(MultiCom Jingle)

(shouting and punching)

(kicking and shouting)

- [Director] Cue Harrison.

Harrison!

Cut!

- [Camera Man] Hold
positions please.

- [Director] Where's Harrison?

- He was out back
checking the stunt harness

when I left him.

- Well, get him out here.

(ominous music)

(theme music)

- [Boy] Dad?

- [Child] But you're dead?

- Hardly, someone
tried to kill me.

- Hey I'm Dick Daring.

- Tracy Grace.

- I want you and Tracy
to take over my agency

and run Daring Investigators.

(screams)

(keys click)

(sighs)

- Well boys,

- Favorite flowers of spring.

I got an A+ on that
in grade three.

- I got an A on colorful
leaves of Autumn in grade two.

- Well, I'm glad you're
both such overachievers

but what's the connection?

- Aunt Claire.

- What?

- Yeah, she always love helping
us on our school projects.

- Still does.

- Type in Claire.

(keys chirp)

- Matt Harrison,
professional stunt man,

he was found hanging from a
safety harness on a movie set

of The Blue Dragon, one
of the straps caught

around his neck.

He's in hospital unconscious
in intensive care.

The producers have hired us

to find the cause
of the accident.

- Wait if it's an accident
then what do they need us for?

- Too many unanswered
questions can shut down a film.

The producer wants
this resolved fast.

(beeps)

- Can you imagine crashing
through an office window

and falling 50 stories
onto a car roof?

- And all possible because
of a stunt harness.

- Planning a change of career?

- Well it's a toss up
between this and police work.

- I'm flattered.

- You know now that I think
about it I choose stunt work,

it's triple the pay.

- If I had my way I'd
shut the place down.

- So what, you don't
think it was an accident?

- That's police
business not yours.

- Hey bro, what's up?

- Just working on a
really cool project.

- Jack the Ripper?

- We're doing profiles
on famous people.

- Yeah but Jack the Ripper,
he's a serial killer.

- That's why it's so perfect.

A profile predicts
patterns of behavior.

- I don't think that's what
your teacher had in mind.

- Hey guys, interested
in the latest?

- Casting call for extras
for The Blue Dragon?

- Yeah, today after school,

and I'm going to be there.

What?

I'll get a part in the
movie, I can nose around

without drawing any suspicion.

Somebody's bound
to open up to me.

- I'm coming too.

- No you're not, you're staying
here and making this project

more teacher friendly.

- So why don't you audition,

you've always dreampt
of being a star?

- Yeah on the court,
not on some film set.

- What's the difference?

It's still show biz.

- [Laborer] That's it, that's
it coming through, watch it.

Slow down, slow
down, don't push.

- Okay, well I'm
going to check out

the stunt gear room, okay?

- Okay, I'm gonna go see
about my future in the movies.

(shouts)

- Hiya!

- Hiya!

(phone rings)

- [Mason] Looking for someone?

- Actually I'm here
for extra's casting.

- Good choice, hi, I'm Mason.

- Hi, I'm Tracy.

Do you work here?

- I do stunts.

- Oh, really?

I heard about the accident.

- Have you ever been
before the camera?

- Just school photos.

- You've got the look.

Listen, forget about
being an extra.

I'm going to introduce
you to our director.

- Oh no, that's a bad idea.

- Come on.

- I don't think so.

- This could be your big break.

(stutters)

(mysterious music)

- [Man] Quiet on the set.

- [Director] Now read the lines

just the way they're written,

don't try to push
any emotion yet.

- Okay,

I'm warning you I've
never done this before.

- That's okay.

(buzzing)

Okay, anytime you're ready.

- I know you hate me,
I've always known it

but we need to be friends
now, his life depends on it.

Are you big enough for that
or do I have to do this alone?

- Good.

Good, that was very good Tracy.

- Come on it was awful.

- No, no, no, that was good.

Now I want you to do it again
but really sell it this time.

Okay?

- Okay.

- [Director] When you're ready.

- Look, I know you hate me,
I mean, I've always known it,

but we have to be friends
now, his life depends on it.

So are you big enough for that

or do I have to do this alone?

- That was great,
that was great.

Great.

You're a natural Tracy.

Yeah.

- [Tracy] Thanks.

- Thank you, thank you.

(ominous music)

- So you'll really
take the part?

- Yeah you bet.

- Tracy's gonna be a star.

(scoffs)

- Not in your lifetime but
thanks for the thought.

- So with school and now
this, how are you going

to keep up with the case?

- I'm working on it too.

Just under cover.

- [Dick] Right.

