Captain Planet and the Planeteers (1990–1996): Season 4, Episode 20 - Orangu-Tangle - full transcript

Captain Planet:
Our world is in peril.

Gaia, the spirit of Earth,

can no longer stand
the terrible destruction

plaguing our planet.

She sends five magic rings

to five special young people.

Kwame, from Africa,
with the power of Earth!

From North America, Wheeler,
with the power of Fire!

From Eastern Europe,
Linka, with the power of Wind!

From Asia, Gi,
with the power of Water!

And from South America, Ma-Ti,

with the power of Heart!

When the five powers combine,

they summon Earth's
greatest champion,

Captain Planet.

The power is yours!

[ Screeching ]

Man: Over there!

Those two infants
will complete our order.

Stay with the female.

How do we handle
the other one?

[ Gunshot,
orangutan screeching ]

That's how you handle them.

You know nobody wants
to buy older animals.

Look, Mother, twins!

Well, don't just stand there.

Get them down!

All right!
You heard her!

If you have to,
kill the mother.

How can you be
so sure we're tailing

Mame and Stalker Slaughter?

They leave a deadly trail.

Da. They kill 10 birds for
every one they capture alive.

The Slaughters are poachers.

They do not care
about the animals,

only the profit
they get selling them

to private zoos and collectors.
[ Gunshot ]

Sounds like
the slaughter's back on.

Come on!

That fills our order --
two orangs, five gibbons,

four marmosets
and a dozen parrots.

Now, let's head
for the airport.

Get that ape!

You incompetent oaf!

Now we need another baby orang!

Cursed beast!

Linka: Wind!

Wheeler: That's what I call
a blow for freedom, babe!

It's those bleeding-heart
environmentalists.

I'll give them
a bleeding heart.

[ Gunshot ]

[ Screaming ]

Get those apes to
the half-track!

Don't you know
smoking kills?

Watch!

You're up,
Little Mermaid!

Water!

Anybody for a quick dip?

Whoa!

We'll never
catch them now.

Water!

Ma-Ti: Planeteers,
over here!

I cannot believe
the Slaughters!

[ All gasp ]

Suchi!

Look, a baby orang!

Heart!

We won't hurt you.

[ Chittering ]

Aw, it's so little.

I wonder if she is all right.

[ Laughing ]

What a clown.

With that red hair,
she reminds me of "I Love Lucy!"

Hey, be nice, Suchi.

Say "hello" to Lucy.

[ Squawking ]

Gaia: Don't tell me you're
jealous of a baby, Suchi!

Gaia!

Planeteers,
I'm afraid little Lucy

may not survive
without her family.

And between poachers
and development,

there are only a few thousand
orangutans left in the world.

So few?
Yes.

And if this little one
is gonna make it,

you must find her mother.

Lucy's future is
in your hands, Planeteers.

But, Gaia, we don't know
how to take care of a baby.

Then you must find
someone who does, Wheeler.

Man, it looks like the inmates
are runnin' the asylum.

What happened here?
Poachers.

It's nothing new.
Developers want my land.

Poachers want
the animals I rescue.

They all want me out.

The government tries
to protect us.

But there are lots of people

willing to break the law
for a fast buck.

My guess is the same sleazeballs

we're trackin' hit your camp.

I don't care
about the mess.

But they took Zamba,
one of my orphaned orangs.

He's weak and may not make it.

What about Lucy?

That formula will help.

But what she really
needs is her mother.

How will the poachers get
the orangs out of the country?

They'll probably lie
to get export papers

from the Ministry of Trade.

Kwame:
Then that is where we must go

before time runs out
for Zamba and Lucy.

Man: I cannot disclose
official records.

But these killers
are breaking the law!

There is no evidence.

Of course not!

They're not gonna announce
they're smuggling apes!

They'll claim they're
shipping something legal.

This is not your concern.

Oops! Sorry, I'll get it.

Give me those!

Got it! The permit said they're
going to Singapore,

air freight.

Kwame: Then we had better
get back to the airport.

Gi: Before it's too late.

[ Screeches ]

Huh?
Not those kids again!

There's nothing like
an extra pair of sharp eyes.

Stalker! Throw them off!

Yes, Mother.

Oh, no, you don't.

Linka: Look!
He has the animals!

