lourdes is begging for her life,
and it looks almost as if she's enjoying it.

- Stop.
- I'm not gonna stop.

This is our daughter.

Those monsters, they took control of her,
they're to blame. Lexi didn't do that.

You know it.

And it is because we love her...

...that we are the only ones
that can save her, Tom.

Please.

I hope you're right.

- I love you.
- I love you too.

I just-- I need you to make me a promise.

Just don't quit on us.

I'm not gonna quit.

I couldn't if I tried.

This equipment is not capable
of that kind of analysis.

All I can confirm is that
Lexi has gone through a transformation.

Any sign she's being controlled
the way the Espheni...

...do with the harnesses or eye worms?

This cocoon is like nothing
we've ever encountered...

...and Espheni biotech is still far beyond
our capacity to understand.

We'd settle for a theory.
Come on. We're grasping at straws here.

Well, I believe that Lexi has changed
at the cellular level.

Her human and Espheni DNA strands
have conjoined and become something new...

...and altogether different.

It doesn't explain her becoming an evil thing
capable of killing Lourdes.

- Lexi isn't evil. I don't accept that.
- Well, I don't accept it, either. I don't--

I don't want to.

I've come to know your daughter these past
few months, and I've come to care for her.

It pains me to think
she lost touch with her humanity.

She didn't.

- If she did, then it makes the situation far--
ANNE: You didn't hear me.

I said she didn't lose touch
with her humanity.

She is in there, Roger. Help us.

There's no definitive proof.

No.

And it just makes the situation
far more dangerous.

What your daughter did to Lourdes,
how she did it...

...indicates she's mastering her abilities.
She's becoming more powerful.

And this could be only
the tip of the iceberg.

[DOOR OPENS]

We have a problem.

TOM: What happened?
WEAVER: Anthony was on security sweep.

Apparently he was ambushed.

My recon team and I found him
on our way to camp.

- Who did this to you?
- The cockroaches.

- I was with Bennett. They burned him alive.
- Where did this happen?

Across the bridge
on the other side of the river.

Skitters were on us before we could react.

They took us to their Overlord.

ANNE:
What do you mean they burned him alive?

The Overlord ordered the skitters
to hit him with some kind of flame jet.

I can still hear his screams.

And that bastard, he just watched.

His face was all messed up
like he'd been burned too.

The Overlord from the ghetto,
the one you torched, he's tracked us down.

This is why I have returned, Tom Mason.
Our recon drones alerted us...

...to a large Espheni force gathering
just across the river to the north.

Tell them how you got away.

- They let me go. I don't know why.
- They're sending a message.

When you were the Ghost, you had him
chasing his tail all over the ghetto.

Now that Lexi's gone,
there's no reason for him to hold back.

I suggest we bug out of here before they send
those Beamers in and blow us off the map.

If he was gonna send Beamers in,
we'd be having this conversation in a crater.

This is about payback. This is personal.

It's gonna be a ground game.

Okay. We could use that.

If this invasion is as imminent as you say it
is, it's gonna get ugly around here real fast.

COCHISE:
Here are the current Espheni positions...

...only a few miles away.

Well, looks like your crispy, uh,
Overlord there came loaded for bear.

I count three mech battalions
and at least five skitter platoons.

Right on top of us.
They could attack anytime.

- They could be here in a matter of hours.
- Not if we took out this bridge.

We cut off their approach, force them
to march south and cross at the interstate.

My team has enough explosives
to accomplish that.

- Will it give us time to make a run for it?
- We're not running.

This guy, he's not gonna rest
until he's wiped us off the face of the Earth.

Our best chance is to take a stand here.

This is your bread and butter, Dan.
Call the play.

If we take out that bridge, we'll be forcing
the enemy to come at us the way we want.

Remember Stalingrad,
cities are the graveyards of armies.

The approach from the south
is right through what's left of Chinatown.

My men and I will move
to take out that bridge.

Thank you, Cochise.

Let's go up and take a look at our cards
before we decide how to play them.

They'll be coming from the south.

We'll turn this street into a kill zone.
Funnel them right in here.

Cochise's mission should buy us 12 hours
to get our defenses in line.

We can use all this.

The rebar, the concrete, vehicles
for barricades, anything we can scavenge.