- What are you jealous?

Well, why don't you
audition for it then?

- I'll pass thanks.

- Fine, I'm going to go
home, work on my lines.

See you guys later.

- I'm going to go for a run.

Oh um, found this
in the stunt room.

You want to check it out?

(mysterious music)

- No business like
show business eh?

Those test done on the
harness that choked Harrison?

- No sir,

- Experts, they take
forever and tell us nothing.

How's Harrison doing?

- He's still unconscious.

- He's the one we
need to talk to.

- I've got two stunt men
from the film down stairs

but Mason can't make
it til tomorrow.

- Okay, well then interview
those two right now

but line up the director, I
wanna hear what he has to say.

- Gotcha.

- [Dick] How's it going?

- I've got to get
this assignment done,

I've got a fitting
this afternoon.

- Fitting?

- Costume fitting,
it's movie talk.

- Oh yeah, yeah I knew that.

- They want me down
there in half an hour.

Almost there.

Done, yes!

Um, listen I might be
a little late tonight

so why don't we meet
back here after dinner

and compare notes?

- Yeah alright.

- Hey check this out,

95% on my psychological profile.

- Good work Bobby.

- Jack the Ripper, a cutting
profile of a psychopath,

good title.

- Now that I've got the knack,
who should I profile next?

- How about Tracy?

- Not now, I got to go guys.

- Bobby's an expert, you
might learn something

about your sudden
obsession for acting.

(sighs)

- It's nothing to learn,
I'm a natural, remember?

- [Radio] Can we get a props
person to the desk please?

- [Tracy] Thanks.

- Hey, man,

so, how'd the fitting go?

- What do you mean, a long
black dress with my hair up

and lip gloss and
lots of eye shadow.

(laughs)

- Personally I think they
should leave you natural.

- Yeah, well, tell
that to the director.

- I'm on my way.

(laughs)

- Listen, um, you
round for a while?

- Yeah, apparently,
there's some paper work

and contract stuff that
I have to deal with.

- I've got a meeting down town

but I'll be back before
dinner how about the star

having a coffee
with the stunt man?

- Well if the stunt man makes
interesting conversation

then sure.

(laughs)

(mysterious music)

- We always check and
double check our own gear.

Our lives depend on it.

- Then how do you explain
what happened to Harrison?

- He must have missed something.

The harnesses attach to the
cable by a set of aluminum clips

the metal could have fatigued.

- Then it was an accident?

- Yeah.

(phone rings)

- Bullock here.

Okay, Harrison just came to.

- [Detective] Excellent,
tell them we're on our way.

- We'll be right there.

- He's gonna be alright?

- Yeah it looks that way.

- That's great, you don't want
to lose a man like Harrison.

- Thanks for your help.

- No problem.

(dramatic music)

- You're home early.

- Um, I wanted to get a
head start on my homework.

- That's the spirit.

(dogs bark)

Biology assignment?

- Yeah.

- Can I have a look?

- It's really boring.

- Learning is never boring.

What kind of biology is this?

Looks like tiny bits of metal.

- Well, some
animals ingest them.

- They do?

- They need certain
metals to live.

Humans do too.

- Which animals?

- I haven't come
to that part yet.

- Well when you
find out call me.

(chatter)

- Sorry I'm late.

I got tied up.

- That's okay, it gave me
a chance to learn my lines.

- Listen I see you've
already had your coffee so,

how 'bout dinner?

- Sure.

- Hey Tracy.

- Hi.

- When you have a minute I'd
like to have a word with you.

- Okay.

(soft music)

(coins clatter)

(phone rings)

- Hello?

- [Dick] Bobby.

- What's up?

- Is Tracy there?

- [Bobby] I haven't
seen her all evening.

Where are you?

- Still at school
waiting for her.

- This late, forget it.

- She says she's going
to show, she always does.

- The girl has a
life of her own.

Relax.

- I'm coming home.

(phone rings)

- Where have you been?

Oh, Mrs. Grace, sorry
I thought you were,

Well no, she isn't here.

I don't know.

Yeah,

yes of course I will.

Good night.

(intense music)

Hey bro, We checked everyplace
Tracy's ever hung out in.

Nothing.

What've you got?

- The police have been
looking for her all day.

- Okay, well I'm heading
to the movie set.

Somebody there has
to know something.

- Listen, I finished
my examination

of that metal powder you found.

It's an aluminum alloy
definitely made by a hacksaw.

- You saying that
powder was from a cut?

- One or two strokes worth.

- Enough to weaken the
clip on a stunt harness.

Get the information
to Murphy, fast.

