Austin & Ally (2011–2016): Season 4, Episode 20 - Duets & Destiny - full transcript

Years after the gang has gone their separate ways, Ally, Austin, Trish and Dez meet-up and learn what they have all been up to, individually.

Ally!

Austin!

It is so good to see you,
I missed you so much.

Me, too. I can't believe
it's been four months.

How's school?

Hard, but amazing.
How's the tour?

It's been fun, but
also really lonely.

And, it kinda got me thinking.

About us.

I didn't know at
the time, but...

The day I walked in the music store
was the greatest day of my life...

Because it's the day I met you.

There's so much about the
future I don't know,

but the one thing I'm sure of is, there's
no way I can make it without you.

So,

Ally Willow Dawson...

Will you make me the
happiest man alive and,

marry me?

Austin.

I can't...

Believe you're really
asking me to marry you!

Yes, yes, I will!

Wait.

That never happened.

First of all, Ally's
middle name isn't Willow,

and more importantly, Austin
never asked Ally to marry him.

I know, but what happened
in real life is too sad.

So, when I was putting
together my rockumentary,

the Austin and Ally story,

I used a little editing magic to make
it look like Austin was proposing.

Here's the original footage.

Whoa, what kind of bug is that?

Hey, I got him.

Come on. Touch him, he's fuzzy.

Austin, I can't...

Even look at it.

Ew! Ew!

Gross!

No audience wants to see
what really happened.

You mean that Austin and
Ally actually broke up

and haven't talked to
each other in years?

Uh, yeah. I can't end
my movie like that.

It's all so sad.

You know, Ally's coming
home this weekend,

and I tried to talk her into
going to Austin's show with us,

she said she doesn't
even want to see him.

Austin said he doesn't
want to see her either.

It's so weird that after all they've
been through they can't even be friends.

Tell me about it.

We're friends and
we hate each other.

I know, I hate you so much.

I just know that if we can get
Austin and Ally in the same room,

once they see each other,

everything will be fine and we can
all go back to being friends.

I think I know
just how to do it.

Wait a sec.

Is your plan an elaborate scheme that
involves lying, trickery and deceit?

Of course.

Then count me in!

Whoo!

And then, after I finished
my tour with the lion queen,

I got cast as Maggie in the musical,
Maggie and the magic overalls .

Overall, I'd say you're
doing really well.

Wow, it feels so weird
to be back here.

So many memories.

You mean like meeting Austin?

Writing songs with Austin?

Falling in love with Austin?

I see what you're doing and I
don't want to talk about it.

Austin is the past, I am
all about the future.

Now that I'm done with college, I'm just
excited to focus on my music again.

I'm really glad to
hear you say that,

because guess who booked you
on the Helen show this Friday?

Wait, the Helen show?
That's amazing!

Your fans are dying to
hear new music from you.

Wait. I'm supposed
to do a new song?

Ah. I gotta warn you.

School kept me so busy, my
songwriting is a little rusty.

Ally, you've never written
a bad song in your life.

Let's hear what you got.

Oh, boy.

I just wrote that at the
airport because the airline...

lost your luggage.
Yeah, I get it.

And then Atlanta
tonight and tomorrow,

and then I'll be back in Miami
for my show this weekend.

Can't wait to see ya, buddy.

Me, too.

What up?

- You okay, buddy?
- Ooh.

Ah, still there?

Hey, so you know how Trish booked
you on the Helen show this Friday?

Yeah. It's gonna be fun to
go back on the Helen show .

It's kinda where it
all started for me.

Well, I finally finished my film,
the Austin and Ally story,

and I was kinda hoping you guys
would bring me out to show a clip.

You guys?

Ally's not gonna
be there, is she?

What?

No! I said, "you guy."

I was hoping you guy
would bring me out.

You. Guy.

But, out of curiosity, would it
be a big deal if Ally was there?

I mean, she's not.
But if she was?

Dez, you know how hard
the breakup was for me.

It's still really painful.

There's no way I'm ready
to see Ally again.

Hey, Dez, look who's here.

Ally!

That was close.

Welcome to the Helen show!

Austin moon, you're
on in 10 minutes...

Is something I was supposed
to tell you nine minutes ago,

so, you got one minute.

Okay, buddy, just treat this like
any other talk show appearance.

There's no reason to
freak out or be nervous.

Why would I freak out?

