Andromeda (2000–2005): Season 3, Episode 9 - And Your Heart Will Fly Away - full transcript

An unknown armored man appears on the command deck of the Andromeda and proceeds to engage Dylan in combat with a katana. After Dylan comes out on top, Tyr leaves in Harper's new and improved slipfighter without a word. The Andromeda encounters a kilometer-tall version of Dylan that opens fire on the ship, but when the Andromeda retaliates the giant replica vanishes. Dylan investigates who attacked him and whom Tyr left to find.

[DRAMATIC MUSIC PLAYING]

Finished. Done.

The new slipfighter's working
like a charm.
I only need 20 more minutes.

Yeah, you said that

Right, right. But that
was before I knew

I really only needed
20 more minutes.

Uh-huh. Mr. Harper,
bring it in.

But boss, this debris field,

it's a once-in-a-galaxy
opportunity,

to test the navigation sensors.

Mr. Harper, bring it in.

All right,

but we'll never know
whether or not
my new slipfighter

can dodge all that
space garbage.

Yeah.

I'm detecting an unacceptably
high rad temperature

inside my ramscoop.

More power
to the rad shields, please.

Uh...

Too late.

[MYSTICAL MUSIC PLAYING]

GENITE: Captain Dylan Hunt.

Beka! Look out!

[GROANING]

[FIRING]

[GASPING AND GRUNTING]

[CLANGING]

[CLANGING]

[SHATTERING]

You know...

You could have helped out.

You were doing pretty good.

Thanks.

What the hell was that?

I really have no idea,
and I don't want to find out.

My ramscoop must have captured
a micro satellite

along with
the usual space debris.

Andromeda, get us out of here.

Captain, the slipfighter
has launched.

Tyr just took off with
my brand-new slipfighter!

What?

Tyr, you picked a bad day
for a joyride.

He's gone to radio silence.

Oh, great.

Let's go get him.

Searching.

I'm picking up
eight departing slipfighters

every 45 degrees
on horizon level.

Eight?
Eight?

The slipfighter's
equipped with

new splinter
imaging technology,

multiple disguised footprints.

Sorry. Surprise!

I'm surprised.

Prior to his departure,
Tyr was in his quarters.

He had engaged
privacy mode.

Great. Andromeda,
override privacy mode.

I want to know
what Tyr was doing.

Hold on.

You can just override
privacy mode? Just like that?

Yeah. Andromeda's a warship.
We can't afford secrets.

Tyr was viewing
a hologram transmission

Delivered by the same microsat
that delivered your genite.

Well, play it.

Our feet will tread
these rocks.

Our hands will work this ice.

Oh, my.

DYLAN: The universe
is a dangerous place.

But in our future,

my crew and I fight
to make it safe.

I am Dylan Hunt,

Captain of the
Andromeda Ascendant,

and these are our adventures.

[THEME MUSIC PLAYING]

I found no trace
of the eight slipfighters,
or of Tyr.

[SIGHING] Keep looking
for anything.

The spheres are the remains
of an eidolon.

Eidolon?

It's a highly complex
and very cool structure

made of dark-matter particles.

These things working together
can simulate almost any image

of almost any size.

It hit pretty hard
for a simulant.

That's because it can
also simulate mass.

Dark matter, huh?

HARPER: Yeah.

I tried fiddling around with it
when I was a kid

using science kits,
but with no luck.

Andromeda, how did you
let this stuff get onboard?

Display.

There are thousands of vents
on this ship,

screened, of course,

but something split into
molecule-sized particles

can pass through.

Then reassemble
themselves later.

The bad news is,

my database comes up empty
on the composition of this.

So we don't know
where it came from?

Or where Tyr flew off to.

But we do have the message
from the mystery woman.

I've run a spectral analysis

on the scattered sunlight
and geological features.

There are a finite
number of planets

with rocky surfaces
and a breathable atmosphere

orbiting what appears to be
a class-B blue dwarf.

Define finite.

Approximately
43 million planets.

Any planets
with ties to Nietzscheans?

51,809...

So far.

I have no 100% match,

but I do have an 80% match
in the Melita system.

Andromeda, book us a flight.

Charting now.

What if Tyr doesn't
want to be found?

He's taken off before.

Yeah. It just
doesn't feel that way.

Right.

The genite warrior,
he addressed you.

Whoever's signaling Tyr

is trying to get
a message to you, too.

That's what
I'm worried about.

