DERBEZ'S SON TALKS
ABOUT THE ACCIDENT
EUGENIO DERBEZ UNDERGOES SHOULDER SURGERY
AFTER SUFFERING AN ACCIDENT.
EUGENIO DERBEZ SUFFERS ACCIDENT:
WILL UNDERGO SURGERY
DERBEZ, "THEY'VE KEPT ME SEDATED,
I'VE BEEN ASLEEP THE LAST FEW WEEKS."
-I'll show you.
-What you see there…
that looks so…
Those things there. That's just…
There are about…
-I think they are…
-...fourteen nails?
Yeah, I think there are
about 20 screws in total.
They're not nails, they're screws.
That's a picture of one of the plates
with the 14 screws or nails,
whatever they are.
That's it, sorry.
Hugs and kisses to everyone.
And I'll see you soon.
TRAVELING WITH THE DERBEZES
THREE MONTHS LATER
We're here.
Thank you.
Come, Aitana.
Come, my love.
-Let's go!
-Nice place.
Yes, I think so.
Let's go!
Are you all right?
Thanks, I can do it on my own!
Tell him, "I know."
Ready.
Hey, you won't believe this.
What?
No, you won't believe it.
Stop, I don't believe you.
Kill Bill was shot here.
-Shut up!
-Really?
-Really. I checked.
-For real?
They shot Kill Bill here.
-I'm coming!
-No, sorry.
You hurt your shoulder, not your foot.
Still, wait for me, don't be like that.
What if I trip over?
-That's enough.
-Slowly.
Be brave.
It's a nice place, right?
It's really cool.
-Thanks.
-Did you see the fish?
-Yeah.
-Do they cook them?
Let's see.
Sit down, I can take off my own jacket.
-So that's how it'll be.
-Hey, I'm right here.
-No, but my lazy kids…
-Who said that?
My God!
Can't you guys say,
"Dad, do you need any help?"
-Dad, want me to pass the salt?
-What do you need?
You've made me salty enough.
More?
The one who caused
the accident should help.
The media says
your son tried to get rid of you.
Is it true?
I read interviews that said,
"A contact told me."
"I have a reliable source."
-Trustworthy.
-Someone close to them.
"They argued
and that's why aren't talking anymore."
-Really?
-I was like, "Dude, you have no idea.
"I don't even know you."
And then…
This is a complicated career
and I think people care more
about the bad than the good.
And so gossip spreads everywhere.
It gets all over the news.
Tell me in full detail
how the accident happened.
-Yes, please.
-Okay.
Vadhir surprised me by taking me there.
He told me it was an Airbnb.
So, we get to the house
and I say, "This is really nice."
So, I started taking pictures
of everything,
because it was really nicely decorated.
-And it was his first house.
-Yes.
I said, "Welcome to my home."
And he was like, "No way... Vadhir!"
When he told me that...
My head started spinning.
Vadhir really wanted
for his new home
to be a surprise for everybody.
And I noticed that he had exactly
what he needed. No more, no less.
What he always wanted.
I was so proud.
I started to respect him more
because I saw him as an adult...
who knew what he wanted in life.
And he did it on his own,
so that changed my…
-Your view.
-…my view of him.
It was like we'd switched...
and he was the dad and I was the son.
His reaction was so beautiful,
so sincere and so cool,
that it made me really happy.
It was more than I could've hoped for.
He went from always being
the dad going like, "Vadhir, come here,"
to the complete opposite. So...
"Your room's a mess, Eugenio!
What is this?"
I liked seeing
how our relationship totally changed
and we became closer. I really loved that.
At that moment I said,
-"How? When?"
-He was so excited.
He sent me tons of messages and pictures.
He was in shock.
Two days later, he told me...
that he wanted us to move there.
Hearing Eugenio talk so excitedly
and so proudly about Vadhir,
it really filled my heart.
It touched me and made me really happy.
On the last…
Was it the second-to-last night?
Vadhir said,
"Let's play a virtual reality game."
I said, "No. Let's watch a show."
He insisted, but I didn't want to.
-I finally agreed.
-A sign.
-When you don't want to…
-It's a sign.
Like, I don't like bikes,
so I fall whenever you put me on one.
True. I'll stop forcing you.
That was the same.
I didn't want to play a VR game,
but finally, I gave in.
And it was really stupid.
It was a game where you're taken
to the 100th floor of a building.
I was so excited
to show him how virtual reality worked,
this new technology.
I wanted him to see it,
experience the vertigo and other stuff.
I thought It'd be cool.
He really wanted me to see it.
Have you played that game before?
-Yeah.
-That same one?
Lots of people have.
Is it dangerous?
I swear, I've received a ton of videos...
Making fun of you?
No, about the game.
-Look at them, I'll show you.
-Okay.
-Really?
-You step on the board
and you feel like you're on a ledge...
Yeah, that game can be dangerous.
Check it out. Because I saw people walking
with one foot after the other
and then they fall on the ground.
Because the fear of going over the edge
keeps your feet on the floor.
So, if you trip over something,
you go down like this...
You don't move your feet.
You asked me why I didn't move my feet.
I tripped and when I felt I was falling,
instead of taking a step…
You fell down.
…I let myself fall.
I let myself fall
because when I was falling
my mind thought it was part of the game.
Like, it thought, "The game
makes you feel like you're falling."
But I was really falling.
He stepped off the board…
-I tripped.
-…and he felt like he was falling.
And how did you land?
-When I fell…
-On his shoulder.
…I was falling off the board
and I didn't realize I was really falling,
so I never braced for it.
I fell without realizing I was falling.
I landed elbow first,
so the elbow pushed my humerus bone up
and that shattered everything up here,
the whole shoulder.
My humerus popped all the way up here.
Pushing up underneath the skin.
The skin didn't break.
It looked dislocated,
but there was also a big ball…
Like, it was really weird.
Vadhir came up and said,
"Dad, what happened?"
And I said, "Something's broken.
Let's go to the hospital."
-And he didn't believe me.
-There were no hospitals.
-Yeah!
-I said, "I'm gonna pass out.
"Let's go."
And I said,
"Okay. If that's how you feel."
I wasn't gonna tell him,
"Stop being senile!"
So I took him.
I heard the bones break and I said,
"Let's get to the car before I pass out."
I endured the drive to Los Angeles
like that. I didn't wanna take anything.
And now that you had to stop,
did it change you in any way
or are you going to stay the same?
No, obviously, a lot changed.
My job used to be my first priority.
A few years ago I started to realize
that it's not worth working so hard
because this career is very short-lived.
I'll be honest, when I broke my shoulder
and we released the statement,
everyone was talking about it.
It was all over the news and talk shows.
The press was buzzing
with stories about my accident...
It lasted for two days.
And after two days...
Like nothing happened.
In two days, your career...
Vanishes.
You're gone.
It's a hard but beautiful lesson.
It taught us to focus on our lives,
and to live our lives to the fullest.
To do what makes us happy,
to travel, to learn and to have fun.
In the end, your family
is all you have left.
-They'll be there.
-They'll really remember you.
And you guys
won't remember me as Lonje Moco.
No!
No, you'll say, "Remember when we were
in Valle when we were little?"
We won't think
about your career or movies...
-Exactly.
-...but about our time together.
What we did together.
That's one thing I learned from this.