I hate backseat drivers.

Blast those kids!

You have him now, Wheeler!

Great! Where'd he go?

We'll find him.

[ Revs engine,
tires squeal ]

Linka, look out!

Fire!

[ Screams, groans ]

Nevermind him!
Let's get the orangs.

Empty?!
What is it, Gi?

The crates are empty.

They tricked us.

Wheeler: Over here!
Linka's hurt!

Are you okay, babe?

My head, I am so dizzy.

They're getting away!

[ Jet engine roars ]

To the Geo-Cruiser, quickly!

Hurry!

Gi:
Come on! Let's follow them!

-Not in this.
-Now what?

Man:
Hire yourselves a plane?

Huh?
Who are you?

The name's Bailout.

Man, you sure
bailed us out.

I guess that's
how you got your name.

Have you been flying long?

Yep, even used to fly
for animal exporters.

You smuggled animals?

Oh, no. I flew legal.

But lots of little ones
like Lucy died anyway.

So I quit.

You know, you don't even
have to report animals

that die in transit?

But you bust a coffee mug,

and they wanna hear
about it in triplicate!

Dang!

I lose more planes this way.

I have a feeling this is
why they call you Bailout.

Yeah. Only this time,

I forgot to bring
the parachutes.

[ Screaming ]

Hang on, everybody!

It's gonna be a rough landing!

Not if we can help it.

Let our powers combine!

Earth!
-Fire!

-Wind!
-Water!

Heart!

By your powers combined,
I am Captain Planet!

Looks like your plan
has taken a nosedive,

not to mention your plane.

Flying is safe.
It's crashing that's dangerous.

Maybe you should
call him "Bailout"!

Well, if there's any way
I can make this up to you,

I...
Yeah --

change your name to Nosedive.

No more monkey business,
Planeteers.

It's time to find
Lucy's mother.

The power is yours!

This was their plane, all right.

Everything's gone,
including the animals.

Lucy, what is wrong?

Maybe she needs
more of that formula.

Gi: What's the matter?
Lucy is sick.

She needs a doctor!

Kwame: A special doctor
who knows about apes.

The clerk told us
that a woman called a vet

to the airport this morning
to care for a sick orangutan.

The Slaughters?
It must be.

She wasn't sure
which vet showed up.

But we got the name of one
who's good with apes.

I hope he is very good.

This should help
her malnutrition.

Then Lucy will be all right?

Physically, but she
is also depressed.

And apes can die
from depression.

Linka:
She must miss her mother.

Absolutely.

And the best medicine
is to reunite them

as quickly as possible.

We're tryin', Doc. Her mom
was smuggled into Singapore.

We were hopin' you were the vet
who met the creeps

at the airport.
No.

It was probably Dr. Ing.

He deals with
animal traders.

It was Dr. Ing, all right.

He wrote a prescription
for Zamba.

I charmed the nurse
into telling me

the name of the pharmacy.

Charmed? You?

Hey, when you got it...

Anyway, the Slaughters
are supposed to pick up

the medicine around noon.

Gi: Then we better
step on it.

Wheeler:
I sure hope we didn't miss 'em.

[ Car honking ]

Lucy wants to play.
This is a good sign.

We got a winner!

Stalker Slaughter, come on down!

Now it is time for us
to do some stalking.

Linka: Huh, exotic pets
is a funny name

for endangered species.

What do you wanna bet
Lucy's mother is in there?

Can I help you?

Oh, just looking, thank you.

Now, Suchi.

[ Birds screeching ]

Stop!

What are you doing?

We're in!
Nice going, Yankee.

Look at all these poor animals.

Shh!

Stalker: Should we dump
the mother orang?

Mame: Not yet. We need her
to keep the baby quiet.

Let's nail these guys.

Who trapped us?
What's that?

It's those brats again.

This'll hold 'em.

Let's go!

We're locked in!

Bon appetit!

And stay out!

[ Honking ]

Ah!

Come on, let's find the others.

Easy, Wheeler.
No fast moves.

Okay. But maybe if
I give them a hot foot,

we won't look so tasty.

Careful not
to hurt them, Wheeler.

We're about to become tiger chow
and you're worried about them?

They're really
just big pussycats.

Wind!

Linka!
The second pussycat!

Ah!

