Being Human (2008–2013): Season 1, Episode 0 - Pilot - full transcript

George Sands, a young porter at a Bristol hospital, has an unenviable secret. Some years ago he was attacked by a pack of werewolves and is now one himself. His friend and co-worker John Mitchell, whilst he looks very young, is a centuries old vampire, though he is trying to resist his blood lust, placing him at odds with the vampire leader Herrick. The pair rent a house and are surprised to find a third occupant whom only they can see - Annie, a young woman who died after falling downstairs in the house and is now a ghost.

I've got this friend.

He says the human condition,

the human nature,

being human,

is to be cold and alone,

like someone lost in the woods.

It's safe to say
he's a "glass is half empty" kind of guy.

And I see nature differently.

I see the ancient machinery
of the world,

elegant and ferocious,
neither good nor bad.

It's full of beautiful things,

unspeakable things.

The trick...
is to keep them hidden...

... till the right
moment.

You know...
We were talking about you.

Me and two of the girls from radiology.
You intrigue us.

You don't use lines.

You talk about ancient machinery.

You do conjuring tricks.

Your eyes are...
sad... even when you laugh.

And when you look at me, it's...

... it's heavy.

It's old.

Neeru says...

I'm gonna shut up now.

What?

- What does she say?
- No.

- She thinks you're dangerous.
- She said that?

She used that word?

I thought it was odd, too.

Are you dangerous, Mitchell?

- Look, I should go.
- Oh, sorry.

Hello?

Oh, hi.

No, just a headache.

Concentrate.

I'm sorry.

I think I'm gonna go to bed.

Stag party.

Nice blouse.

Where did you leave your clothes?

I don't know.

I don't know where we are.

I had to get the operator to tell me
where I was calling from.

Thank you.

You OK?

You look weird.

And this from a man in culottes.

- You've got blood on your face.
- It's OK.

It's only a deer's.

Come on, Lassie.

We'll swing by your hostel,
get you some clothes.

Does it still hurt?

Curses are meant to hurt.

Yeah, I recognised her an' all.

Worked in A&E.

Of course, they're all in pieces.

Friend of yours?

No.

- Kind of.
- Flatmate found her.

Heart attack, the coroner says.

Don't seem right, does it?

Pretty thing like that.

Whole life ahead of her,

and Richard Littlejohn
still walking around.

Hiya.

We're here for the pick-up.

Lauren Drake.

This her?

I'll get the papers.

- All right, Mitchell?
- Seth...

When I got the call,
I was a little surprised.

I said to Edgar,
"When was the last time Mitchell recruited?"

But, mate...

These incisions,
they're like pin pricks.

Was this deliberate?

They're in a cluster of freckles or something,
I can hardly see them.

Seriously, I'm impressed.

- What did the coroner say?
- Heart attack.

He's a good boy!

Herrick's back.

- Asked me to express his thanks.
- Herrick?

Since when was it
up to him to say thanks?

Just thought he should, that's all.

It's good to have you back, Mitchell.

It's been a long time
since you brought someone to the party.

People were beginning to talk.

When she drank...

What?

When she drank from me...

It might have been too late.

She was still alive, wasn't she?

Yeah.

Just, I don't know...
It might not have worked.

So this is a disposal job now,
is that what you're saying?

I'm saying I don't know.

This is an afterthought then, yeah?

Hey, Mitchell?

Mitchell?
How's your pet?

Are you sure it was
your ex-girlfriend?

The name, the epilepsy...

Who else could it be?

- Besides, I just know it's her.
- So what are you gonna do?

Change my shifts, I guess.

It's only for a couple of days.
I mean, I can't see her.

- Why not?
- She thinks I'm dead.

Well, she thinks...

I don't know what she thinks,
I haven't seen her for two years.

- You've got to talk to her.
- She'll want to know why I disappeared.

- There's a pretty good chance that'll come up.
- So what do I say?

This had to happen sooner or later.

- Well, not this, but something like this.
- What do you mean?

