Big Sky (1997–1999): Season 1, Episode 4 - It Only Takes One - full transcript

(Gentle music)

(Plane engine roaring)

(Plane taking off)

(Footsteps)

- Hey Ronnie, great day for it!

- Hit it, hit it - morning.

- G'day!
- Chris, hit it!

- Oh!

(Door closing)

(Phone ringing)

(Door opens)

- Hey, Lauren, I got this...
- Oh we're in a meeting.

- Oh, I'm sorry.

- [Lauren] Simon kroger,
this is Chris manning.

Chris, this is Simon kroger.
- The chief pilot.

- No, I'm the chief pilot, pal.

Just a joke, excuse me.

(Door closes)

- See what I mean?

- I certainly do.

- Hey, don't go in there,
she's got a big meeting.

- Oh, thanks for telling
me, what is it?

- Like mega.

- Mega what?

- Don't know but she's fully
serious about something.

(Door opens)

- What's this guy's story?

- Oh, just someone I'm
doing some business with.

Shay, down in the old filing
cabinet in the rec room,

can you get me the rental files

for this place and the hangar?

- Sure, how far back?

- As far back as they go.

- Okay.

- Lauren.

What is this guy, a historian?

- No, a lawyer.

(Heavenly music)

(Plane engine passes)

(Toilet flushes)

(Sighing)

(Door slams)

(Chuckling)

- What?

- Everything go okay?

- You look a little flushed.

- Get this back to Michael's room.

- Do it yourself.

Come in handy?

- None of your business.

Anybody got any wrapping
paper or something?

- Will this do?

I wonder how they test 'em

I mean, how do they count 'em

- shut up, Scotty.
- Nah, I'm serious.

I mean, it's a sperm count, right?

What do they do, do they
count them one-by-one

or do they give them all a name

and call out a roll, or what?

- Scotty, there ae 17
million in a teaspoon.

- And it only takes one.

- Everybody finished?

Anybody got anymore happy,
little semen jokes to share?

(Chuckling)

- You over did it, he's not joking.

- No, he didn't mind.

- Oh yeah?

Well, how would you like to
have radiation sickness?

How would you like to think

you'd never have kids in your life?

- I've never thought about it.

- Yeah, guys never do.

- Okay, I'll do the full figures

but it'll come up
positive, I guarantee it.

- (Laughs) It's just such a surprise.

I was starting to get
used to the place.

- Yeah, last few weeks must
have been dreadful for you.

- True.

- I've already done some sounding out.

Diamond air will be interested,
scarfield aviation,

couple of others.

I know your father nearly
sold to German and neele

at one stage.

- Well, do it quietly.

I mean, if word gets around too early.

(Door opening)

- Oh, you'll also have
to keep it quiet from

your people here.

No use scaring the horses.

- Okay.

- I'll get back to you straight away.

- Thanks!

(Footsteps)

- Hey Ronnie!

Lauren's hired this
hotshot looking lawyer.

I reckon she's up to something.

- And?

- Well just keep your
ear to the ground.

- Sure.

Why don't ya ask Shay?

- Well I did, she doesn't know either.

That's what's got me worried.

(Gentle music)

(Door closes)

- [Doctor] Duper, I'm not your doctor.

- It's a favor, please?

- But the analysis is only gonna prove

what you've already been told.

- I know, I mean you
know, who babies anyway?

It's not such a bad thing.

- So why do you want more tests?

- Well, why not?

I mean hey, my equipment's working.

- Yeah, but it's not
about your equipment.

It's about motility.

The swimming strength if
you know what I mean.

Look, these tests are never wrong.

- Just one more?

You know, just to be sure.

- Alright look, I'll put
it through the lab,

after that at least you know
what you're working with,

'kay? - Yeah.

I saw a naturopath on the way here,

he gave me some stuff to take.

- Oh good.
- Yeah.

- That's great I mean, it
can't hurt to try them.

So let's have it.

(Paper rustling)

(Lauging)

Very nice.

(Receding footsteps)

(Sighs)

- Oh there you are!

You know you're down to
deliver those tractor parts.

- Yeah, hang on.

(Plane engine roar)

(Eerie music)

(Gagging)

(Sharp breathing)

(Gentle music)

- Wilmot tower, this is
Juliet Oscar Charlie

on final approach.

