Captain Planet and the Planeteers (1990–1996): Season 4, Episode 10 - Talkin' Trash - full transcript

Our world is in peril.

Gaia, the spirit of Earth,

can no longer stand
the terrible destruction

plaguing our planet.

She sends five magic rings
to five special young people --

Kwame from Africa,
with the power of Earth.

[ Sirens wailing ]

From North America -- Wheeler,
with the power of fire.

**

From Eastern Europe -- Linka,
with the power of wind.

From Asia -- Gi,
with the power of water.

**

And from South America --
Ma-Ti, with the power of heart.

When the five powers combine,

they summon
Earth's greatest champion --

Captain Planet!

Captain Planet:
The power is yours!

[ Sirens wailing ]

Bozhe moi!

I cannot believe that anything
could push a person

to burn
their own neighborhood.

Kwame:
Think of all of the people
who will be left homeless.

And animals.

Gi:
Look at those fires.

The ash
will pollute the ocean.

This is what happens
when people lose heart.

-There's a hot spot.
-Quick, over there!

-Come on, I need a hose.
-Grab that ladder over there.

-It's a hot spot. Come on.
-Bring it over.

[ Dog barking ]

Gi:
Ma-Ti, what is it?

I'm not sure.

Heart.

Someone is trapped inside.

We will never
get through this.

-We need...
-Water.

Can you find them?

This way.

[ Man grunting ]

Over here!
Help me, please!

My daughter's trapped.

[ Girl crying ]

It is too heavy.

Earth.

-Daddy.
-Hurry!

I don't know what I'd have done
if I lost my little girl.

-How can I thank you?
-There is no need.

It's spreadin' too fast.

If it hits that tanker,
the whole block'll go.

[ Men speaking indistinctly ]

Wind.

Kwame:
It's too much for us.

Then it's time
for a team beam.

Let our powers combine.

Earth.

-Fire!
-Wind!

-Water!
-Heart!

By your powers combined,

I am Captain Planet!

Thanks for inviting me,
Planeteers.

This party's a gas.

Fill her up.

Ohh! Aah!

[ All gasp ]

[ All speak indistinctly ]

[ Groaning ]

[ Coughing ]

[ Coughs ]

Are you all right?

Medium.
Actually, medium rare.

The worst is over
here, Planeteers.

You can take care
of the rest.

The power is yours!

Firefighters
struggle against

the endless blazes
as the rioting continues.

Hundreds of stores
have been vandalized.

And damage is already
in the tens of millions.

I love it.

Fear and looting
in the inner city.

But it's child's play
compared to the unrest

I'm going to ignite
in the Big Apple.

[ Laughs evilly ]

[ Indistinct conversations ]

-Oh.
-[ Chuckles ]

Really, Wheeler?

Trying to flirt
at a time like this?

Give me a break, Linka.

I'm just doin' my job.

Sorry,
I was just kidding.

You have been
in a miserable mood lately.

Is something wrong?

Look, why don't you
just get off of my case?

-Are you okay?
-Yeah, sure.

I-I just have
a lot on my mind.

Come on, my friend.
This is not like you.

What is wrong?

I don't know. It's just,
I talked to my mom.

And she said
my dad's really sick.

His liver's shot --
Big surprise.

Anyway, she wants me
to come home.

-Then you must go.
-What's the use?

My dad can't stand me.
We never got along.

Then you must try
to make peace with him

and stop feeling sorry
for yourself.

Wheeler, I never really had
a chance to know my father.

You cannot pass up yours.

This place was always a pit.

But this is unbelievable.

Aah!

-Aah!
-What's your hurry, pal?

Wheeler:
Wait, please!

No! Hey, stop!

[ Groans ]

Home, sweet home.

[ Siren wailing in distance ]

[ Sighs ]

Here goes nothin'.

Mom: Who is it?

It's me, Mom.

Oh, I'm so glad
you're here.

Dad: So the bum
finally came home.

What's he want?

-Good question.
-Now, honey --

Look, comin' here
wasn't my idea.

Then why don't you
just turn around

and get out of here?

Listen, Mom, I can't deal
with this right now.

I'll be back later.

**

Trash.

That about sums it up.

-What the...
-Aah!

-You okay?
-Yeah, sure.

-Hey, what's goin' on in there?
-It's a rave.

-Rave?
-You from another planet?

Everybody knows
about rave parties.