You can't keep hiding, George.

- It's only for a couple of days.
- I don't just mean from her.

Did you hear about Lauren in A&E?

Heart attack? Can you believe it?

- Did you know her?
- A little.

She was an only child,
did you know that?

Her parents must be...
I can't imagine.

So I was thinking maybe we could get
somewhere to live.

What, together?

Are you serious?

I might go on the wagon for a bit.

You mean no blood?
Can you do that?

I can try,
and this would help.

The more structure I've got,
the more routine and...

normality,

- the easier it is.
- Why now?

I don't know.

When in Rome, stop...
killing the other Romans.

You talk about normality
like it's some kind of...

Like it's fair.

- The same rules do not apply to us.
- What's the worst that could happen?

I could lose it all again.

This is the curse, George.

Not what happens to you
every full moon. This.

George?

George!

- Julia.
- Jesus Chr...

- George!
- Sorry, I didn't want to wake you.

I thought...

- We thought you'd died.
- I know. I'm sorry.

What happened to you?

I should go.

- Go? You can't go.
- This was a bad idea.

I thought you'd died.

We grieved for you
and now you turn up here.

What are you, a doctor or something?

I'm a porter.

A porter?

Christ, George.

You've got an IQ of a 156
and you're a bloody hospital porter?

Your mum would go mental.

I...

I caught something.

Like a disease?

Are you seeing anyone?

I'm engaged.

How could you just leave us all,
George?

How could you leave me?

We wouldn't...

If it hadn't been this,
it would have been something.

- What do you mean?
- People like you...

don't stay with people like me.

I was just the fill-in guy.

I'm the guy you look back on
and say,

"Oh, he was sweet."

If it hadn't been this,
it would have been something.

But I adored you.

You caught something, is it?

Christ, I don't know what to think.

- What is it?
- It's something...

old.

Are you staying here?
Is this where you are now?

Only I've got to come back
in a few weeks.

I've got this outpatient thing,
so I've got to come back.

So if you were still here...

... then maybe I'd see you.

- I'd like that.
- I'd like that too.

I said some stuff about you

to Lauren.

Just stupid stuff.

But it feels important now
to say I'm sorry.

You said I was dangerous.

Though she was crap
at keeping secrets.

It was out of order.

I don't know you.

So...

A house or a flat?

Whatever we can afford.

And if we need to move on again?

We move on.

We share the cleaning.

We can draw up a rota.

I'll buy highlighter pens
and everything.

What about guests?

We can't ask them to clean.

No...

What if one of us...

wants to have a guest?

In your last house you clearly had
a level of security I am not used to.

If you want a guest,
you have a guest.

Wait a sec. Are you...
talking about lady-shaped guests?

No.

I don't know.

George...

Don't make me
come over there.

Oh my God,
you've talked to her, haven't you?

What did she say?

How is she?

She's beautiful.

You hound!

OK.

I'll get onto it.

But I am not having you
turn my nice house into the Playboy Mansion.

And we want a proper sofa
so we can sit in front of the TV with a beer and a pizza.

- What about a futon?
- I hate futons.

People get spinal injuries from futons.
If it's a futon, I am walking out.

It was owned by a sculptor, it was his studio.
Then a young couple bought it.

The plan was to refurbish, but...

the girl... died

before they could get much done,

hence it's individual decor.

Well, that's one way of putting it.

I don't know. See, my friend,
he's very picky.

He took a lot of convincing
to agree to this.

You can see the hospital
from the window!

And it's a dinky little kitchen,
we could fit a table in there, maybe.

Otherwise, if we've people over
we can just sit in here.

And the little garden is just...

gorgeous.

We could grow vegetables.

Like I said,
he's a very difficult customer.

Why has it been on the market so long?
The rent's pretty reasonable.

The back of the house
doesn't get much sunlight.

I'm not mad about sunlight.

And, as you can see,
the house presents certain challenges.

Yeah, but the university's only
ten minutes away.

You must be able to get
some students in.

OK, look.

