Destination Fear (2019–…): Season 1, Episode 10 - Pennhurst State School - full transcript

The team faces their biggest paranormal challenge yet when they roll up to an abandoned asylum in Pennsylvania. The hissing, violent entities within leave them wondering if they'll ever ...

The final stop will be a
place that requires us to use

Everything that we've learned up
until this point.

If there are energies
that linger,

That would be a place.

I am not staying here.

I just saw a place

We wouldn't
put our dog for the weekend.

Do you want us to leave?
"yes."

It is known as a hotbed
of paranormal activity.

Staff would remove all
the teeth of patients,

Throw them across the room,
and beat them.

What was that?

I've heard growls
and scary screams.

Dude, what the ****!

I feel like we're being taunted.

My name is dakota laden.

I am a documentary filmmaker.
For the past few years,

I've been investigating
the paranormal with zak bagans

And the "ghost adventures" crew.

Dakota laden.
Welcome, buddy.

I grew up in a house where
paranormal activity

Terrorized my entire family.

It has gripped my sister
and my childhood best friend

And me ever since,

So I had an idea,

A psychological experiment

Where I would test how terror
affects the human mind,

What it reveals about
our true selves,

And just how much
that a person can withstand.

To understand the paranormal,

First we need
to overcome our fear.

I'm leading us on a road trip
to explore

The most haunted abandoned
locations in all of america.

Each night, we'll separate
and sleep alone.

The catch is I'm the only one
who knows where we're going.

We are on our way
to pennsylvania.

We're heading to a location
that myself

And tanner have actually
been to before.

Four years ago,
this place really affected us

And it has stayed
with us ever since.

What was that?

This was an institution
for pennsylvania's mentally

And physically
disabled persons.

What ended up happening
to the residents

Was nothing short of torture.

They weren't getting the care
that they needed.

Due to the patient abuse,

It is known as a hotbed
of paranormal activity.

I selected this to be
our final stop

Because this will be a place
that requires us to use

Everything that we've learned up
until this point.

It's easy to get scared,

But we have to remember
to be respectful

And just really remember
what happened there.

We're at the finish line.

We almost there.
We almost did it.

And I didn't think
I could do it.

I really didn't think
I could do it.

This has been such an intense,

Intense road trip,
and we're not even done.

I realized that every
single person

Reacts to fear differently.
- Yeah.

Tanner gets really protective
and you stand up to it.

Hello? Who is there?

I don't want to see you guys
getting hurt.

Dakota, you-

I just yell, "shut up. Shut up.
Shut up. Shut up."

Stop. Please stop
making noises.

Then alex tries to make sense
of the situation like,

"why did this happen?"

Okay, so that sounded like
another cell door shutting.

Are you trying
to get my attention?

Hello?

Then there's me
that just screams.

Guys, I'm scared!

If something creepy happens
and it's a scary situation,

One scream out of your mouth

And it's game over
for all of us.

That's so scary
when you scream.

Yeah, I get way more scared
when chelsea screams.

Yeah.
They're the worst.

We're about, like, 20 minutes
from a campground

Where we can make a fire.

Let's have s'mores,
have some fun,

And then eventually once
we're settled in

And the fire's roaring,
I can give you guys the packet.

Way to ruin it already.

I'm just the bearer of bad news
this whole trip.

I just realized it's the bearer
of bad news,

Not the bear of bad news.

Bearer.
I literally have these things --

Is this for real?

...That I've learned
my whole life

And I've just never
questioned them,

And that was one of them.

What's another one?

The ghost is clear,
and it's the coast is clear.

The ghost is clear?
That's actually hilarious.

All right. Let's see here.

How do we set up a fire?
It's been a minute.

I like the lincoln log
technique.

Get deep in there.

- Yes.
- Yeah, look at that.

We got fire.
This is nice, tanner.

Without you, we wouldn't
have had a fire.

Thank you, tanner.
Wow. Thank you, guys.

And without me, we wouldn't
have had this terrible,

Terrible road trip to hell.