I think the worst things in life
can turn into the best things,
depending on how you see it
and your attitude towards them.
It happened to me with my divorce.
I used to think
that it was the worst thing ever.
But it turned into the best.
When this happened to you,
you felt it was the worst thing
that could have happened to you.
You wondered, "Why me?"
You wanted to cry all day.
And I think,
that depending on how you process it,
it can become one of the best things
to ever happen to you.
You got closer to Ale
because she became your nurse.
You appreciate her more than ever now.
I think you never valued Ale
as much as you do now.
True.
I just finished physical therapy.
It's two hours of torture.
Of stretching your muscles
until they tear them...
so you can regain movement.
I cry every day! I burst into tears.
Right?
Yes, but that's why you're my superhero.
I have no doubt
that we're much stronger now
than before the accident
and before Jamaica.
You were so affectionate, so…
My God!
-You were… Wow!
-Yeah, unrecognizable.
That's what he's saying, Vadhir.
No!
-"Nice, sweet…"
-"You loved me."
"You even talked to me."
"You talked to me.
Sometimes you even cuddled with me."
Ale is definitely in it
for better or worse.
She even wiped his you-know-what.
That would bring anyone closer together.
It made Dad really see her.
He had no other choice.
No, I mean, you were so loving,
and sweet, and caring.
It was a very nice time
and I think our relationship improved.
I can't make anything come out right.
-I'm…
-It never comes out right.
I think that you just…
-"Should shut up!"
-There!
Just shut up. No, I'm kidding.
You finally were able to see her,
because there were no other distractions.
No work, no kids around
to pamper you all the time.
She was the only one there for you,
and you had
nothing else to do, but recover.
It was just the two of you
and you needed that.
That.
-It's that…
-What she said.
-What she said.
-What she said times three.
-You're so sweet, Dad.
-"I may not be the best…"
-That's love, bro.
-Thanks, Ais.
I feel like Aislinn
criticizes me the most now.
She scolds me.
I tell her she's like my mom.
She won't get off my back.
I like it.
She's become a very smart woman.
My teacher, my guide.
I feel I've never been as close to Vadhir
-Or as crippled.
-...as I have on these two trips together.
Both on Traveling with the Derbezes
and what we did after.
-Yeah.
-We really connected.
There was a lot
of healing that took place,
especially with Vadhir.
Interestingly, the day you crashed
I felt I had to do something.
I couldn't leave you alone.
I had to be with you.
As a dad, you always fear
the worst happening and it did.
Yeah, it was really horrible.
I admit I shouldn't have flown.
To be fair to the sport, I have to admit
that I was really irresponsible of me.
I could and should have waited.
But because of what happened
I learned to listen to my instincts,
and if it doesn't feel right to me...
-And to me.
-...I won't do it.
Because it might have cost me my life.
There's a ton of turbulence, yeah?
I'm not sure about landing there.
Watch the wind.
No, I can't!
Careful!
My God!
And the wind is blowing exactly...
Watch out for the...
Vadhir!
I'm fine, really.
I'm okay!
I knew I shouldn't have flown.
Damn it. I'm an idiot!
And now, undo this.
Okay. And I drop.
That's it.
Fuck.
Will you fly again?
-Yes, but in places I know.
-Why?
Of course!
"Of course. In fact, I want to go back
to that exact mountain."
To conquer it!
You don't know how many people
tell me about accidents
after I tell them that story.
-Of course.
-I keep hearing more.
I'll never go near a mountain.
I'll fly where I'm used to.
Where I know for a fact...
-That if he crashes…
-I'll die.
-He'll die!
-"I'll go to the sure thing."
-"Without any trees to catch me."
-Without any trees to catch me.
Here we are, where Vadhir fell.
He still wants to get his camera.
It's all for the content, Dad.
For you guys, follow for follow.
Let's go!
Be glad I was there.
Yeah. Thanks, Dad.
I'd never suffered so much
as when I thought my son could be dead,
when I saw him fall with the paraglider.
That's just barking for trouble.
-Right.
-It's, "Asking for trouble."
-That too.
-Yeah.
Learn the saying…
"To bark for trouble?"
What?
I wanted to sound smart.
No, bro. You can't pull it off.
You can't do that. Just stop.
-Stop it. But, yes.
-But, yes.
-I'm really proud of Aitana...
-It's growth.
...and how she's turning
into a little lady.
She gave it her all.
I feel that she now fits
into some of the dynamics
that she didn't fit before.
And that her siblings
are including her more.
I noticed a big change in Aitana.
Did the trip change her, right?
-She turned eight.
-Eight years old!
-Right.
-It sounds easy, but it isn't.
Aitana, do you want to spend your birthday
with us or with your mom?
With Mom and Dad.
-Wait.
-Let her answer.
-Yeah!
-Yeah, team!
Here, high five.
-Sorry.
-No, honey, don't apologize.
What was your favorite part
of our trip to Jamaica?
The funniest thing was the sauce…
-What sauce?
-Sauce?
-The one he...
-The really spicy sauce?
That son of a gun.
I'm an angel.
What's wrong?
What do you think, Aitana? Who did it?
You son of a bitch.
What did you do to him?
It's the spiciest sauce in the world.
It has some kind of pepper...
José Eduardo, is that the one
they say it can kill you if you try it?
You even have to sign a waiver.
You have to sign a form
so the store can't be sued.
-No.
-Yes! Yes.
-…No!
-Yes.
-That was great.
-The hot sauce?
That was funny,
but what was your favorite?
-What you enjoyed most.
-What I liked the most…
We had tons of fun. Let me remind you.
Your birthday party with your siblings.
-The roller coasters.
-That!
Wait, damn it! No way!
-Did you like it?
-It was great.
-You liked it?
-Yeah.
And when we made our handshake.
We want you to be part of our club.
It's the sibling club.
We'll show you something special.
Yeah.
We're gonna make a secret handshake!
We had our secret handshake
when we were younger,
but I think that showing it to Aitana
and doing it with her
symbolizes that she's part
of the siblings' club.
That the four of us will be together
doing crazy things and having adventures,
and being irresponsible
like when we were kids.
Which, I think
is what brought us together.
Forehead.
We love you.
How about when I came out
with the gray-haired gnome?
That's what you call it?
What gray-haired gnome?
Do you remember the gnome?
-Put this on.
-Look, a pirate.
That scared me in the bathroom last time.
Stop! Why are you shouting?
Why do you scare your sister?
-I can't see.
-What's wrong with you? It's horrible!
I didn't want to scare Aitana,
because she could be traumatized.
Growing up with us is traumatic enough.
We've all been to therapy.
I think my favorite moments were when...
-I went clubbing with Ais and my brother.
-Yeah.
You were like,
"Move it, this is my groove."
What happened, Ais?
That's my sister!
What was your favorite thing, Ais?
Playing the drums.
And making people dance.
I wasn't even that drunk.
-No?
-But you acted like a boring old man.
I prefer a glass of cognac.
Chug!
There's nothing better
than sitting down with a nice drink,
enjoying and relaxing with a cigarette
instead of jumping and banging on drums.
I wouldn't say, "Nothing better," but…
I prefer dancing and playing the drums
than sitting around
with a disgusting drink.
Respect, please.
Don't disrespect my drink.
It's fun to see my brother
drinking and eyeing everyone
like an old man.
