You know, I don't think
I've ever seen you wearing them.

Paleontologists discovered it
way up north where it's colder.

I wonder how
the Nanuq keeps warm

could help us
keep warm.

We have a lot of feathers,

Is that how we stay warm?

of feathers under the top one!

I wonder if your
layers of feathers

are what keep you warm.

[roars]

and grandma will know.

The super is on her way
to fix the furnace.

Oh, I hope she
gets here soon.

Saara, Grandma.
I need your help.

The Nanuqsaurus has
two layers of feathers.

Dinosaurs have feathers?

Some of them do but
I didn't know

they had two
different types.

Sounds like a duck
or a goose.

Oh, here we are.

See, Dana.

Birds like ducks
and geese

have different layers
of feathers.

They have waterproof
layers on top to keep them dry

and downy feathers underneath
to keep them warm.

That explains how
the Nanuq stays warm.

It gives me an idea for how
we can stay warm too!

How?
We don't have feathers.

But we do have layers.

I feel pretty toasty
in all my winder gear.

Dromaeosaurus.

Dromae's have feathers
like the Nanuqsaurus does

but their name means
running lizard

so maybe they also
stay warm by running.

I'm going to do more
investigating out there.

It's Dromaeosaurus time.

Dromaeosaurus
is going into the shed.

Why?

the Dromae go now?

Is it warmer in there?

Only one way to find out.

It is way warmer in here!

That means the Dromaeosaurus
doesn't keep warm by running

but by making a den.

Smart thinking, Dromae.

The Dromaeosaurus keeps
even warmer than the Nanuqsaurus

by building a den.

make dens.

Bears, foxes, penguins.

Saara, let's build a den
to keep warm.

going to do that?

Just like it worked
for the Dromaeosaurus.

dinos with feathers.

keep warm in the winter.

you work on our den.

I'm going to do some
more investigating.

It's Incisivosaurus time.

We are going to need more
pillows and blankets.

And more marshmallows.

[laughs]

I wonder if standing together
is how Incisivosaurus keep warm.

There's only
one way to find out.

This is the warmest

technically be flowers

but for us volunteer
gardeners they're weeds

and they spread like crazy.

they've stuck around

for 30 million years.

plants are that old.

Well, actually I
invited you down here

because I want to show you
something that's even older

and we're moving.

the dandelion

is over 30 million

is sometimes called
a living fossil

because it's over
270 million years old.

Some paleontologists
think there are dinos

that ate fruit and nuts.

dinos eat flowers?

I don't know
but I'd love to find out.

Well we're going to
have to find out later

because the garden's
open in 20 minutes

and I'm going to
need your help

weeding all these
dandelions, okay?

So, let's go get our gear.
And we're hurrying.

Well I'd like to hear it, dear,

replace this cycad

and we open
in 15 minutes

prehistoric plant, didn't you?

Sauropods like you
had long teeth

which are perfect for pulling
leaves right off the plant.

the other dinos are eating.

First my cycad is eaten
and now these trees

are all sliced up.

What's going on in here?

[whispers]
Dinosaurs.

I'm pretty sure
it's dinosaurs.

Alright, okay now
we only have ten minutes

before the gardens open.

I'm going to get my gear
to clean this up.

and the Hippodraco.

The Dracorex
is about my height

with a head
full of bony spikes

that would have cut these leaves
as it came through.

I guess paleontologists

Some dinosaurs do

Well I'm going to lose my apron
and buttons over this one.

I just got the Dracorex
out of here which means

this is definitely the work
of the Hippodracco.

There's a hippo
in here now?

Not a hippo.
A hippodraco.

It's name means horse
dragon because.

I'll tell you
what, sweetie.

You look out for
the hippohorse

because I've got to
replace the magnolia,

get all
the weeding done.

We've only got five minutes
before we open.

And, we're panicking.

I don't see
the Hippodraco.

[rustling]

Now I just have to
get you out of here but how?

You've already eaten
all the magnolias

so there's no more
flowers left.

dandelion over there, friend.

[growls]

Nice job, Hippodraco.
That's almost all of them.

Oh, those ones over there.

Good job, buddy.
Let's keep going.

The dandelions
are all gone.

some dinosaur help.

The Hipposaurus?

I learned
he eats flowers

and since dandelions
are technically flowers-

You got him to eat
the dandelions.

Smart plan!

[watch beep]

Oh, and we're opening.

[all growl]
