Beauty and the Beast (2012–2016): Season 3, Episode 9 - Cat's Out of the Bag - full transcript

After a powerful force ruins Cat and Vincent's wedding day, everyone must band together to remind Cat of her greater purpose.

NARRATOR:
Previously on Beauty and the Beast:

- Liam sent you.
- Who is Liam?

He tricked me into making him
superhuman, but I escaped,

and I have been trying to figure out
how to stop him ever since.

And now you have to.
You're the only one who has a chance.

You're getting married tomorrow.

And nothing is gonna stand
in the way of that, okay?

Right now, quickly! Go!

- Talk to me. Are you okay?
- Where'd he go?

He's gone.

Hey.

- Did you get any sleep last night?
- Barely.

- You?
- No.

- Want some coffee?
- I'd love some.

- Are you gonna get stitches?
- No. No, I don't really need them.

Come on, you going to work today?

Yeah. Yeah, Tess is under fire
trying to explain why

Julianna was murdered
at our wedding, so...

Right. Which is why we need
to track Liam together, and fast.

Vincent, I meant what I said last night.
I don't want to go after him.

- This isn't our responsibility.
- How can you say that?

Not only did he kill Julianna,
he completely destroyed our wedding.

And he needs to be caught
and brought to justice,

just like every other murderer.

He's not just like
every other murderer, okay?

You know it.
You have seen what he can do.

Yeah, I saw that he almost
killed both of us,

and I'm not willing to risk that anymore.
This isn't our fight.

How come you've been saying it is
for the last few months?

Okay, and now I finally believe it,
so, come on, what's changed?

What's changed is that I know what
we're really up against now, and...

I'm scared.
This was a huge mistake.

Okay, yes, I get it, okay?

But those DHS agents--

Were wrong to ask us
to get involved in the first place.

I didn't see it then, but you did,
Vincent, and you were right.

We fought Muirfield, beasts, Gabe,
and it should've stopped there.

This is... This is too much.

Okay, well, try telling that
to the innocents that we've saved,

okay, because DHS put us
on this case.

- Isn't this what we do?
- Yes.

We save innocent people every day,
you as a doctor and rne as a cop.

And in order for me
to keep doing that,

I've gotta help Tess solve this
like a regular police case,

so we can get back to helping
the people we can help.

Hey, what did you say to me
when I first proposed to you?

That you thought that we were
part of something bigger.

- Something just like this, right?
- I was wrong, okay?

Maybe... Maybe I just wanted
to make a difference so badly

that I was willing to believe whatever
it is DHS wanted me to believe.

That this was our fight.
And it's not, Vincent.

This is way over our heads.

I'm done.

J.T .:
What do you mean, she's done?

Done, like, you mean, with Liam?
Or done, like, with everything?

With everything.

If it's anything other than
a police case,

Catherine doesn't want to
have anything to do with it anymore.

Yeah, well, can't really blame her.

I'm just saying, you guys have done
a lot, you know? For a long time.

Lucky we're all still alive.

Yeah, well, that's exactly her point,
you know?

She doesn't want to risk it anymore,

especially after what happened
at the wedding.

Again, you can't really blame her.

Come on, man,
whose side are you on?

Your side, our side, but, you know,

it's not like her argument
doesn't have merit.

Yeah, I know, I know, it's just...

Julianna turned this Liam guy
into some kind of superhuman,

and then she died trying to stop him
by experimenting on other innocents.

It's crazy. If we're the only ones
who know about it,

- then we can't just walk away, right?
- I know, I'm on your side, I get it.

The only thing I don't get is
what changed for Cat.

I mean, I didn't buy into this whole
destiny spiel of hers at first, but...

- I do now.
- Yeah, well, so do I.

- Problem is, now Catherine doesn't.
- She's probably just overreacting.

It's understandable.
She'll come around. She has to.

Yeah, well, I can't wait.
You know, I gotta try and find Liam

before his trail goes completely cold.

You try beast-tracking him
from the church?

Yeah. Obviously he knows
how to cover his tracks.

[SIGHS]

How's this serum
of Julianna's coming along?

Well, I'm not having much luck
separating the superhuman paris

from the
"you'll go crazy and die" pads.

