Big Sky (1997–1999): Season 1, Episode 21 - Paradise - full transcript

Scotty and Lexie make an emergency landing in a remote area. Injured, they are taken in by a hippy community of women. They discover their presence in the seemingly idyllic society has upset the status quo.

(Thunder rumbling)

- On the same night

at different times

without them knowing?

How did you get away with it?

- Well, it was easy.

I just told each one that the
other one was my sister.

- Scotty, that's not very fair.

- Fair?

Come on, what about you
and those married men?

- Uh, one married man,

and I'm not seeing him anymore.

- Okay, well what about his wife?

You weren't very fair
to her now, were you?

- Well, no.

She found out he was
a complete bastard.

(Thunder crashing)

- There goes the royal doulton.

- Anyway, they're getting a divorce.

- Well of course they are,

because you interfered.

- Oh, that does it.

I'm putting down.

Melbourne flight services,

this is tango whisky Sierra.

- Tango whisky Sierra

this is Melbourne flight services.

What can we do for you?

- Uh, Melbourne, we've run into
an intense electrical storm

150 k east of Andrew's run.

It's too risky to go back.

I'll attempt a precautionary landing

and we'll wait out the storm.

- Understood.

Safe landing, tango whisky.

- Thanks.

Tango whisky Sierra.

All I'm saying is you had
two girls at the same time

you're going to get caught.

- I never.

It's my way with women, see?

It's a gift and a curse.

(Thunder crashing)

- Mayday, mayday.

This is tango whisky Sierra.

Melbourne, emergency landing...

(Thunder crashing)

Melbourne?

Scotty?

Hang on.

Scotty? Scotty?

Oh, you'll be all right.

You'll be okay.

(Knocking) (Gasps)

(Dreamy music)

(Gentle music)

(People chatting)

- Step over that.

What are you all just
standing around for?

We've got injured people.

Rachel, take him inside
and clean him up a bit.

He's injured.

It'll be all right.

Let me come and have a look at you.

- I need a phone.

- Impossible.

There isn't a phone
around here for miles.

- [Lily] That's the way we prefer it.

No phones.

How dead animal products.

- I really need to call in.

No one knows where we are.

- You know where you are, don't you?

That's right.

You're here, you're safe.

That's good enough.

- We don't mean to be any trouble.

- Oh, don't you worry about her,

she's just a little bit

titchy.

(Phone ringing)

- [Shay] Yes mom, I know.

- Still not convinced, Chris.

It just means more
overheads, more servicing.

- Well, we can take on more contracts

and we get a newish plane
for half the price.

I'll check it out, if it's
no good we won't get it.

- It's the money, it makes me nervous.

- Well Lauren, if
you're not going to go

tell me, cause I got to ring Robbie.

- No, no, no.

We'll go.

You've got to see the lawyers.

- Yeah mom.

Yeah but, yeah okay, I promise.

Look, I got to go.

It's really busy around here.

Yeah, okay.

Yeah. Bye mom.

- Have you heard from
Scotty and Lexie yet?

- Uh look Lauren, they
called Melbourne last night

and they said they put down somewhere.

Now go.

- Where they going?

- Well, you have the
schedule, dirt brain.

- I thought it was
Robbie's uncle who died,

so how come you ended up with the will?

- Because I'm a charming individual,

and because he couldn't
bear to see us split up.

- You're kidding.

- Oh, no.

Made it on uncle harv like that.

- [Jack] Hey, dad.

- Hey Jack,

what are you doing here?

- Thought a day off wouldn't hurt.

- Fair enough.

- [Lauren] Robbie, I'm sorry
to hear about your uncle.

- [Robbie] Thanks.

- [Lauren] So what is this place
you've inherited exactly?

- [Robbie] Just a bit of bush...

- Everything all right?

- Yeah, it's fine.

But I don't envy you, mate.

- What do you mean?

It's going to be a great day.

(Chuckles)

What, you, your ex-wife, and your boss

altogether in the same plane?