Finding Tyr looks like a trap
for the Andromeda.

ANDROMEDA: Captain, code blue.
Report to command.

Andromeda, what's up?

ANDROMEDA: On-screen.

[DRAMATIC MUSIC PLAYING]

Wow.

Object at a distance
of 12 kilometers and closing.

Dimensions.

ANDROMEDA: 700 meters
in length,150 wide,
75 meters deep.

Human proportions.

You're so big.

Or he is.

Move to intercept.

ANDROMEDA: Spectral
analysis incoming.

It's an eidolon.

Activate defense systems.

Maneuvering.

[EXPLOSIONS]

Prepare to fire...

On me.

Firing.

[EXPLOSION]

You know, someone is going
to great and obvious lengths

to make a point.

Oh, I get the point...

And I get the message.

Someone wants us to go
in a different direction.

By diverting
to intercept the eidolon,

we have changed course.

Currently, we are headed away
from the Melita system,

and toward a place
called Elba Nine.

Someone or something
telling us to go there.

Tell you what.

Let's go to Elba Nine.

Cool.

[DRAMATIC MUSIC PLAYING]

[ALARM BEEPING]

Searching for Elba Nine.

Andromeda, data
is still dropping out.

We've got bugs in the system.

I am unable to contain the
billions of eidolon particles

that made up
the genite and the microsat.

They have infected
my guidance system,

which is why all data
is suspect.

I have a virus.

Who is doing this?

That would be me.

Is this another eidolon?

No. In fact...

My name is Naz.

Bartolome Naz.

A small ship docked during our
fight with the giant eidolon.

It was undetected.

Because of the infection
I introduced to your system.

A childishly simple design,
but surprisingly effective.

Captain Hunt,

you need to update
your defense systems.

Shall I remove him
from the deck?

I don't think
you want to do that.

I know where
Tyr Anasazi has gone,

and I know why.

I'm listening.

[GASPING AND GRUNTING]

Tyr Anasazi...

After all this time.

Checking all
available databases
for Bartolome Naz.

All I see is a Bartolome Naz
who was a forward striker

for the Talos Two
springball team.

He led the Talons in assists
for two seasons in a row.

He's corrupted the database.

Oh, yeah.

Allow me an explanation.

I design weapons.

Everything from molecular
machines like eidolon particles,

right up to things
like your floating image.

Tell me where
my crew member is.

Permit me to show you something.

Desiree d'Lene,

the most beautiful woman
in the galaxy.

She was brilliant,
she was witty,

she was sensuous,

she was the love of my life...

Until she wasn't.

She grew tired of me.

We all have
broken heart stories.

Why don't you
get to the point?

When I lost Desiree,
I lost all self-control.

My defenses crumbled.

I raged.

If I couldn't have Desiree,
then no one would...

So...

I hired someone to kill her...

But it didn't turn out that way.

Yeah,

I guess that'd be
my first choice
if I was getting dumped,

Hire a Nietzschean hit man.

For several years,

I believed that Tyr
had accomplished his mission,

that Desiree was indeed dead.

I mourned seriously.

A broken heart.

And then,

I discovered
this strange message.

Our feet will tread
these rocks.

Our hands
will work this ice.

I conducted
my own fruitless search,

then realized there was one man
who knew where she was.

Tyr.
Tyr.

He was supposed to kill her.
Instead, hid her...

Apparently, on the prison planet

Elba Nine.

Now, anyone can get
onto this planet,

but just try to get off.

That's when the surprises start.

Surprises I designed.

Successful escape
is theoretically impossible.

What are you doing here?

I want to get Desiree back
and you want to get Tyr back.

The Andromeda is the only thing
that would give us chance

of accomplishing that,

so I sent your image, Captain,
drifting in space.

And you followed.

You know, it's funny.

I wasn't aware
that we were for hire,

or at your disposal, Mr. Naz.

We are approaching
Elba Nine's
southern hemisphere.

I'm detecting an anomaly
in orbit.

Watch him.

Apparently,
a maneuverable one.

It's intercepting us.

One of my surprises.

Magnify.

Five kilometers in diameter
across its longitudinal axis,

three to four kilometers
latitudinally.

It's a weapons platform.

[FIRING]

It's firing.

Andromeda, reroute.

Activate point-defense systems.
Let's zigzag.

I don't want to give this thing
an easy target.

BEKA: Is this another one
of your eidolons?

It's an attrox.

It's an
automated sentry,

An asteroid modified
to serve as a fortress moon.