Put smoke pots down both sides
of the street...

...reduce their sight lines,
limit their ability to see us.

HAL: We can set our positions on either side,
get them caught in the crossfire.

- Once that burnt bastard fights his way in...
- He won't be able to get out.

If we had any explosives,
we could mine the street.

I have a better idea. We mine the sky.
Rain thermite down on their heads.

Since when do you know how
to make thermite?

All you need is aluminum, rust,
and lots of luck, Professor Mason.

If Cochise and his team can take out
that bridge, we might have a shot.

We'll get a shot.
We just have to make it count.

All right, so we need aluminum cans
for the thermite, rubber tires...

...roof tar, any gas we have left for smoke.
Smoke is gonna be key.

A lot to do, not a lot of time.

Dingaan, feeling brave today?

No less than yesterday.
No more than tomorrow.

We need a lookout on the far end of the kill
zone to let us know when the enemy's near.

- I take it I'm volunteering.
- Take it any way you want.

Just find a warm body, hoof it over there,
use this to stay in contact.

Hey. Care to stick your ass
into the breeze with me?

Thought you'd never ask.

Is that one ready?

POPE:
Yeah, go ahead. Pour away.

I tell you, it has been a long time
since I have smoked me some skitter.

Nothing like the sound of them
catching a round in the head.

It's like somewhere
between, pfft, popping a balloon...

...and dropping a watermelon off
a freeway overpass.

- There's nothing like it.
- That good, huh?

You know...

...this gas could get us halfway to the Keys.

It's a shame to waste it.

Yeah, well,
it'll also keep these smoke pots burning.

I don't know, I can look pretty smoking
in cutoff jeans and flip-flops.

[CHUCKLING]

And you could get one of these wrecks here
up and running.

I thought you were the one who was
all gung ho about joining the 2nd Mass.

That was before I realized Tom Mason
had an alien faith killer for a daughter.

Welcome to the fun house.

I'm just saying,
maybe we should explore alternatives.

"We"? I may be a lot of things,
but I am not the type to run for the hills.

No hills in Florida.
It's just alligators and Epcot Center.

You'd never make it out of here, darling.

The Masons may have their shortcomings...

...but somehow they've managed
to live to fight another day.

You wanna survive? You stick with them.

I don't believe it.

All I've heard you do ever since we joined
back with the 2nd Mass is bitch and moan...

...but when push comes to shove,
you really care about these people.

The only thing that I care...

...about...

...is killing aliens.

And we are about to have
the mother of all clambakes...

...and I, for one, am not going to miss it.

Okay, badass.

Let the good times roll.

[PEOPLE CHATTERING]

Hey, you strapped? Got some 556.

- Oh, no, thanks, little man. I'm all set.
MATT: Okay.

- Looks like you found a museum piece.
- I liberated this from an antique store.

This baby can throw a 50-caliber bullet
over 1000 yards. After the Civil War...

...folks used these to take down buffalo.
- Never figured you a history buff.

Oh, yeah. I'm gonna teach my own course,
especially for skitters.

[EXPLOSION]

That's Cochise blowing the bridge,
giving us a fighting chance.

Okay, get the word out.

Volm just bought us the time we need.
Let's not squander it.

TECTOR: All right, people, bridge is down.
Let's move.

BEN:
How's it going?

It's peachy.

If I set these thermite charges right, the first
wave of mechs are gonna get a slag bath.

- Saved you the last of the ammo.
- Give it to someone else. I don't need it.

You're turning down extra ammo?

I'm on recon. Here.
You can use it more than I can.

- Well, stay safe.
- Yeah, you too.

Maggie.

Ben.

Good luck.

I didn't hear anyone send you on recon.

They didn't. I'm going after Lexi.

Why?

- We need you here.
- I know Dad and Weaver have a solid plan...

...but we could lose a lot of good people.
Lexi can stop that.

I can get through to her. She's still a Mason.

- I think you should talk to Dad about that.
- Not a word to anyone. Promise.

All right.

- Wish me luck.
- Okay.

Mind if I set up post here?

For what it's worth...

...I don't think we can hold Lexi responsible
for what went down with Lourdes.

- Responsibility is not the issue.
- Okay. What is?

Love.

Espheni use it against us all the time.