See, that's exactly what I'm
talking about! Calm down!

Oh, Trish, thank you so much for
booking me on the Helen show,

you're a really great friend.

I am.

But, remember, no matter what happens
out there on the show today,

just know that I'm always trying
to be the best possible friend.

The best... friend... possible.

Best.

Okay...

Ally Dawson, you're
on in one minute.

Is something I was supposed
to say 55 seconds ago,

so you're pretty much on now.

Oh, okay.

We have an amazing
show for you tonight.

I could not be more excited
to have these special guests.

On stage for the first time together
in years, Austin moon and Ally Dawson!

Feel the love!

Together!

It feels right.

All right! Welcome back to
my show, Austin and Ally!

- Uh-huh.
- Yep. Yeah!

It is so great to have you here!

Now let's have some fun!

So why did you break up?

- Ah, we... just...
- Um, I... I don't really...

Ally, is it true that Austin
showed up at your dorm room

at Harvard and spelled out,
"I'm breaking up with you,"

in pickles?

Ah, no. That's just... weird.

Austin? Is it true
that Ally's dad

paid you a million dollars
to stay away from her?

- A million dollars?
- Mm-hmm.

No way! Do you know how
cheap Ally's dad is?

Are you making this stuff up?

Actually, yes, I am.

Since you two have never spoken
publicly about the breakup,

all we can do is make horrible
guesses as to what happened.

Look, the real story
isn't that interesting.

I was constantly on tour,
Ally was busy with school,

and we never had time
to see each other.

Aww.

It was frustrating and it was painful
to not be able to be together, so,

we decided that the best thing
to do was take a small break.

Mm.

Then a small break turned
into a long break.

Then a long break turned
into a really long break.

Then a really long
break turned into...

is this really
anybody's business?

Well, the important thing is is that
you're both back on my show again.

And who can forget Austin
and Ally's first appearance

on the Helen show
eight years ago?

Roll the clip!

L-let's hear it for Ally...
everybody.

I doubt anyone will ever
see a talk show appearance

more uncomfortable than that.

Today's pretty close.

This is going great!

Are you kidding me?

This is a disaster!

Austin and Ally are having
the worst time ever!

Oh, I know.

I just meant this is the best
episode of the Helen show

that I've ever seen. Riveting!

We gotta do something.

I have an idea.

So, how hard is it for you two
to see each other right now?

Is it awful?

Whoo!

Thank you. Thank you.

No, no, no. Thank you.

- Dez?
- What are you doing?

Creating a distraction.

I'm sorry, who are you?

My movie? Thanks for asking.

I would love to talk
about my movie.

It's called the Austin
and Ally story .

Roll the clip!

She was a boring, shy songwriter
with no real purpose.

Then he appeared... an incredibly
handsome, not boring rocker

with nothing but a
corn dog and a dream.

Oh, and also a totally
awesome best friend.

Oh, and I forgot, the shy
girl also had a friend.

She was lazy and rude.

She wrote, he rocked.

They loved.

I love you, Ally.

I love you, too, Austin.

Together, they made it.

Coming soon from the director
of claws dun dun dun .

Wow! Look how in
love you two were.

Such a tragedy.

Tell me about it.

I've been reworking the
ending of my movie for years

trying to make it
less depressing.

Oh, powerful stuff.

Stay tuned, after this commercial,
Ally's gonna perform a brand-new song.

I'm sorry, I-I can't do this.

Ally!

You should really have me
on your show more often.

We have great
on-screen chemistry.

Whoo!

Welcome back to my Austin
and Ally reunion special.

Which I guess is now just me...

And their weird friend.

Thanks, Helen. I would
love to show you

an exclusive interview with
the director of my movie,

the Austin and Ally story.

- Well, that's not what I...
- Roll the clip!

Welcome to Dez on Dez.

Hi, I'm Dez.

With me, I have Dez,
renowned director.

I gotta say, you're
looking good, Dez.

Thank you, Dez.

As are you.

It's an honor to be here.

Now tell me, at what point did you
first realize that you would become

one of the world's most prestigious
and respected directors?

From day one, really.

I even directed the
video of my own birth.

I saw that umbilical cord
and I yelled, "cut!"

Ally, wait.

Why did you do this?

I'm sorry.

I just miss you.

And Austin.

And even that red-headed doof.

I just wish things could go back
to the way they used to be.