- [Voice on radio] Juliet Oscar
Charlie this is wilmot tower

clear to land, good day.

(Wheels thudding)

- [Shay on radio] Juliet Oscar
Charlie this is big sky base.

Chris, I've just received
instructions for you.

You have to pick up the prisoner
from the police station.

- Thanks, Shay, Juliet Oscar Charlie.

(Footsteps)

G'day, Chris manning, big sky.

Here to pick up the prisoner.

- Yeah, just in time for the paperwork.

Then we'll go off and
have a bite of lunch.

- Lunch?

- Yeah, well they get a bit dirty on us

if they don't get their dinner break.

And I don't suppose
you're gonna provide

in flight catering.

All right, first page, then there,

there, and there.

Wait a minute, there's another one.

Yep, that's the one.

And there.

(Licking finger)

(Paper rustling)

- Righty-o, let's go and get him.

- Ah, hold on, let's not rush it.

Let's just make sure he likes you.

(Snorting)

- Well, what's he been charged with?

- Assault with a deadly
weapon, assault occasioning

actual bodily harm.

You know, it's lucky he
didn't kill the bloke.

(Laughing)

Don't worry, you fly the plane,

I'll keep him quiet up the back.

(Footsteps)

(Bars rattling)

Okay wal, escort's here to take you

to front the magistrates.

(Door creaking)

Oh come on wal, let's not
go through this again.

(Chains rattling)

I'm gonna count to three, wal.

One.

Two.

Three.

(Menacing music)

(Flatware clanking)

Oh, lovely della, getting
better every moment.

(Dishes clattering)

- What exactly is that?

- Curry prawns, house specialty.

They know just how I like 'em.

(Satisfied smacking)

- [Chris] You want some of that?

- They give me a rash.

- You want a burger or something?

- Ta.

No beetroot, though.

- No beetroot, though.

(Soft country music playing)

- Here's the goober
come to take wal away.

The only mistake he made
was not finishing the job.

- That bank manager's a dog.

- I wouldn't know, I just
drive the plane, boys.

- You better watch yourself, mate.

The people around here like wal.

- I'm sure they do.
- How would you know?

(Dish hits counter)

- Excuse me gents.

- It's a mistake, it has to be.

Someone's got their wires crossed.

- Dream all you want, but
the word's never wrong.

I got it first hand
down at the arrow club.

Chris asked me to check around.

- Big sky's getting sold?

- She's breaking it up
and flogging it off.

That's what they're saying anyway.

- What do you mean breaking it up?

- Well, she signed a real estate lease.

She's selling the planes,

she's selling the licenses.

I suppose she figures
she gets more that way.

And then the place has
been losing money.

- Why haven't we been told any of this?

- [Ronnie] Mate, they never tell you

anything until the paperwork's sorted.

- She wouldn't, I know she wouldn't.

- And why not?

She might as well flog it

while there's something worth flogging.

- [Shay] She's on our side.

- [Chris] And where's
the evidence for that?

She doesn't want to be here.

- She's been learning to fly.

- Big deal.

- You can't blame her, really.

We've given her a hard time.

She's rich and ideal,
what does she wanna

be messed up in flying for?

- She's not rich, she's broke.

- So that's why she's
selling the place.

- Where's Chris?

- Area control this is
echo whiskey Victor

tracking 303 degrees at 1308,

climbing to 8,000 feet, over.

- [Voice on radio] Echo whiskey Victor,

hold present course at 8,000.

- Echo whiskey Victor.

(Soft music)

(Propellers whirring)

(Toilet flushes)

(Moaning)

- [Ned] Oh, that's a big 'un.
- Look man, I gotta get back.

I can't hang around all day.

- He'll be out of action for days.

- Hey mate, I gotta get back.

Let's make it some other day, yeah?

- [Policeman] Nah, magistrate's
expecting him tomorrow.

Besides it took me two weeks

to get the paperwork fixed for today.

- Well that's not my problem is it?

- Could be mate, you might
have to take him yourself.

- But what about the other
bloke back at the station?

- He's off handling a
domestic at wilga!

- What, you got two cops
in town, that's all?

- Cutbacks. (Wretching)

(Vomiting)

- Afternoon, is Lauren here?

- No, I think you've missed her.

- Oh, she was going
to be here I thought.