And if I can't, it'll be too risky
to inject into you.

Well, maybe I won't even need it
to stop Liam, right?

- Julianna said you would.
- Julianna didn't know me.

Besides, I'm still here.
I haven't lost a fight yet, have I?

Not with Cat by your side.

Yeah, well, let's hope she does
what you say and she comes around.

Where are you going?

To try and figure out another way
to track this Liam guy.

No, we haven't found
any suspects yet.

But it's only been 24 hours
since Julianna was murdered.

A half dozen chiefs and assistant chiefs
were at that wedding. Understand?

- They want answers. I want answers.
- And I will get them for you, chief.

- But it's gonna take time.
- You don't have time, Tess. Captain.

A fugitive was murdered there,
your fugitive.

In a minute,
the press will be all over this.

If the department doesn't
have suspects--

We have a board going.

I'm filling it with anybody who might've
had motive to kill Julianna Keaton.

That's not good enough, damn it.

I know you vouched for me
to get this job. I appreciate that.

I appreciate the pressure
that we're all under to solve this,

but give me time
to do the job you hired me to do.

I will, Tess. I'm trying.

But you're better than this. You should
have had a working theory by now.

Makes me wonder
if somethings going on here

- that I don't know about.
- Listen, Tess, I figured out--

- Figured out what?
- What are you doing here?

- You should be home.
- It's okay. I'm okay.

You asked me to look into suspects
in Julianna's murder, right?

Yeah, but not the day
after your wedding.

Still, you were pretty insistent,
captain, and so I got right to work.

I might have figured out
who killed her.

Why don't you give
the chief and I a second--?

- Who do you think it was?
- The Interpol terrorist

who escaped from JFK
before my wedding.

- Liam Cullen?
- Yeah, Liam Cullen.

Cat, I was doing everything I could
not to connect Liam to Julianna,

to keep the superhuman crap
out of it.

You don't understand,
that's the point.

I don't want you to cover anymore.
Why should you?

Why should I--? What the hell
are you talking about?

- We don't have a choice.
- Yes, we do.

This isn't about beasts, right?

Or Vincent or me.

So why should we have to lie
to cover for whoever this Liam guy is?

Did you get hit in the head
when he attacked?

I mean, obviously
you are not thinking clearly.

I was wrong to think that this was
all my responsibility, okay?

And since every person
that I care about

has been put in danger
because of it,

it's my responsibility to fix it.

Look, we have a victim, right?
We know who did it.

So why hide it?
Let's just build a case.

Prove that Liam's the one that
killed her, and move on with our lives.

- You make it sound so simple.
- It is simple.

This is our Get Out of Jail Free card.

This is our golden opportunity
to get out from underneath all this.

So, what, we treat a superhuman
monster like a regular perp?

- Arrest him? Then what?
- I don't know.

I don't know, but I know that we can't
keep doing this by ourselves anymore.

There's a limit to what we can do.

I think that if we can get together
enough cops to corner Liam,

he's not gonna use his powers.
Not in public, anyway.

The one thing that we know that
all of these people have in common--

Beasts, Julianna, Liam.
--Is that they don't want to be exposed.

Besides, do you have a better idea?

Excuse me, captain,
somebody just got caught

- breaking into the morgue.
- Give it to the lieutenant.

He got caught trying to steal
Julianna Keaton's body.

Liam. I'll need backup.

Check the north staircase.

You?

It's just a little misunderstanding.

- I got this.
- Okay, we're good here.

What are you doing here? Why would
you want to steal Julianna's body?

I didn't try and steal Julianna's body.
I was just trying to track Liam off of it.

- Anyway, it's a good thing I came--
- No, it is not a good thing.

This is a police case, I told you.
One that I am handling.

This is not a police case,
and you know it.

- We have had this conversation.
- No, you had this conversation.

I didn't agree to anything.

But once you see what someone's
done to Julianna's body,

I think you'll agree with me.

- What happened?
- All the blood was drained

from her body, postmortem.
Even from her lymphatic system,

meaning there's not an ounce
of blood left anywhere.

- But why?
- I don't know.

I guess Liam thought
she was enhanced too.

