(opening music)

(crickets chirping)

(Kyle breathing heavily)

(hazard lights tick)

(eerie music)

[Kyle] I'm so fucking-

[Kyle's Mom] Hello?

Hello?

Is that you, Kyle?

Hello?

Put Cassie on the phone.

Cassie's gone.

[Kyle's Mom] What do
you mean she's gone?

She's dead.

Cassie.

Cassie and the kids are dead.

- Oh Kyle!
- They're dead.

[Kyle's Mom] What have you done?

I didn't do anything!

I didn't do anything. (sobs)

It was them.

It was who?

These things, fucking creatures.

They broke in and they butchered
them

when we fight with it.

And then it won't step
inside they'll kill me too.

Everywhere I turn, they're
there.

They only seem to come
at night, except this.

This one.

The old woman.

She seems to be out
even when it's daylight

like she doesn't got any sleep.

[Kyle's Mom] You need to
turn yourself into the police.

I can't.

[Kyle's Mom] Come home then.

Your father and I, we can help
you.

I can't.

[Kyle's Mom] Why?

Because she will find me.

And they'll kill you too.

Just like they killed Cassie.

Just like they killed Cassie.

[Kyle's Mom] Kyle, you're
scaring me.

(Kyle gasps)

I have to go.

I need to find somewhere to lay
low.

[Kyle's Mom] No. Kyle please
just-

I love you.

(Kyle weeps)

(eerie music intensifies)

(car door opens)

(footsteps recedes)

(door thuds)

[Guard 1] Anyone in here?

(walkie talkie crackles)

[Guard 2] What was that noise
there?

That was nothing.

It was just one of the doors
hadn't been secured properly.

[Guard 2] Okay. Well secure
it and get back to your post.

[Guard 1] Will do.

(footsteps approaches)

(metal thuds)

(footsteps gets faster)

(door opens)

(eerie music intensifies)

(stabs)

(footsteps approaches)

(chain clanks)

(continuous stabs)

(car door closes)

(car engine revving)

(screams)

(eerie music intensifies)

(woman typing)

That's all the invoices you
asked for.

I can put them in date order if
you want.

No, it's fine. They'll
get out of order anyway

once I've been through them.

Did you manage to get through to
Carter's?

I left a message for his
secretary.

Donalds apparently has
been in a meeting all day.

Yeah, I bet he has.

Listen, If you haven't
heard from him by Monday,

I want you to call and refuse to
hang-up

until he talks to you.

And if they hang up?

Then you need to call back,

and keep calling until he takes
the call.

[Hannah] Okay.

Do you need anything else from
me?

No, you're all right. Get
yourself home.

(phone rings)

Hello, Gulliver's.

Oh, hello.

Yeah she is.

I'll just transfer you.

It's Greg.

Oh shit. I'm supposed to be
going after dinner with him.

Hi darling.

Yeah. We're all fine.

Sorry, I'm just fighting a
losing battle.

Bye.

I'm sorry, I'm not gonna be able
to

come up to dinner tonight.

I really hate to do this to you.

[Greg] I knew this was gonna
happen.

This why I bought dinner to you.

(Amanda chuckles)

Chinese?

Thank you.

You see, this is why I married
you.

You married me because
I bring you Chinese food?

Yep. That's the sole reason.

[Greg] Fair enough.

I don't have any plates though.

So we'll have to eat out of the
boxes.

But I do have these little
plastic forks,

so every cloud-

So what've you got left to do?

Anything I could help at?

Oh, I've just got few
emails to send out tonight.

Them I think I'm done for today,
at least.

How's Karli?

Yeah, she's fine.

On the sofa. Cuddled up under
a duvet, watching the movie.

Has she done her homework?

Or so she says.

Did you check?

[Greg] Nope.

You have to check.

What she says and what she does

are two completely different
things

I gave her benefit of the doubt.

Besides, today has been a good
day.

No mood swings, no shouting, no
fight.

She's in a happy mood.

I didn't want to tempt fate

by demanding evidence for doing
homework.

Okay I suppose,

she do any of her chores?

No.

[Amanda] Great, so, I'm
going back to the house

to a sink full of dirty dishes
and then to wash them today?

Nope. I did it.

You didn't.

[Greg] I've done.

What would you do without me?

(metal clanks)

[Amanda] Did you hear that?

[Greg] Wait here.

[Amanda] What about Karli?