- No, I think she was due to
go on the run to broken hill.

But if you'd like I'll get
her to call you tomorrow.

- Oh.

- Simon, come in.

Shay.

- Coffees?

- What's wrong?
- Nothing.

- Strange girl sometimes.

- Knowing this is a strange place.

- Yes it is.

- So, let's get you out of here.

Have a look at this.

Better than I had figured.

(Case snapping)

Now, sign these.

The lease deal's the topper.

You'll come out of this
looking very healthy indeed.

Well these charter agreements,

there's not much we can do about them.

They'll be on the open
market once you're out.

Not worth fighting for.

(Traffic passing)

- Look, I can't go anywhere,

especially not in a bloody
plane, think about it.

- I'm a pilot, I'm not a cop.

I can't take responsibility for him.

- Well suit yourself,
I'll get some other Bob.

- Now wait a minute.

Big sky's got this contract.

- Yeah, and you won't deliver.

Looks pretty straight forward to me,

I'll just ring the head office.

- Now wait a minute, wait a minute.

We work for these contracts,
we need the business.

- Okay then, you want the job or not?

Look, he's handcuffed, you
just stick him in the back,

you're laughing.

- He's wanted for assault
with a deadly weapon.

- Look, cuff him to something solid.

You're sweet, I'll ring through,

there'll be blokes on the ground

waiting for you when you get there.

He'll be off your hands
as soon as you land.

(Pained grunting)

(Footsteps racing away)

(Tense music)

(Calm music)

(Tires crunching)

(Doors closing)

- This yours?

- No, it's the company's.

- Nice.

- Yeah, it looks better
from the inside.

(Door opening)

- That'll do, flyboy!

We told you this was a bad idea.

Now just step forward a bit.

- Wal.

(Gravel crunching underfoot)

- I reckon this - shut up.

- Now really - I thought I told

you to shut up.

(Keys clicking)

What's taking so long?
- I'm going as fast as I can.

You thought we was a couple
of dumb country Hicks.

- Old ned never even saw it coming.

- Prawns come with bta.

- It only takes one.

(Laughing)

Let's go, Bob.

(Footsteps)

- Down!

(Intense music)

(Cuffs clinking)

(Egine revving)

(Wheels skidding)

- Jimbo James, hm.

Echo whiskey Victor,
this is big sky base.

Jimbo, come in.

- [Jimbo on radio] Echo
whiskey vitor, go ahead Shay.

- Jimbo, a letter has just
been couriered by the hospital

and I think it may be
the pathology report.

Do you want me to open it?

- [Jimbo on radio] Yep, go for it.

- Thank you.

(Paper ripping)

Okay, jimbo James, blah blah blah blah.

Okay, "the motility still
below the normal parameters

by which there could be
expectations of fertility."

Oh, I guess it's not very good news.

But hey, jimbo, look
at the bright side.

It could just mean that they're
not very good swimmers.

- Yeah, okay, thanks Shay.

Echo whiskey Victor.

(Plane engine humming)

(Latch opening)

Hi, whoa, maybe I'd better carry this.

- Thanks.

(Grunting)

- Hey, we're both walking the same.

(Laughter)

(Pained howling)

You all right?

- It's not supposed to be
due for another two weeks.

- Here, maybe you should sit down.

(Heavy breathing)

I can get you a water or something.

Where's the dad?

- He's gone to town.

He won't be back till tomorrow.

- Where's your house? I mean,
I can drive you there.

We can call an ambulance.

- Here, it'll take too long.

- Well,

(wailing)

(Grunting)

(Birds calling)

(Anxious music)

- [Shay on radio] Juliet Oscar
Charley this is big sky base.

(Metal rattling)

Chris it's me, if you
can hear me, respond.

Chris.

Chris, are you there?

- Okay, here we go.

(Buckles locking)

You all right?

- What do you think?

- I'll get you to the
hospital really soon,

just hold on, okay?

- Hold on.

(Yowling)

- Do you like music?

- What?
- Music, you know,

something to take your mind off it?

- Yeah, anything.
- Right.

Okay, hold on to your socks.

(Fast banjo music)

(Plane engine roaring)

(Metal clinking)

(Propellers humming)

- Thank you, wilga, this is
echo whiskey Victor, out.

Okay, we'll be there in 25 minutes,

they'll meet us at the airstrip!