And my sister going absolutely nuts,
shouting and making everyone dance.
I mean, what the hell, Ais? But I love it.
What was your favorite moment?
I have two. One was scuba diving.
There was little visibility,
but it was cool.
Careful with my lip, man. It's busted.
I'll be okay.
My arm, my elbow hurts. Help me with that.
Damn it.
I can't close my hand.
I don't know what I'll do down there.
If I run out of air,
I won't react as quickly as I need to.
You sure you're ready?
I'm crippled, but I managed.
-C'mon.
-We did it.
My favorite moment?
Was when we jumped into the cave.
-Remember that?
-You're right! I'd forgotten.
-That day was also cool.
-Yeah.
I also liked School of Vision.
-No, that thing was...
-Hey, it was great!
There's no way.
You got there too late.
-Don't go there.
-Don't get me started, 'cause...
We went up a huge mountain.
I climbed up to Tepozteco,
but that thing was surreal.
-You see them.
-Don't become one of them!
-There's ghosts.
-"There's ghosts!"
My stomach's cramping up.
My legs hurt, my knees, my arms.
I couldn't see anything. It was cold.
Are the mosquitos getting you?
I want to cry.
You guys only suffered, but we…
Yeah, I got stung in you-know-where.
The conversation we had
with the leader was great.
That was one of my favorite moments too.
Having shared that with my daughter
was one of the most beautiful moments
on this whole trip.
Know what? I remembered something.
There was something about you and my room.
Whenever I went to my room
Vadhir always came in,
then Ais, then Aitana.
Even Ale came in once.
I came to my room to be alone.
Are you having fun?
I'm having a great time.
I'm not into family bonding all that much.
And…
We can't do this.
We're not joined at the hip.
I can't take it anymore.
-Are you comfortable?
-No, stop.
Yeah, I think he is.
Pack up. Show's over.
I can't take it anymore.
I don't go into their rooms.
But they all waltz into mine.
We each have a room
and we're not using them.
Why would we?
It's boring to sleep in separate rooms
when everything's spinning.
What's the need?
-You're a hermit.
-You're a lonely stingy hermit.
I love my privacy.
My family doesn't understand that.
They want to huddle up all the time.
-Do you hate being together?
-No, I learned to like it more.
-It's fun!
-That's nice.
I also wanted to be alone just like you.
But when we're all together…
-We have fun.
-It's nice.
...we enjoy it.
There! Take that!
Take that!
Take that!
I was also really scared,
because we had the rule
that you wouldn't be controlling
or meddle too much.
I want you to swear you won't do anything,
you won't be annoying
or control the whole trip.
And I didn't.
What?
Everyone at once!
Even Aitana joined in.
Define, "Meddle."
Check out what I just found.
This is Eugenio's computer,
and look what's under it.
It's unbelievable.
He said he wouldn't interfere,
he wouldn't control anything,
he wouldn't plan anything.
-You think you weren't controlling?
-Let's not...
"Meddle," from the verb, "Nag?"
No, I really respected all of your plans.
I rented the catamaran for two nights.
What?
For real? I get seasick.
I can't take it, Dad.
-No!
-But the sea is calm now.
-How can we sleep here?
-We don't have pj's, clothes, anything.
We'll drop anchor here where it's calm
and the boat won't rock here.
I only have shorts. And our clothes?
Adventure!
No, Dad.
You know, we ran away for a reason.
We had to escape…
Boom!
…without telling you anything,
because you were meddling
and not asking what we thought.
But only with the catamaran.
Okay, guys.
I'm gonna throw up again!
-Don't bunch up together.
-Jump!
A big jump!
What? Hey!
-Come on.
-Hurry, before he sees us.
Let's get out of here!
Where are they going?
Yeah, you jerk!
Hey! Where are you going?
-Bye!
-Bye, Dad!
Alessandra knows, ask her.
-Ask Ale.
-Yeah.
-Where are you going?
-Don't worry.
Bye!
We'll be fine!
No, but he also…
had help.
Why are you so disloyal
and so easily persuaded?
No!
You were a traitor.
You already knew his plan.
-Will you help?
-I will.
-You'll persuade them?
-I will.
-A catamaran sounds cool.
-Great.
-I think it'll work.
-Good.
You said you'd help me
if I bought you a drink, right?
-No way!
-It was something like that.
For real?
Win me over, right?
-I mean...
-Win you over?
Win me over.
Don't scold me
for bringing my magic water.
-So, win me over, damn it. Win me over.
-You want me...
You want me to hide your...
-Turn a blind eye.
-Right.
My eyes can't be any blinder.
Enjoy then.
I mean…
-You went that low?
-What did he say?
"If you let me drink."
Remember the condition you set?
I didn't know. He said
a boat would be cool and I agreed.
How long are you normally on a catamaran?
A day, right? One, two hours, and done.
We talked and I saw what my father needed.
Being a good son,
-I backed him up.
-"A good son." Wow!
All that stuff
about being a good son was bullshit.
I was just playing along.
I wanted to ask you,
I'll be out there, waiting.
When I see the ship coming,
If I can't be there, I need you to do it.
Just wait there with the flag,
and if you see it coming,
flag it down so it stops.
What's José doing?
Is he looking for dolphins?
He liked the idea. So, I said,
"Have a look and then come back."
Eugenio!
I lost it.
Buddy!
-Buddy!
-Buddy…
Man!
José Eduardo is the happiest one
and I respect that.
As his father,
I'm really happy to see him like that.
So, I've learned
to accept him with all his flaws,
with all his hang-ups, all his craziness.
I love him and I don't want him to change.
Yesterday I was like Daniela Romo's hair.
-How?
-Shitfaced.
Hey, she's listening.
I can't believe the obscenity!
-Sorry.
-The obscenity.
He gets that from his mom, not from me.
I'm the black sheep.
Hey. We had good times on the catamaran.
Yeah, like when we were
like that kid from The Exorcist.
No way, Aislinn.
Dude, no!
No!
-It was awful.
-One after the other.
But the catamaran was cool.
Then there was that awful storm.
Stop! Please, Eugenio.
-Why's everything my fault?
-Did you see that?
I'm gonna take
more motion sickness pills, okay?
I suggested the catamaran
and I think it wasn't a good idea.
-So…
-But there were nice moments.
We had nice moments within the chaos
of the catamaran. Like when we swam.
-Yes.
-That was my favorite moment.
Let's go!
Push her, Vadhir.
Look at those glutes!
It's fine.
-If it sank, I'd dive for it.
-I'll use a lifesaver...
What do you think? Nice, right?
Well, she's your wife.
We're not gonna comment.
We're not gonna talk about her looks.
-I meant the water!
-Sure.
That fitness program really works.
-Did the trip turn out how you expected?
-No.
Okay. How?
Better or…
-The trip in general or the ship?
-...worse?
The trip was very authentic.
-Interesting.
-Very interesting, unique.
I'm glad they crashed my trip
and that they tagged along.
Because I honestly think
we accomplished some beautiful things.
I like that we became more like friends.
-Great friends.
-Friends.
-I didn't like that.
-No, we loved it.
Did you know they told me
to be more like their friend?
Less like a dad.
If I scolded them,
they went like, "Hey, we're friends."
Stop drinking, José Eduardo.
-I mean…
-Friend.
A friend never tells you to stop drinking.
In fact, a friend says,
"I'll get you another one."