There have been a few people
but it hasn't worked out.

Personally, I don't think
they thought it through but, legally,

I'm obliged to tell you
that they thought it was...

- Creepy.
- Creepy?

They said they could detect something.
I mean, it's ridiculous, obviously.

I mean,
can you detect anything creepy?

We're probably not
the best people to ask.

I'm loving the kitchen,
it's like a catalogue.

Look!

Your sofa!

He has this thing
about me and him on a sofa.

It's fine,
we've catered for people in your...

- situation before.
- I doubt that.

No, really. We found a lovely flat
for two ladies in Cottham.

I wasn't sure at first but then one
of them said she was in the TA and...

- you do the math.
- What are you laughing at?

Don't get me wrong,
they were very nice, it's just...

I don't understand all that.

I'm like you.
I like dick too much.

You're just like him.
I swear, it's relentless.

Look, hang on, we're not...
We're not gay.

He hasn't told his parents yet.

I had a girlfriend.

But he realised
he was living a lie.

So, what's it gonna be, fellas?
Shall I ring the landlord?

- What the hell.
- Nice one.

I'll call from the car.

How could she think
we were a couple?

I am way out of your league.

We're actually going to do this.

- Can't believe it.
- So you know,

people have said they think
it's creepy here.

Bloody will be now!

Let me carry you over the threshold.

- What?
- Come on.

It's a big day.

Don't be ridiculous!

It'd mean a lot to me, George.

So, I was thinking maybe
we could get a cage or something.

- A cage?
- Yeah. Pop it in your room.

We'd need some thick curtains

- to dull the sound, plus...
- No!

I'm not changing in the house.

The house is separate,
the house isn't about that.

I'm not letting that invade here.

So, what you gonna do?

I haven't got a clue.

Shit!

Shit!

It's still wet.

- You should go and see what that is.
- Why am I going?

You'd be better in a fight.
You're... stocky.

I'm not stocky.

Look at you, you're like...

You know in a cartoon
when a safe falls on someone?

Oh, f...
This is ridiculous.

What could be scarier
than one of us?

A bigger one of us?

Who the hell are you?

- Wha'?
- Who the hell are you?

Shit, can you see me?

Of course...

Who are you?

- George...
- You can see me?

Can you see me do that?

- What are you talking about?
- George.

You can hear me too,
I don't believe this.

You don't believe it?
Mitchell, call the police.

Did you write that on our wall?

- That had better come off!
- George, stop.

This is incredible!

- Mitchell, call the police!
- No. It's OK.

It's most certainly not.
We paid a deposit.

George, shut up!

She's a ghost.

Your point being?

This was our first place together.

He rang the radio, asked me
to marry him on air, I said yes,

and they played Alison Moyet.

We'd only been here two weeks,
we were so excited.

And then...

Anyway, after I...

died...

my family arrived and the emotion,
the intensity of it,

you know when you open an oven
and the blast of heat slams into you?

It was like that.
I'd follow them from room to room

shouting at them,

but no one could hear me,
I just wanted them all to leave.

I didn't get what was happening.
Just wanted them to go so I could think.

Then they did leave...

and I was all alone.

My fiance...

he's got a brother in Saudi,
I think that's where he's gone.

But he must have just started
letting the place out

because suddenly
these people moved in.

You can still see it.
The whole wall will have to be painted.

- You've to let it run for a while.
- I'm aware of that, thank you.

Just saying.

What happened then?
When the people moved in.

I just wanted the place to myself
a little longer, so I sort of...

moved some stuff.

That was you, moving our things?

Nailing up that chicken,
rearranging my books?

Oh, no actually,
that last one was me.

Come on, George,
they were alphabetised.

It's like living with Rain Man.

- Do you go out at all?
- Not really.

You haven't been out
in a year?

I've been in the garden, I...

It's been so long now
I just don't know what would happen.

What do you do all day?

I keep the place tidy,

I read...

I've got a little
radio with headphones.

And have you tried to...
complete your journey?