- 25 minutes?
- It's as quick as I can!

- The baby is coming!

- Okay, just try and stay calm.

- Stay calm, it's coming!

Now!

(Water running) Oh god!

- Echo rudder rudder
rudder, just, okay,

take it easy, just, nobody panic, okay!

(Plane engine revving) -
[Debbie] What are you doing?

- [Jimbo] I'm taking us down.

- Where?

- To your place, if we're
gonna have a baby,

we're gonna have it on the ground!

(Crying)

(Heavy breathing)

(Fast banjo music)

(Wheels thudding)

(Propellers churning)

- I'm heading into town
so I'll see you tomorrow.

- Okay, bye.

- What's wrong, have I done something?

- Do you like it here?

- Yes, of course I like it here.

(Snorting)

- That's what I thought you'd say.

- Shay.

- Nothing.

(Footsteps)

(Menacing music)

(Tires crunching)

(Brakes squealing)

(Door closes)

- You all right?

- Oh, I'm terrific, wal.

It's a lovely spot.

- Well I'm sorry about that.

Thickheads, I told 'em
it was dumb idea.

- Where'd they get to?

- The pub, I told 'em
I wanted to lie down.

Couldn't leave you stuck
out here all night.

Besides, I'm supposed to
go to court, aren't I?

- Yeah.

Get these things off me
and we'll get going.

You did get the keys?

(Groaning)

- Hang on, don't go away.

(Footsteps)

(Shears clacking)

Snippy snippy, won't hurt a bit.

(Anxious music)

- Juliet Oscar Charley,
this is big sky base.

(Radio static)

Chris has disappeared.

- No panic, he's probably
stuck somewhere.

- [Jimbo on radio] Big sky
this is echo whiskey Victor.

- Go ahead echo whiskey Victor.

- [Jimbo on radio] I've
got a slight problem

with the trip to hospital.

I'm gonna need a doctor
on the radio, now!

I've got a woman in labor

and contractions every two minutes!

(Propellers winding)

- What's so funny?

- Those blokes, they couldn't organize

a chook raffle in a pub!

The wheels never even came off.

- What?

- They said they fixed the
plane so it couldn't take off.

(Engine winding down)

- Are you out of your mind?

- How did you think we were gonna land?

Didn't occur to you we might
need wheels for that?

- Oh.

- Huh?

Don't leave it.

(Tools twisting)

Give me the handset will you wal?

I gotta call the base.

The radio?

Ra-di-o.

- Got ya.

(Head bumping)

Bloody hell.

(ratchet twisting)

- Now you have the gear
from the medical kit,

scissors, something
to tie the cord with?

- Yep, got the lot.

- [Doctor on radio] Good,
what about a towel,

something warm to wrap the baby in?

- No, nothing.

- Thermal blanket in the emergency kit.

- [Jimbo on radio] Good one.

- Big sky this is Juliet Oscar Charley,

you looking for me, Shay?

- Yeah, but I can't talk now,

I'm like helping jimbo with his baby.

- Juliet Oscar Charley.

- Right, how's the mother?

- Well, it doesn't look like
she's enjoying herself,

there's no time between contractions.

(Heavy breathing)

- [Doctor on radio]
Sounds like she's ready.

You got the gloves on? - Yep, now what?

- [Doctor on radio] Can
you see the baby's head?

- No, not yet.

- Well, when you can,
she's ready for delivery.

Once you can see the baby's head fully,

tell her to pant, not push.

She can't push until
you're sure that the cord

is not tied around the baby's neck.

- Okay.

- Oh god!

- Don't push till I say so, okay?

(Panting) Oh, I can
see the baby's head!

Well now what?

- Well, now we're ready to have a baby.

- Well maybe you are doc!

(Calm music)

(Plane engine passing)

- Yeah, I like this plane.

You see 'em go over, never
realize how nice they are.

Not anymore, I bet.

- This your first offense?

- Of course, what do you
think I am, a crim?

- It's a pretty serious
charge, assault.

- He had it coming.

- I heard you tried to
shoot the bank manager.

- He came over to my place
and wanted to take it over.

So I pulled the rifle out and
let one fly over his head.

- So you didn't fire at him?

- Nah, didn't want to
hurt the dobie mongrel.

- So how come they charged
you with assault?

