It tends to get boring,

My first memories in life

really are watching

I am a female daredevil.

I come from a long line
of daredevils.

remember my dad, Bello Nock.

I decided I want to do
something bigger and better.

What's your father's advice?

I mean, he doesn't really
have a right

Because growing up
in an industry

nobody is allowed
to go in that box

except AP,
who's the one with the hat.

And he'll determine
when it's safe to go.

You wanna stay away
from the blast radius.

That's what we have the
distance for--

table of distance.

So we'll stay within
those tables of distances,

and we'll be safe.

I understand

that those six sticks
of dynamite

can obliterate
13,000 pounds of rock.

Why would anyone
in their right mind do this?

I'd be a little crazy
to not be scared of this act.

With an explosion this size,

any number of things
could go wrong.

The stress that
this explosion

will put on my body is insane.

I was raised
in Dominican Republic

till I was four years old,

so when I came here,

I didn't know a word
of English.

Really?

And I got bullied a lot,
so, um...

gave me "tough skin."

I just wanna ask a question.

And I do hear this a lot,
unfortunately.

You got bullied.

What got you through
that whole period?

I think it was really music

and my mom.

My family immigrated
to the United States

from Dominican Republic.

My mom and dad really
wanted to, like,

build a better life--
a life that was stable.

[speaking Spanish]

When I came here,
it was really hard in school.

I didn't look
like everybody else,

you know,
I didn't speak the language.

I got made fun of a lot.

People would just be like,
"Oh, no, get out of here,"

like, "We don't
want you here."

That really hurt.

I was really scared
to, like, let people in.

It made me not wanna show
people who I was.

When I found music,

it was kind of like
this escape from all of it,

and it just kind of took over,
and that's--and that's--

that was the way that
I expressed myself.

I kept my singing private,

'cause I was really
embarrassed by it.

I was not confident
in myself at all.

But one time, my mom heard me,
like, in the bathroom,

just singing my heart out,
and she was like,

"You need to keep this going."

My mom is always there for me
whenever I need her.

She inspired me
to, you know,

not be ashamed of who I am.
[whispers indistinctly]

This opportunity is so big,

because I never
in a million years

thought I would ever be
on "America's Got Talent."

And my mom always told me,