[ Tiger crashes into door ]

[ Suchi squawking ]

Thanks, guys.

Ma-Ti: Come on!
There is no time to lose!

Kwame:
They have a big head start.

I am afraid we may
never catch them.

Look!

At least we're
on the right track!

Oh, no... It is Zamba,
the orphan.

Is -- is he...

Da.

[ Wailing ]

Now the police
will have to listen.

Ma-Ti:
So you see, Sergeant,

we think the Slaughters
are still in Singapore.

There must be
something you can do.

Possibly, if you're
willing to take a risk.

Hey, we were almost
tiger treats today.

How much riskier can it be?

Mame: It's older than we wanted,
but I'll take it.

Let's do business
again sometime.

Well, how about right now?

Police!
You are under arrest!

Hey, no bailin'
out this time!

Easy now!

Oh, yeah?!

[ Falcon screeching ]

Hang on, Stalker!

After them!

They'll not get far!

Easy prey.

Ugh!

Stalker, you fool!

Stop them!

Yes, Mother.

Not that, you numbskull!

It's too valuable.

Hey! The ship's
leaving without us.

Lily-livered louse!

Mame Slaughter calling
the Sea Merchant.

What do you think
you're doing?

Wait for us!

Man: No can do!

I'm making run for it!

Then so am I!

Whoa!

We've lost them.

Can't you call the Coast Guard
or something?

They'll never find them
in this soup.

Gi:
But we know someone who can!

Let our powers combine!
Earth!

Fire!

Wind!

-Water!
-Heart!

What the...

By your powers combined,

I am Captain Planet!

[ Chuckles nervously ]
Surprise!

Captain Planet:
Ahoy, mates!

Looks like Ma-Ti's
decked out for trouble.

Get back,
you blue baboon,

unless you wanna see
the boat's propeller

make Planeteer puree.

Uh, actually, I'd prefer

if you didn't stir things up,
ma'am, uh, Mame.

Ma-Ti!

Going up!
Now what?

But what about
the animals, Mother?

There are plenty more
where they came from!

I'm saving my hide.

This oughta net me
a nice return!

You see?
Now, that's what I call

getting wrapped up in your work.

[ Blows raspberry ]

My sentiments exactly, mom.

What are you doing?
A-are you mad?

They're dangerous animals!

Hmm, probably what
they'd say about you!

Thanks for your help, Bailout!

It was a bumpy ride,
but, uh,

at least we're lookin'
at a smooth landing.

Hey, look who's here, Lucy!

Well, Planeteers,

this has been
quite an orangu-tangle.

Great work, Planeteers.

But as long as there
are poachers,

Lucy and her family
are in danger.

Yes. But as long as there
are Planeteers, there is hope.

Aw, you'll miss Lucy,
too, eh, Suchi?

Go, Planet!

Many exotic birds
and animals

are not born in captivity.

They are stolen from
their natural habitats.

Linka:
Poachers kill many animals

to get just one into a store.

But wild animals are not pets.

If people refuse
to buy wild birds

and animals, poachers
will stop hunting them.

Ma-Ti: It is up to all of us
to protect our animal friends.

Wheeler: And preserve their
homes in the wild.

The power is yours!

Go, Planet!

Linka: There are lots
of little things

each of us can do to solve
our Earth's problem.

Avoid one-time-use items.

Like paper cups...
And single-serving products.

Instead, use a glass.

And buy in bulk
whenever possible.

Save energy by wearing
a sweater in winter

instead of cranking
up the heat.

Urge your parents to carpool
or ride public transit.

When we use less energy,

we reduce pollution
at the same time.

Remember...
The power is yours!

Earth!

Fire!

-Wind!
-Water!

Heart!

Go, Planet!

By your powers combined,
I am Captain Planet

* Captain Planet,
he's our hero *

* Gonna take pollution
down to zero *

* He's our powers magnified

* And he's fighting
on the planet's side *

* Captain Planet,
he's our hero *

* Gonna take pollution
down to zero *

* Gonna help him
put asunder *

* Bad guys who like to
loot and plunder *

You'll pay for this
Captain Planet!

* We're the Planeteers

* You can be one, too

* 'Cause saving our planet
is the thing to do *

* Looting and polluting
is not the way *

* Hear what Captain Planet
has to say *

The power is yours!