Something I'd rather avoid.

- Ah, it'll be all right.

- What do you think they're
going to be talking about?

- Tango whisky Sierra then notified us

that they were putting
down to wait out a storm.

- Thanks for letting us now.

Big sky base.

- Lexie and Scotty caught
in bad weather, huh?

- Well you heard it, jimbo.

That's what he said.

Haven't you got any work to do?

- No, I'm just waiting
for my next customer.

- Well jimbo, I've got a lot to do.

Ah?

Oh, I'm sorry jimbo.

It's my mother.

- Your mother?

- Yeah, my mother.

She wants to meet my boyfriend.

- Oh that grunge drummer
guy seems pretty cool.

- Jimbo, he has dreadlocks
and a nose ring.

So I told mom he's a lawyer.

- I'm sure there's lawyers with
nose rings and dreadlocks.

- Jimbo, she's going to freak.

- Yeah, Frank green.

I've got a flight to orange.

- Frank.

Jimbo James.

I'm your pilot.

- [Frank] Hi jimbo.

- How are you?

- Great, how are you?

- Shall we?

(Gentle music)

(Children laughing)

- Okay, all done.

Now take these.

No, no.

Don't touch them.

It's homeopathic.

Your skin affects them.

- [Scotty] What is it?

- Arnica.

It'll bring down the swelling.

- Could you?

- [Rachel] Oh, yeah.

- Thanks.

- [Rachel] Can I get you anything else?

- So how long have you been here?

- A while.

But it's good.

No congestion, no pollution.

- I couldn't handle it.

Still, whatever your
family's into, I guess.

- Well I mean, it's better than a lot

of other places I've lived.

- Feeling better?

- Thanks to Rachel.

- Good enough to check the plane?

- I don't think you should get up

for a few hours yet.

- She's the doctor.

- [Frank] Wow, you
pilots have got it made.

This is fantastic.

- Well haven't you ever
been flying before?

- No.

My boss usually gets all the perks,

but he came down with this
horrible ear infection

or something.

(Snorts) Talk about my lucky day!

- Echo whisky Victor,
this is big sky base.

- Is it that chicky-babe
from the office?

- Yeah, okay whisky
Victor, go ahead big sky.

- Jimbo, um...

I've been thinking,
and I was hoping that

you could do me a little favor.

- What kind of favor, big sky?

- Well...

I was wondering if you
could be my boyfriend.

(Frank snorts)

- Uh, why are you asking me that?

What, am I the last
choice, or something?

- No, no.

Jimbo, it's just that no
one else could pull it off

like you could.

- I'll take that as a compliment.

- Go for it, man.

She's hot.

- Jimbo, you really do
have to be my boyfriend.

- [Jimbo] And that's a big negatory.

- Man, it can't be that hard, jimbo.

All you have to do is pretend.

- Look, I don't think you've
thought this through properly.

- Come on, jimbo.

Are you saying that you
can't even pretend

to be interested in me?

- I'll think about it.

Echo whisky Victor.

- You pilots, man.

- Hey.

- [Lauren] He waits till we land,

and then he ups the price.

- [Chris] I thought it was a done deal.

- You didn't need to
start all the handling,

what was that?

- Lauren, we need the plane.

- We can't afford it.

I'm the one with the checkbook.

- And we can't afford to
keep turning down work

because we haven't got enough planes.

- [Lauren] I'm not going
to be ripped off.

Let's just go and check
out this land of yours.

- Do I have to be a lawyer?

- Well, of course you do.

I've already told mom
that's what you are.

- What's the difference between
a catfish and a lawyer?

- What?

- One is a scum-sucking parasite,

and the other one's a fish.

- Hey, jimbo I know.

We can say that you're working
on the royal commission

looking into police corruption!

Hey, here's a murder!

Jimbo, we can say that
you're a criminal lawyer!

- Shay.

It's not all homicide
and police corruption.

There's tedious paperwork,

painstaking preparation of argument,

cross referencing of evidence.