There are no records of
an attrox actually being built.

This one was...

By me.

Then you must know
how to beat it.

Unfortunately,
it can't be beaten,

but I'm betting
that you can handle it.

ANDROMEDA: It's firing.

[EXPLOSIONS]

All right.

Let's see if we can
make this thing chase us.

Beka, take us
into slipstream.

That should do some damage.

Aye, aye.

TYR: Medea, wait!

Don't ever call me that.

It's your name.

What are you doing here?

Finishing the job?

Don't be ridiculous.

I haven't seen Bartolome
in years.

Our feet will tread these rocks.

Our hands will work this ice.

Our eyes will search
the night and-

You loved me, Tyr!
Then you left.

And you know
I had no choice.

What choice did I have?

I left you in the one place
Bartolome wouldn't look.

Hidden from everyone!
Why, Tyr? Why?

You know why!

You're still perfect.

All your strength
and fire

still greets me there
in your eyes...

[INHALING DEEPLY]

In your smell...

The magnificent beat
of your heart.

You're perfect, Medea.

It is my curse.

[SOFT MUSIC PLAYING]

[STRUGGLING]

Your... Your boneblades.

Or lack thereof.

All that mocking you did.

You're just like me.

No.

No, I'm not like you.

[SWISHING]

We lost it,

but you know,
for a while there,

I had this weird feeling
that I was being followed.

The attrox is following us.

Incoming.

[EXPLOSIONS]

Beka, evasive maneuvers.

You're surprised that the attrox
can navigate slipstream?

Well, it has a brain,
human emotions, mine.

That's impossible.

At the end of the day,

slipstream navigation
is based on the will to live.

Look at the attrox
and understand me.

I've never been chased
by a fortress moon before.

[EXPLOSIONS]

[ALARMS BEEPING]

I'm not going to like it.

Now what?

We can't beat it,
can't outrun it,
but we can hide from it.

Beka, get us as close
to Elba Nine as you can.

We can put Andromeda
in a tight circular orbit

below the attrox
and out of its range.

For a while.

[EXPLOSIONS]

It'll give us time to launch
the Maru and find Tyr.

Orbit confirmed.

Good. Beka, grab Harper.

DYLAN: Go get Tyr.

You won't have much time.

Three hours
would be my estimation.

I'm well aware
of that, Mr. Naz.

After that, there won't be
an Andromeda to come back to.

Hold your cookies.

Hang on.

Elba Nine's got
one hell of a jet stream.

High winds, radiation...

I think we're flying over
a range of active volcanoes.

Something tells me
this is the easy stuff.

Each morning
I'd wake in hope,

only to live each day
in that fear.

You've kept everything
just the same.

Is that what you think?

[CHUCKLES]

What about Bartolome?

What about him?

I haven't seen or heard
from him in years.

Your message
is what brought me.

You...

Standing there
outside the house.

[SIGHING]

Yes, I sent you a message

When I scrounged
communication gear

from a crashed freighter.

But everything changed
in that year.

I changed.

I survived.

I prospered.

I didn't expect to show up
and find you dead, Medea.

You knew I would come back.

That was my only fear.

[ALARM SOUNDING]

What is that?

My alarm system.

Visitors.

There's two of them.

TYR: Who else would live
in this wasteland?

No one.
Naz made sure of that.

Whoever they are
followed you.

If there are two,
we should split up.

Man, I can't imagine
being dumped here,

and surviving.

Really?

I always figured I'd retire
to a place like this.

Oh yeah?

Sure, radiation, snowstorms,

the decimation of
pretty much all life,

yeah, it'd be
perfect for you.

There it is.

I'm going to go straight.

You go around the back.

Just give me
a couple seconds lead.

Hey, she's supposed to
be desirable, not deadly...

Not that there's
necessarily a difference.

Tyr!

Was that you?
Did you just shoot at me?

You'll never know.

Hold it!

Miss d'Lene, I presume.

TYR: Beka!

This is practically
impossible.

I didn't leave a trail,

and Elba Nine
isn't the sort of place

you just find.

We had help from
an old friend of yours,

Bartolome Naz.

Bartolome?

Tyr...

Where is he?

Aboard the Andromeda
right now.

But don't worry.
He's under control.

Wishful thinking.

Did Naz inform you
of my original mission?

Yes, kill her.

And still you
brought him here?

We thought
we were rescuing you.

Did I ask for your help?

Hey, I was against it.