Either wanted to get
the serum for himself,

or make sure no one else
gets their hands on it.

Or he wanted to destroy any evidence
that could conceivably link him to her.

- Superhuman evidence, right?
- Only we know that.

As far as anyone else is concerned,
he's a creepy guy with a creepy motive.

- This city is full of them.
- Catherine, you can't cover this up.

I don't plan on it.
I'm going to interview witnesses

and see if I can prove
that Liam did this.

- That's never gonna work.
- Where are you going?

To try and track
whoever took Julianna's blood.

No, you can't, Vincent.
I have to bring you in for questioning.

You're serious?

Don't make me arrest you, honey.

Listen, if you have to
subpoena tapes, do it.

Gas stations, ATMs, Metro.
I'll take every camera I can get.

- Cat.
- 39th is sending us more surveillance,

see if we can spot Liam
near the morgue.

Tell rne you didn't bring Vincent
in for questioning, please.

Yeah, I did.

- Cat...
- Relax.

It's not really for questioning.
It's just for show.

With Command breathing down
your neck, I didn't want to cut corners.

- It's for your own good.
- It's not for your own good.

- Vincent's pissed.
- He won't be when this is behind us.

When we get our normal lives back,
which is all he ever wanted.

Normally I'd be the first to applaud you
getting back in the fold, being a cop,

but I don't think you're
really thinking this thing through.

Tess...

You arrested Julianna.

She escaped
and broke into your precinct,

then she got killed on your watch.

That's not the way I'd look at it,
but it's the way that Chief Ward does.

You need to stop covering.
You need a plausible explanation.

And the only way to get that is
to bust the guy who killed her: Liam.

[PHONE RINGING]

This is Detective Chandler.

I'm telling you, okay?
Catherine is losing her damn mind.

Okay, let's calm down.
We'll figure this out.

What's there to figure out?
We gotta get her back onboard.

Catherine knows
that we work better together.

- What the hell is she thinking?
- She's not thinking. She's afraid.

She's afraid she made
a terrible mistake,

putting us all up to this.
She feels responsible.

She was right to get us involved
in this in the first place.

Maybe we didn't see it at first,
but she was. She was right.

Except now she's not so sure,
which is why she wants to stop it.

The danger, the cover-ups.

Okay, in her defence,
it's not a great way to live.

I know, believe me.
I spent 12 years of my life

trying to cover things up.
It's not the solution.

But it won't catch Liam, either.
Tess, we gotta stop him, okay?

Otherwise, God only knows
what he's gonna do next.

I know, I know, but I also know

that bad things happen
when you and Cat aren't in sync.

So, what do you suggest we do?

Something a little drastic.

Yeah, Tyler Zane.
We arrested him three months ago.

He was put into a psychiatric hospital.
I can't remember which one.

Oh, yeah, call me back.
Okay, thanks. Bye.

[GASPS]

What are you doing here?

- What is going on?
- We need to talk.

What is this, an intervention? I
can't believe you're ganging up on rne.

Just trying to make you understand
that you are making a huge mistake.

No, I am trying to rectify one.
And, by the way,

the position that I am taking
is the same one you all used to take.

So, what, you don't want
normal lives anymore?

Of course we do,
but we can't pretend

this isn't happening,
that Liam's not out there, can we?

We're not. I told you.

We're just not gonna handle this
by ourselves anymore.

Hey. guys, what's going on?

Heather, why are you here?

Bringing the presents from the church.
I assume you'll return them?

Cat, of course we all still want
normal lives. That hasn't changed.

But what I'm trying to figure out
is why you changed.

Weren't you at the wedding?
Didn't you see what happened?

Yeah, but frankly that stuff
happens to us all the time.

Not like that, it doesn't.
And not anymore.

- Does anyone wanna fill me in?
- Look, maybe

it was part of the bigger purpose,

All right?
Something that you used to believe in.

And something I was pretty
sceptical about at first,

- but now I'm not.
- Ditto that.

Look, Cat, all I want is a normal life.
You know that, okay?

But we can't have that
until we finish what we started,

which is to stop
whoever is behind all this.

But we can't stop them.