Because we love,
we don't do what's necessary.

We make excuses.

We forgive, we look the other way.

Love destroys our judgment,
our ability to see clearly.

So we're just supposed
to stop loving each other.

We can't afford to be sentimental.

If somebody falls under the influence
of the Espheni...

...if they get a bug...

...they need to be terminated immediately.

If I'd taken that attitude,
you wouldn't be here.

And I wouldn't have handed my sister
over to Karen.

Okay, so you're gonna take that on too.
Everyone's death is your fault. Come on, Hal.

What happened to Lourdes was awful.

But she put herself next to Lexi, not you.

Hal, it's not love we need to kill.

It's them.

ANNE: Cochise taking out that bridge
worked like a charm.

The Espheni forces are looping south.

- Where do we stand with our defenses?
WEAVER: Hal and Maggie...

...got the kill zone locked down.

Crossfire emplacements are set.

Pope and Sara have got smoke pots
ready to be lit.

Guess we're as ready as we can be.

WEAVER: We need to move everybody back
behind the main barricade.

That's where we'll make our last stand
if it all goes sideways.

Now, Dingaan and Denny
are in the forward position...

...ready to warn us
when the Espheni are near.

I think we should send men to scout.

TOM:
Yeah. Go find your brother.

Uh, Ben made me promise
not to tell you, but, uh...

...he left to find Lexi.

He thinks he can convince her
to come back and help us.

I should've stopped him.

[TOM SIGHS]

TOM: No, once your brother makes
his mind up, there's no stopping him.

He's his father's son.

But he was right about the skitter rebellion.

Maybe he knows something about Lexi
we don't.

- Do you think she'll hurt him?
- No way.

Never gonna happen.

The aliens did something
to my Jeannie's DNA too, Matt.

They turned her into a creature
that I could hardly recognize.

But still, there was something I saw,
something I felt.

They couldn't change
what was true inside her.

She was still my little girl.

She knew I was family.

They couldn't break that thread.

And that same thread's still in your sister.
I know that.

Thanks.

DINGAAN:
Ah, there's just no comparison.

I wasn't comparing.
I'm saying freestyle is improvisation.

I heard you, but I disagree, huh?

Jazz is improvisation.

Anyone with a drum pad
and a rhyming dictionary can rap.

Well, everyone's entitled
to their opinion, right?

Except people who are wrong.

Well, I'd rather be wrong than listen to jazz.

- What planet did you grow up on, huh?
- Brooklyn.

[DINGAAN SCOFFS]

That explains a lot.

- Whoa.
- What?

Did you hear that?

No. Nothing.

There's so many.

Too many.

It's the Overlord.

You know that saying,
"It's darkest before the dawn"?

- Sure.
- Let's pray it's true.

POPE:
Just get them burning and go.

This entire area is about to become
combat central.

- Yeah, all except for the fallout shelter.
- Shelter?

Yeah, you didn't notice that room the
brain trust keeps meeting in used to be one?

Be a great place to wait out this crap storm.

Like I said, it's about to become
open season on skitters.

I'm not going anywhere.
You're gonna love it.

Okay, you know what I said
about living each day like it was my last?

- I really don't want today to be that day.
- Don't think that. It's gonna be fine.

You're gonna be great.
I'll get you through it, all right?

[ROARING]

What are you people doing?
Get back behind the barricade.

Get--

The Espheni are on the attack. Come on.

When they see that we mean no harm,
we will be spared.

- Like hell you will. Now, go.
DENNY: Come on.

- Come on.
DENNY: Hurry.

- Go.
DENNY: Dingaan, come on.

We have to get out of here.

- Dingaan.
- No!

- Come on.
- No.

DENNY:
No.

- Come on.
- No. No.

DINGAAN: Hold your fire! Don't shoot!
There are people back there!

Who? Everybody is supposed
to be behind the barricade.

A group of Lexi's followers.

- We have to go back and get them.
- They're gone.

There's nothing we can do. Get over here.
Get over here.

Get down.

[FOOTSTEPS THUDDING]

[FOOTSTEPS STOP]

All right, here they come.

Now.

Come on, come on, come on.

[SCREECHING]

Burn, baby, burn.

Get down.

Fall back. Fall back. Fall back.

I'll catch up.

[SCREECHING]

How am I doing?