Are you going to tell us --

Yeah. Literally, yeah.
...Why we're here or not?

When are we going?
When are we going to find out?

I thought we were having fun.
I want to know.

Okay. I'm going to go get
the packet. I'll be right back.

Why would he pick a place
that will end on this note?

What we've experienced,
what we've gone through

Is all leading up to being
able to handle this location.

All right.
I got the packet right here.

This is it.
This is our last packet read.

So, I've done a lot of research
about this location,

And there are many people

Who have some
very terrifying claims.

Chelsea, do you want
to start us?

Let's do it. You ready?

Not really.

Pennhurst!
Pennhurst state school?

No way.

Me and tanner got to experience
pennhurst four years ago,

And I think this is the perfect
place for us to go back,

Especially for our last stop.

This is the one location
that gave me nightmares

For months straight.

Literally known as the shame
of pennsylvania,

Pennhurst state school

Is one of the most frightening
places in the united states.

Hidden away deep in the woods
of spring city, pennsylvania,

Pennhurst sits a sprawling
campus of 30 buildings

Spread across 1,400 acres.

It was its own
self-sufficient community,

Cut off from the outside world.

During its 80-year run,

Nearly 10,500 patients
were treated at pennhurst,

Most of them horribly.

My first job out of college

Was to do this research
of facilities

That supported people
with developmental disabilities.

The first one I picked
was pennhurst,

And I drove home crying.

I just saw a place
with more than 3,000 people

Where we wouldn't put
our dog for the weekend.

When pennhurst first opened
in 1908,

It housed the deaf,
blind, mute,

And low-iq'd persons
from across pennsylvania;

But as the years went by,

It eventually housed
criminals and orphans too.

It didn't matter
how old you were.

If you did not fit in society,
you were dumped here.

Right away from 1908 onward,

Pennhurst began a long climb
of overcrowding,

Which never ended
until closure.

By the 1960s,

Pennhurst housed
2,791 people, 900 over capacity.

Overwhelmed parents would drop
off their children for treatment

And never return,

Making them wards of the state.

Children that came
into pennhurst

Probably experienced
extreme nervousness.

I guarantee
they were frightened.

I think most deeply of
a friend of mine who said,

"I went out there.
My mother and sisters drove me,

And it was big
and it was scary.

I was terrified, and I never
stopped being terrified."

Due to the lack of funding,

There were severe human
right violations

And mistreatment
of patients.

It's something about
human nature, I think.

When you put people
into an isolated

Setting in a situation

Where other people
have power over them

And they can hide what's
happening, bad things happen.

Patients were chained
to their adult-sized cribs

In seclusion rooms
when the staff was overwhelmed.

Staff would remove all the teeth
of patients who bit,

And it happened
so often visitors

Would find teeth
in the tunnels.

They took out patients' teeth?

This place is
absolutely horrible.

Staff members
would rape patients,

Throw them across the room,
and beat them.

Don't even want to comment
on that. That's just disgusting.

Nasty residents would attack
other patients

With broom handles or worse.

When you're overcrowded

And your beds
are six inches apart

And you're an adolescent,
there's 50 of you in one room,

What do you
suppose happens?

Anything you can think of
when it comes to horrible stuff,

They were the first ones
to do it.

In 1968, reporter bill baldini
did a five-night news piece,

"suffer the little children."

Bill baldini walking in showed

Everyone exactly
what was happening.

And his cameraman,
he literally walked in,

Walked out,
and vomited all over the walkway

Because he could not
stand the stench.

Pennhurst finally
closed its doors in 1987

Because of more
than a decade of lawsuits.

When people think
of pennhurst now,

The first thing that comes
to their head is,

"that place is haunted."

Nearly every building on the
grounds is connected by tunnels

And is affected
by paranormal activity.

The devon building,
the largest building on campus

With five floors
and 100,000 square feet.

Devon is a former
patient dormitory.

I've heard growls and weird,
scary screams.

I've never, ever gotten
a good feeling

In any of those buildings.

The second you get on this
property,

It just overwhelms you
with this darkness.