And now
it gets complicated.

Mm?

Look at him.

He actually cares
what she thinks.

HARPER: Oh yeah.

You ever seen Tyr
like that before?

Yeah.

They're not enemies...

They're lovers.

We found them,
so now what?

Report on Tyr's condition.

He's in love again.

He's with Desiree.

Um...

Bring them up.

We're running out of time.

ANDROMEDA: Dylan,
I have completed

the analysis of Naz's
medical condition.

It's myasthenia gravis.

It's easily treatable.
He chooses not to walk.

DYLAN: It feeds his hatred.

[HIGH PITCHED WHINING]

It will be good
to see you again,

Tyr Anasazi.

How was your trip
to Elba Nine?

Stupid.

Not on my list
of vacation spots.

We saw one good thing.

We met the local.

I missed you, however.

TYR: This is the Andromeda.

It's nothing like
you're used to, I'm sure.

Listen, I've been meaning
to tell you that...

[HIGH PITCHED WHINING]

[FIRING]

[HEAVY FIRING]

You're as impetuous
as I remember.

You owe me a death.

Suppose I let you live,
and we call it even?

[SCOFFS]

Why don't you just shoot?

Drop it.

Now, she'll shoot you.

HUNT: Mr. Harper,

accompany Mr. Naz
to the brig.

Tyr, take Desiree
to her quarters, please.

Desiree...

All right...

Move it.

They're not acting
like lovers now.

I think they're acting
just like lovers.

Medea!

Desiree.

Believe me,

I had no idea Naz was within
three galaxies of here.

We all do things
in this life to survive,

Things for money.

And I always knew
you were a mercenary,

But I never thought
you'd stoop so low

as to pick up
this payment.

Are you
out of your mind?

You had me, Tyr.
I was yours.

Why are you running
from me?

Why are you pursuing?

Do you think we would pick up
where we'd left off?

Yes.

It's too late, Tyr.

Untested love
is ultimately worthless.

Untest...

Medea...

I am here.

I came for you.

There are your quarters.

My love was tested!

Andromeda, put up
a spatial graphics

of the attrox's
primary weapons, please.

Well, Naz is on ice,

and Trance is
keeping him company,

so he can't pull any more
of those fancy tricks
out of his magic chair.

Which raises
the next question.

What are we going to do
with Desiree?

I've got
a few ideas.

And Naz,
for that matter.

Well, Naz can be packed
into his ship and sent home,

But I don't think Desiree
wants to go along.

Right now,

she doesn't exactly
want to stay with Tyr, either.

More of your
lover's intuition?

What's that
supposed to mean?

It's not a decision
we have to make this moment.

First, we've got to deal
with the attrox.

Rommie, how much time
before target lock?

85 minutes.

85 minutes?

85 minutes
to solve a problem

even the greatest
military minds

of an entire era
couldn't solve.

Piece of cake.

We're dead.

Let's hope not.

I thought
you once told me

that you could never be
with a human woman,

Never, ever
in a million years?

I did say that once...

To you.

That's it.

The eidolons,

we could synthesize
and program them ourselves.

Make our own eidolon?

Bartolome could do it.

Yeah, if you trust him to help.

I trust him to want to live.

Mr. Anasazi.

You're needed.

I'm aware.
I heard everything.

The question is,

why should I help?

You heard the captain.
You know why.

Because you want to live.

You're making a big assumption.

I've made fortunes
and lost them,

given and taken life,
and I'm still...

Alone.

I'm sorry.

Now, are you going
to assist us or not?

You've always resented me,

You,

who are merely
a failed killing machine.

What do you want?

From you, an explanation.

Why didn't you kill Desiree?

And how could you abandon her
on Elba Nine?

Yes or no?

It'd probably be safer for you
to stay in your quarters.

It would have been safer for me
on the planet,

but you eliminated
that option.

Yeah, well, we'll stick you
back there soon enough,

as soon as we untangled
your history with Naz and Tyr.

And anyone else
who loves you,

and is trying
to kill you.

Oh, it is my curse...

To be all things to all men.

My heart's breaking.

Bartolome...

I was troubled
when I met him.

In need.

He changed my life,
and I mistook
gratitude for love.

And that feeling
quickly turned to hate...

And then there's Tyr.

The very exciting
Tyr Anasazi...

My savior.

Two relationships,
two failures.

Yeah, well,

we've all had
those kind of failures.

No woman can be all things
to all men.