Don't you understand?
We are not superhuman.

We can't fight every fight. No one can.
And I don't want to die trying.

- I agree with Cat.
- Heather, please. Not now.

Look, I know that I am relatively new
to this whole beast/superhuman thing,

but I'm not new to being a sister.
She's the only family I have left.

And I don't want to lose her,
or any of you.

Or me. I get her argument,
but I don't get any of yours.

Well, either you buy into the destiny
of it all, or you don't, but--

Who says? I mean, how can you
prove it's her destiny?

Or yours or mine? I don't even know
if I believe in destiny, anyway.

Okay, what about responsibility?
Don't you believe in that?

It sounds to me like
Cat's being very responsible,

wanting to handle this like a cop,
and not risk our lives by doing it alone.

It makes all the sense in the world.

What she said.

Look, I appreciate your concern,
I do.

And, more importantly,
I appreciate everything

you guys have done so far, but I...
lam not changing my mind.

I was wrong to put us on this path,

and I'm not gonna stop
till I get us off it.

- I'll go check on her.
- Mm-hm.

- Do you realise what you just did?
- What? I was just saying how I feel.

Mm-mm. You just put a whole lot of
people's lives at risk. Innocent people.

- Vincent--
- You think I like doing this, Heather?

You think I like the fact that
my wedding just blew up in my face?

I'm sorry.

Yeah, because if Cat doesn't
turn it around, and quick,

Liam is gonna be out there,

and a whole lot of innocent people
are gonna die.

It's not just our lives
at stake here. You get that?

Yeah.

I'm gonna go and try and track Liam.

Mind if I join you?

Depends. Are you gonna
yell at me too?

[CHUCKLES]

- Never seen Vincent that mad before.
- You've never seen him beast out?

Okay, other than that.
Just... not at me.

Didn't realise what I got myself
in the middle of.

Yeah? Well, welcome to the club.
It ain't easy.

And I don't think Vincent meant
to get that upset.

He's just worried about Cat, and he
knows how important you are to her,

and how much
she values your opinion.

Well, if he's so worried about her,
why is he so willing to risk her life?

What's this?

The reason Cat's willing
to risk her life.

- Well, at least up until today.
- I don't get it. It's a journal.

- And it looks old.
- It is old. About 170 years old.

It belonged to Cat's
great-great-great-great aunt, Rebecca.

Cat's father's line, but not yours.

And bottom line is, Rebecca
fell in love with a beast too.

- What?
- It's a long story, but the point is,

Cat never believed in
any of this destiny stuff, either,

until she read this.

And then she saw that she and Vincent
were following in the same footsteps

as Rebecca and her beast,
decades ago.

This is the first
I've ever heard of any of this.

Okay, so, what does it mean?

Um, as far as Cat's concerned--
Was concerned.

--It means she and Vincent
are destined to do more.

[SCOFFS]

Okay, I know, but when you read it,
and then when you think about

all that Cat and Vincent
have been through,

why they're together...

It's hard not to believe.

Oh, asylums creep me out.

Too bad, because we might be here
a while. Did you bring a pee bottle?

We're staking the place out?
You just wanted to talk to Zane.

No, I want to wait
till Liam comes after him.

- To get Zane's blood.
- If I'm right, yeah.

He went after Julianna's blood
thinking it was enhanced.

Why not go after
her first experiment too?

- What about the other experiments?
- Bob and Carol are already dead,

and so is the mercenary
who came after us at the Falls.

And J.T. and Alton
are already cured.

Okay, what do we do
if Liam attacks Zane?

Tranq gun.

- What if that doesn't work?
- Then we make a big-ass scene.

We get every alarm sounding,
every surveillance camera shooting,

and expose him.

Or we could just call Vincent
and get a little beast help over here.

We've already gone over this.

It's not gonna help you or us
move past this mess.

[GUNSHOTS]

Okay, call for backup.

Dispatch, this is Captain Vargas.
Shots fired.

[GROWLING]

Freeze!

That's not Liam.

- You check on Vincent.
- Okay.

N.Y.P.D. Back me up.

- Are you all right?
- Yeah. Yeah, I think so.

I tracked him here to Zane,
but I was too late.