[Greg] Oh, don't wake
her. It'll be nothing.

If you hear me shouting, call
the police.

(eerie music)

(growls)

(stones clanking)

[Greg] Hey!

What the fuck are you doing in
my house?

Put my shit down and get the
fuck out!

(blood flows)

(dog barks)

(wardrobe opens)

[Amanda] Karli!

(knocks on door)

[Amanda] Karli, are you home?

(car unlocks)

Where the hell've you been?

Kelly's.

I thought you said
your goodbyes yesterday.

Well, we need to go now so
hurry up and get your stuff.

The movers will have to
get the rest tomorrow.

Goodbye isn't as easy for some
of us.

(car trunk slams)

You sure it was left
handed or right handed Karli?

I don't know.

Well now, you're look in
at a map or something.

No, I thought you were.

[Amanda] I'm try in to
concentrate on the road.

Can you look out for a sign?

What's this coming up here?

[Karli] Bee Cottage.

[Amanda] That's it. We're
here.

Oh no. She's waiting
for us and we are late.

(car door opens)

(eerie music intensifies)

Karli!

(water flowing)

[Amanda] Karli!

Karli!

(door opens)

What?

[Amanda] I'm cooking dinner out.

Okay. Be there in a minute.

Can't even have five minutes.

Hey.

It's our first dinner here.

That reminds me.

I need to go to tax office
first thing in the morning.

Register myself as the new
proprietor.

I mean, the last thing we need

is the tax man breathing down
our neck.

Before we even settled in.

Oh, and the other few wanted to
look at,

is previous owners' prices,

I mean I think they could've
been charging

lot more per night?

I mean, the views are amazing.

And I've read on the internet

and that's low to other
places near here the-

Mum. Can we just, please.

What?

Just stop with all the
"happy families'" bullshit.

Language, Karli.

I'm seventeen.

- [Amanda] Teen.
- Not a child.

[Amanda] Seventeen.

Still a teenager and
I'm still your mother.

And you show me some respect.

Father would never let
you speak to me like this.

My father wouldn't have
dragged me

halfway across the
country against my wishes.

He definitely would've stopped
me from going to university.

Not this again.

Do we have to keep going
over and over this?

[Karli] I'm my own person.

I need to make make my
own decisions in life.

I'm not here just to keep
you company, you know.

I never said you were.

I just asked you to take
a sabbatical, a year out.

And then you can do
what the hell you like.

I just need your help. That's
all.

It's not my help you need.

I'm going to bed.

What about your food?

[Karli] Lost my appetite.

(footsteps recedes)

(gulps water)

(door closes)

(birds chirping)

(dramatic music)

(water splashes)

Kelly? Ke-

Can you hear me?

Not a ca-

One second, I'll put you in
speaker.

(speaker static)

Can you say you hear me?

[Kelly] Yes. I can hear you.

Hey.

Sorry I didn't call last night.

The house is in the middle of
nowhere

and I've only just managed to
find a place

I can actually get some
reception.

[Kelly] It's fine. How are
you?

I'm okay.

Well, not okay, really.

I'm gonna sound silly, but,

I miss you.

[Kelly] You don't sound silly
but,

it's only been one day.

Yeah. I know.

It's only been a day but,

I don't wanna be here.

I wanna be back there.

With you
- [Kelly] I know.

Did you manage to talk
to your mum about us?

No I'm, not yet.

But I will. Promise.

We've barely spoken to each
other.

Really, it's just been arguing.

[Kelly] What about?

The usual.

Her fucking drinking, being
controlling, list goes on.

You know, she wants me to
stay with her for a year.

And then she'll give me her
blessing to get on with my life.

Like I should be fucking
grateful.

(ominous music)

[Kelly] Karli?

I'm really sorry.

It's gonna sound rude but,
can't we bat tomorrow?

My lift's here.

Yeah, of course, I'm-

If you can get through.
Where you going though?

[Kelly] Just doin some shop pin,

then goin out for a few drinks
later.

Oh. Okay.

[Kelly] I'll tell you
all about it tomorrow.

Be there and love you.

(vacuum cleaner whirring)

Karli.

Karli.

Where've you been?

Out for a walk.

Is everything all right?

Terrific, mum.
Everything's just terrific.

Karli.

What?

I need to talk to you.

I think you've said everything
already.

Please.

What?

I didn't sleep all well last
night.