[CHUCKLING]

No human woman.

I need a timing
on acquiring the attrox.

Or vice versa.
14 minutes.

We're ready.

The slipfighter is painted.

[EXPLOSION]

A ranging shot from the attrox.
It knows we're coming.

[ALARM SOUNDING]

Mr. Harper,
we are on the clock.

I'm shaking it, boss.

Hey! I've got to say this
for your stuff, Naz,

it goes on smooth.

And this is going to be one
of my greatest works so far.

All right. We'll fly this thing
by remote, yes?

Desiree.

Look out.
She's an eidolon!

[FIRING]

Maybe not.

Blood.

ANDROMEDA: Five minutes.

We have to get her stabilized.
She has to live.

That will probably be left
to a higher source than you.

That'll makes the odds
much better.

[EXPLOSION] [ALARM BEEPING]

ANDROMEDA: Four minutes.

DYLAN: Beka, Tyr, to command.

If you could get
out of that chair,

could you also
let her go?

The one has nothing to do
with the other.

I suppose you should know.

Two minutes until target lock.

I never thought I'd see
an ugly moon-rise.

Mr. Harper,
launch the slipfighter

when Tyr is ready.

She's away.

Let's try to keep
from being hit, okay?

It's tracking every movement.

[EXPLOSIONS]

It's also ignoring
the slipfighter.

Good.

I want the slipfighter
to get behind the attrox...

[EXPLOSIONS]

Get it in closer.

Give the attrox
a bigger target.

It's bracketing us.

A few more moments.

A little more time.

[EXPLOSIONS]

I'm clear.

Mr. Harper.

Please work.

[WHIRRING]

[DRAMATIC MUSIC PLAYING]

I love my Seamus.

[EXPLOSIONS]

Tyr, you may fire when ready.

[FIRING]

[EXPLOSIONS]

All right, now it's our turn.

Full reverse power?

No. Get in that thing's wake.

We're not running,
we're taking it out.

All right, it's got
the slipfighter in its sights.

Harper, showtime.

My pleasure.

[WHIRRING]

[EXPLOSIONS]

It's blinded.

Hit that everything
with everything we have.

[RAPID FIRING]

[EXPLOSIONS]

[ALARMS BEEPING] [RUMBLING]

We have destroyed the attrox.

[EXHALING] Good work, people.

Good work.

You're leaving with her.

I don't know.

You've spent
your entire life

trying to control
everything and everybody.

You're going to let her go, Naz.

Looking at her lying there...

For the first time,
I wanted to design something

that would save a life.

Here's your chance
to do just that.

I'm glad to see
you're back with us.

Captain,

I want to thank you.

That's not necessary.

Maybe it's five years
on Elba Nine showing.

Not saying anything to anyone.

But it was an environment

that cultivated me
to be realistic.

I'm amazed you survived.

It is harsh,

but it had its own beauty.

Surviving
difficult situations...

Can give one perspective.

Yes.

It reminds us
what's important in life.

Health, choice...

Love.

Love...

Mr. Naz has something
to say to you.

Time to lower my defenses
as well.

ANDROMEDA: Medical
program completed.

All tissue
and nerves regenerated.

Go.

Follow your heart.

You'll always have mine.

You can leave your beloved Elba
whenever you wish.

You're free.

I always was free.

[SOFT MUSIC PLAYING]

TYR: You and I...

After all we've
been through,

I would say we are
the greatest of survivors.

And we will survive longest
if no one knows.

No, we will
survive longest

if you and I
make babies.

We can live here, Medea.
I don't care anymore.

And if Niobe,
our matriarch,
were alive,

she'd arrange it,
but she is dead,

Just like every other Kodiak
we've known...

Because every other pride
wants the Kodiak dead...

And I no longer
want to live my life
on the run,

not even
with you, Tyr.

I know how this
must hurt you.

I will never call you
Desiree d'Lene.

That's just a human name.

Something for the clients.

I had to make my way.

You are Medea Cymri,

out of Isabella
by Zarathustra...

And I will always want you

in the way that I did,

from the first day
I saw you playing
outside your father's house.

Our feet will tread these rocks.

Our hands will work this ice.

Our eyes will search the night.

And our heart will fly away.

Medea, please?

I am not waiting here

alone for you.

I choose no longer
to wait for the future,

for I am in my happiness.

But...

Go.

[SOFT MUSIC PLAYING]

The sky is falling.

[THEME MUSIC PLAYING]