Zane's dead.

We need to talk.

[POLICE SIRENS WAILING]

- Is he gonna live?
- Not if he keeps ending up in here.

You've been more patient
than doctor lately.

- I guess I'm just accident-prone.
- Oh, yeah, that's the problem.

Okay, well, there's no signs
of a concussion.

A few minor abrasions and bruises.
You're lucky you didn't break anything.

- Next time, should take the elevator.
- Yes.

- Elevator?
- What?

- What did you say you did?
- Just that I fell down some stairs.

- That's not what happened.
- What am I supposed to tell him?

That I jumped out of a fourth-storey
window to avoid machine gun fire?

That's the truth. We have to
explain what happened somehow.

How do I explain that
with a few bumps and bruises?

Come on. You want me
to expose myself too?

Look, if I hadn't beasted out on the fall,
I'd probably be a dead man right now.

Well, if the hit man
was a better shot, you'd be dead too.

Which is exactly why
I want to stop doing this.

How was I to know that Liam hired
somebody else to do his dirty work?

All I tried to do was track
whoever took Julianna's blood.

And you almost got killed
in the process,

by somebody who's willing
to do anything and everything

- to get what he wants.
- See what this means?

It means I'm getting closer.
It also means we now know

that Liam wants anybody
who has the serum in their bodies.

Which, as far as we know,
is nobody else.

Nobody that we know of.

Either way, all I have to do
is pick up the trail of the hit man again.

And hopefully he leads me
back to Liam.

So that he can, what,
toss you around like a rag doll,

- like he did at our wedding?
- Well, what's your solution?

Track him down your way,
by the book?

What, you don't think
he's gonna kill cops?

Exactly. You can't take that chance.

Which means, like it or not, Catherine,
this isn't a police case.

You're right, it isn't.

It's Homeland Security's case.

Give me a break.

No, they deal with the worst
of the worst: terrorists, assassins.

- It's their job.
- Okay.

Besides, they gave us this case.
I'm gonna give it back to them.

- J.T.? Jeez, are you okay?
- Yeah, fine. Just my ego is bruised.

- Well, what are you doing?
- I was trying to separate the good part

of Julianna's serum from the bad,
but it's obviously networking.

Yeah, well, neither is this.

It's a terrible story,
what happened to Rebecca.

If you think reading it would
change my mind about Cat, forget it.

Wait, didn't you read
what happened to Alistair?

Yeah, he was burned at the stake
by an angry mob.

J.T., he died.

So if anything
that just supports what Cat is doing,

so that Vincent won't die, either,
fighting beasts or superhuman crazies.

But that's just it.

Vincent didn't die.

An almost identical situation
happened to Cat and Vincent last year,

but because Cat read
Rebecca's journal,

she learned from it. She didn't make
the same mistake Rebecca did.

And that's how she saved Vincent.

Okay, that doesn't prove
that Cat and Vincent have a destiny.

Except why would Rebecca
have written it all down

if she didn't believe
that somebody down the line

- was destined to fight the same fights?
- What?

You think it's coincidence
that almost 200 years later,

Cat met Vincent
just like Rebecca met Alistair?

And they both had to fight beasts
and monsters like Liam?

- Yeah, it could be a coincidence.
- Or it isn't. And if it's not,

if it is fate, or destiny,
or whatever you want to call it,

then Cat could be making the
biggest mistake of her life by quitting.

Because if she and Vincent are meant
to be together, and not just for love,

then they do have a greater purpose,
one that they can't quit.

I'm sorry, it just all sounds
so far-fetched.

Like beasts
and superhumans aren't?

Okay. There's somebody
I want you to talk to.

Somebody that knows more
about this stuff than anybody.

- Who?
- Cat's father.

I know. Trust me.

- Didn't start without you, captain.
- Thank you.

WARD: Detective Chandler said
you discovered a break in the case.

- I'm kind of short on time, so...
- Right, okay.

So, DHS approached
Captain Vargas and I

to help investigate
a dangerous new street drug,

hoping that we could track down
its distributor.

DHS approached you directly? Why
didn't they use the proper channels?

- Well, actually--
- It was before Tess became captain.