-"Another one."
-Exactly.
-Your blood's boiling.
-I mean, focus on playing.
Didn't we have a talk yesterday?
-So annoying!
-Very annoying.
Buddy, toast with me.
-You didn't like it?
-No.
What do you mean? It was nice.
Sure. But, In the end, you're my children.
But we're not kids. We're adults...
and are now your friends.
-You still have 12 more years with…
-No, stop that.
She's like, "Friend!"
-Friend!
-Just take the whole bottle of soy sauce.
Aitana, when Dad scolds you,
tell him, "Friend." Okay? Always.
-Friend!
-Don't listen to them, honey.
-We're father and son forever.
-Right.
Till therapy do us part.
That was a lot.
We have a wise man here!
Olo!
Remember that
you also started saying, "Olo?"
-Olo.
-Olo.
-Olo. Yeah.
-Olo.
You made me say it. I remember.
You did it very well
'cause you used your hands.
Olo.
And Ale went like this, "Olo."
Olo...
Olo!
-What?
-Say, "Olo."
-Come on, say, "Olo."
-Olo.
Olo!
What's wrong with you?
-You're obscene.
-You weren't like this when we met.
-You know what?
-We were 12, come on!
What happened to you?
-We grew up.
-Puberty.
-My God!
-The neighborhood.
Honey, put away your phone.
We're having a conversation.
I'm getting FedEx notifications
on the delivery of M-fitness products.
-That's right. Making that money!
-Yeah!
Entrepreneurial conversations.
-Businesswomen!
-Right, Ais?
Someone sends you a text
whenever a package is delivered?
-He got paid!
-No, it's automatic!
The notifications are automatic.
It's great because you see
what's been bought,
the payments and the deliveries.
Look at that.
The women
in this family are entrepreneurs.
There's more communication there
than in our relationship.
-Dad, can I ask you something?
-"Ask me!"
Be honest. What would you tell
Season 1 Eugenio
and this season's Eugenio?
I think we all started the first season
not knowing what to expect.
We thought we'd go on a trip,
like, "Everyone do whatever you want."
And we'd have a cameraman
following us and that would be it.
They'd follow us
and we'd have a free video of the trip.
We all felt really cocky,
and went like,
"We got this. It's what we do.
"We'll be in control."
-And then, wham!
-Wham!
Take that! It was tough
because we didn't really know
what a reality show was about.
It was really stressful
and I suffered a lot.
Morocco, for example, was so toxic.
José Eduardo, Vadhir and Aislinn
won't answer the phone.
It's 7:30 a.m. What is wrong with you?
-An hour and a half late.
-Sit down, ma'am…
Eugenio!
You were in danger
and you wanted Aitana to get closer.
Don't worry.
Vadhir!
Do you still smoke?
I might quit tomorrow.
You're hitting the plants, Eugenio!
Don't call me "Eugenio." I'm your dad.
My handsome, cool daddy.
I lost my girl.
Yeah, I think it was the worst trip
of our lives, right?
Yes.
It looked nice on camera.
No, it was rough.
That intense stress we were feeling.
It wasn't even that we'd argue.
It was, like, a tension
that made us uncomfortable...
-Yes.
-...there was a distance.
It took us a long time
to process it and get ready for Season 2.
To trust one another.
Watch it!
Damn it!
José Eduardo, put your things away.
Acomode, acomode.
Enough!
What's wrong with you?
No way!
-What?
-Is it that bad?
No!
Gross.
Good thing you're vegan. Incredible.
I can't sleep.
Can you please put her outside?
If you want her out, I'm leaving too.
Do whatever you want.
You snore too much, sweetie.
Adventure. Danger!
-My God...
-No danger, please.
I feel that this last season
was therapeutic.
Where we cleansed
all the bad stuff from the first season
and some from the second.
This third season helped us
to reconnect as the family we were
-before the trip to Morocco.
-Exactly.
In general, I feel that our family
became stronger after Jamaica.
But It was very intense.
We also know each other better.
I'd never heard them say
the things they said.
We'd never shared moments
like those or cried that much.
I have no doubt
that Jamaica was a turning point.
There's a before and an after.
In the first two seasons,
we got to know a side of each other that…
-We didn't like.
-We didn't like.
And that we could only see like that.
We tolerate each other more.
We saw our ugly sides like never before.
What we experienced as a family
and what we achieved internally
was very special and beautiful.
For me, it was our best trip.
I'm very satisfied with it.
I'm glad it happened.
We learned that we shouldn't yell
and instead say,
"I'll be in my room, see you tomorrow."
And end it there.
I think we grow on each trip.
We learn to live together,
to be a better person within the family,
to be closer,
to put up with each other,
be more tolerant, more loving.
And to accept our mistakes.
The conversation you
when you stayed up till 4:00 a.m.
never would've happened
in previous seasons.
Thanks to those two seasons
and everything we experienced as a family,
we were able to reach
that point on this trip.
-Right?
-Yes.
Eugenio and his three older kids
had a chance to heal many wounds
and to talk about things
they'd never talked about before.
I think you also set boundaries…
-We grew.
-…that you didn't before.
-Don't cry.
-We set boundaries.
We worked out a lot of stuff
that needed work out.
That hurt.
But also make you grow as a person
and especially as a dad.
-How about another trip?
-Yes.
-You?
-Of course.
-If it's a cool place, sure.
-Of course.
-I'm in.
-So, we agree?
We'll travel together more often
now that we get along
and it's easier to get along.
It's not any easier,
but we know how to do it.
I just want to thank you
for being vulnerable,
and for opening up
to knowing each other better on each trip,
and for having healthier dynamics
so we can spend time together
and be respectful to each other.
I really appreciate that.
-Siblings!
-Siblings!
-I felt…
-Thanks for coming.
…proud that you two opened up
and connected more deeply.
But no more catastrophic events, okay?
I know Vadhir opened up like never before,
and Eugenio did, too.
A toast, right? Aitana.
Will you make a speech?
Cheers to another trip.
-That's it!
-Sure! Right!
That's it!
-That's it! Cheers!
-Cheers!
-Cheers to another trip.
-To another trip.
Cheers, darling. Cheers.
For me, these trips are…
They're finger-lickin' good.
I even have fun when bad things happen.
So, let's go! Where to next, family?
Let's go, team.
Should we set a date for the next trip?
-When?
-No?
-Check Ale's agenda.
-I'm going climbing.
-In three months tops.
-Wanna come?
-Three months? I'm in.
-Three months?
-Yes.
-Okay.
-Sound good?
-I'm going climbing if you wanna come.
-You're joking. I want to go.
-Really?
Honey, you can't climb now. You can't.
You can hold the rope for me one-handed.
If you're doing rock climbing,
I can be the one wearing the harness.
Let's go.
Well, Jamaica's over.
I think it was a nice trip.
I think it's one of my favorite vacations.
We proved that what's important
isn't where you go,
it's who you're with.
Now we have to plan the next one,
and I hope it's clear
that there's a big difference
between a vacation organized by Dad
and a trip that's like,
"Spur of the moment. Whatever happens."
Dear Lord!
Come on!
Come on!
One, two, three! Left!
One, two, three! Right!
It's all you!
Dude!
Take that!
I'm glad you're here.
Bear hug!
I love you.
Well, the season's over.