God.

The hours I spend.

- Does this mean yes?

- I'll put it to you.

Jurisprudence is ex post facto

an honorable profession.

(Squeals)

- That does mean yes!

- [Chris] Here we are!

- [Jack] All right, where's the creek?

- Well, it's down there.

- [Robbie] Jack, hold up!

- He's like a big kid.

- [Robbie] Guys!

Don't go too far!

- [Chris] Isn't this great?

Kids'll love it.

Weekends, holidays.

- [Robbie] Hang on, we haven't
even discussed it yet.

- [Chris] Maybe I should build a cabin.

- [Robbie] Chris, I was
hoping to sell it.

- You got to be kidding.

- The money would really help

with the mortgage.

Look, you can go camping anywhere.

- Robbie,

we've been coming here for years.

- Not recently.

- So we get separated, you want
to auction everything off?

This is a dream!

How many people get to
own something like this?

- Chris, I'm not saying that.

- I might go and wait in the car.

- What are you doing?

- Research.

- [Shay] Well stop it, it's spooky.

- We're going out.

I need to know all the
little things about you

that a boyfriend would.

I want my performance to
be authentic, you know.

I want us to be like in the moment.

- What can I help you with?

- Our relationship romantically

and sexually.

What it's like you know.

What you're like.

What you don't like.

- Jimbo, I'm not going
to sit around the table

with my mum and talk
about how many orgasms

I had last night.

- Oh, how many?

So our relationship seems
to be working pretty well,

sexually speaking that is.

- Jimbo.

- So what do you want from your men?

You know, strength,
dominance, sensitivity?

- Will you get out?

I'm busy.

- What about...

Dirty talk?

Role play?

(Scoffs)

Okay, don't help.

I'll just have to improvise, then.

You'll just get what you get.

(Children chatting)

- I hope you don't think it's
rude of me to ask, but...

Where are all the men?

- Men?

Now what use would we have for men?

- Uh, good question.

I've often wondered the same myself.

- It's a perfect setup, really.

We share the cooking, the childminding.

Life's so much easier.

Especially when there's
not a whole lot of men

to look after as well.

- Is this how you talk about
me when I'm not around?

- As if you didn't know, Luke.

This is Lexie.

She's come to us from the sky.

- Our plane got hit by lightning.

- Glad you're all right.

Are you on your own?

- Her friend's injured.

I've put him in there.

He's resting up.

I thought that'd be the
best place for him.

- Course it is.

- You're filthy.

Come here.

Go and clean yourself up.

And have some food

more tea?

- Oh, yeah.

Thanks.

(Dramatic music)

(Laughing)

- [Luke] Hello.

- Luke.

- How's your shoulder?

- It's fine, thanks.

- So you'll be going soon, then?

- Yeah, soon as my head's clear

I'll take a look at the plane.

- And when will that be?

- Listen, Rachel wasn't
doing anything, mate.

She was just talking to me.

- I didn't mention Rachel.

- [Rachel] We were just talking, Luke.

I shouldn't have brought him in here.

- Shh.

You've done nothing wrong.

- I've got chores to do.

- I knew they shouldn't have
brought him in here, Luke.

- Nothing's happened, all right?

Nothing's happening here.

- It's okay.

You're our guest.

Please don't abuse my
wife's hospitality.

- We haven't been here for years.

- Yeah, well that's because we've spent

too much time splitting up.

I want this for Jack and Chloe.

They're city kids.

- Look, I know what
you're saying, okay?

But there are plenty
of things I would like

to give them, too.

And they cost money.

I just think we should weigh it all up.

- And what about when
they are grown up?

They can bring their kids here.

Wouldn't it be nice to
pass it down to them

the same way it's been
passed down to us?

- Oh, okay.

I'm being selfish.

You'll come here with them,
but I probably won't.

I just think we should
think about it, okay?

- Hi.

Jimbo James.

Attorney at law.

Give us a call.

Hi.

Jimbo James, qc.