Man, what a jerk.

Guess I'm out of touch.

I'm lookin' for trash.

-Watch it.
-Watch it yourself.

-Wheeler?
-Frankie?

It's good
to see you, man.

What are you doin' here?

I'm looking for the punks
that ripped off my ring.

[ Chuckles ]
That was you?

What are you doin' hangin' out
with that kind of scum?

Hey!

I want my ring back.

Then try and take it.

Look, I don't want
to fight.

-Just give me my ring.
-What's wrong?

You gonna run away
again, Wheeler?

Do I know you?

Yeah, intimately.

No!

What the...
Trish?

Trish doesn't
exist anymore.

I'm her alter ego, Trash.

What happened to you?

You had all those plans.

You were
a terrific artist, Trish.

I told you,
the name is Trash.

Lookit, you got
your ring, Wheeler.

So buzz off.

Welcome, my dear Trash.

Have you got the stuff?

It's in the alley.

We'll hit
the west side tonight.

Excellent.

Happy trashing.

Frankie, what's the story
with Trish?

It's the same deal
with all of us.

She tried juggling a job
and school, like I did.

But it just didn't work.

Face it. For us, it starts
and ends on the streets.

Hey, you can't
believe that.

[ Chuckles ]
It's reality, man.

Look, if we can't
clean up the hood,

then we may as well
trash it.

But that's insane.

Look, I don't get off
on wasting things.

I just hang with the gang.

What else is there?

Yo, Frankie,
up for some action?

Time to trash a few buildings
and smash up some cars.

No way, you can't --

Hey, you're not
my father.

Besides, if I was
so important to you,

where you been
the last couple years?

Come on, check it out.

No way.

Aw, tough-guy Wheeler
wussin' out again?

Okay. Count me in.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure
it was one of those Planeteers.

I need that eco-meddler

out of my way
by tomorrow night.

I don't want him
fouling up my plans.

Trash and her gang
are going to spark a riot

that will leave this city
a cozy nest --

rat's nest, that is.

[ Laughs evilly ]

[ Chatter ]

Now, to sign it.

See, Wheeler?
I'm still an artist.

I think I'll call it
Ode to the Inner City.

Wheeler:
Trish -- uh, Trash,

please, this is
our neighborhood.

I mean, why destroy it?

Ours? You split
a long time ago.

Yeah. But my parents
still live here.

Come on.
Don't you remember

how my mom
used to make you dinner,

how she loved your paintings?
They're still up.

You mean your daddy
didn't sell 'em for booze?

Great.

Wheeler:
What are you guys doin'?

We're hitchin'
a ride downtown.

You're jumpin' a train?

It's a kick.

It's also an excellent way
to get killed.

So what's your point?

Come on, Wheeler,
or should I say, "weenie."

[ Clucking ]

Run home, chicken.
Run home to your mother.

Dad: I see you're still
runnin' with those losers.

Some things never change.

Yeah, some things never do.

Skumm: Tell me what you're doing
with that red-headed kid.

Look, he's just a guy
I used to know, okay?

So what's the big deal?

I don't want you
hanging around with him.

He's a bad influence.

Geez, everyone's
my father lately.

Where does he live?

Hey, just leave him
out of it.

Hey, he's that lush
Wheeler's kid.

-Who asked you?
-Find out what's eating her.

And the Wheeler kid?

Off him.

Hey!

[ Both laughing evilly ]

You dirty rats.

Fire!

Watch out! Watch out!

[ Both yelling indistinctly ]

Skumm:
Hey, firebug.

I could use a destructive guy
like you on my team.

Care to join Trash
and the gang?

Skumm, you slimy rodent!

I'll take that as a no.

Aah!

Too bad the pyro planet pest
won't be around

to see his trashy ex-girlfriend
light up the town tonight.

[ Laughs evilly ]

[ Coughing ]

Fire!

[ Sirens wailing ]

[ Coughing ]

Man, this stuff
is outrageous.

It should definitely
liven up the party.

All right.
I'll catch up with you

at the convention center.

Mom: You've got to bend
a little, too, please?

Don't lecture me, Mom.

Me and Dad'll
never see eye to eye.

Look, I know he doesn't
always show it.

But your father loves you.

Come on, Mom.

You know he doesn't
want me here.

I'm gonna take a walk.

I'll -- I'll be back
for my stuff a little later.