- Well, I let one blast.

He turns and bolts.

And he trips and whacks his
head on his own bumper bar.

He never could get out of his own way.

He got concussion.

The bank wanted to make
sure I carried the can.

(Heavy breathing) - I can see the head.

The cord's clear.

- All right, she can push now.

The shoulder will turn.

The baby should come free
with the next contraction.

(Panting)

- You hear that, you're doing great.

Okay, easy does it, you can push.

Okay, yep.

(Strained groaning)

- That's it, come on little bloke.

That's it, push, easy does it.

(Panting) Come on little fella.

This is fantastic!

(Strained grunting) Unbelievable,

come on keep going!

Yes, here he comes, come on,

out ya come! (Baby crying)

Yes, it's a girl!

(Cheering)

(Laughing) (Baby crying)

Little baby girl, yes, a
little baby girl, shhh.

- [Shay] It's a girl!

- It's a girl, maybe I should
break out the good stuff, eh?

- [Lexie] Hey, I'll get the glasses!

- A baby girl, is that cool or what?

- You can go meet your ma,
welcome to the world.

(Blanket crinkling)

Yeah, who's a pretty little girl?

Here you go.

(Baby fretting)

Here she is, careful.

(Soft music)

(Gloves snapping)

(Chuckling)

Ah, yeah.

(Crickets chirping)

- [Chris] Tower this is Juliet
Oscar Charley descending

to 2,000 feet inbound.

- [Man on radio] Clear to
descend Julia Oscar Charley.

Bring it down to 1,500

but delay for clearance to land, over.

- Roger tower.

On descent to 1,500 then holding.

(Calm music)

(Wind blows)

- This is real good.

Check out those lights,
they go forever.

- [Chris] Yep, no matter
how many times you fly.

(Engines revving)

- Oh, what's that?

- That's manly, queenscliff,
freshwater, curl curl.

- You mean all that black out there,

that's the pacific ocean?

- That's the one.

(Gentle music)

(Laughing)

- [Jimbo on radio] Big sky base
this is echo whiskey Victor.

- Yes jimbo, what is it?

- Yeah, there's a problem, okay?

The baby's fine but I
can't stop the bleeding.

And the ambulance isn't gonna be here

for quite a while.

- Well the doctor's just gone,
I'll try and catch him.

- Yeah, well, get him back, okay?

I'm getting really worried,

there's blood everywhere.

- [Lexie on radio] Copy
that, we'll get him in

quick to you - thanks.

(Blanket crinkling)

Right, you're okay.

- [Man on radio] Juliet
Oscar Charley approach,

contact Sydney tower now
on frequency 120.5.

(Wheels thudding)

(Propellers humming)

- No, we've planned for her.

We just thought it was
time to have babies.

- That's so great.

- Have you got kids?

- No, never really thought about it.

Except for prevention.

(Chuckling)

Now that's all out.

- Why?

- I just found out I
can never have kids.

- I'm sorry.

- Didn't worry me, really didn't.

Just makes me feel
really old or something.

(Crying)

Hey, stay with me.

(Soft music)

Isn't she beautiful?

(Murmuring)

When it's her birthday, maybe,

do you think I could?

- [Lexie on radio] Jimbo,
this is big sky base.

We got a doctor, jimbo,
did you copy that?

- Yep.

- [Lexie on radio] He's
just arrived, hang on.

- Okay, doctor's here, doctor's here.

Hey, come on.

(Shivering)

(Propellers humming)

(Chuckling)

(tv program playing)

- Hey, I'm delivering wal Dennis.

- What was that again?

- Wal Dennis, sergeant banks

was calling through from wilmot.

- Don't have it.

- So, what do we do now?

- I'll just have to take you
to the cop shop myself.

- Fair enough.

Couldn't stop to pick up a pie

or something on the way, could we?

That burger didn't do much.

- Yeah, why not.

- [Doctor on radio] You
should have her head low

and her legs elevated.

Staunch as much as you can

and try to keep her from panicking.

- Yeah, okay, it's not doing much good.

- [Doctor on radio] You're doing fine.

How's her temperature?

- Not too flash, she feels cold.

- [Doctor on radio] Keep
her as warm as you can,

she could lose consciousness
with blood loss.

- You're doing fine.