I was awake thinking.

About what?

About you.

And me.

And this place.

I know you think I've been
selfish-

You have.

Please let me finish.

I know you think I've been
selfish.

I get it.

To be honest, in certain
circumstances, I have.

But since your dad-

You are all that I have left in
the world.

I'm so scared about being on my
own.

And I'd thought buying this
place was such an opportunity.

You know, chance for a new
beginning. Just you and me.

I've realized that, that
was was my dream, not yours.

And I can't expect you
to sacrifice your dream

so I can live out mine.

So, what I'm saying is, if
you wanna go to university,

you have my blessing.

Are you being serious?

[Amanda] Absolutely.

You should enroll now
and start when term does.

I've just got one favor to ask.

What?

Until you go, would you help me?

I really need your help.

I know I've run my business
before but,

this is so different.

Okay.

[Amanda] I'm gonna take a drive,

turn in front of supermarket.

Can I get you anything?

Get me a magazine or
something. To keep me occupied.

Anything in particular?

I don't know. You can choose.

All right. Well, try
not to be normal, okay?

I'll be fine.

(door opens)

(lighter clicks)

Hello.

Hi, sorry to bother you so late.

Is the owner around?

I'm sorry she's not.

I'm her daughter. Can I help
you?

Maybe you can.

A guy's happy to rent
a room for the night.

That is if you have any
vacancies, of course.

I'm sorry that we aren't
actually open for business yet.

Are you closed for
the season or something?

We just moved in.

I think it'll be a couple
weeks before ready for guests.

Shit. It's just my luck.

The thing is that, I've
just broken down and,

as you're aware, there's
nothing around for miles.

I can't even get a reception
to call the breakdown service.

Yeah, it's pretty bad
getting a signal out here.

Tell me about it.

I've walked a mile in this rain

just to try and find
some way to make a call.

I came across this place.

My prayers have been answered.

I'm sorry, but-

Listen. Do you think I
can stay for just one night?

I have cash. I can pay
double the room rate.

Just so that I thought back
it's been a night in my car.

Especially in this weather.

Look, I can't.

Please.

I'll give you a healthy tip too.

My mum will be back soon.
Maybe you can ask her.

Look, how much is your room
rate?

I'm not sure. About 60?

How about I give you 120 for
the room?

Double the rate.

Now, you can tell your mum I
paid that

or you can tell her I paid
you sixty and keep the rest.

I won't say a thing. It'll
be between me and you.

I'm not sure.

I just want to get dry
and put my head on a pillow.

I'll be gone first thing.

Please.

Thank you.

Thank you so much.

You're a lifesaver.

Name's Kyle.

[Karli] Karli.

[Kyle] I'm really
grateful for this Karli.

[Karli] Can you sign in here?

[Kyle] Sure thing.

180 pounds. Here you go.

That's too much. You said 120.

I just wanna show you my
appreciation. A little bonus.

Are you sure?

Of course I'm sure.

Thank you.

You're welcome.

(door squeaks)

[Kyle] Fantastic.

If you just write down "hotel
room",

paid 180 pounds and sign at the
bottom

that'll get accounts
department off my back.

Okay.

(tears receipt)

Thank you very much.

Which room is mine for the
night?

Well, you have your pick,

as you are our only guest.

Well, in that case I think
I need top floor please.

Right this way.

(door opens)

Very nice.

I'll put breakfast down for you

in the dining room tomorrow
morning.

I was hoping to be out early.

Well, I'll put out, just inn
case.

For the money you've
paid, the least I could do

is give you a decent meal.

That's very kind of you.

Oh, I guess I'll (indistinct)

Thank you.

Good Night.

(dramatic music)

Hey I'm gonna need a hand with
this.

There's more in the car.

Mum.

I've got you a novel.
Best seller apparently.

Mum.

[Amanda] What?

Don't be mad.

What's happened? What've you
done?

A man came to the house.

Man? What did he want?

A room. His car broken
down and he was stuck.

Oh please tell me you didn't
let him in Karli, please.

He had nowhere else to go.
He was soaking wet through.

Are you crazy?

This is a guest house.

I couldn't just let him
stay out in the rain.

I know but didn't register
this a new business yet.

We're not ready.

It's just one night.

He's paid for the room and I
haven't heard from him since.

I think he went straight to
sleep.

I've only been gone an hour.

Mum.

Okay. I suppose it
won't hurt for one night.