It's terrible.

The mayflower building.

If there are energies
that linger,

That would be a place.

You can scream bloody murder.

No one can hear you
on the first floor,

Or any of the floors,
for that matter.

The basement.
There is a malevolent,

Aggressive male spirit and
named king in the boiler room.

He was a maintenance man
on the property.

We have evps interacting
with the king.

He is a very angry spirit.

King is also prone
to pulling women's hair

And attacking the biggest guy
in the group,

Pushing and scratching them.

So, you and me.

Pretty much.

Emily's room.

Emily is the spirit
of a former patient

Who is very playful
with visitors.

I brought a group up,

And then the guy comes running
out of the room screaming.

He goes, "there's a little girl
in that room,"

And I was like, "what?"

So, I just took off
down the hallway,

And then as soon as
I stepped foot in the door,

My bones froze.

I've had numerous recordings
with her.

I've caught her saying,
"I love you, nick."

That happens to me,
I'm going to cry.

Yeah.
The third floor.

I can tell you that
every alpha male

That we brought up
onto that floor

Had some type
of physical experience,

Even up to getting
violently sick.

I've been pushed down those
flight of stairs numerous times.

I've been pushed up
going those stairs.

One visitor claims that a 6'2"
apparition lunged at him.

I've seen a man
about 6'3", 240,

I've seen him levitate
off the ground,

Grabbing at his neck.

He became overwhelmed
and had to be carried out.

Make sure you have
a backup plan.

Make sure you have access
to reach somebody

And to reach
somebody quickly.

I don't think I would ever
want to spend the night

In pennhurst alone.

The things I've seen, I'll pass.

It doesn't feel like
we're the only ones down here.

No, not at all.
I feel like we're being taunted.

Spiritually, emotionally,
and physically,

This is going to be
our biggest test yet, I think.

We just cannot walk
through those doors tonight

Without having
that ultimate respect

For the history
that has happened there.

Exactly. So, right now
we're going to go to a park

And meet
with a lady named jean.

Jean was institutionalized

She wasn't institutionalized
at pennhurst,

But she was at
a very similar location

Where she experienced
the same type of treatment,

The abuse, trauma.

Jean is a part of the pennhurst
memorial alliance.

She's one of the co-founders,
and the mission is to promote

An understanding
of the struggle for dignity

And full civil rights
for persons with disabilities.

That's amazing.

So, she's basically
being a voice

To those who didn't have one.

Yes, 100%.

That is absolutely amazing.

It is.

- There she is.
- Hello.

Hi, jean. I'm dakota.
Nice to meet you.

I'm jean.

Nice to meet you, jean.
Nice to meet you guys, too.

We have a lot to talk
about here.

What was it like being a patient
at an institution

That was similar to pennhurst?

Well, as they say now,
we're out of sight, out of mind.

You had to do
what they told you to

Or there was going to be
harsh punishment.

They would put you
in a chair in the corner

And they put those
heavy duty load --

Like restraints that are,
like, scratchy and all that?

Yes. They would tie that behind
your back so hard

That the blood was not
flowing through your whole arms.

It was something

That I would never
want to go through ever again.

And you believe that same
kind of stuff

Was happening at pennhurst
when it was running at the time?

Yes.

Can you just tell us
the story

Of how you helped get
pennhurst shutdown?

So I went out to the courthouse.

I was talking to the judge
about the abuse

And my story
was so powerful to him

That he decided to close
the institution permanently.

Wow.

I just want to make sure

That this never happens again
to anybody.

And if it wasn't for my story,

I think it will
still be open today.

Do you believe that a place
like pennhurst

Could potentially be haunted
with spirits?

Yes.

Can you tell us
any stories like that?

No. I think I'd rather
leave you guys hanging.

Thank you so much.

I'm so sorry
what you had to go through.

Thank you so much.

It's just eye opening.

You are an amazing woman, jean.

Thank you, jean.
Thank you for your time.

I appreciate it....

Bye, jean!
Take care, jean!

Bye, thank you!