Ah, wank.

I'm a partner in a private firm,

James, James, James, James...

And associates.

We specialize in corporate law,

go where the bucks are, right?

- Hello, excuse me jimbo?

You are not going to spout that out

in front of my mother, are you?

- How long have you
been standing there?

- Long enough.

Jimbo, get a grip.

What are you thinking?

- Look, if it's worth doing,

it's worth doing well.

You think I should wear a waistcoat?

- [Scotty] Lex.

- You're up already.

- I want to go and check the plane.

- You okay?

- Rachel's husband came and he
went all territorial on me.

- Rachel's husband?

- Yeah, this older guy.

- Not Luke.

- I think that's what she said.

- Are you sure they're married?

- Yeah, I heard him say it.

Rachel is his wife.

- I saw him with jacinda,

and then a few seconds later
he was snogging someone else,

and now Rachel's his wife.

- Maybe it's some
hippie free love thing.

- Where did all the kids come from?

He's the only man I've seen.

- Well they can't all be his.

- Hey jimbo, where you going?

We don't meet mom for ages.

- Well, I got to prepare.

I got to pick up my suit,
I got to choose a tie.

- Oh, you're not going
to overdo it, are you?

- She'll be like putty in my hands.

I'll see you there.

- [Shay] Okay.

- Oh, where are we meeting?

- Safari bar, 2:00.

Don't be late.

- Okay.
- Okay.

- Safari bar?

That is filled with pilots!

They're all going to
know I'm not a lawyer!

- Oh, I'm sorry I've already told mom

that's where we're going to meet.

- So call her, change it!

- I can't!

- This is going to have
to be some performance.

- Thou hast dove's eyes, which
appear within thy locks.

Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep

that are even shorn.

(Chuckles)

All right, run along there you guys.

- So this is a religious community?

- No, no.

We're people who have
come together in love

and choose to live a simple life.

- And the other men are
out working, or...

- There are no other men.

- Oh, I see.

- Society doesn't approve,

and it's against the law,

but does that make it wrong?

- No, no I guess not.

- I realize it's hard for
others to understand.

- I hope we haven't done
anything to offend you.

Scotty mentioned that he'd
upset you a little, and...

- Well, it's hard even to imagine
how it would have looked,

lying in a bed with another man's wife.

- I'm really sorry.

We didn't know what the setup was.

- I'm not upset.

Would you be?

- I don't have lots of husbands,

so I can't really tell.

(Laughing)

- Yo, Chris.

- Lauren, where are you going?

- I'm not talking to
him, what's the use?

- Wait a second, he might
have changed his mind.

- We had a deal.

You can't just up and go.

- [Lauren] The agreed
price, or nothing.

- [Man] It's two years old.

It's still a bargain.

- Let's go.

- [Chris] What about a week's trial?

- [Lauren] Chris!

- Lauren, it's not going
to cost you anything.

We check it out, Ronnie
gives it a good going over,

we do some flight tests,

and then if you're not
satisfied, you can hand it back,

no money changes hands.

But, if you are, we can
discuss a fair price.

- Sounds good to me.

Let's go into the office
and talk about it.

- All right.

(People chatting) (Upbeat music)

- Mrs. mcwilliam?

- Yes.

Allan?

- Yeah, Allan.

For you.

- Oh, thank you.

They're lovely.

Where's that girl of mine?

- Oh, I'm sure she's just
been held up at work.

So, uh...

How have you enjoyed
your stay in Sydney?

- I'm having a great time.

So, tell me a little
bit about yourself.

How did you two meet?

- I'm sure Shay's told
you a thousand times.

- No, Shay doesn't tell me anything.

- Well, the truth is...

I met her at work.

Her firm called me in under
contractual matters.

- [Pam] Big sky?

- Yeah, big sky.

Funny little outfit.

- True.

I'm not too sure about these people

she's working with.

The owner sounds nice,
but these pilots...

I think she's having
some problems with them.

- Ghastly men.