- You're assuming I can?
- Well, have you tried?

- Why are you here?
- I told you, I liked it here.

I mean, generally,
why are you here?

I don't know.

OK. Well, this has been great.

My first ghost.

Knockout!
But it's getting late...

You don't have to keep going on
about me being a ghost. It's rude.

If someone's fat, you'd go,
"God, you're fat?'"

Maybe I'm a bit tetchy cos you tried
to scare me out of my house.

It was my house
before it was yours!

That's not an argument, OK?

It's not like
bagsy-ing the front seat of a car.

I'm not your first ghost,
though, am I?

No. You're not.

I know what you are.

And you.

I've been listening to you.

I don't mind.

I'm not prejudiced.

It's why we can see her.

You could say we're all from
different parts of the same country.

- But normal people can't see me.
- We are perfectly normal, thank you.

By normal I meant, doesn't turn into
The Littlest Hobo once a month.

How did you die, Annie?

Quickly.

Where will you go?

There's nowhere.

There's nowhere.

We should let her stay.

- What?
- Just for a while.

- This was her house once.
- Yes, but then she died.

Some might say
that was a cue to move on.

When I've seen ghosts before
they've been much more...

see-through,
but to us she's completely solid.

It's the house that's keeping her
like this, she has a bond with it.

- If we kick her out now...
- What, it might kill her?

Trust me, George,
there are worse things than death.

What is she doing here, anyway?

It'll be her death.

Something about the circumstances
of her death that's...

wrong,

that's unresolved.

What do you mean?

Well, it's safe to assume
she didn't die of old age.

Even so,
why does she get to go back?

Why she lives in a house
she was happy in?

- You're getting your second chance.
- That's...

Oh, can't we just have something,

one thing in our lives
that isn't about monsters?

She gets the box room.

Shall I put the kettle on?

Is she gonna keep doing that?

All right, Mitchell?

Had that young Doctor Samji in here
earlier on.

Exhausted, he was.

Made him a brew
and he fell asleep in that chair.

I said to him,
"It's only gonna get worse, mate,

"once they close St Jude's,

"they'll have to start using
the old wards downstairs."

- The what?
- There's a rabbit warren down in it.

All locked up now, mind.

At first I thought they were used to put
all the mentallers and kids with big heads there, you know?

But there's some sort of isolation room,

so now I'm thinking
it was for typhoid patients, see?

Could you show it to me?

It's pretty near soundproof, not that
anyone ever comes this far down.

The inside handle is rusted off
so once you're in,

the door can only be opened
from the outside.

You won't be able to escape,
you'll be safe.

- I'll be safe?
- Then,

I let you out in the morning
when you're your old

happy-go-lucky grateful self again.

Just leave me alone.

- Julia?
- Please, go back inside.

You heard her.
Walk away, little man.

He's just someone who works
at the hospital.

She gives you the eye, too?
What she tells you?

- Peter, please...
- Take a ticket and sit down.

Don't think you're anything special.
She'll give it to anyone.

The doctor, the cab driver.

- She thinks I don't notice.
- You should calm down.

You should piss off.
You've been told twice.

I'm afraid I can't do that.

George, please.

George...

Did you say George?

I've seen photos of you.

You're the one that disappeared.

Did you follow her here?

Do you think you can take her back?

- What did she tell you?
- She didn't know I was here.

You're wasting your time.
She doesn't

- talk about you any more.
- I'm sure you saw to that.

I'm glad she's gonna see this.

- You're lucky this isn't tomorrow.
- What happens then?

Monsters come out.

What are you doing?

- The worst thing...
- George, leave him alone!

The very worst thing...

is that it feels so good.

A week before,

I need glasses to watch the news.

Mitchell has to open jars for me.

Then suddenly
everything starts to work.

All my senses expand and there's
this part of me that can't wait.

That's turned on and hungry.

- Get off him, get off him.
- The neck is amazing, isn't it?

This tangle of arteries
and muscle and sinew.