- Right.
- Anyway, we followed

a couple of leads to two users,
Tyler Zane and Alton Finn.

Zane? Isn't he that Vic you found
dead in the psychiatric hospital?

Exactly. And I think-- We think
that he was killed in a cover-up.

The same cover-up
that cost Julianna Keaton her life.

Wait, what's Keaton's
connection to all this?

Well, she was the one responsible
for making the drug. Right?

And distributing it,
which is why we arrested her.

And then she broke out of jail,

she tried to steal all the evidence
that we had against her,

and then she tried to get revenge
against rne at my wedding.

Okay, so, what are you suggesting?

I'm suggesting
we give this case back to DHS.

I mean, if we're dealing with
an Interpol terrorist,

this is way over our heads.
This guy is a monster.

- You agree?
- It's her case.

Okay, give it back to DHS.

Tell them we'll cooperate
in whatever way we can,

but that it's their case.

Which means
it's no longer our problem.

Looks like you're
off the hook, captain.

Thanks.

Oh, Cat, I sure hope
you know what you're doing.

I am getting our lives back,
that's what I'm doing.

Come on, let's go finish this
once and for all.

So why did my agents
approach you with this, again?

I don't know. Actually, I think
they were looking for some help.

- Help in finding Liam?
- No, Julianna.

We don't know how Liam's
involved, exactly.

Well, other than the fact that
he murdered Julianna.

Well, if this Liam Cullen--
If that really is his name.

If he is involved, then this case
should never have left DHS,

especially if Interpol wants him too.

Are you sure that you ID'd
this man at your wedding?

- Positive.
- There is no question

that he killed
Julianna Keaton, Agent Russo.

- Do you have any idea why?
- Theories. They're all in the file.

You might want to look at Thomas's
and Barnett's files, though,

since they're the agents
that contacted us originally.

Well, this is obviously not a local case,
so we will be taking it over from here.

I would like to apologise for
any inconvenience

that this may have caused you
or your precinct.

Thank you.

- So that's it?
- Yes, that's it.

If you just send over the rest
of your files, you'll be done.

- So?
- What?

How do you feel?
You got what you wanted.

- You're finally free from it all.
- Feels good.

Doesn't it? I mean, you don't have
to cover for us anymore, right?

- Right.
- Then what's the matter?

- I thought you'd be happy.
- I don't know. I mean, I am.

This whole thing's been one big mess
for a long time now. I just...

I hope we're doing the right thing.

THOMAS:
What do you mean, she gave up?

Catherine can't give up.
What happened?

Look, I don't even know
what I'm doing here.

- I don't even know you.
- Well, for what it's worth, I know you.

I mean, I know of you, Heather.
I mean, your father was a good man.

I don't need you telling me that.
From everything I've heard, you're not.

Cat would kill me
if she knew I was here.

- Let's go.
- Look, look.

We need to know
what happened to Rebecca.

- Rebecca Reynolds?
- Yeah, after Alistair died.

What did she do? Did she give up?

She died.
Actually, she was murdered.

- What?
- Oh, yeah. It was about a year or so

after Alistair was killed.
It was probably the same beast.

- Does she know...?
BOTH: Yes.

But I don't think Heather fully
grasps the unique...

...Reynolds family connection,
if you know what I mean.

He's right. I don't.

Well, you should, because your sister's
life could very well depend on it.

Look, I'll admit, I didn't believe in
any connections to the past, either.

- In fact, truth be told...
- He tried to have Vincent killed.

But that was before I understood

that he and Catherine
were meant to be together.

All right? I thought he was just
like the other ones, a threat to her,

- but I was wrong.
- So, what does this have to do

- with Rebecca and Alistair?
- Rebecca and Alistair? Everything.

A hundred and seventy years ago,

they were fighting the same fights,
but they lost.

I believe that Vincent and Catherine
are meant to pick up where they left off.

But if Catherine quits...

Well, the same thing that happened
to Rebecca when she quit,

that could happen to Catherine too.

- This is crazy.
THOMAS: No, it's real.

It's in Catherine's blood,
the same way it's in Vincent's blood.

Alistair and Rebecca failed.

Vincent and Catherine,
they can't, don't you see?