I know.

I get it.

But I told you I wasn't ready to see
Austin, it's still too painful for me.

I'm sorry I tricked you, but
this is your big comeback,

you have to go out there
and sing your new song.

It's not actually a new song.

I lied when I said
the only songs I had

were about shower shoes
and lost luggage.

I wrote a bunch of other songs, too,
but they're all about me and Austin.

And there's no way I can go out
there and sing one on TV now,

especially not in front of him.

You can't just leave. You
have to sing something.

I mean, the luggage
song wasn't that bad.

Ally, we need to talk.

Ah, yeah.

Probably should.

And I probably should
give you some space.

More space than this?

Got it.

Well...

This isn't exactly how I
pictured seeing you again.

Me neither.

You look pretty.

Thanks.

You look pretty, too.

Thanks.

I've been using a new
all-natural moisturizer.

- I miss you.
- I miss you.

It's been weird not
having you around.

We used to share everything.

Well, at least I still
have your songbook.

It's almost like
having you with me.

You still keep it with you?

Always.

Look, I heard what you said to Trish
about not wanting to perform.

It's...

Hard to go out there
and perform...

Feeling the way I do right now.

You know, we always used to be able to lean
on each other to get through anything.

What if we sing
your song together?

As a duet?

Really?

Uh...

I think...

This one might be...

Good.

It's perfect.

Aww.

Still too close?

So then I, grabbed the umbrella,
and gave it back to that walrus.

Ha, ha, ha. Why are
you still here?

Hey.

Sorry to interrupt.

Oh, great, another
uninvited guest.

Do we have any
security here at all?

Anyone?

I just wanted to let everybody know
that Ally is ready to perform,

and Austin is gonna
perform with her.

Oh! That is amazing!

But you know, I like to introduce
the guests on my show.

- Oh, sorry.
- Yeah.

Ladies and gentlemen, on stage
for the first time in years,

- Austin and Ally!
- And Ally!

Ally, I still love you.

I never stopped loving you.

I never want to be
apart from you.

I want to be with
you, too, but how?

No matter how much
we love each other,

we always seem to be headed
in different directions.

Then...

Why don't we head in
the same direction?

We can write, record,
perform and tour together.

You mean like an official duo?

Yes.

What do you say?

Now this is what I
hoped would happen.

Man.

Now I have to change the
ending of my movie.

But it's so beautiful.

Ho, ho!

Auslly fans, rejoice!

Whoo!

Austin and Ally are
back together,

as a couple, and as an
official singing duo.

Whoo!

And Ally, thanks for making
it through the whole show

without destroying
my set this time.

Well, ha-ha...

Your new set does seem a lot
sturdier than the old one.

Aah!

Austin and Ally, everybody.

Whoo!

And people were so excited about
us getting back together,

that our appearance on the Helen
show actually got a billion hits.

After that, we went
on tour together,

and when we were in Paris your
father asked me to marry him.

Guess who made it to Miami!

Hey, go give a hug to your
aunt Trish and Uncle Dez.

- Aunt Trish!
- Uncle Dez!

We came straight from the set
of claws dun dun dun: Eight .

Okay, come on, kids.

The studio gave
us a private jet.

Trish is amazing in the movie.

I really think she's gonna
win a best actress award.

The four I've won are plenty.

Ah, who am I kidding?
I want five.

- Ah, there's my wife.
- Where?

I'm talking about you, Carrie.
You're my wife.

Phew. For a second I thought
you married someone else.

Where's Darrie?

He went away to college.
Didn't we tell you?

College? But he's six.

Ah, yeah. Our son is officially
the world's smartest kid.

The scientist guy said
darrie had a 300 q.I.

It's I.Q.

Spelling's not really my thing.

Point is, our kid's the best.

Not so fast, red.

With little touches of gray.

Hey, wifey-poo.

Hey, Chuck-a-licious.

Trish and I have the best kid,
and Princess Magnolia Rose

has the "little miss preschool
America pageant" trophy to prove it.

Guess who won "little
miss preschool."

It's so amazing to be back here.

Where it all began
for the four of us.

I am really glad we're
all here together.

No matter where our lives take us,
we'll always be best friends.

I love you guys.

Wow.

It's all still here.

It's like we never left.

Yeah.

Even the old piano.

Okay, we've got 18 hours to
write the greatest song ever.

Remember this one?