- Oh no, are they really?

- Shockers.

I try to keep a bit of an eye on her

but your pilot's not your
sort of normal human being.

A pilot's more a hormone storm.

Frankly sometimes, you
know, I wonder...

- [Shay] Hi, mom!

- Darling!

- [Shay] Hi, Allan.

(Giggles)

Allan, please.

- Good to see you, darling.

- Hi mom.

Sorry I'm late.

- Darling, that's okay.

That's okay, darling.

You look wonderful.

- Thanks.

- Allan's been telling me all
about these dreadful men

at big sky.

- Oh, really?

Oh, what's he been saying?

- They sound a bit of a worry.

- Oh, only one of them, mum.

- Well I'll take that one back

if you're okay to take the chieftain.

- Sure.

- Dad, can I come with you?

- Sure.

You and mom can come with
me in the new plane.

- Well, what about Lauren?

She can't go back on her own.

I'll go with you.

Keep you company.

If that's okay.

- Yeah, sure.

If you don't have a problem.

I mean, I don't mind.

- No, no, no.

I don't have a problem.

- Good.

- Have you decided anything
about this block of land?

- No, we'll just put that off

like everything else we disagree on.

Chris is so sentimental
about the place.

- [Lauren] Yeah, I never thought of him

as such a die-hard romantic.

- He always has been.

All I can remember are the
mossies and the spiders

and being rained on.

- Sleeping under the stars,
sitting around the campfire,

toasting marshmallows.

- Building tree houses.

Can we do it, dad?

- Yeah, of course we can.

We can do whatever we like.

It's ours now, Jack.

- [Jack] Mom's not going
to get rid of it, is she?

- No, no, no.

She won't.

She loves the place.

She's just forgotten how much.

- I can't see their plane anymore.

- Tell you what,

why don't I see how they're going?

Charlie tango delta,

this is whisky Victor bravo.

- Charlie tango delta, what's up Chris?

- [Chris] Nothing, I just thought
I'd see how you're going.

This little baby flies like a beauty.

- [Lauren] Glad to hear it.

- So you both getting on well, then?

- Yeah, we're getting
on just fine, why?

- Oh, no reason.

No reason at all.

Whisky Victor bravo.

- [Lauren] What on earth
was that all about?

- [Robbie] He's worried.

- [Lauren] About what?

- [Robbie] About what he assumes
we must be talking about.

(Laughing)

- You mean he's married to them all?

- Believe it or not.

And they all seem perfectly
happy with the setup, too.

- All those wives, eh?

And you thought me
having two girlfriends

was a problem.

- Right, do you want me
to give it a go now?

- Yup.

Start her up.

(Crackling)

- What's the problem?

- It's the wiring.

It's completely burned out.

- Oh, Scotty, company.

- Rachel, hi.

What are you doing here?

- [Rachel] I want to come with you.

- Oh, I didn't mean to get
you in trouble before.

- No, it's not what happened,

it's just, I've had enough.

It's not how I thought it'd be.

- Sure, yeah, you can come with us

but I'm going to have to go back.

- You've got to go back?

- Yeah, I've got to get some wiring

from that motorbike in the shed.

Got to get this plane going.

- [Luke] Where have you been?

- Been at the plane.

- [Luke] Wasn't talking to you.

- When they go...

I'm going with them.

- We don't mind taking her.

- I'm sure you would.

- This is got nothing to do with us.

- Rachel,

this is where you belong.

You made a commitment, a
decision to be a family.

- [Rachel] You're not my family.

- [Luke] Of course we are.

- No, you never wanted me here.

- That's not true.

We care about you very much.

- Don't go, rache.

- She wants to, let her.

- [Rachel] You see?

- Rachel, when you came here
you were lost and unhappy.

We've given you love...

- It's not how I thought it would be.

I don't like sharing everything.

And I don't like sharing you.

- Who's going to come
mushrooming with me?

- Who's going to sing to us at night?

- I'm sorry, I just want to go home.