What room did you put him in?

Room one.

I told him I'd have breakfast
ready in the morning,

but he said he'd be out early.

Okay. Can you help me?

(footsteps approaching)

Hey. You're up bright and
early.

Well, I promised our guest
the breakfast would be ready.

He's still in his room.

All looks great.

Didn't you hear something
strange last night did you?

Like what?

I don't know. Someone
walking about or something?

No. But that was probably

just Kyle looking for the
bathroom.

You're gonna have to get used
to people walking about, Mum.

Kyle. Is that his name?

It's what he told me.

All done.

Hope he eats it before he
goes. Otherwise we'll have to.

You'll hear no complaints from
me.

Where you going?

Gonna see if I can get some
reception.

Need to call Kelly before
she sets off to work.

You can't leave me on my own.

What if he comes down
and wants to talk to me?

You'll be fine.

(cupboard opens)

(cupboard closes)

(Amanda gasps)

Oh Christ.

Kyle. Actually.

Sorry if I startled you.

It's fine.

I just didn't hear you
come in, that's all.

You must be the owner, and
Karli's mum?

Yes. Amanda. Nice to meet you.

It's a lovely place
you have here Amanda.

Very cozy and homely.

Thank you.

So, did you sleep well?

I did.

I had a little trouble
locating the bathroom

in the middle of the night but,

Karli must have forgotten to
show me.

Other than that, everything as
perfect.

Good.

I believe I'm your, first ever
customer?

Yes, actually you are.

We're not really ready to be
open yet but,

Karli explained the
situation with your car.

Car?

Yes.

Broken down and you couldn't

get a hold of the breakdown
service.

I don't know, must be a mix up.

I don't drive, let alone own a
car.

Now I've seen this place before

but I've never stayed here.

So I decided I need a break from
work

and I jumped on the train
to get away for a few days.

Few days?

Yeah.

Karli was adamant that you
were just staying for one night

and you were leaving this
morning.

How peculiar? I've
paid for three nights.

But Karli wouldn't have got
something like that wrong.

I can assure you. Here.

She said the cost of a
room is 60 pounds a night.

As you can see, I've paid a 180.

It's just so strange.

Is Karli around? Maybe
she can help sort this out.

I don't mean to overstay my
welcome.

She went out to try and phone
a friend.

There's something else I
feel I should mention but

maybe I'm mistaken.

No, I'd like to hear it.

When I handed Karli the money,

I saw her put some on
the blue tin in the shelf

and then the rest in her pocket.

I didn't think anything at that
time.

I just thought some was for
petty cash

and she'd transfer the
rest in her own time.

But, if there's this confusion
then-

Could you excuse me for a
moment?

Yeah.

(cupboard opens)

[Kelly] I'm sorry I put it
in (indistinct) right now.

But if you leave a message,

I'll get back to you as soon as
I can.

Hey, it's me.

I was just checking in
if you had a good night.

Call me back when you can, yeah?

Shit you probably can't
'cause it's shitty reception.

Anyway I,

I got some good news.

My mum came around and I could
be with you

by the end of the summer.

Once the land line is up I'll,

I'll call you and give you the
number.

Okay I-

(dramatic music)

(footsteps approaches)

What the fuck?

Mom!

Everything okay?

I need to talk to you Karli.

There's something strange.

Where's the money Karli?

What?

The money Kyle paid for
the room. Where is it?

I put it in the tin.

(metal thuds)

60 pounds' in there.

Where's the rest?

That's all of it.

Don't lie to me Karli.

I know he paid for three nights.

No, he paid for one night.

I saw the receipt you gave him.

Empty pockets.

No.

- I'm not asking Karli.
- No!

Get off me.

I can explain.

120 pounds exactly.

I never took you for a thief
Karli.

I haven't done anything.

You know, I thought I
really did a decent job

bringing you up on my own but
this!

This make's me think otherwise.

Listen to me, he's lying!

Is everything okay?

Sorry I don't mean to intrude.

I was gonna make a drink and
wondered if you'd like one.

No, thank you.

Sorry you have to hear that.

We're just having a
little misunderstanding.

Tell her.

Karli.

I'm sorry, I've no idea
what you're talking about.

You asked to stay for one night

and you paid for one night.

That's enough Karli!

I am so sorry.

Karli seems to have become
confused

about how long you've been
staying.

I understand okay, it's fine.