You're doing great.
Next time, try it with your eyes open.

[ROARING]

[GUNSHOT]

You're welcome.

MAN: Hold your fire.
- Oh, jeez.

MAN:
Hey, Crosby, there's more coming.

[TECTOR CHUCKLES]

- What's that smell?
- What?

I love the smell of dead skitter
in the morning.

Very original.

That's gas. We got a busted gas line.

Everybody out!
The gas main is gonna blow!

Go, or you're gonna go up
like a Viking funeral.

TECTOR:
Everybody out!

POPE:
Out! Gas leak!

MAGGIE:
I got your back!

[SCREECHING]

Sara.

Sara.

Oh, God. You okay? Sara, you okay?
You hit?

Are you hit?

I'm sorry.

It just wasn't as much fun as you promised.

Hey.

All these people just gone.

[SOBBING]

It's okay.

- I don't wanna fall apart on you. I'm sorry.
- No, no, you are not falling apart on me.

Hey, you did great. You did fine.

- What the hell?
- What happened out here?

Go see who needs help over there.

- Hal.
HAL: And Maggie.

Maggie. Have you seen Maggie? I told her
to fall back before the whole street blew up.

- What happened?
- Gas line. The whole street went.

TOM: Are you hurt?
HAL: No, no. Just got something in my eye.

DINGAAN: Help.
- Easy, easy, easy. I got her. Here.

- Maggie!
WEAVER: Bring her over here. Bring her here.

When it blew, she dove in front of me.
Sheltered me with her body.

We need to stop the bleeding.

- How--? How does it heal so fast?
- Spiked kids are tough. Get her out of here.

- You had to ruin my best pair of jeans?
- Come on.

Let's get all these wounded to the courtyard.

WEAVER:
You got her? Up.

If there's any upside,
a lot of skitters and mechs got it too.

There'll be more. That Volm device said
there are three battalions across the river.

The next will be here any minute.

We gotta hurry. We gotta split up.

- Hal, come on. With me.
- Matt, with me.

MATT: Okay.
- Wait, wait.

HAL: Maggie.
TOM: Hal. Hal.

I just gotta tell you something.

I just-- I just wanna say that I'm sorry.
I never should've promised...

...I could protect everybody from Lexi.
This is on me. It was on me.

Nobody can be right all the time, Dad.

I love you. Doesn't matter if you're right
or if you're wrong. I don't care.

Maggie!

ANNE:
Tom.

Everyone at the barricade
caught the full brunt of the blast.

They're all gone.

[PANTING]

What do you think you're doing?

I need your help. Soon as you left,
the Espheni surrounded us.

Your father is consumed
with hatred for the Espheni.

Dreams of killing them,
especially the one he burned.

Now he'll get his chance.

And he'll die doing it,
along with the rest of your family.

I offered them peace,
but they chose violence.

You think you know them, but you don't.
Before the war, Dad never even held a gun.

He never raised his hand in violence.

The same is true of Matt and Hal
and your mother.

She was a doctor. She healed people.

You really do love them, don't you?

- We have to go back. We have to help them.
- Go back?

No. You've come this far...

...there must be a reason.

Come with me, Ben.

TOM: One hundred souls reduced to 30
in a matter of minutes.

ANNE:
Less than 20 are able to fight.

WEAVER:
We were winning until that gas main blew.

POPE: You said you had this French fry
where you wanted him.

So, what's the plan now?

We all just sit around here until the
cockroaches nuke our little vacation spot?

He's not gonna nuke us. Not yet.
He wants me alive.

POPE: Here's an idea. Why don't you
get out there and take one for the team?

Because as soon as he knows I'm dead,
his Beamers are gonna bomb this place flat.

POPE: Oh, I'm sorry. So,
what you're saying then...

...is that this doesn't end
until we all are dead?

Yes, Pope. We all have to die.

In 10 to 20 minutes, the next wave of Espheni
are gonna come marching in here...

...and we need to make them think
that we are all dead.

We have to hide.

We have to convince them that
when the gas main blew, it took us all out.

The fallout shelter.

If we're all down there,
this place will look like a ghost town.

That's a good idea.

We do one last sweep for survivors.

Everyone underground.

- Let's go. Let's go.
- Ten minutes! Move out!