Do you know there are two jugular veins,
an internal one and an external one?

I've met people
who have tasted them.

And they said
the windpipe came away

with a sigh of air from the lungs
that were still warm.

And as they described it,
they had this

look...
like everything they do in between is

just sleepwalking,
and it's only for those few moments

that they are totally...
and truly alive.

There's part of me
that would give anything

to feel what they did,

to taste what they taste...

And that's...

the worst thing.

Touch her again...

- I will kill you.
- What...

What's happened to you?

Stay away from me.

George...

George!

Where are you going?

Out. Just out.

- You want to come with me?
- I...

- What are all these?
- They're Annie's.

She can't drink them,
it just sort of

spills onto the floor.

I was thinking...

we could try the pub
at the end of the street.

- So why does she make them?
- She likes the routine of it.

There's teas, coffees,

a couple of hot chocolates.

Pop one in the micro,
it's like Russian roulette.

So she can make the tea,
she can lift the mug

and the kettle but she can't drink it.

It's such a waste.

Well, don't discourage her.

With any luck
she'll start cooking soon, too.

Or we could go into town if you fancy.
Come on, it's my treat.

Hi, George.

Hello.

Cup of tea? I'm making one.

No, I'm fine, thanks.

I'm off, then.

- You coming, George?
- Knackered.

Annie,

what about you?

You've got to do it sooner or later.

Come on,
keep me on the straight and narrow.

I don't know if I'm ready yet.

When you died...

what did you see?

- What do you mean?
- Sometimes this...

situation, it becomes unbearable,

and so to go through it all
and not think that there's something...

Because...
this can't be it.

I don't know what I'd do
if I thought this was it.

I can't...

I can't really answer that,
I didn't see much.

I got a...
sense of something.

It was bright and warm and...

But...

I couldn't reach it.

I think there were others there.

It's hard to...

It's actually just as you'd imagine.
It's like in films, a good place.

Are you a little young
to be somewhere like this?

You wanna see my ID?

I just meant
you're not like

- the usual clientele.
- Which is?

People like me.

Debris.

I'm older than I look.

I've got this friend.

He says any happiness we have
is borrowed.

He calls us the unblessed.

He sounds an absolute scream.

I see what he means now.

You see, I thought having a house,
watching TV,

it would make us like everybody else,
but it doesn't, because...

nature...

Because nature will always win.

- What can I get you?
- I don't want another drink.

- Come on.
- I mean, I don't need one.

You can come home with me,

if that's what you want.

We could just...

... talk.
It's up to you.

- But you don't know me.
- What's to know?

... single, but I stopped doing this
a long time ago.

- Are you dangerous?
- Dangerous?

What made you say that?

I was joking.

- Come on.
- But why did you use that word?

You should go home.

Hiya.

- Have you been sitting there long?
- Define long.

An hour?

Then, yeah.

- What time is it?
- Five-ish.

You've been asleep all day.

You working tonight?
Test The Nation's on.

No, I've...
got a thing.

What kind of thing?

A vampire thing.

I thought you were on the wagon.

We don't kill people there,
it's just a...

Thing.

So...

I'm gonna get up now.

OK.

Oh, right!

Last night, George asked me about death.
He asked me what I saw.

- And what did you tell him?
- He's religious, he has a faith?

Yeah, he's jewish.

I said it was a good place,
I said it was like in films.

You've seen it too, though,
haven't you?

Death.

You've seen the corridor with men
at the end, with sticks and rope...

You did the right thing.

He doesn't need to know that.

None of them do.

You're late.

What happened to Lauren?

Don't worry about her.

Hi.

Hi, everyone.

Thank you.

Thanks.

As you know,

I've been visiting some of our cousins
abroad recently, and I thought I might take

this opportunity to share with you
some thoughts we've been having.

Now, I know these occasions are usually
blissfully free of any formality, so...

I promise it'll be painless
and I'll make it quick.

I wonder how many times
we've all said that, eh?

George?

George!