If you want me to leave, I'll
go.

I'm sure I can find somewhere
else to rent a few miles away.

No! No.

It's fine. Really. You
paid for three nights.

I insist you stay.

We will try and make
the rest of your stays

pleasant as possible.

Thank you.

As long as it's not too much
trouble.

[Amanda] Really, it's no
trouble.

Karli, I'd like you to
apologize to our guest.

But mum.

But nothing.

I'm sorry.

It's fine. It's just a
simple misunderstanding.

Karli, I hate to sound rude

but I was wondering if I could
have one of your cigarettes.

I've run out and there's
no stores for miles.

I don't smoke.

I thought I saw you smoking
last night in the doorway.

Sorry. I must have it
all wrong. My mistake.

Save it.

(gulps)

(knocks on door)

Hello, just wanted to let
you know your dinner's ready.

(knocking continues)

Kyle? Are you in there?

(crickets chirping)

(ominous music)

(Kyle breathing heavily)

(Karli screams)

(footsteps moving)

(clock ticking)

(bottle opens)

Hello?

(lighter clicks)

Good Morning.

Oh. Good Morning.

Sleep well?

I sure did.

It's (indistinct) a morning
walk.

I noticed.

I also noticed that

you covered up your windows.

I have trouble sleeping

unless the room's completely
dark.

I hope that's okay.

It's been that way since I can
remember.

My mum used to say

that she had to cover every
inch of my nursery room windows.

And also put the towel
down the front of the door.

If she didn't, I'd spend the
entire night

screaming the house down.

Weird huh?

- Yeah. Kind of.
- [Karli] Mum!

I've been calling you.

Oh sorry love. I didn't hear
you.

Phone's working.

Is it?

Yeah. (indistinct)

Some guy just called
saying we're hooked up.

Well that's great.

That's one less thing to worry
about.

Just a hundred more to sort out.

So you um...

You won't happen to be going

to the store or anything today
would you?

Yeah. Do you need something?

Yeah. A few things.

Cigarettes for one.

Well, I do need to get a few
things so,

if you write me a list

I'll make sure that I'll pick it
up later.

I just can come with you.

Some of the things I
need are rather personal.

Yeah, I guess. Why not?

[Kelly] I'm sorry.

It's been busy.

Doing what?

[Kelly] Stuff.

What kind of stuff?

[Kelly] Lot's of things.

On your own or with someone
else?

I'm just taking Kyle to the
supermarket.

So is there anything you need?

Okay.

Are you still there?

[Kelly] Yes.

You didn't answer me.

[Kelly] What do you
want me to say Karli?

I just want you to tell me the
truth.

You've been acting weird
ever since I got here and-

[Kelly] It's not going to work.

What?

[Kelly] This, It's not gonna
work.

I don't wanna do this over the
phone

but you've left me with no
choice.

What are you saying?

[Kelly] I can't be doing

with a long distance
relationship.

I told you. I'm coming
back in a couple of months.

[Kelly] I've met someone.

(car engine starts)

[Karli] Don't do this to me
Kelly.

[Kelly] Sorry.

[Karli] Who is it?

[Kelly] I've got to go.

Tell me. Who is she?

[Kelly] I'm really sorry. Bye.

(car drives away)

(keys clanking)

(door closes)

(ominous music)

(door unlocks)

You shouldn't be in here.

(punches)

(Amanda crying)

[Amanda] Karli!

Mum?

Ah, you're awake.

I was worried I killed
you for a moment there.

What are you doing?

What am I doing? I'm trying to
survive.

That's what I'm doing.

I won't have funny business.

I don't wanna see either of you
harmed

but make no hones about it.

If you try anything I'll shoot
you both

without a moment's hesitation.

What do you want?

What do I want?

I want you to sit there and be
quiet.

Both of you.

And don't worry.

That's what I want.

In the morning I'll be gone,

and you won't ever hear from me
again.

You okay?

I think so. You?

Yeah.

Kyle, why have you got the gun?

Protection.

Protection from who?

Us.

Why do we need protecting?

Protection from what?

He's crazy. He's destroyed his
room.

You're wrong. I am not crazy.

I'm just trying to keep
something away.

Keep what away?

I don't know what they are
exactly.

I'm being chased by some things.

Why?

Because I tried to help some
people when I shouldn't have.

You should always try and help
people.

(Kyle laughing)

No you shouldn't.

