in her own right.

she was Craig's secret protegee.

but because of the subject,
some believe she's the one
that painted the Solo Mare.

it was Edith Jay's all along.
And he also knew that,
unlike an Augustus Craig original,
a painting of a horse's backside
by a stable girl
would be worthless in comparison.