She painted pictures so
vividly that you could sense

The tragedy
that went into this institution.

She has literally changed
so many lives

And it's just so sad to know

That she was
at one time silenced.

Glad we did this because
a couple hours from now

We are going to be
arriving at pennhurst

For our last
and final overnight.

It sounds like there

Is just an incredible
amount of energy there.

I just know we're in for a
really, really intense night.

All right you guys,
we're getting close.

Our last stop.

Man.

I honestly had reoccurring
nightmares about this place.

And now we're back.

Are you fricking kidding?
I am not staying here.

All right you guys,
let's get out.

I don't want to get out.

I already have
a horrible feeling.

Just a huge knot
in my stomach.

I'm so uneasy right now.

This is the mayflower
right here.

Are you seeing this?

I'm seeing this.

We are surrounded
by buildings right now.

You guys ready to go in?

After you, chels.

Right now we are
in the mayflower building.

This is the building that me
and tanner were in last time.

This is the only building
we were in last time.

I'm really not looking forward
to this,

But this is going to be
an amazing challenge.

Are the tunnels opened?

Yeah, dude, those tunnels
creeped me out so bad last time

But we didn't even
get to go in.

This is where they would
take patients

And abuse them,
sexually assault them.

Rip out their teeth.

There's also said to be
an evil spirit named

King down here,
who doesn't like men.

Can't go any further,
this is where it ends.

We can find it.

Okay.

Is there anybody up here?

I've heard that a little girl
named emily

Is said to haunt
the second and third floor.

I really don't want to go up
to the third floor.

This is where we had all of
our encounters last time.

Yeah, this is the worst floor
out of all of them.

Is there anybody up here?

Can you make a noise?

That came from over here.

That's down the hall.

Hello?

Let's go sit in this room.

I'm going to turn
my flashlight --

there's thunder.

This place is going to be
so charged up

Now that there's a storm.

This is so creepy.

Okay, I'm hearing talking.

What the hell was that?

What the hell was that?

Dude, something's coming up.
What was that?

All right, so we're hearing
stuff on the third floor.

Okay, I'm hearing talking.

What the hell was that?

What the hell was that?

Dude, something's coming up.

What was that?

I'm hearing talking.

What the hell was that?

My heart is pounding, like,

I'm freaking out to be honest.

I don't even want to move.

I do not know what that was.

That sounded like it came
from the staircase

Over in this direction.

It's been 20 minutes now and
we haven't heard anything since,

So we're going
to keep moving.

There's just too much
to see here.

Right now, I got the music box,

This is a device
that we've used many times.

All the music box is,
is a motion detector.

I'm going to set it right there.

We're going to leave,

We're going to go over
to the devon building.

wait, what's going on?

Is there someone trying to play
with the music box?

Can you touch it again?

Dude, no!

Good job.
Can you keep touching it?

Can you keep --

Hold on to it longer.

You're doing
a very good job.

When we do that kind of stuff,

I feel like we're
inviting stuff in that

We shouldn't be inviting in.

That was on command.

Now it stopped,
it's not even doing it anymore.

All right. We're going
to leave this building.

We have a camera up here that'll
pick up everything you do.

All right,
let's get out of here.

So right now we're
walking the campus.

So the devon building is where
a lot of the housing was,

So there's a lot of bedrooms,

So I'm sure a lot of neglect
and torture

Happened right there.

It's so far away.

Yeah, took through
the woods too.

Are you kidding me?

Feel bad, whoever has to sleep
there, in the devon building.

None of us have ever
stepped foot in this building.

There's also a tunnel system
in the basement

That leads to other buildings.
This is going to be cool.

I'm really excited
to see this, it's brand new.

It's disgusting.

What?

My gosh.
You guys, this is so gross.

This is so cool
to see a new spot.

- Honestly.
- I've been waiting for this

For a long time.
- This is amazing, actually.

Is there anybody in here
with us?

We came here
to talk to you.

Chels, do you want
to turn on the ovilus?

Yes, dude, I have it.

Chelsea is going to turn
on the ovilus.