(thunder and rain)

- Dick, I want you to know
we're doing everything we can

to find her.

- Talk to me.

- Your brother's call
made us take another look

at Harrison's stunt harness.

- You were right,
the clip didn't break

from where it was cut.

- So we went back to
the hospital and talked

to Harrison again when he
realized it was no accident

he told us the whole story.

- Harrison found a load of
cash in Mason's duffle bag.

- Mason had pulled a bank job
out west, never got caught.

= Harrison told Mason
he'd keep his mouth shut

if he cut him in.

- Then Mason decided he
didn't want to share the loot

so he rigged Harrison's
stunt gear to fail.

- So how does Tracy fit in?

- Mason has a record

and his escape pattern
is the same each time.

He always takes a hostage.

(intense music)

- And that's
everything you know?

- That's it.

Murphy has his men stationed
at every airport, train,

and bus station, and at
every route out of the city.

- [Dad] Good.

- What do we do now?

- We cooperate with the police

then we continue our
own investigation.

- Like how?

- With a guy like Mason we
have to predict his moves

and the only way to
do that is to work up

a complete
psychological profile.

- Did somebody call my name?

(chatter)

- All units report no
signs of Mason or Tracy.

You think he skipped?

- Let's pray he hasn't.

Any word from Daring's brother?

- No sir.

- I must be nuts to entrust
Mason's profile to some kid.

- Our team hasn't come
up with anything yet.

- Of course not, they're
experts, by the time they figure

something out Mason will
be sunning in Acapulco.

- I should have known there
was something up with that guy.

- How?

- You saw him once when
Tracy was auditioning.

- I could tell, there was
something in his eyes.

- Tracy's tough, she could
take care of herself.

- Not as tough as you think.

- How would you
know, you never talk.

- We talk.

- About cases and
school, that's all.

- We talk when you're not there.

- Yeah right.

- Look we're wasting time okay.

What do you got?

- I'm certain whatever
we expect him to do,

he'll do the opposite.

- [Dick] Right.

Of course he's a stunt man,

his stock and
trade is deception.

- So let's think like he would.

Most people would take
a plane out of here.

So he decides on a car.

- Right.

Next to a secluded motel,
would be the perfect hideout

for a fugitive and his hostage.

- But he wants instant mobility,

so he lives in a van.

- Perfect, scratch the car.

He knows all the roads
out of town are blocked.

- So he finds another way out.

- But he still stays in the van?

- So how could one travel in
a van but not use the road?

(mysterious music)

(cars honk)

(train chugs)

- Any sign of him?

- This is a crazy idea.

And since my guys didn't
come up with anything better

we're going with yours.

- When do they start
loading the cars?

- 15 minutes, we've got
all the parking lots

in the area covered.

- So if we're right Mason will
wait until the last minute

and then drive his
van onto the train.

- And take the autorail all the
way south across the border.

- If your profile is correct.

- [Radio] North lot clear.

- Stand by.

Well it's this lot
or nothing now.

(ominous music)

All units proceed to main
lot, we're moving in.

- What do you mean your
giving me a ticket?

- I'm sorry sir your vehicle's
in violation of Rock Water

municipal ordinance 152b 13.

- What?

- You stayed all
night and didn't pay.

- So you're gonna tow me?

- It's up to us now.

- [Cop] That sir is the
law and it's my sworn duty

to uphold the law, now the tow
trick should be here shortly.

If you have any
problems I suggest you
tell it to the judge.

- Okay, how much to forget
about the whole thing?

- Are you offering me a bribe?

Because if you are I have
to report it and that sir

is a very serious offense.

- Mason!

(engine revs)

- Dick untie me.

- You hang on just
one minute Tracy.

(tires squeal)

- Stop the car.

(sirens wail)

Now!

- Do you really think you
should be driving this way?

(brakes screech)

(sparkler sizzles)

- Here's your welcome home cake.

- Thanks guys.

- So make a wish.

- Okay.

- So?

What'd you wish for?

(beeping)

- If I told you it
wouldn't come true.

(beeping)

- Hey team.

- So we, uh, we got her back.

- Hello Tracy, how are you?

- I'm okay.

- I read the police reports,
you guys are big league now.

Listen, the funeral home in
Rock Water sent me confirmation

that my body has arrived.

- What body?

- The one I sent for
my proper burial,

the one that will convince
Chin-man that I'm really dead.

- Who's body is it?

- You'll find out soon enough.

I've orchestrated
the entire funeral

including the press notices.

You'll be briefed.

Good luck.

(ominous music)

(mysterious music)