EUGENIO DERBEZ DESCRIBES
DERBEZ'S SON TALKS
ABOUT THE ACCIDENT
EUGENIO DERBEZ UNDERGOES SHOULDER SURGERY
AFTER SUFFERING AN ACCIDENT.
EUGENIO DERBEZ SUFFERS ACCIDENT:
WILL UNDERGO SURGERY
DERBEZ, "THEY'VE KEPT ME SEDATED,
I'VE BEEN ASLEEP THE LAST FEW WEEKS."
-I'll show you.
-What you see there…
that looks so…
Those things there. That's just…
There are about…
-I think they are…
-...fourteen nails?
Yeah, I think there are
about 20 screws in total.
They're not nails, they're screws.
That's a picture of one of the plates
with the 14 screws or nails,
whatever they are.
That's it, sorry.
Hugs and kisses to everyone.
And I'll see you soon.
TRAVELING WITH THE DERBEZES
THREE MONTHS LATER
We're here.
Thank you.
Come, Aitana.
Come, my love.
-Let's go!
-Nice place.
Yes, I think so.
Let's go!
Are you all right?
Thanks, I can do it on my own!
Tell him, "I know."
Ready.
Hey, you won't believe this.
What?
No, you won't believe it.
Stop, I don't believe you.
Kill Bill was shot here.
-Shut up!
-Really?
-Really. I checked.
-For real?
They shot Kill Bill here.
-I'm coming!
-No, sorry.
You hurt your shoulder, not your foot.
Still, wait for me, don't be like that.
What if I trip over?
-That's enough.
-Slowly.
Be brave.
It's a nice place, right?
It's really cool.
-Thanks.
-Did you see the fish?
-Yeah.
-Do they cook them?
Let's see.
Sit down, I can take off my own jacket.
-So that's how it'll be.
-Hey, I'm right here.
-No, but my lazy kids…
-Who said that?
My God!
Can't you guys say,
"Dad, do you need any help?"
-Dad, want me to pass the salt?
-What do you need?
You've made me salty enough.
More?
The one who caused
the accident should help.
The media says
your son tried to get rid of you.
Is it true?
I read interviews that said,
"A contact told me."
"I have a reliable source."
-Trustworthy.
-Someone close to them.
"They argued
and that's why aren't talking anymore."
-Really?
-I was like, "Dude, you have no idea.
"I don't even know you."
And then…
This is a complicated career
and I think people care more
about the bad than the good.
And so gossip spreads everywhere.
It gets all over the news.
Tell me in full detail
how the accident happened.
-Yes, please.
-Okay.
Vadhir surprised me by taking me there.
He told me it was an Airbnb.
So, we get to the house
and I say, "This is really nice."
So, I started taking pictures
of everything,
because it was really nicely decorated.
-And it was his first house.
-Yes.
I said, "Welcome to my home."
And he was like, "No way... Vadhir!"
When he told me that...
My head started spinning.
Vadhir really wanted
for his new home
to be a surprise for everybody.
And I noticed that he had exactly
what he needed. No more, no less.
What he always wanted.
I was so proud.
I started to respect him more
because I saw him as an adult...
who knew what he wanted in life.
And he did it on his own,
so that changed my…
-Your view.
-…my view of him.
It was like we'd switched...
and he was the dad and I was the son.
His reaction was so beautiful,
so sincere and so cool,
that it made me really happy.
It was more than I could've hoped for.
He went from always being
the dad going like, "Vadhir, come here,"
to the complete opposite. So...
"Your room's a mess, Eugenio!
What is this?"
I liked seeing
how our relationship totally changed
and we became closer. I really loved that.
At that moment I said,
-"How? When?"
-He was so excited.
He sent me tons of messages and pictures.
He was in shock.
Two days later, he told me...
that he wanted us to move there.
Hearing Eugenio talk so excitedly
and so proudly about Vadhir,
it really filled my heart.
It touched me and made me really happy.
On the last…
Was it the second-to-last night?
Vadhir said,
"Let's play a virtual reality game."
I said, "No. Let's watch a show."
He insisted, but I didn't want to.
-I finally agreed.
-A sign.
-When you don't want to…
-It's a sign.
Like, I don't like bikes,
so I fall whenever you put me on one.
True. I'll stop forcing you.
That was the same.
I didn't want to play a VR game,
but finally, I gave in.
And it was really stupid.
It was a game where you're taken
to the 100th floor of a building.
I was so excited
to show him how virtual reality worked,
this new technology.
I wanted him to see it,
experience the vertigo and other stuff.
I thought It'd be cool.
He really wanted me to see it.
Have you played that game before?
-Yeah.
-That same one?
Lots of people have.
Is it dangerous?
I swear, I've received a ton of videos...
Making fun of you?
No, about the game.
-Look at them, I'll show you.
-Okay.
-Really?
-You step on the board
and you feel like you're on a ledge...
Yeah, that game can be dangerous.
Check it out. Because I saw people walking
with one foot after the other
and then they fall on the ground.
Because the fear of going over the edge
keeps your feet on the floor.
So, if you trip over something,
you go down like this...
You don't move your feet.
You asked me why I didn't move my feet.
I tripped and when I felt I was falling,
instead of taking a step…
You fell down.
…I let myself fall.
I let myself fall
because when I was falling
my mind thought it was part of the game.
Like, it thought, "The game
makes you feel like you're falling."
But I was really falling.
He stepped off the board…
-I tripped.
-…and he felt like he was falling.
And how did you land?
-When I fell…
-On his shoulder.
…I was falling off the board
and I didn't realize I was really falling,
so I never braced for it.
I fell without realizing I was falling.
I landed elbow first,
so the elbow pushed my humerus bone up
and that shattered everything up here,
the whole shoulder.
My humerus popped all the way up here.
Pushing up underneath the skin.
The skin didn't break.
It looked dislocated,
but there was also a big ball…
Like, it was really weird.
Vadhir came up and said,
"Dad, what happened?"
And I said, "Something's broken.
Let's go to the hospital."
-And he didn't believe me.
-There were no hospitals.
-Yeah!
-I said, "I'm gonna pass out.
"Let's go."
And I said,
"Okay. If that's how you feel."
I wasn't gonna tell him,
"Stop being senile!"
So I took him.
I heard the bones break and I said,
"Let's get to the car before I pass out."
I endured the drive to Los Angeles
like that. I didn't wanna take anything.
And now that you had to stop,
did it change you in any way
or are you going to stay the same?
No, obviously, a lot changed.
My job used to be my first priority.
A few years ago I started to realize
that it's not worth working so hard
because this career is very short-lived.
I'll be honest, when I broke my shoulder
and we released the statement,
everyone was talking about it.
It was all over the news and talk shows.
The press was buzzing
with stories about my accident...
It lasted for two days.
And after two days...
Like nothing happened.
In two days, your career...
Vanishes.
You're gone.
It's a hard but beautiful lesson.
It taught us to focus on our lives,
and to live our lives to the fullest.
To do what makes us happy,
to travel, to learn and to have fun.
In the end, your family
is all you have left.
-They'll be there.
-They'll really remember you.
And you guys
won't remember me as Lonje Moco.
No!
No, you'll say, "Remember when we were
in Valle when we were little?"
We won't think
about your career or movies...
-Exactly.
-...but about our time together.
What we did together.
That's one thing I learned from this.