No you shouldn't.

I opened my door to two
injured men a few months ago.

They said they were being
chased.

I let them in and gave them a
shelter

against my wife's wishes.

I was about to call the
police when all went to shit.

I heard the windows smash.

The men tried to run
away. They didn't make it.

These things, they found them.

And they killed them in a
terrible way

you can't even imagine.

When they were done,

they turned their attention
to me and my family.

I barely escaped.

[Amanda] And your family?

Why are they now after you?

Because I tried to help those
men

and doing so, I put myself
into their sick old game.

It's a game to them?

By terrorizing you?

It's like a hunt.

I'm the fox.

If they find you, will
we be the next target?

Only if they know I'm here.

Which is why I need your
cooperation.

I never stay in one place
more than three nights.

If we can make it first
thing in the morning,

without any problems,

I'll be gone as soon as the sun
comes up

and you'll be safe. I promise
you.

You are crazy.

I am not crazy.

I'm just desperate.

Get the fuck out of my house!

Shut up!

Don't tell me what to do!

Go! Leave us alone!

Calm! It's okay baby.

We're gonna keep calm
and just do as he says.

Why don't you leave us alone?

First thing in the morning.

Until then I'm not going
anywhere.

And neither are you.

Why don't you both try and get
some sleep?

You don't believe him do you?

I'm telling you the truth.

Like you did with the money
you gave me?

I didn't lie to you. I
never stole that money.

He gave it to me for letting him
in!

Is that true?

I admit I lied there.

I used it to rent a room for a
few nights

but I'm not lying now.

We are all in danger
unless we all play it cool.

Help! Help me! No!

- Quiet!
- Please.

Please don't hurt my baby.
Please.

I wasn't planning on it but
they will if they hear her.

I need you to be quiet.

If you make one sound, I will
kill you.

Do you understand?

It could be the police.

They'll break down the door and
come in.

It's not the police. I need
you to listen and listen fast.

It's them. I know it's them!

And they can't come in
unless they know I'm inside.

If they find out, they will come
in here

and they will kill all of us!

We haven't helped you!

He won't see it that way!

What if someone wanted a room?

What if they heard us screaming?

Shit! Shit! Oh shit!

Mum I'm so scared.

Shit. They don't know
I'm here. They don't.

They don't know I'm here.

How do you know that?

If they did, we'd
all all be dead by now.

They might suspect I'm here but
they don't know for certain.

They won't come in unless
they know I'm here.

We need them to move on.

Amanda.

Come here. I need you to go to
the door.

And get rid of them. Okay?

Do not tell them I'm here.

Do not run away or whatever
you do, do not let them inside.

Just get rid of them.

You want me to answer the door?

Yes.

Just act like there's nothing
wrong.

Your daughter's life depends on
it. Okay?

Mum don't.

It's okay, I'm gonna come
straight back.

Don't you hurt my daughter.

I won't.

Hello dear.

Hello.

Nice night, isn't it?

How can I help you?

I heard screaming. Is
everything okay?

Yes.

Everything's fine.

It sounded as if someone

was in the most terrible of
pain.

No. No. Everything's fine.
We're fine.

May I come in?

Come in?

Yes.

I thought you might invite me in

for a nice cup of tea.

No I'm-

Now's not a good time.

Ah. I see.

If there is someone in
your home that is listening

and you are in trouble,

just nod your head twice.

No one home.

I'm fine.

Good night.

[Old Woman] If he's in
there, he won't get away.

You're all fucking dead!

He's crazy you know?

He preys on damaged women.

He kills them and fucks them!
Fucks them and kills them!

(Amanda sobs)

Mum?

Amanda.

Amanda!

You believe me now, don't you?

Oh god. I need you to keep it
together.

What did you do?

What do you mean?

Why are they after you?

I told you. I only tried to
help.

We're gonna die aren't we?

Don't say that mum.

Now, we're not. Sit down.

Sit down.

Okay. Okay.

Okay, okay.

They can get inside your head.

The can make you see things.

This has happened before?

Yes.

That's why I only stay for three
nights.

Look, I'm not gonna lie to you,

we are all in serious danger.

If you do as I say, we
will make it for the night.

In the morning, I'll be
gone and so will they.

I need a drink and my tablets.

You need your wits about you!

Don't you-

Don't you tell me what I need.

Listen to me.