Evacuating. Keep moving out of the building
to the shelter. We gotta move, doc, now.

ROGER: I heard. I've gotta get Lexi's samples.
- We don't have time for that.

If I'm gonna be able to find out what's
happening to her, I'll have to study these.

Doc?

ROGER:
What?

You'd think that would hurt.

- Aah.
WEAVER: Whoa, whoa, whoa.

- Let's go. Let's go.
WEAVER: Hey, Anne. Uh...

ANNE:
Keep going, you guys.

- Go to the shelter.
- Easy, easy.

Roger, you're gonna be okay.

[CHUCKLES]

Is this it?

[CHUCKLES]

Well, I was a walking dead man
when you found me anyway.

Dr. Glass, Lexi's samples.

I wasn't able to save her,
maybe someone else can.

- Oh, Roger.
- Okay.

- Thank you.
- I never told you...

...Lexi has the same color eyes
as my daughter.

Just tell her I wasn't able...

...to do more for her, and I'm sorry.

It's you, Tom. Don't you let her go.
You find a way...

...and you...

You bring her back.

He's gonna pay for this.

MAN: Come on.
WOMAN: I'm coming.

ANNE:
Everyone down there?

Still waiting for Pope and Sara,
Hal and Maggie.

- Don't worry. They'll be here.
TOM: Go on in. Everybody go inside.

- I'm gonna put debris around this entrance.
TECTOR: Hold up. Where are you gonna be?

- I'm gonna be up there.
- What are you gonna be doing up there?

Gonna send a message to an old friend.

- We have a plan.
- We always have a plan.

There are people depending on you,
people who need you.

There always are.

The Espheni keep killing them
right in front of me.

Day after day,
they keep backing us into a corner...

...pushing us until we do things
that we never thought we would do.

The plan is I'm gonna take this rifle...

...and I'm gonna go up there
and I'm gonna kill him.

All due respect,
you ain't never gonna make that shot.

The Overlord doesn't come within 400 yards.

And that rifle of yours
can't hit crap past 300.

Let me do it.

This Sharps has been dropping folks
at 700 yards since 1874.

It has the reach, I got the skills.
This is what I do.

Then you can teach me how to use it.

That's an order.

This is between me and him.

Everybody else can take the night off.

TOM: Cock it. Pull the back trigger
and that sets the front trigger.

TECTOR:
Yup. All you gotta do is touch it.

Hammer's supposed to fall, right?

Yeah. It probably got some crud in the action
from the fight. Here, give it?

Yeah.

Yeah.

[GUN COCKS]

Listen, Tom, I may be way out of line here...

...but right now you are way too emotional
to make this shot.

You're right. You're out of line.

Okay. Well, I gotta tear
this whole thing down.

You know, there is a can of oil in the closet
downstairs where I got them tools.

- I'll get it.
- All right.

I'm gonna have this thing
working slicker than eel crap.

[EXHALES SHARPLY]

POPE: Dingaan.
- Hurry.

- Did you see anyone else out there?
- Alive?

POPE: Saving the best for last.
DINGAAN: Okay, hurry. Hal.

- Is Maggie down there? I looked everywhere.
- I just got here. She could be. Get inside.

Hey, you watch. I'm gonna be right back.

DINGAAN:
For as long as I can.

[DOOR CLOSES]

Maggie?

Hal. You're here. All right, good.

Has anybody seen Maggie?

[FOOTSTEPS THUDDING]

- I gotta get Maggie.
- No, no, no. Mechs are on top of us.

- Hal. Hal.
- I gotta get Maggie.

No, Hal.

I'm sorry, soldier. I'm sorry.

[FOOTSTEPS THUDDING]

WEAVER:
It's the next wave, they're here.

[PEOPLE MURMURING]

[COCKS]

[BULLET RICOCHETS]

[GROWLING]

[LAUGHING]

Tick, tick. Boom.

Did it work? Do they think we're dead?

We'll know soon enough, son.

Dad?

He's gonna be okay. Trust me.

And you mark my words...

...we're gonna come out of this hole swinging,
and he's gonna be waiting topside...

...with another plan of action
in that stubborn old head of his.

[PANTING]

[EXHALES SHARPLY]

Tector...

...you stupid son of a bitch.