I think the worst things in life
can turn into the best things,
depending on how you see it
and your attitude towards them.
It happened to me with my divorce.
I used to think
that it was the worst thing ever.
But it turned into the best.
When this happened to you,
you felt it was the worst thing
that could have happened to you.
You wondered, "Why me?"
You wanted to cry all day.
And I think,
that depending on how you process it,
it can become one of the best things
to ever happen to you.
You got closer to Ale
because she became your nurse.
You appreciate her more than ever now.
I think you never valued Ale
as much as you do now.
True.
I just finished physical therapy.
It's two hours of torture.
Of stretching your muscles
until they tear them...
so you can regain movement.
I cry every day! I burst into tears.
Right?
Yes, but that's why you're my superhero.
I have no doubt
that we're much stronger now
than before the accident
and before Jamaica.
You were so affectionate, so…
My God!
-You were… Wow!
-Yeah, unrecognizable.
That's what he's saying, Vadhir.
No!
-"Nice, sweet…"
-"You loved me."
"You even talked to me."
"You talked to me.
Sometimes you even cuddled with me."
Ale is definitely in it
for better or worse.
She even wiped his you-know-what.
That would bring anyone closer together.
It made Dad really see her.
He had no other choice.
No, I mean, you were so loving,
and sweet, and caring.
It was a very nice time
and I think our relationship improved.
I can't make anything come out right.
-I'm…
-It never comes out right.
I think that you just…
-"Should shut up!"
-There!
Just shut up. No, I'm kidding.
You finally were able to see her,
because there were no other distractions.
No work, no kids around
to pamper you all the time.
She was the only one there for you,
and you had
nothing else to do, but recover.
It was just the two of you
and you needed that.
That.
-It's that…
-What she said.
-What she said.
-What she said times three.
-You're so sweet, Dad.
-"I may not be the best…"
-That's love, bro.
-Thanks, Ais.
I feel like Aislinn
criticizes me the most now.
She scolds me.
I tell her she's like my mom.
She won't get off my back.
I like it.
She's become a very smart woman.
My teacher, my guide.
I feel I've never been as close to Vadhir
-Or as crippled.
-...as I have on these two trips together.
Both on Traveling with the Derbezes
and what we did after.
-Yeah.
-We really connected.
There was a lot
of healing that took place,
especially with Vadhir.
Interestingly, the day you crashed
I felt I had to do something.
I couldn't leave you alone.
I had to be with you.
As a dad, you always fear
the worst happening and it did.
Yeah, it was really horrible.
I admit I shouldn't have flown.
To be fair to the sport, I have to admit
that I was really irresponsible of me.
I could and should have waited.
But because of what happened
I learned to listen to my instincts,
and if it doesn't feel right to me...
-And to me.
-...I won't do it.
Because it might have cost me my life.
There's a ton of turbulence, yeah?
I'm not sure about landing there.
Watch the wind.
No, I can't!
Careful!
My God!
And the wind is blowing exactly...
Watch out for the...
Vadhir!
I'm fine, really.
I'm okay!
I knew I shouldn't have flown.
Damn it. I'm an idiot!
And now, undo this.
Okay. And I drop.
That's it.
Fuck.
Will you fly again?
-Yes, but in places I know.
-Why?
Of course!
"Of course. In fact, I want to go back
to that exact mountain."
To conquer it!
You don't know how many people
tell me about accidents
after I tell them that story.
-Of course.
-I keep hearing more.
I'll never go near a mountain.
I'll fly where I'm used to.
Where I know for a fact...
-That if he crashes…
-I'll die.
-He'll die!
-"I'll go to the sure thing."
-"Without any trees to catch me."
-Without any trees to catch me.
Here we are, where Vadhir fell.
He still wants to get his camera.
It's all for the content, Dad.
For you guys, follow for follow.
Let's go!
Be glad I was there.
Yeah. Thanks, Dad.
I'd never suffered so much
as when I thought my son could be dead,
when I saw him fall with the paraglider.
That's just barking for trouble.
-Right.
-It's, "Asking for trouble."
-That too.
-Yeah.
Learn the saying…
"To bark for trouble?"
What?
I wanted to sound smart.
No, bro. You can't pull it off.
You can't do that. Just stop.
-Stop it. But, yes.
-But, yes.
-I'm really proud of Aitana...
-It's growth.
...and how she's turning
into a little lady.
She gave it her all.
I feel that she now fits
into some of the dynamics
that she didn't fit before.
And that her siblings
are including her more.
I noticed a big change in Aitana.
Did the trip change her, right?
-She turned eight.
-Eight years old!
-Right.
-It sounds easy, but it isn't.
Aitana, do you want to spend your birthday
with us or with your mom?
With Mom and Dad.
-Wait.
-Let her answer.
-Yeah!
-Yeah, team!
Here, high five.
-Sorry.
-No, honey, don't apologize.
What was your favorite part
of our trip to Jamaica?
The funniest thing was the sauce…
-What sauce?
-Sauce?
-The one he...
-The really spicy sauce?
That son of a gun.
I'm an angel.
What's wrong?
What do you think, Aitana? Who did it?
You son of a bitch.
What did you do to him?
It's the spiciest sauce in the world.
It has some kind of pepper...
José Eduardo, is that the one
they say it can kill you if you try it?
You even have to sign a waiver.
You have to sign a form
so the store can't be sued.
-No.
-Yes! Yes.
-…No!
-Yes.
-That was great.
-The hot sauce?
That was funny,
but what was your favorite?
-What you enjoyed most.
-What I liked the most…
We had tons of fun. Let me remind you.
Your birthday party with your siblings.
-The roller coasters.
-That!
Wait, damn it! No way!
-Did you like it?
-It was great.
-You liked it?
-Yeah.
And when we made our handshake.
We want you to be part of our club.
It's the sibling club.
We'll show you something special.
Yeah.
We're gonna make a secret handshake!
We had our secret handshake
when we were younger,
but I think that showing it to Aitana
and doing it with her
symbolizes that she's part
of the siblings' club.
That the four of us will be together
doing crazy things and having adventures,
and being irresponsible
like when we were kids.
Which, I think
is what brought us together.
Forehead.
We love you.
How about when I came out
with the gray-haired gnome?
That's what you call it?
What gray-haired gnome?
Do you remember the gnome?
-Put this on.
-Look, a pirate.
That scared me in the bathroom last time.
Stop! Why are you shouting?
Why do you scare your sister?
-I can't see.
-What's wrong with you? It's horrible!
I didn't want to scare Aitana,
because she could be traumatized.
Growing up with us is traumatic enough.
We've all been to therapy.
I think my favorite moments were when...
-I went clubbing with Ais and my brother.
-Yeah.
You were like,
"Move it, this is my groove."
What happened, Ais?
That's my sister!
What was your favorite thing, Ais?
Playing the drums.
And making people dance.
I wasn't even that drunk.
-No?
-But you acted like a boring old man.
I prefer a glass of cognac.
Chug!
There's nothing better
than sitting down with a nice drink,
enjoying and relaxing with a cigarette
instead of jumping and banging on drums.
I wouldn't say, "Nothing better," but…
I prefer dancing and playing the drums
than sitting around
with a disgusting drink.
Respect, please.
Don't disrespect my drink.
It's fun to see my brother
drinking and eyeing everyone
like an old man.