If there's anything in here,
you can use this device

In her hand
to communicate with us.

"down."

Do you want us to go
down to the basement?

Down to the basement?

Do you want us to go down
to the basement?

I was told that about
the paintings in here

And here they are.
The kids used to paint.

- That's so sad.
- It is really sad.

I can't believe the way
they were treated,

That is unbelievable.

My gosh.
The underground tunnel.

My goodness dude.

See how far back
this thing really goes?

Watch your head.

My gosh,
this is so different.

Hello?

Is someone down here with us?

Is there anybody over here?

Can you make a noise
to show us that you're here?

This is creepy.

You can't even see
what's around the corner.

I don't like
this cubicle room

Because you're just trapped
in small little areas like --

What the hell was that?

Was that a whistle?

Was that a whistle?

Did you hear a whistle?

Yes.
It was like...

And something knocked
on this wall!

Trapped in small little areas
like...

What the hell was that?

Was that a whistle?

Small little areas like...

What the...
I feel like we're being taunted.

Hello?

That was a whistle.

For sure.
No question.

And I've heard people say that
they've heard whistling before

And I never, like, knew
it was that prominent.

That was a literal whistle
from that direction.

Where did that come from though?

To be honest with you,

It sounded
like it was right next to us.

Like that almost sounded
like it had to be a human.

Hello?

Can you whistle again?

That was so creepy.

It was like,
as we were talking to it,

It just came over our voices.

We're going to see what happens
when we separate now into twos.

That was the whistle!

That was the whistle again,
dude!

Right now we are about to
split up into groups of twos.

Chelsea and alex are going to go
to the mayflower building,

And me and tanner are going to
go to the devon building.

We're going to see what happens
when we separate now into twos.

I can't believe it's all coming
to an end right now.

This is our last adventuring
before we sleep.

Good luck, chels.
Good luck.

We got a long walk
to the devon building.

- Bye!
- This place is super active.

Last time it was active,
but this is,

It picked up even more
since the last time.

Here we go. Back into the devon.
We left the door open?

Yeah, we did.

Jiminy christmas, dude.

Okay. We are back.

The devon building
is actually over

A 100,000 square feet.

This used to be one of
the main patient dormitories,

It's just falling apart.

We are alone
and in the pitch dark.

Here is just an example.
I'm going to go off ir.

I literally can't
see you at all.

We're basically right around
the corner from the room

Where earlier as a group,
when you heard whistling.

I'm rolling
on a digital recorder.

I have nothing in my hands
that can hear you.

Was that you whistling?
Do you enjoy whistling?

What do you have to say
about this place

Being called
"the shame of pennsylvania"?

We're going in I guess.
You ready?

Let's just get this over with.

We got a fricking music box
on the third floor.

Last time we were up there,
dakota and tanner...

Stirring some stuff up.

Stirring some stuff up.
We're going in there.

We haven't been in there
in a while, so there's that.

The music box.

Right when we get up here,
I'm going to go over there.

Dakota was saying
that there is a girl

Who goes by the name of emily

And she presents herself
when you have toys.

Just like that.

I think it
likes you, chelsea.

What is going on?

Can you go one beat from it
for yes, and two for no?

Do you want us to leave?

Yes. It wants us to leave.

I don't think
we're talking to a kid.

I'm going to sit down
for a second.

Are you the spirit
that doesn't like males?

yes.

You don't want me in here?

Should I leave?

My god.

It was like it was in direct
conversation.

Should I be afraid
to be up here?

I think
it got pissed off.

Whatever it is,
doesn't want me up here.

Honestly, I think
we should go downstairs

And tell dakota and tanner
what just happened.

yes, we should go downstairs.

We just want to talk to you
and let your voices be heard.

Can you make a noise for us
to let us know that you're here?

Yo, dakota, tanner.

What's up?

So I told whatever's up there,
one noise for yes, two for no.

Basically, this thing
did not want me up there.

It kept answering
my questions dead on,

Right after I asked them.