Okay thanks, doc, just
don't go anywhere, okay?

- [Doctor on radio] I'll be right here.

- When's the ambulance getting here?

- It'll be here soon, any tick.

Okay, everything's fine, okay?

Hey, you never told me why
your hubby went to town.

- Get money to pay you
for the tractor parts.

- What, pay me?

I was just delivering.

- I told him that.

He likes to be on the
safe side just in case.

- Lucky he wasn't here for
this then, aren't ya.

(Chuckling)

(Sirens wailing)

Over here!

(Engine slowing)

She's over this way.

(Doors closing)

- You see that?

(Giggling)

Did you see that?

- Here your tongue's hanging out.

You got a girlfriend, wal?

- Not since Marie cleared out on me.

- What happened?

- She took off with a shearer.

Nice bloke, we used to play poker.

- That's tough.

- Yeah, I miss 'im.

- You know, that's the
best pie shop in town.

They make these little apple pasties,

wal, what are you doing?

(Whimsical music)

(Waves breaking)

(Laughing)

(Splashing)

(Giddy laughter)

(Gurney rattling)

- She's okay, we're just gonna

get her blood pressure back up.

- Will she stop bleeding?

- Yeah, you did everything right.

- How about the little one?

- [Emt] We'll get the pediatricians

to give her the once
over but she'll be fine.

- Isn't she beautiful?

Isn't she?

You hear that, your mum's
gonna be all right.

- All thanks to dad, eh?

(Blanket crinkling)

(Tender music)

(Tubes hissing)

- So I'm thinking what's
it all worth, you know?

It's all I got.

What have I got if they take the farm?

- But you must have known

you couldn't stop that from happening.

Not with a shotgun, you
must have known that.

- Yeah, maybe, I just
wasn't thinking straight.

I was bloody angry, I'll
tell you that much.

- Ready to rock and roll, you coming?

- Yeah, sure.

- Here, I'll take her

if you like. - No, no, it's all right.

- You ready then?
- Yep.

(Gate closing)

- This bank manager, is he all right?

- Yeah, sure, just a cut across here.

Where he landed on the bumper bar.

He's not a bad sort of
bloke, I don't blame him.

It's those city bastards,

the ones pulling the strings.

I tell ya, they're asking for it.

- Well I don't know
anyone that likes 'em.

- Well I hate 'em.

Putting blokes like me out of business.

How's that for a job, would you do it?

- Aw, that's not the point.

- If they came to your place

and told you they wanted the keys,

would you hand 'em over?

No, you wouldn't.

But that's what they wanted.

The intercot bank, we live to serve.

I tell ya, I'd like to get
square with that lot.

- What about your lawyers,
what do they reckon?

- (Chuckling) They reckon
I should plead guilty

and take what I get.

- But you're not a crim.

Tell 'em to pull their fingers out.

The magistrates know what's going on.

Wal? - It's nice here.

The water, the waves,
everything, it's good.

(Waves breaking)

(Seabirds calling)

(Waves breaking)

(Cans crinkling)

(Footsteps)

(Coins clanking)

- Come on, come on, answer it.

Yeah, Scotty, Scotty, it's me, yeah.

Now look, I know, I know it's early.

Just, I need your help.

I need you and Lexie to
meet me straightaway, okay?

Yeah, look, just get dressed
and meet me at big sky,

I'll explain la...

Oh no, he's got my car.

(Phone clicking)

(Tense music)

(Sirens wailing)

(Horns honking)

(Distant planes passing)

(Door closes)

(Papers rustling)

(Metal sawing)

- So how dangerous is he?

- He's not, he's harmless, if.

- I thought you said he shot someone?

- He shot at someone.

Sounds worse than it is.

- Worse than assault
with a deadly weapon,

what are you talking about?

- [Chris] Look, you
wanna help me or not?

- [Scotty] Well maybe he
gave you a clue last night.

What'd you guys talk about?

- Well nothing much,
everything I suppose,

he's quite a nice bloke.

- Who's just stolen your
car and done a runner.

- What about relatives?

- No, well there was an
ex-wife or something.

- So where's she?

- Oh, we don't know, she
ran off with a shearer.

- Mm, we did bear our souls, didn't we?

- What else did you talk about?

- His property, the bank and footy,

how I started flying.

The bank.