And my sister going absolutely nuts,
shouting and making everyone dance.
I mean, what the hell, Ais? But I love it.
What was your favorite moment?
I have two. One was scuba diving.
There was little visibility,
but it was cool.
Careful with my lip, man. It's busted.
I'll be okay.
My arm, my elbow hurts. Help me with that.
Damn it.
I can't close my hand.
I don't know what I'll do down there.
If I run out of air,
I won't react as quickly as I need to.
You sure you're ready?
I'm crippled, but I managed.
-C'mon.
-We did it.
My favorite moment?
Was when we jumped into the cave.
-Remember that?
-You're right! I'd forgotten.
-That day was also cool.
-Yeah.
I also liked School of Vision.
-No, that thing was...
-Hey, it was great!
There's no way.
You got there too late.
-Don't go there.
-Don't get me started, 'cause...
We went up a huge mountain.
I climbed up to Tepozteco,
but that thing was surreal.
-You see them.
-Don't become one of them!
-There's ghosts.
-"There's ghosts!"
My stomach's cramping up.
My legs hurt, my knees, my arms.
I couldn't see anything. It was cold.
Are the mosquitos getting you?
I want to cry.
You guys only suffered, but we…
Yeah, I got stung in you-know-where.
The conversation we had
with the leader was great.
That was one of my favorite moments too.
Having shared that with my daughter
was one of the most beautiful moments
on this whole trip.
Know what? I remembered something.
There was something about you and my room.
Whenever I went to my room
Vadhir always came in,
then Ais, then Aitana.
Even Ale came in once.
I came to my room to be alone.
Are you having fun?
I'm having a great time.
I'm not into family bonding all that much.
And…
We can't do this.
We're not joined at the hip.
I can't take it anymore.
-Are you comfortable?
-No, stop.
Yeah, I think he is.
Pack up. Show's over.
I can't take it anymore.
I don't go into their rooms.
But they all waltz into mine.
We each have a room
and we're not using them.
Why would we?
It's boring to sleep in separate rooms
when everything's spinning.
What's the need?
-You're a hermit.
-You're a lonely stingy hermit.
I love my privacy.
My family doesn't understand that.
They want to huddle up all the time.
-Do you hate being together?
-No, I learned to like it more.
-It's fun!
-That's nice.
I also wanted to be alone just like you.
But when we're all together…
-We have fun.
-It's nice.
...we enjoy it.
There! Take that!
Take that!
Take that!
I was also really scared,
because we had the rule
that you wouldn't be controlling
or meddle too much.
I want you to swear you won't do anything,
you won't be annoying
or control the whole trip.
And I didn't.
What?
Everyone at once!
Even Aitana joined in.
Define, "Meddle."
Check out what I just found.
This is Eugenio's computer,
and look what's under it.
It's unbelievable.
He said he wouldn't interfere,
he wouldn't control anything,
he wouldn't plan anything.
-You think you weren't controlling?
-Let's not...
"Meddle," from the verb, "Nag?"
No, I really respected all of your plans.
I rented the catamaran for two nights.
What?
For real? I get seasick.
I can't take it, Dad.
-No!
-But the sea is calm now.
-How can we sleep here?
-We don't have pj's, clothes, anything.
We'll drop anchor here where it's calm
and the boat won't rock here.
I only have shorts. And our clothes?
Adventure!
No, Dad.
You know, we ran away for a reason.
We had to escape…
Boom!
…without telling you anything,
because you were meddling
and not asking what we thought.
But only with the catamaran.
Okay, guys.
I'm gonna throw up again!
-Don't bunch up together.
-Jump!
A big jump!
What? Hey!
-Come on.
-Hurry, before he sees us.
Let's get out of here!
Where are they going?
Yeah, you jerk!
Hey! Where are you going?
-Bye!
-Bye, Dad!
Alessandra knows, ask her.
-Ask Ale.
-Yeah.
-Where are you going?
-Don't worry.
Bye!
We'll be fine!
No, but he also…
had help.
Why are you so disloyal
and so easily persuaded?
No!
You were a traitor.
You already knew his plan.
-Will you help?
-I will.
-You'll persuade them?
-I will.
-A catamaran sounds cool.
-Great.
-I think it'll work.
-Good.
You said you'd help me
if I bought you a drink, right?
-No way!
-It was something like that.
For real?
Win me over, right?
-I mean...
-Win you over?
Win me over.
Don't scold me
for bringing my magic water.
-So, win me over, damn it. Win me over.
-You want me...
You want me to hide your...
-Turn a blind eye.
-Right.
My eyes can't be any blinder.
Enjoy then.
I mean…
-You went that low?
-What did he say?
"If you let me drink."
Remember the condition you set?
I didn't know. He said
a boat would be cool and I agreed.
How long are you normally on a catamaran?
A day, right? One, two hours, and done.
We talked and I saw what my father needed.
Being a good son,
-I backed him up.
-"A good son." Wow!
All that stuff
about being a good son was bullshit.
I was just playing along.
I wanted to ask you,
I'll be out there, waiting.
When I see the ship coming,
If I can't be there, I need you to do it.
Just wait there with the flag,
and if you see it coming,
flag it down so it stops.
What's José doing?
Is he looking for dolphins?
He liked the idea. So, I said,
"Have a look and then come back."
Eugenio!
I lost it.
Buddy!
-Buddy!
-Buddy…
Man!
José Eduardo is the happiest one
and I respect that.
As his father,
I'm really happy to see him like that.
So, I've learned
to accept him with all his flaws,
with all his hang-ups, all his craziness.
I love him and I don't want him to change.
Yesterday I was like Daniela Romo's hair.
-How?
-Shitfaced.
Hey, she's listening.
I can't believe the obscenity!
-Sorry.
-The obscenity.
He gets that from his mom, not from me.
I'm the black sheep.
Hey. We had good times on the catamaran.
Yeah, like when we were
like that kid from The Exorcist.
No way, Aislinn.
Dude, no!
No!
-It was awful.
-One after the other.
But the catamaran was cool.
Then there was that awful storm.
Stop! Please, Eugenio.
-Why's everything my fault?
-Did you see that?
I'm gonna take
more motion sickness pills, okay?
I suggested the catamaran
and I think it wasn't a good idea.
-So…
-But there were nice moments.
We had nice moments within the chaos
of the catamaran. Like when we swam.
-Yes.
-That was my favorite moment.
Let's go!
Push her, Vadhir.
Look at those glutes!
It's fine.
-If it sank, I'd dive for it.
-I'll use a lifesaver...
What do you think? Nice, right?
Well, she's your wife.
We're not gonna comment.
We're not gonna talk about her looks.
-I meant the water!
-Sure.
That fitness program really works.
-Did the trip turn out how you expected?
-No.
Okay. How?
Better or…
-The trip in general or the ship?
-...worse?
The trip was very authentic.
-Interesting.
-Very interesting, unique.
I'm glad they crashed my trip
and that they tagged along.
Because I honestly think
we accomplished some beautiful things.
I like that we became more like friends.
-Great friends.
-Friends.
-I didn't like that.
-No, we loved it.
Did you know they told me
to be more like their friend?
Less like a dad.
If I scolded them,
they went like, "Hey, we're friends."
Stop drinking, José Eduardo.
-I mean…
-Friend.
A friend never tells you to stop drinking.
