Kimiko Glenn joins Nev in helping Matthew find his elusive Instagram love, Chance. But as they search for answers, they run into unsurpassable roadblocks that make them question whether we'll ever have a chance to find Chance.

who played Brook Soso on the hit series
"Orange Is the New Black."
She's a movie star, a Broadway performer,
an incredibly singer and now a "Catfish" co-host.
- You've done lots of stuff.
- I have a really impressive résumé.
- You have an impressive résumé but I do feel like
you're still known primarily for "Orange is The New Black."

but all of a sudden he says it won't work out."

and he won't even FaceTime with me."

- So tell us a little bit more about you.
What do you do in Atlanta?
- Right now I'm doing accounting,
but I was doing law enforcement.
- Wow! You were in law enforcement?
- I'm a Deputy Sheriff.
- Wait a second, so, like, you know about
background checks and investigations.
Like, can you use some of your police know-how
in this situation?
- Well, it's kind of illegal.
You cannot use, like, government sources
to do a background check on people.
- He plays by the rules. - Right, that's true.
Well, you said in your email that you met this guy, Chance.
- Yes. Chance and I,
we ended up meeting under one of my posts.
And from there we went to texting
and then it just started picking up.
The more we started talking more on a daily level,
found out we had more things in common,
We're both twins.
My twin ended up dying after birth.
- He has a twin? - Yeah, Chance is a twin.
We found out we were twins, we found out, like,
we both, you know, have a thing for both sexes.
Just the more personal we got, the more I started catching
more and more feelings.
Chance is like, "Yeah, I'm down to meet."
We can meet when I come to Atlanta."
But something miraculously happens.
Either, "Oh, my car got hit,"
or it's like, "Oh, my root canal came out."
- You're a smart guy who has dealt with
criminals and people who lie.
Doesn't it feel kind of like BS?
- The excuses don't add up, but when Chance was like,
"Yeah, I'm thinking about moving to Atlanta,"
that was something that literally
won me over right there.
Those type of things were just leading me
to believe more that there's a possible chance that we will
actually build something together.
- Now, this "Been saving myself for him..."
- Yeah? - Was that for Chance?
- That's to keep myself preserved
for that right person.
Someone that I could actually see myself
building a whole future or whole family with.
And honestly, I feel that Chance
would be that right one.
- Wow, I feel like we should meet up and we should dig in.

and then have an excuse why we can't meet up.

So what's a guy like you, handsome,
smart guy with a good job,
good head on his shoulders, doing with some guy
who can't show up? Like, I don't get it.
- First, I thought, like, some of the reasons Chance
was not showing up is because Chance is a trans man.
- Okay. - I kind of thought--

This is a big piece of information.
Can you go back and explain
how you became aware of that?
- Well, like, on social media
I would see, like, a little hashtag that was FTM.
- Like female to male, male to female?
- Yeah, and I didn't have a problem with it or anything
but I know sometimes it's hard for people to,
you know, talk about that.
And I kind of thought that was one of the reasons
behind Chance not showing up.
- What if Chance is just not ready to meet you because he's
not comfortable yet with his body?
- I did consider that,
and, of something like that, I'm very understanding.
That's something personal that you're going through
to make you become the person that you want to
be fully.
But I feel that from Instagram it looks like...
I mean, I don't know what more Chance could be doing.
Like, the facial hair
and then on the phone you hear the voice,
the voice like, [deep voice] "Yeah, what's up?
This, this, or that." Like...
- Does he know that you would be into that
or okay with that? - Yeah, we discussed that
prior 'cause to me it's cool and I was, like,
very receptive to it.
- How deep have things gone?
Like, do you consider yourself together?
- Yeah, like, I'll wake up to, like a "good morning" text
and I'm just sitting there, like, waking up smiling.
And we text all day every day.
- How often do you talk on the phone?
- Maybe once or twice a day sometimes?
- Wait, what? That's a lot.
- Yeah. - Not texting, like talking.

Sounds like then you guys are in a relationship.
- Yes, that is something that I would like
and now that it's coming down to, like, okay,
Chance wanted to move to Atlanta
and I helped Chance with the résumé,
I helped Chance looking up different jobs here.
It's like a possibility of a relationship
when Chance gets here to Atlanta.
- Right. He says he's in Atlanta pretty often.
When he talks about being down here
is he referencing specific things or places?
- Yeah. We were supposed to meet up
at Magic City one time. - The famous strip club?
- Yeah, and I end up going up there to Magic City.
Took a Uber up there and that's when
the root canal came out. - The "root canal"?
- I mean, come on. You've got to know
that some of this stuff is bogus.

- And then, like, even more recently
I've been trying to find Chance
on social media and there's no Chance.

- I can't get to Chance's profile.