- Just let her go!

- Yeah, you guys aren't
listening to her.

- This has nothing to do with you.

- You know, it's funny.

You go through all the agony
of deciding to separate,

you finally work out how
you can be friends,

and along comes a cranky
uncle, drops a bombshell,

and it's back to arguing again.

- Hey, that's what family's good for.

Giving you grief.

You know, my father
gambles, loses everything,

and here I am running big sky.

- Lauren.

- What's wrong.

- Lauren, just don't move.

- Oh my god.

- [Robbie] Don't move.

- Oh my god.

- Just stay still, okay?

- Okay.

- Oh my god.

Just stay still, all right?

- I tell you, half the judges up there

are naked under those robes.

It is common knowledge.

(Laughing)

- That's outrageous.

Another drink, Allan?

- No thanks, Pam.

I've got to keep a clear
head for court tomorrow.

- Jimbo, hi.

How are you?

How's the propellor world?

- Good day, Frank.

Excuse me.

- That boy called Allan jimbo.

- Oh yeah, that's his nickname, mom.

It's Allan James Elliot.

It's from his middle name.

- Elliot?

I thought his surname was napien.

- Well you said this was where
the pilots all hang out.

I thought it'd be cool to
come down and check it out.

So are you with the
chick or what, mate?

Excellent, excellent.

I told you you should
go for it, didn't I?

- Allan James Elliot napien.

Something to do with family names,

or something like that.

- Ah, I see.

He's not at all what I expected.

- Oh really?

What'd you expect?

- Come on, Shay.

I've never seen you go near
anyone like that before.

You always go for those
awful scrunchies.

- Grungies, mom.

And I'm all over that now.

- [Pam] Well I'm glad to hear it.

- Sad case, really.

Drug abuse at an early age.

I mean, he's clean now,

but damaged for life.

(Clicking tongue)

- It's a shame.

(Dramatic music)

- Just stay completely calm and still.

- Calm, are you kidding?

- Look, if we don't bother
it, it won't bother us.

- We can't land without bothering it.

- Maybe it'll move.

- What if it doesn't?

Whisky Victor bravo, this
is Charlie tango delta.

Chris, we've run into a
little bit of a problem.

- Charlie tango delta, what's up?

- Uh, we've got a visitor.

A snake.

And it's wrapped around the throttle.

- There's a snake on the plane?

- They'll be all right, mate.

Whatever you do, don't move.

- I'm keeping as still as I can,

but I don't know how long
I can keep this up for.

- Well, you're going
to have to work out

some way to get rid of it.

What's it look like?

- Um, a snake.

A big one.

- [Chris] I mean what color is it?

- Brown.

I'd say brown-ish?

- [Chris] What color's its stomach?

- [Lauren] I don't know, I can't see.

- Well, can Robbie see anything?

- Chris, I'm too scared to move.

(Gasping)

- Oh my god, it's moving, it's moving.

- Lauren, tell mom not
to throw the snake out.

I want to keep it.

- Well, since we don't know
if it's poisonous or not

I think the safest thing
to do is kill it.

- [Lauren] How? What with?

- Try the torch in your flight bag.

- No, I can't get to it.

It's right next to the snake.

- Well, let's hope Ronnie
hasn't cleaned out the plane

too well, and there's
something around the back

you can use.

- Yeah, okay we'll check.

Charlie tango delta.

- [Chris] whisky Victor bravo.

- Never thought I'd be praying
for a sloppy mechanic,

but I am now.

- Okay, I'll see what I can find.

- All she's done ever
since she's got here

is disrupt everything.

- Yeah, well you've made
it harder than anyone.

You know, I tried to fit in, Lily.

- She's right, Lily.

You've never given her a chance.

You've always made things
difficult for her.

- You're taking her side?

- It's not a question of sides,

it's about treating
your sisters equally.

- This whole setup is so weird.

We got to get out of here.

- Don't have to convince me.

- Do not fight!

We never fight!

- I knew this would
happen when you arrived!