Hurry.
We'll mount this one.

I thought you'd
never show up, Trash.

Come on, come on, come on.
Let's go!

T-Trash, wait.

Wheeler, get out
of my face!

Listen to me!
You're wasting your life.

Look, I'm not in the mood
for one of your lectures.

Forget it, then.

Just tell me where
I can find Frankie.

-Try the morgue.
-What do you mean?

Frankie froze, okay?

He lost his nerve
at the tunnel.

Then he lost his head.

-Frankie's dead?
-He's probably better off.

How can you be so cold?

Why don't you just crawl
back under your rock

and leave me alone, okay?

Skumm's on his way.

Trish! Trash!

[ Sighs ]
Here goes nothin'.

Trish, wait!

Aah!

Hang on!

Aah!

Help!
You got to help me, please.

I warned you to stay away
from that planet punk!

Now you'll see how
disposable Trash really is.

Come on.

[ Sighs ]

Look. Thanks.

-Sure.
-I just can't believe

that Skumm
would let me die.

But I didn't.

I forgot who
my real friends were.

Don't sweat it.

What we need to worry about
right now is Skumm's plan.

Oh, what's the use?

Hey, stop feelin' sorry
for yourself.

Nothin' is gonna change
in your life until you do.

There's another meeting
at the convention center,

a bunch of bigwigs talkin' about
cleanin' up the inner city.

Skumm's gonna torch 'em.

Let's go.

Listen up.
Skumm's crossed us!

We've got to stop him.

Skumm: Are you ready?

The deal's off, Skummface.

No problem.
I never really expected

children to execute my plan.

I just wanted you around
to take the heat.

And you will.

Fire!

-How the --
-I have lots of hidden talents.

Stay here.
I'll take care of Skumm.

Ready or not, here I come!

Time to cut
the apron strings.

[ Laughs evilly ]

No!

You're a persistent
piece of trash.

What's she doing?

[ Engine clanking ]

[ Coughing ]

Trash!

[ Gasping, coughing ]

[ Continues coughing ]

Are you okay?

I am now.

You guys have done
a fantastic job

cleanin' up
the neighborhood.

Thanks. We dedicated
the project to Frankie.

So, where you off to now?

Back to the Planeteers.

I just got to go sneak into
my folks' apartment

and grab my stuff.

Aren't you gonna try
and set things right

with your dad first?

It's no good.
He can't stand me.

Like someone I know
once said,

"Nothing's gonna change
till you do."

Stop feelin' sorry
for yourself, Wheeler.

Maybe I'll go home
and give it one last shot.

You don't have to.
Your dad's here.

-What?
-I invited him.

[ Coughs ]

I bet you think you done
somethin' pretty special.

Look, Dad.

Well, I sure think
you did.

It's a miracle.

You shouldn't be
down here, Dad.

Ah, I'm okay.

I heard you were leavin'.

I wanted to say thanks
for comin',

uh, to see your mom.

Right. You take care
of yourself, Dad.

Yeah. Yeah, you, too, son.
Don't be a stranger.

Well, time for me
to hit it.

I'm glad to be leaving
the place in such good hands.

Like your dad said,
don't be a stranger.

I won't.
Hey, take care, Trash.

The name's Trish.

-Go, Planet!
-Go, Planet!

Environments aren't just places
where plants and animals live.

Wherever you are
is an environment,

whether it's your
bedroom or schoolyard.

And your environment
is more than

simply the physical things
around you.

It's also about people
and how they interact.

People who sell drugs and fight
create a negative environment.

But if those same people
changed their attitudes,

they can help create
a healthy environment.

Don't be part
of the pollution.

Be part of the solution.

-Go, Planet!
-Go, Planet!

Ma-Ti: Today's wasteful habits
can become tomorrow's problems.

Kwame:
But there are easy ways

to conserve
our planet's limited resources.

Mop up spills with sponges
instead of paper towels.

Save paper used on one side.

Use the other side
for phone messages.

Pack your lunch
in a reusable container.

In a year, you will
save hundreds of bags.

See if you and your friends
can come up

with other ways to reduce,
reuse, and recycle.

-The power is yours!
-The power is yours!

Earth!

Fire!

Wind!

Water!
Heart!

All: Go, Planet!

By your powers combined,
I am Captain Planet!

* Captain Planet

* He's our hero

* Gonna take pollution
down to zero *

on the planet's side *