Weird.
Dang, dude, that's, you know,

That's what is said
to be up there

On the third floor
of the mayflower building,

Is a spirit
that doesn't like...

what was that?

That was the whistle again.

That was the whistle!

That was the whistle again,
dude!

Dude, dude, dude.
The whistling!

We just heard
the whistling again!

Are you serious, dude?

One second, one second.

Dude, we just heard the whistle!
Dude, no way!

Yeah. That was so long,

Those cameras had to have
picked it up.

My goodness.

Is a spirit that doesn't like...

What was that?

That doesn't like...

What was that?

Honestly, dude,
that's so weird.

That was loud whistling, came
from right around this corner.

Yup, that's the room
we were in, right there.

No way.

And it came from right
over here somewhere.

There's a staircase here,
right around the corner.

I honestly think
that came from down here.

I have the worst feeling
right now.

Man, we didn't
come down here yet.

Seriously?

Yeah, we haven't been over here.

Hello?

Not many people
have been in here

To do any sort of
paranormal investigating.

We heard whistling!

Can you do that again?

Whistling though, I mean,
I feel like

Some of the children here too,
some of the patients,

Whistling probably
was a very common thing here.

I mean honestly that's some
form of entertainment.

Yeah, okay. Let's keep exploring
the rest of this basement.

Okay.

It doesn't feel like
we're the only ones down here.

No, not at all.

What was that?

That was loud.

Now its letting
itself be known.

What's behind this door?

Whatever that was.
It came from in here.

This is right
by the underground tunnel.

This is where we came earlier.
Does that come from the tunnel?

Did it come from
fricking tunnel dude?

Not at all.

What was that?

Let's double check this tunnel
for a second though.

I don't see anybody in
the tunnel.

Thank god.
This is definitely where

The loud noise came from though.

I think there's something
really bad in these tunnels.

So this is where they would
torture patients, basically.

They got completely taken
advantage of and mistreated.

Fully functioning citizens
who can make a big difference

In the world who were put in,
I consider this like a prison.

That was a hiss.

So this is where they torture
patients, basically.

That was a hiss.

What the hell?

We just heard a hiss!

That was a hiss.

I never heard that in my life.

That didn't sound like
an animal hiss.

I don't know, we haven't seen
any animals down here.

I don't understand
how that happened.

That was freaky,
that was a really freaky.

Yeah.

Screw that dude.

All right, let's go back
to chelsea and alex.

All right, so it is time
for us to go to bed.

Very spread across
this entire location.

We have two
in the mayflower building

And two
in the devon building.

We have the third floor
of the mayflower building,

Where alex and chelsea
were getting direct responses

From the music box.

You don't want me in here?
Should I leave?

We have the underground tunnels
of the mayflower building,

Where, not too long ago,
alex and chelsea heard hissing.

We have the first floor of the
devon building outside the room

Where we heard
the whistling several times.

And we have the second floor
of the devon building

In one of the longer,
creepier hallways.

By the way, none of us
have even explored yet.

So those are our four.

Tanner's going
to write these out

And we're going to
put them in a hat

And that's where we goes sleep
for the rest of the night.

The real question is who wants
to draw first

For our last drawing
of this entire trip?

Anybody? Anyone?

No one wants to,
I'll go first. Frick.

All right, I'm drawing.
I'm drawing.

Devon building, second floor.
That's not bad.

It's actually the best one.

I think that's the best one.

I actually kinda feel
like I did good here.

Okay, tanner's up. Here we go.

Tunnels!

He got
the mayflower tunnels.

The mayflower tunnels, dude.

The entity
that lives down there

Is known to not
like alpha males.

King. His name is king.
That's what they call him.

- All right chelsea's up.
- I don't want the third floor.

I don't want the third floor.
I don't want the third floor.

Why do I feel like
you just got the third floor?

Come on, dude!

That is where we have had
the most activity all night.

Think about it, chelsea.
It wanted you up there.

It didn't want me.

Seriously, I'm not even
cut out for this.

Alex, that means you're
in the devon building with me.

I am in the whistle room.

