Ramallah, Palestinian authority's west border

There is always risk everywhere,

you go out and you don't know
if you will come home alive.

I love freedom, as every human being.

If you take a bird
and you put it in a cage,

the bird will want to go
out of the cage.

- Do you live here in Ramallah?
- No, we're from Jerusalem.

But now we're in Bir Zeit
because we are studying here.

And what are you doing today in Ramallah?

We just came to eat lunch.
Then we go home-

Arafat's headquarters

"...you are the proud lion, the defender of the honour

that fights the enemy warriors
and burns their hearts.

The names of those who die for their country...

-... are written in history".
- Do you want coffee? Tea?

Israel's people safety minister

- What shop is this?
- A flowers shop.

As you can see, it's empty.

They're closing the checkpoints.
We don't know how to come in and come out.

They say we can only bring food and yoghurth.

Can we live only with food and yoghurth? And bread?

We want to bring flowers,
live our life.

I'll take this.

Israel's prime minister, 1996-99

... Israel might consider
the possibility of him coming back here

in case that when he's away

there will be terroristic acts.

Palestinian authority's information minister

You are the ones who own your country,

you came here to Beirouth,

you will discuss,
and I hope you will not forget

this war started against us.60

They came to our land.

They occupied our land.

Now they bomb us from the planes,

they shoot with tanks and rockets.

So we have the right to defend ourselves.

Hamas delegate

and we are with him.

With him against Israel.

We are all willing
to die as martyrs

Fight. Fight.

Holy war. Holy war.

Ramallah's refugees camp

How is it to stay here?
I prefer not to talk.

The way we are forced to live.

We are here in Al Amaari,
We live in Al Amaari

since Israeli's invasion ruined us,

preventing us from making our life better.

Sharon did unjust things to us.

What does Sharon want from us,
that dog? That animal.

He destroyed our lives,
our houses.

They took our gold, destroyed our
furnitures, our cars,

they destroyed our houses while
we were inside.

What do they want from us?
Is there anything worst?

We want to start to live again.

Our husbands can't go to work.
They can't move.

We cannot live like this.

No arab country cares about us.

They just don't care.

Our children, what will their life be?

Our new generals:

our sons, our puppies,
our flowers.

I call them
"our new generals".

Never stop explaining what's happening here.

and moral rights of both parts.

All this is very french,
very pascalian.

Like Don Quixote, no?

Nobody's trembling.
Nobody is scared.

Nobody is retreating.

We will go to Jerusalem,
we will be millions of martyrs.

The battle continued throud the
whole day inside and outside

Arafat's headquarters in Ramallah.

For 12 hours
under a non stop bombing.

They resisted to attacks
of planes and tanks

using all the light weapons they had,

until they finished their ammunitions.

Access to ambulances was denied,

and the same for firemen.

Israeli soldier entered the headquarters

A black friday for the palestinian government.

Abu Ammar, during this siege,

what is your message to the people?

These peole can bear, they have patience

despite this racism, this terrorism

despite this enemy with american weapons.

And I tell to this people:
we are united,

until one our puppies or our flowers

will wave the palestinian flag
over Jerusalem.

over Jerusalem's mosques.
And over Jerusalme's churches.

Sine this morning, in Ramallah ,

a six floors building is in fire.

Israel's rockets were fired over a building with offices

in the southern part of Ramallah ,

30 palestinians were inside.

They surrendered and the soldiers ordered

to raise their clothes .

About 26 people were arrested.

They searched us and beat us.

They destryed computers and books.

They beat you, destroy your computers, and now they arrest you.

- Why?
- Without reason.

The order was to consider Ramallah
as a war zone,

with no access for journalists.

After the intervention of many countries,

after life's conditions got worst,

the citizens were allowed
to go out for two hours

to get essential things.

But the roads, that the people
could see again after days,

had been devastated by tanks

that destroyed the head office

and dozens of malls.