In fact, a friend says,
"I'll get you another one."
-"Another one."
-Exactly.
-Your blood's boiling.
-I mean, focus on playing.
Didn't we have a talk yesterday?
-So annoying!
-Very annoying.
Buddy, toast with me.
-You didn't like it?
-No.
What do you mean? It was nice.
Sure. But, In the end, you're my children.
But we're not kids. We're adults...
and are now your friends.
-You still have 12 more years with…
-No, stop that.
She's like, "Friend!"
-Friend!
-Just take the whole bottle of soy sauce.
Aitana, when Dad scolds you,
tell him, "Friend." Okay? Always.
-Friend!
-Don't listen to them, honey.
-We're father and son forever.
-Right.
Till therapy do us part.
That was a lot.
We have a wise man here!
Olo!
Remember that
you also started saying, "Olo?"
-Olo.
-Olo.
-Olo. Yeah.
-Olo.
You made me say it. I remember.
You did it very well
'cause you used your hands.
Olo.
And Ale went like this, "Olo."
Olo...
Olo!
-What?
-Say, "Olo."
-Come on, say, "Olo."
-Olo.
Olo!
What's wrong with you?
-You're obscene.
-You weren't like this when we met.
-You know what?
-We were 12, come on!
What happened to you?
-We grew up.
-Puberty.
-My God!
-The neighborhood.
Honey, put away your phone.
We're having a conversation.
I'm getting FedEx notifications
on the delivery of M-fitness products.
-That's right. Making that money!
-Yeah!
Entrepreneurial conversations.
-Businesswomen!
-Right, Ais?
Someone sends you a text
whenever a package is delivered?
-He got paid!
-No, it's automatic!
The notifications are automatic.
It's great because you see
what's been bought,
the payments and the deliveries.
Look at that.
The women
in this family are entrepreneurs.
There's more communication there
than in our relationship.
-Dad, can I ask you something?
-"Ask me!"
Be honest. What would you tell
Season 1 Eugenio
and this season's Eugenio?
I think we all started the first season
not knowing what to expect.
We thought we'd go on a trip,
like, "Everyone do whatever you want."
And we'd have a cameraman
following us and that would be it.
They'd follow us
and we'd have a free video of the trip.
We all felt really cocky,
and went like,
"We got this. It's what we do.
"We'll be in control."
-And then, wham!
-Wham!
Take that! It was tough
because we didn't really know
what a reality show was about.
It was really stressful
and I suffered a lot.
Morocco, for example, was so toxic.
José Eduardo, Vadhir and Aislinn
won't answer the phone.
It's 7:30 a.m. What is wrong with you?
-An hour and a half late.
-Sit down, ma'am…
Eugenio!
You were in danger
and you wanted Aitana to get closer.
Don't worry.
Vadhir!
Do you still smoke?
I might quit tomorrow.
You're hitting the plants, Eugenio!
Don't call me "Eugenio." I'm your dad.
My handsome, cool daddy.
I lost my girl.
Yeah, I think it was the worst trip
of our lives, right?
Yes.
It looked nice on camera.
No, it was rough.
That intense stress we were feeling.
It wasn't even that we'd argue.
It was, like, a tension
that made us uncomfortable...
-Yes.
-...there was a distance.
It took us a long time
to process it and get ready for Season 2.
To trust one another.
Watch it!
Damn it!
José Eduardo, put your things away.
Acomode, acomode.
Enough!
What's wrong with you?
No way!
-What?
-Is it that bad?
No!
Gross.
Good thing you're vegan. Incredible.
I can't sleep.
Can you please put her outside?
If you want her out, I'm leaving too.
Do whatever you want.
You snore too much, sweetie.
Adventure. Danger!
-My God...
-No danger, please.
I feel that this last season
was therapeutic.
Where we cleansed
all the bad stuff from the first season
and some from the second.
This third season helped us
to reconnect as the family we were
-before the trip to Morocco.
-Exactly.
In general, I feel that our family
became stronger after Jamaica.
But It was very intense.
We also know each other better.
I'd never heard them say
the things they said.
We'd never shared moments
like those or cried that much.
I have no doubt
that Jamaica was a turning point.
There's a before and an after.
In the first two seasons,
we got to know a side of each other that…
-We didn't like.
-We didn't like.
And that we could only see like that.
We tolerate each other more.
We saw our ugly sides like never before.
What we experienced as a family
and what we achieved internally
was very special and beautiful.
For me, it was our best trip.
I'm very satisfied with it.
I'm glad it happened.
We learned that we shouldn't yell
and instead say,
"I'll be in my room, see you tomorrow."
And end it there.
I think we grow on each trip.
We learn to live together,
to be a better person within the family,
to be closer,
to put up with each other,
be more tolerant, more loving.
And to accept our mistakes.
The conversation you
when you stayed up till 4:00 a.m.
never would've happened
in previous seasons.
Thanks to those two seasons
and everything we experienced as a family,
we were able to reach
that point on this trip.
-Right?
-Yes.
Eugenio and his three older kids
had a chance to heal many wounds
and to talk about things
they'd never talked about before.
I think you also set boundaries…
-We grew.
-…that you didn't before.
-Don't cry.
-We set boundaries.
We worked out a lot of stuff
that needed work out.
That hurt.
But also make you grow as a person
and especially as a dad.
-How about another trip?
-Yes.
-You?
-Of course.
-If it's a cool place, sure.
-Of course.
-I'm in.
-So, we agree?
We'll travel together more often
now that we get along
and it's easier to get along.
It's not any easier,
but we know how to do it.
I just want to thank you
for being vulnerable,
and for opening up
to knowing each other better on each trip,
and for having healthier dynamics
so we can spend time together
and be respectful to each other.
I really appreciate that.
-Siblings!
-Siblings!
-I felt…
-Thanks for coming.
…proud that you two opened up
and connected more deeply.
But no more catastrophic events, okay?
I know Vadhir opened up like never before,
and Eugenio did, too.
A toast, right? Aitana.
Will you make a speech?
Cheers to another trip.
-That's it!
-Sure! Right!
That's it!
-That's it! Cheers!
-Cheers!
-Cheers to another trip.
-To another trip.
Cheers, darling. Cheers.
For me, these trips are…
They're finger-lickin' good.
I even have fun when bad things happen.
So, let's go! Where to next, family?
Let's go, team.
Should we set a date for the next trip?
-When?
-No?
-Check Ale's agenda.
-I'm going climbing.
-In three months tops.
-Wanna come?
-Three months? I'm in.
-Three months?
-Yes.
-Okay.
-Sound good?
-I'm going climbing if you wanna come.
-You're joking. I want to go.
-Really?
Honey, you can't climb now. You can't.
You can hold the rope for me one-handed.
If you're doing rock climbing,
I can be the one wearing the harness.
Let's go.
Well, Jamaica's over.
I think it was a nice trip.
I think it's one of my favorite vacations.
We proved that what's important
isn't where you go,
it's who you're with.
Now we have to plan the next one,
and I hope it's clear
that there's a big difference
between a vacation organized by Dad
and a trip that's like,
"Spur of the moment. Whatever happens."
Dear Lord!
Come on!
Come on!
One, two, three! Left!
One, two, three! Right!
It's all you!
Dude!
Take that!
I'm glad you're here.
Bear hug!
I love you.
Well, the season's over.