I can't explain it, but I have seen it.
She's connected to all of this.

Which means that they
are gonna come looking for her

whether she is looking
for them or not.

Help me.

- Okay, hang in there, buddy.
- Please.

- Okay, don't move. It's gonna be okay.
- Help me.

Alton Finn.

Hope DHS doesn't ask
too many questions about these.

- Like what?
- Oh, you know,

like what really happened
with Bob and Carol,

how we really busted Julianna,
what we really know.

We already told them what we know.
This is their case now, remember?

Which means maybe I can start
focusing on salvaging my wedding.

- Hello.
- Hey.

Liam is going after more victims.

What are you talking about?
There aren't any more victims.

Yeah, well, try telling that
to Liam's hit man.

Get this, I just tracked him
to Alton Finn.

Alton? But the serum
isn't even in him anymore.

His tumour was removed.
He was supposed to be cured.

I know, which means Liam's
now going after anyone

who's had the serum in them.

J.T.

- So, where are we?
- You mean, am I on the destiny train?

- Uh, yeah, that.
- I don't know, J.T.

I mean, I'm still getting used
to the whole beast thing, so...

Yeah, I mean, I guess
anything is possible,

but you're asking me to believe

that Cat is somehow connected
to all of this, and that it's her destiny,

and then you want me
to talk her into it.

[CELL PHONE RINGING]

On the other hand, if you don't believe
there's a reason for all this,

then it has to be just one big fluke,
which is harder to believe.

- Hello.
- Are you all right?

Am I all right? Yeah.
Why wouldn't I be?

- Is he okay?
- Liam attacked Alton.

What? Alton?
Wait, why? He's cured.

- Who's Alton?
- Wait, is that Heather?

You need to get out of there now.

[GUNSHOTS]

- Get down!
- J.T.?

- What's happening?
- J.T., are you all right?

This look like a fluke to you?!

- I don't understand why they want you.
- They don't. They want my blood.

- Wait, why?
- I don't know.

Apparently they don't know
there's no serum left in it.

MAN: Move, move!
- What?

- Come on, come on.
- All right.

We gotta make it to the vault.

- Should we try and get out of here?
- Something tells me they won't let us.

Come on. Stay low. Go, go.

Go, go, go. Stay low.

Go. Now, now. Go, go.

- Hold your fire! Hold your fire!
- Nicely done.

Yeah, I'm getting good
at being attacked.

- Now you know why I like Scotch.
- Yeah.

Get the bag.

[POLICE SIREN WAILING]

- Any luck?
- No, no J.T. or Vincent.

- It's all my fault, damn it.
- How is it your fault?

I should've known what was going on.
I just wanted it all to stop.

Nobody saw this coming.

J.T. and Alton are cured. Who'd
have thought Liam wanted them?

I would've, if I hadn't been hell-bent
on putting this all behind us.

There's nothing wrong with that.

Unless we're in too deep
and can't get out.

- Or we're a part of something bigger.
- Okay, call Vincent again.

Where the hell is he?

Why do you have a vault
in your home?

It came with the place. Used to be
a bank, and then a gentlemen's club.

- Can you shoot a gun?
- No. I mean, I never have before.

Learn.

Okay.

Come on, come on, come on.

Old security system
came with the place too.

Hopefully we'll see
what's going on out there.

It's awfully quiet. Maybe they left?

Not the way they came in.

- Wait, what are those?
- Plastic explosives.

- What does that mean?
- It means the gun won't help.

- Let's get down.
- What?

Get back.

I said, get back.

Brace yourself.

Vincent!

[GROWLING]

Vincent!

Cat.

- Oh, my God.
- You believe in destiny now?

Look at this place.

WOMAN: Stand back, folks.
Keep this area clear.

MAN: We have to collect everything,
every shell casing...

I'm still not clear
why Professor Forbes was a target,

and how any of this is connected
to Liam killing Julianna Keaton.

We don't know.

One of the many reasons
why we gave the case back to you.

And I appreciate that, detective,
but, still, this doesn't add up.

What could possibly be
the connection?

Well, that's the
million-dollar question, right?

Yep, I guess it is.