- Did he block you? - I asked Chance.
I'm like, "Hey," I'm like, I can't get--"
And he's like, "Well, no, did you block me?"
- And I'm like, "No."
I was like, "Well, check your block list."
- Whoa. Wait, so how long
have you been blocked? - Almost two weeks now.
- Did the social media disappear
at a certain time that you remember?
Like, you had a conversation or something.
- Well, I made a joke, and I was just like,
"If you don't come down this weekend,
I'm gonna call 'Catfish.'"
Chance was like, "Mm-hmm, go ahead."

- I gotta see this guy. Kimiko, you have your phone.

So he's definitely still up.

quickly move into a serious relationship.
- I don't want to do anything with anyone until
I'm with that right one.
And I do feel that Chance is that right one.

Matthew's talking to Chance for three years.
Matthew is excited because Chance, who lives in New York,
is gonna come down to Atlanta,
Matthew even tried to help Chance find a job in Atlanta
but Chance always had some excuse not to come.
- Chance has a twin. That's an important
part of the puzzle. - You're right.

"He was born Leslie but goes by Chance Armani."

I also attached Chance's résumé that I helped him with."

Brianna--I mean, we could--that's crazy.

then a résumé with former bosses
who we can call as references.

As an auxiliary officer?

It could all be a lie.

- It's almost like I've been doing this

So Elizabeth is the twin.

- What's crazy is if I were Matthew
and he gave me all this information
I would not second guess it.
It feels very legit.
- I mean, don't we all lie a little bit on our résumés.
- But if he lied on his résumé,
he could be lying about everything.
Chance could be the most thorough, sophisticated,
convincing Catfish we ever had.
- I just wish that someone could say, "Yes, he exists,"
or something. - Right.

That's suspicious. - What's going on?
Something about that conversation
leads me to believe that there's more information
we're not getting.

Clearly something's up here.
Seems like Chance is aware that we're sniffing around.
- They're hiding something.
- This guy is making up lots of stuff,
his résumé, the phone numbers, disappear on people.
Maybe Chance is just some sort of con artist.
This story just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

- No, but I know that his dad was in the hospital.

we had specific answers
but now I almost feel like we just kind of have
new questions. - [chuckles]

so we went to the résumé you sent us.
Feels very legitimate-- the jobs, the supervisors
with names and phone numbers. - Yes.
- So we just thought, let's call his references
and see if anyone can, like, vouch for him.
- Okay. - So we started with
his most recent job at the post office.
We called this number, and then we got a busy signal.
- Like a fax number? - Like,

- I haven't heard a busy signal in years.
- The '90s. - Right.
So we thought that was kind of weird.
So then we were like, okay,
what about this police department position?
So we called that number. We got the same thing.
A busy signal. Weird.
And then when we looked up the phone number for Yvonne,
the police department, it came back Yvonne [bleep].
Chance's name is Leslie [bleep].
- Yes. - The same last name.
- Yeah. - We looked at
Yvonne's profile on here
and it had some relatives.
Elizabeth, 32, and Leslie, 32.
- Elizabeth must be his twin sister.
- She has to be. - But more importantly,
police officer supervisor Yvonne--
- Is his mom. - That means he gave
the phone number for his mom as a reference.
Which is crazy. It could all be bull[bleep].
- You know, now you have me thinking, like,
what's really going on? - Mm-hmm.
- So then we looked through his Instagram...
- Mm-hmm. - And we found
this girl Hasina. We messaged her.
Hasina called us and we asked how they knew each other.
She said, "Well, we kind of just know each other
through Instagram."
She also said he talks about Atlanta a lot.
He's always talking about some friend at the Magic City.
- Mm. - And you had mentioned that--
- Magic City. - Supposed to meet him up
so we were like, "Whoa. Who's the friend?"
- Okay. - And she was like, "Well,
"I think it's like Wanda,
or Randa or something like that."
Hasina said, like, "I think his friend that works there
is, like, a hairdresser." - Okay.
- We called Magic City, and they kind of confirmed
that there was a Sheranda, kind of pointed us
to her Instagram. - Right.
Do you know this person? - Mm-mm.
- We reached out to her and she called...
- Okay. - And was kind of short.
- Right, she was like, "What is this about?"
And she said, "I don't know Chance.
I'm busy, I'm at work, I gotta go, bye."
So that's a little suspicious.

- Is Randa covering for Chance?
Or was she weirded out and didn't wanna, like,
say the wrong thing?

I'm curious to know why. - We're here to just
kind of get some questions answered.
- So Matthew has been talking to a guy named Chance
for, like, the last three years.
Chance had mentioned to him that he was thinking about
moving down to Atlanta because he comes down here a lot
and Matthew was gonna help him find a job and get settled
into an apartment and, you know, who knows?