You're too young - Lily! Lily!

(Shouting)

- [Jacinda] Lily!

- [Luke] Rachel!

- Lily!

- Rachel!

She needs to go to a hospital.

- We can take care of her here.

- No you can't, she's
seriously injured!

- She stays with her family.

- How do you know what's
wrong with her, mate?

This could be something really bad.

- We have treatments here.

We can cure her.

- Will she be all right?

I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to happen.

- Maybe you should have
thought about that before.

- All right, Skye.

Rachel will be fine.

- We think she's getting worse

there's a hell of a lot
of bruising coming up

on her face.

- She's probably too sick to move.

If you just let me get to the plane,

I can fix it, maybe I can
call someone for help.

- I told you once before,

do I have to tell you again?

- She's badly hurt.

- I will look after my wife.

- What is with you mate?

Look, are you just stupid, is that it?

- He's not responsible.

Leave him alone.

- Well then who is, Lily?

Should we start pointing fingers?

Because I know where I'm pointing mine.

- [Jacinda] Skye, it happened.

There's no point in blaming anyone.

- And you, you side
with them against Luke.

You're his wife, jacinda.

Where is your respect?

- It's got nothing to do with respect.

It's got to do with common sense.

- You're the comforter, do something!

- I know my limits!

- Stop it!

We knew a day like this would come.

Why are we letting it ruin everything?

- It's not us!

It's Rachel! It's them!

- Would you just stop
blaming us for everything?

- This is all I can find.

- What are you going to
do with that, tuck it in?

- I'm going to grab it.

- Oh, grab's good. Yeah.

- Well, I'm not going
to kill it, Lauren.

It hasn't done anything wrong.

- I know but are you sure?

- No, but it's the only option.

Whatever we do, it is
going to get angry.

- [Chris] Charlie tango delta,

this is whisky Victor bravo.

- Charlie tango delta, go ahead, Chris.

- You got to work out
some way to kill it.

- Apparently we're going
to try to grab it somehow.

- It could be poisonous.

- [Lauren] What else can we do?

- I don't think grabbing
it is such a wise move.

- It's the best we can come up with.

- [Chris] Well, hit it with something.

What about a shoe?

- It's practically wearing my shoes.

- And if it bites me, it is
going to end up as shoes.

(Laughing)

- [Lauren] What are we going to do?

We're at 8000 feet.

(Hissing) (Screaming)

- It's gone, where has it gone?

- Who cares.

Just land, please.

- All right.

(Chuckles)

- Allan's not a lawyer, is he?

- Mom.

- Well tell me the truth.

He's charming, but he's no lawyer.

I'm not stupid, Shay.

- Okay, no he's not a lawyer.

- [Pam] So what does he do?

- He's an accountant.

- He's a pilot, isn't he?

You've got some funny ideas, Shay.

Why the big act?

I think he's gorgeous.

- Gorgeous?

No, no mom.

That's jimbo, I'm not seeing him.

- Shh, here he comes.

Don't let on I know.

- Are you serious?

- It's a good performance.

I want to see where it ends up.

- [Shay] Mom.

- Darling.

Happy?

- Yeah.

- Love.

Ah, it's a rocky road.

- Can't believe we're doing this.

Okay, where is it?

- [Lauren] Oh, there it is!

There it is!

(Laughing)

Maybe we can herd it towards the door.

- Okay, just...

- [Lauren] Take this, grab...

- [Robbie] Ready?

- [Lauren] Grab that bit.

- [Robbie] Oh my god, this is scary.

We shouldn't do this.

- Oh my god, I'm going to be sick.

- Ready?

- [Lauren] Okay, I'm coming.

(Laughing)

- [Lauren] Grab that thing!

(Both shouting)

(Screams)

- Oh god!

Sorry, sorry.

- [Lauren] Where is it?

- It looked at me.

Sorry.

- There it is.

You've got to grab it.

Throw the thing on it!

Oh, grab that bit! Grab that bit!