When you came in here this evening,

did you notice
those little Buddha statues,

just at the top of the stairs?

It's funny, isn't it, how...

in just a couple of random objects
you get such a strong sense
of pride in a history and a heritage?

How wonderful that must be.

Obviously, it's different for us.

We don't have to preserve
our culture. We live on,

we are our own monuments.

But is that really what stops us?

Isn't there also an element
of shame?

George, stop!

What the hell is wrong with you?

Julia!

- What are you doing here?
- We need to talk, George.

I can't just let... I need to know
what happened, what is happening.

You can't...
You can't be here.

I've finished with Peter.

It's over now, but I need to know
what's happening with us.

OK, you're right.

We should talk, just not now, OK?
I promise you...

- What are you doing?
- There's something I have to do

and you can't be here.
Tomorrow.

- You're not getting rid of me again.
- I'm... I'm...

I'm not.
Let's meet tomorrow, we can...

No! I won't let you...

Oh, God...

What have you done?

It's no good.
It won't budge, we're locked in.

Good,

coz now you're gonna have
to talk to me.

No, no, no, no, no,
this is bad.

Oh, God, this is bad.
This is bad!

Christ, it's fine,
we can call someone.

They won't hear us this far down.

So talk to me!

- George?
- Annie? I need to talk to Mitchell.

Oh, he's gone out.

Left his phone.
I wouldn't answer,

- but I saw it was you, so...
- He's what?

Want to leave a message?
Hang on...

There's a pen here

somewhere.
We should get a little pad.

Annie, shut up!

I'm in the isolation room

but there's someone with me.

- I need you to come and get them out.
- Someone's with you? How?

It doesn't matter!

Annie, listen.

I've got maybe 20 minutes before
I change. I need you down here now.

- But I, I... I can't.
- You can.

It's underneath the hospital.

You get the lift to the lower basement
and follow the signs for Area 9.

George, I can't leave the house!

I will kill her.

I will tear her apart.

I don't know what will happen to me
if l leave. I don't know.

ANNIE, YOU HAVE TO COME HERE NOW!

- I'm sorry, I can't.
- Annie, don't...

I can't, I'm so sorry!

- She hung up!
- What's going on? Who was that?

SHE'S TURNED IT OFF!

There must be another way out...

Or maybe somewhere I can put you.

Somewhere...
Somewhere you'll be safe.

I don't see...
Someone will find us eventually.

I HAVEN'T GOT TIME!

For centuries,
we have suppressed our true nature.

Why?

Our ancestors walked
with pharaohs and kings!

And yet here we are,

exiled to the fringes of society...

Ashamed of our glory,
scuttling about

like thieves...

And breaking bread with freaks.

- The door. Maybe unscrew the hinges...
- You need to calm down.

Someone will find us,
it'll be all right.

We have surrendered, my friends...

To a race... of thugs

that loot the world
of her resources, scorch

and choke the environment,

happy to dispatch their young
to fight distant, meaningless wars

and watch as the ships return
piled high with bodies.

This is who we have left in charge.

We had our chance.

We had our chance to evolve
but we didn't take it.

We were still marauding around
like it was the dark ages.

We weren't expelled from society,

we butchered our way out.

And Lauren...

Was she butchered, Mitchell?

Ah, there...

You see?

This is what I'm talking about.
Look how ashamed we've become.

Why? Why?

Didn't he that made the lamb
also make us?

We shouldn't skulk around
in shadows,

but wash across this world
like the flood.

Glory,

glory...

And let the children of Darwin behold
the final act of evolution.

Glory, my friends,
and feast!

It is our right.

It is our destiny.

It is our time.

What's the matter?

It's happening.

- Oh God, it's happening.
- What? What's happening?!

- George, what are you doing?
- JUST STAY BACK!

STAY BACK!

You don't understand!

It never ends! It never ends!

You're sick, darling, you need help.

I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

I love you.

George, please...

George, what the hell's going on?

- We need to get out.
- He's still in there,

- there's something wrong!
- Look at me. Stay looking at me!