We'll be in touch.

Well, that was fun.
Thank God you covered.

- I didn't have much of a choice.
- Actually, you did.

Does this mean
you're finally back onboard?

No, it means that I don't know
what's right anymore.

Which is why I told Vincent to leave
before everyone got here.

Didn't wanna raise any flags
that I couldn't take down.

Sounds like the old Cat to me.
Just saying.

- Hey, everything all right?
- Are you all right?

Yeah, I think.

Although I can't figure out
why Liam was after my blood.

- Shh, not so loud.
- Where's Heather?

Uh, she went for a walk.
You might want to join her.

MAN: Looks like they shot out
the windows from the outside...

- Hey.
- Hey.

Are you okay?

Define "okay."

Oh, crazy life you lead, Cat.
Really crazy.

Yeah, I know. Keep trying
to figure out ways to change it.

- I don't think you can.
- What do you mean?

Guess who I met today.
Your father.

- In prison?
- Yeah.

He had some pretty interesting
things to say about you.

And about Rebecca.

- Did Vincent put you up to this?
- No. J.T. did, actually.

He cares about you too, Cat.
Everybody does. You're lucky.

But I don't think that
you can just quit this, Cat.

I mean, look at
what happened today.

It all comes back around to you,
whether you want it to or not.

Where is this coming from?

Vincent, your friends,
your ancestor, your...

Your destiny. I don't know.

Don't ask rne to try and explain it,
because I can't. It's just...

The more I think about it,
the more I realise that...

...maybe this is your path, Cat,
yours and Vincent's.

For whatever reason.

All right, spill. What's the matter?

- You following me?
- Don't flatter yourself.

- What can I get you?
- Hi. I'll have what he's having.

WOMAN:
Sure thing.

So?

So, what?

Doesn't matter.
It's not your problem anymore, okay?

Right, because the only reason
I listened to you

before we broke up was for sex.

Hey, keep your voice down, will you?

I thought I was cured. I really did.

Thought I was past
all this serum stuff.

J.T., just because Liam went after you
doesn't mean you're not cured.

He was also after Alton,
and Allen's cured.

Is he? Do you know that for sure?

Because Liam wanted both of us dead
for some reason.

And he sure went to
a hell of a lot of trouble to try too.

Still, you haven't had
any symptoms, right?

Maybe he was just making sure,
trying to cover his bases.

- Maybe.
- Look, bottom line is,

just because the guy's a maniac
and went all scorched-earth on you,

it doesn't prove that stuffs
still in you, okay?

Maybe not, but as long as he thinks
it is, he'll still be after me, right?

You realise, if we ever move,

we're gonna have to get
another place with a rooftop.

Spend enough time up here,
don't we?

Or not.

Well, we've been shot at up here,
attacked, attacked again.

Yeah, but we've also had
romantic dinners,

talked, kissed, made love.
It hasn't been all bad.

Well, hopefully it's more of the latter
and less of the former.

- That's the goal, right?
- Definitely.

So how do we get there?

I don't know.
I don't have an easy answer.

I thought I did.
I thought that by quitting the fight,

handing it off to Homeland Security
or somebody,

that that would be the answer,
but clearly it is not.

Really? Because after seeing
how far Liam is willing to go,

after everything he tried to do
to Heather and J.T.,

I was beginning to think
that you were right.

Now, maybe, maybe we can't
stop him by ourselves.

I know. It's scary.
That's why I wanted to quit,

to make sure that everybody we care
about isn't put in harm's way again,

- including ourselves. But...
- But we're in danger anyway.

Just like Rebecca was.

- I'll fill you in later.
- Okay.

Look, the point is
that even Heather is behind

this whole greater-purpose thing,
despite what almost happened to her.

Actually, everyone's behind it,
despite everything.

Does it really matter?

Because if you're not onboard,
then I'm not, either.

I just- I want it to end.

I want us to be able to
go back to our lives and get married.

Now, I think what you originally said,

that we have a greater responsibility,
is right,

but we also have a greater
responsibility to ourselves too.

Look, what I'm trying to say is...

I'll do whatever you want, okay,
as long as we do it together.

Then let's go get Liam.

Together.