(Quick footsteps)

- You know, I'll never be
able to thank you enough

for what you did.

- It was just one of those things.

I happened to be there.

It could have been anybody.

- But you helped me stay calm.

I think I said some
pretty horrible things.

- Yeah, you did.

(Laughter)

Do you think it'll be all right,

you know, down the track
if, if it's all right,

if you could let me know how
you're both getting on?

- I'll send you a photo.

- Oh, that'll be great.

Because...

- Debbie.

I got here as fast as I could,

how are you feeling?

- So so.

- Oh yeah, oh Deb, she's perfect.

- And she looks just like you.

- Oh, she's so tiny.

Thank god you're both all right.

- Yeah, well I wouldn't wanna
go through that again.

- I know, I know, it was all my fault,

I should never have left you and her.

(Baby fretting) In a bit
of a hurry, were we?

(Bittersweet music)

(Footsteps)

(Intense music)

(Crowd chattering)

(Sirens wailing)

- What's going on here?

- Look, we've got an
escaped prisoner inside,

he's gone troppo making demands.

We need you people out
behind the barriers.

- Well, I know him, I
reckon I can help.

- So who are you?

- I'm a pilot, I brought him
here for trial last night.

I know all about him.
- All right, you can stay,

you two, back behind the barrier.

Come with me.

Hey, we need the negotiator
over here quick.

(Footsteps)

So you really think
you can talk to him?

- [Chris] Yeah, for sure.

- I'll take you.

We need a flakjacket for this guy.

Come with me.

(Gunshots)

(Crowd screaming)

- [Officer os] Get down and don't move,

stay right where you are!

- [Bank robber os] Where's the boss?

I'm not talking to anyone but him!

I told you!

- [Officer os] He's on his way,

look, this isn't the
way to solve anything!

- [Bank robber os] You don't
know what he's done to me!

- [Officer os] Why don't
you put down the gun

and we can talk about it?

- [Bank robber os] Why
don't you shut up?

He's the crook, not me!

Why don't you go after him?

- [Officer os] We got
a negotiator here,

if you tell him what the problem is,

we can sort this out...

- What are you doing here?

- What do you think I'm doing
here, I'm looking for you!

- I bought you some of them
apple things you said you like.

- Come on!

(Fast footsteps)

You stole my car.

- I didn't steal it, I borrowed it.

I told you, I wanted to
have a look at the bank.

I was gonna invite ya,
but you were asleep.

- Well why didn't you wake me up?

- I tried but you were out cold!

What was I supposed to do?

- Not just bolt like that.

- I was gonna come back.

- Bloody hell, wal, I thought
they were gonna shoot ya!

- What about that bloke in there?

What did his bank
manager do to him, eh?

- Thank you.

- Lauren, guess, what, we
had a baby girl last night.

A baby girl right here.

- What?

- A baby girl, it was so cool!

- What, a baby girl passenger?

- No, well, yeah, well, no,
the mum was a passenger

and we had a baby girl
from the radio room!

She was pregnant with jimbo!

- Jimbo was the father?

- No, jimbo was the doctor.

He delivered in the chieftain.

(Laughing)

- Jimbo had a baby in the chieftain.

How cute.

- Lauren, the sooner you're
out of here the better.

- Yeah, I'll be back in a tic.

Oh, Chris.

- Lauren, we gotta talk.

- What happened to you yesterday?

I was trying to contact you,
did you pick up that prisoner?

- Well, yes, I did.

And I didn't and then I did.

- What happened?

- Well I lost him.

- You lost him?

Wasn't he handcuffed?

- Yes, he was handcuffed,
it's a long story.

- What about the police contract?

- I said I found him again.

What do you care about the contract?

(Plane flying overhead)

- Chris had a violent prisoner on board

and he lost him.

- My god.

- No, it's okay, he found him.

Simon, do you mind if we put
this on hold for a few days?

(Soft music)

(Footsteps)

- Looks like it was a big night, dad.

- I could say the same for you.

Hey, Chris, how old were you

when you first had a kid?

- 28.

- Were you there for the,
with, the, you know,

Robbie? - Yeah.

- It's something, eh?

- Oh yeah, it's pretty amazing.

Take it easy.

(Footsteps)

- Where's your lawyer mate?

- I sent him away.

(Heavenly music)

(Electronic music tingling)