Where is it?

Oh my god, throw it out.

- [Robbie] Out, out!

- Chuck it out!
- Out!

(Chuckling)

- Where is it?

It's not in here, is it?

- There it is.

- Okay.

Okay back this way.

He's looking at us.

(Laughing)

Oh, it's coming towards us.

- Oh, here comes the cavalry.

(Laughing)

- [Scotty] Lex.

- Where have you been?

- I got the wiring.

Well, he wasn't budging.

- So you thought you'd steal it?

The bike's our only transport.

We need it.

- We need it to leave.

To get Rachel to help.

- The machine's no good
to us if it doesn't work.

- [Skye] Stop it, Luke.

- He's only looking out after Rachel.

That's more than you're doing.

- She doesn't need to go anyway.

- You just can't let go, can you?

Rachel was right.

What's happening to you?

You've changed.

- No.

It's you who have changed, jacinda.

- Scotty and Lexie are
going to take her

to a hospital, and you're not
going to stand in their way.

- Are you going to
take her away from me?

- She's taking herself away.

You're not her keeper.

You're not anyone's keeper.

We're all free to go whenever we want.

Isn't that what you've always said?

That here we're free spirits,

we don't belong to anyone.

That includes you, Luke.

Just go.

- We can't let them destroy everything

and just leave, Luke.

- It's not them that's
destroying it, Lily.

- It is.

- Well, if it isn't my two
favorite snake charmers.

You okay?

- Yeah, of course we are.

- [Jack] Where is it, mom?

Where's the snake?

- Well, it's long gone, thankfully.

- Robbie was absolutely brilliant.

Thank goodness you were here.

- No, it was a joint effort.

We are a good team.

(Laughing)

We are a good team.

- Well, I'm glad to hear it.

- See ya.

I think she's great.

- Okay, try that.

- Clear prop.

(Clicking)

(Engine revving)

(Ominous music)

(Scotty groans)

You sure this is going to work?

- Yeah, well it has to, doesn't it?

Hang on.

All right.

Try that, then.

(Engine turning over)

- Scotty!

- Lily.

Enough.

- You should have sent them away, Luke.

- Are you all right?

- Yeah, I'm okay.

- Then go.

Take Rachel where she needs to go.

- Luke...

We're going with them.

- [Luke] Not you too, jacinda.

Not the children.

- [Jacinda] I want them
to have a proper life.

- You can't break up the family.

You can't just take the children.

They need their father,
they need all of you.

- It isn't working anymore.

I'm going.

- Ah, there you go.

When in doubt, trust the jimbo-meister.

- Yeah, jimbo you're great.

If it wasn't for me we would
have got away with it.

- What, got away with it?

What, she knew?

No way.

- Yeah, jimbo she knew.

She knew early on, and she
didn't want to let you know

because she thought you were so cute.

- Cute?

She thought I was cute?

I'm being the head of the supreme court

and she thinks I'm cute?

Did she know when I
was talking all about

the criminal mind?

- That was her favorite bit.

- I feel like an idiot.

- Oh, jimbo forget it.

Look, we don't have to
do it again anyway.

Because I told her that I'd dump you.

- What, we're over?

- Jimbo, we were never on.

Oh don't take it so hard!

Maybe we can go out
again, or something.

- No, no.

Look, I think if we're over,

I think it's best that we just move on.

- Jimbo it was only make believe...

- Don't touch me!

- Didn't pick up any more critters

on the way back, all right?

- Uh-huh.

Listen, about the land,
I've been thinking.

- Yeah, so have I.

That's okay, he was your uncle.

- You've changed your mind?

- No, I love the place.

- Yeah, and so would the kids.

I think you're right.

We should keep it.

- Yeah?

- You got time for coffee?

- Love one.

- Great.

- They've come back
the best of friends.

- [Chris] Yeah, ever since
the snake turned up.

- Snake?

Well I suppose that's what
caused all the problems

in the first place, isn't it?

(Dreamy music)