Alex got the devon building
first floor

Where we heard the whistling.

Okay, well, now it's time

For us to go tuck in
for one last time

On this terrible,
terrible road trip.

Let's do it.

It's the last one,
we got to finish strong.

Okay, so right now,
I'm in the devon building

On the second floor.

We didn't really experience
the second floor that much yet.

All right, I'm going to try my
best to fall asleep.

This is close to where tanner
and dakota heard whistling.

It is dusty.
This was a housing building.

So a lot of the patients
walk these hallways

Every single day
of their live while here.

Love ya.

I did not get a very good
sleeping arrangement tonight.

I would consider this
my last choice honestly.

Go big or go home right?

If there was anyone here
with me,

You could talk to me
through this device in my hand

And I can try my best
to make out

What I think
you might be saying.

I know a lot of torture
and malpractice went on here.

I just wanted to express
my deepest condolences

To those who had to live here
and go through this

And those who
ended up dying here.

It just said "eat,"
and what's very creepy,

I am literally two feet away
from a room full of lunch trays.

There's me, there's lunch trays.

My god, my god,
that's so weird.

It sounds like someone's
walking up the stairs.

Is anyone down here with me?

What is your name?

What the ****?

What is your name?

What is your name?

Those birds are already out
and chirping.

It's so early,
you can hear them.

Listen.

Well, we still have
an hour left.

What the...

Holy ****.

Dakota?

Aah! What the ****?!

What the...?
Holy ****!

Dakota?

what the ****?!

What was that?

What the hell was that?

What was that, al?

That wasn't you?
No.

Grab a camera and come look.

What? That was like the loudest
crashing noise I've ever heard.

My god.

Dakota?

What was that?
What the --

That was between us.

- Is that the fire hydrant?
- Yeah.

Was that there before?
I don't remember.

I don't remember at all.

Maybe it was something falling,

Like something broke in
the building, but...

My god.

Let's just go back to our spots

And see if maybe
it happens again.

I really thought maybe
that was dakota,

Like, tripping on something.

It does suck so bad.

All right, so the sun is out.

We've all been asleep
for several hours now.

It is time to get up.

Hey chelsea, tanner,
this is dakota...

Start getting up right now,
if you want.

We are going to
wrap up over here.

- Thank god.
- I did it!

I still think we're crazy
for doing this.

I was terrified all night.

I can't believe this.
That's over. We're done.

No more. There's no more
sleeping alone.

No more rough nights.

No more unexplained
paranormal activity.

What was that?

What?
That came from over here.

I'm getting the hell
out of here now.

That was freaking weird.

Alex?
Let's get out.

We don't need to prove anymore.
We're done.

Time to get out.

Holy crap.
Look at this.

Look at this, dude!
How did we just sleep in there?

Let's go regroup of chelsea
and tanner

At the mayflower building.

My gosh.

We're done.

We're done.
Freaking did it.

We are done with the worst road
trip of our lives.

I'm really just proud
of how everyone

Was able to tackle this.

I just feel like as a group,
we've all grown a lot.

Although it was fun
and exciting.

We might have some very negative
side effects from this trip

And that's the one part
I'm not looking forward to now

Is going home and having to deal
with what we went through.

This whole trip has really
opened my eyes

And I have
a whole new perspective.

Fear is a much
more powerful emotion

Than people give it credit.

Even though I know that
I was scared most of the time,

I can give myself
a pat on the back.

I was able to do something
that I didn't want do

And I came out,
I think a better person.

I was not sure how this
trip was going to impact me,

But just going through
this much adversity

With the people you really love,
it strengthens that friendship.

This trip has completely
flipped my world upside down

About some of
the paranormal stuff

That we captured, witnessed.

Where you have to keep
asking questions.

The more and more you do this,

The better understanding
you're going to have.

If I can go into this
kind of a skeptic

And come out a believer,
what else is out there?

I really don't know.

At some point once I'm ready,

I want to up the ante.

I have a list of locations
I want to see before I die

And we haven't even been to
even close to half of that list.