How does he live with it?

It looks so...

So painful,

like it was tearing him apart.

At least now I know why he left.

Are you a...

- Are you one of them too?
- No, I'm something else.

- What?
- A ghost.

- A ghost?
- I'm not a fan of the word.

But I can see you.

I know.

Since I met George and Mitchell,
I've been feeling like...

Before then, I was all alone,
it were like drowning. But now...

Just being...

recognised by someone, being...

liked and known...

It's like that's what makes you real.

Who's Mitchell?

George's friend. He's a vampire.

I'm sorry.

I'm just a bit...

It's a lot to take in.

It'll be getting light soon.
George'll be...

... back.

What d'you wanna do?

Say goodbye.

So...

So...

- I thought you were gay.
- That'd have been easier.

Struggling to think of something
that wouldn't.

What happens now?

It's too huge for me.

- I'm not strong enough for this.
- You think I am?

George...

You never truly understood
how strong you are.

You've lived with this
for nearly two years...

But I can't do this.

- I'm only...
- Human?

I'm so sorry.

Look after him.

You must be the vampire.

So...
you've just arrived at Hogwarts.

Which house do they put you in?

I'd like to say Gryffindor,

but they're supposed to be brave.
What's the other one?

Ravenclaw.
Does that have a characteristic?

I think they're brainy.

You could be in Ravenclaw.

I quite fancy Hufflepuff, actually.

They just spend the day making stuff
with safety scissors and glitter.

- What about you?
- I think they'd say,

"It's probably best

"if you just stay in the canteen
for the next five years."

Does anyone ever choose Slytherin?

No, because that would be like saying,
"I'm a sociopath."

Can I sit there?

- Why?
- So I can be closer to the house.

You actually need
to be closer to the house?

- It helps, yeah.
- But I'm comfy here.

Fine.

I might start fading a bit, that might
freak some people out, but...

Thank you.

Oh, yeah.
That is much better.

- George, will you drink my drink?
- Why you order it?

I can't just sit here, can I?

But if I drink,
it'll make puddle on my seat.

Same with lager,
goes straight through me.

I've a feeling
we're gonna hear that joke a lot.

It will, in time,
become a much loved friend.

Just being here with you two,
that's the main thing.

Don't feel bad about eating

or drinking in front of me, just because
I'll never experience them ever again.

I don't want that to stop you.

That's a bit of a waste,
isn't it, George?

You shouldn't be eating bacon anyway.
You're jewish.

I gave up on the whole orthodoxy thing
when I started turning into a wolf.

They've rules about werewolves?

You'd be hard pressed to find a religion
that doesn't frown on it.

What about the Moonies?

Same again?

OK. You win 10 million pounds.

- What do you do?
- Buy Colin Firth.

Mitchell...

Dangerous.

Mitchell...

- Mitchell...
- Lauren.

Thank you. Thank you so much.

- Lauren, I am so sorry.
- What are you talking about?

This is the most extraordinary thing
that's ever happened to me.

You took away that useless broken body,

that pathetic half-life.

I feel so powerful,

so strong,

like my body's made of diamonds.

- Lauren, please...
- The things I have seen, Mitchell.

The things I can do.

So beautiful,

so savage!

I can never forgive myself
for what I did to you.

I wanna start recruiting.

I can't wait,
but they say I have to.

- They say it's complicated.
- Listen to me.

You've got to remember
what you were.

Your friends and family,
what they still are.

They're prey.

You actually like them?

They're nothing compared to us.

They're like...
drawings on paper.

You know what's gonna happen,
don't you?

- We can all feel it.
- We can't go back to what we were.

We can't start hunting again.

The others, they talk about you.

Is it true you're friends
with some kind of animal?

He isn't an animal and neither am I.

Lauren...

You think you can run from this?

You think you can run
from who you are?

Everything's about to change.

It's just nature,

like tectonic plates
moving and shifting,

and it all begins here...

Now.

You'll need to decide
who your friends are.