They will do everything in their
power

to find out if I'm in here.

They are listening.

They will look through windows.
They will use their tricks.

These fuckers, they're smart.

Do you have any windows open in
the house?

My bedroom window is open.

Yeah. Mine is too.

You need to close them
and the curtains too.

We can't let them get a look
inside.

Are you coming with us?

No.

I can't move around the house

until everything's been blocked
off

so all curtains and
windows need to be closed.

I wanna stay here.

Please. You'll be fine.

Can't we just call the police?

Police can't do
anything and if they come,

they would try to arrest me.

And they will know I've been
inside here.

You'll be dead in seconds and
the police?

They'll kill them too.

Do you get what I'm fucking
saying here?

Karli, we need to do this.

I can't. I can't do this.

Listen. Do you trust me?

Karli, do you trust me?

Okay. Then we can do this.

Okay.

Come on.

Come straight back.

(Karli screams)

Peek a boo, I see you.

How about that drink, bitch?

(tap opens)

Mum!

[Amanda] What is it? What's
wrong?

I saw them.

What? What did you see?

I saw them. They're outside
just

stood still, watching me.

Mum, I'm scared.

There's more of them outside.

I thought there might be.

What does this mean?

It means we need to be very
careful.

Would you have any black
bags and some tape?

We have parcel tape.

That will do. Go and get it.

What do you need it for?

Just get it. I'll tell you
when you get.

You're gonna need to do this.

Me?

I need you to cover every inch

of the window and the door.

Okay.

Okay. Don't leave any spot
uncovered.

All right? Every inch, Karli.

Hello.

My, aren't you a young pretty
lady.

Haven't seen my son, have you?

I'm looking for him.

He's injured.

I'm worried.

No.

That's strange.

A little birdie told
me that he was inside.

Well, he's not.

(tape tears)

No!

You don't get to tell me
how to live in my own house.

I want a fucking drink and I'm
having one!

Keep your voice down.

[Old Woman] Why are you closing

all the windows and curtains
dear?

It's like you're trying to hide
something.

I just want you to know

my dear, if we find out

that he's in there,

I will slice your fucking throat
and

cut your tongue you lesbian
whore!

Mum, what are you doing?

I'm just having a little
drink to steady my nerves.

You're gonna get us
all killed, you mean.

You were the ones who
brought those things here.

We never asked for any of it.

Neither did I.

Did you cover the windows?

Yeah.

Every inch?

Yes.

I need to go to the bathroom.
I'll be back in a minute.

Do me a favor. Get your
mother to stop drinking.

You don't get to tell
my daughter what to do.

They'll kill you and take your
mother.

Mum, I'm freaking out here.

I need you to be strong,
not drunk, please.

I'm sorry.

Don't be.

No. I should be taking care of
you.

Not the other way around.

What is it mum?

Mum, don't.

That fucker is stealing from us.

No, it must be a mistake.

No, it's not a mistake.
These are my cards.

I don't believe it.

We have about two hours until
dawn.

What is it? What's wrong?

- It's a con.
- What?

It's a big fucking con!

Is this how you and your
buddies get your kicks?

Terrorizing women in their own
home?

What are you talking about?

These are my credit cards!

As have you got in here.

Are these from other
people that you've conned?

Mr. C Davis.

Ms. Sandra Worthing.

Look.

It's just all a big lie, isn't
it?

Those things out there. It's
just people.

And they're all in on it too.

No, let me explain.

No.

Don't take another fucking step.

Do you think this is funny?

Do you?

My husband was killed
in his own living room

over a fucking TV!

And you've done all this.

All this for a few pounds?

- Please, I know it looks bad.
- Don't!

No bullets.

You robbed us with an unloaded
gun.

You were actually gonna shoot
me.

I ran out of bullets two weeks
ago.

I didn't come here to-

Come on!

(Kyle grunts)

Fuck! Where's your phone!

In my bag!

- Where's that?
- Downstairs!

(footsteps approach)

- Help me!
- I'm (indistinct)

Get the fuck out of my house.

Please, I can explain.
I haven't lied to you.

We called the police. You
better go.

They're coming in a minute.

No you haven't.

The line is dead and your
mobile phone's in my pocket.

We used Karli's phone.

Karli's phone?

Yeah, so you and your
friends need to get out

before all the police arrive.

You called the police
using Karli's phone?

Yeah that's what I said.

The one that's on the dressing
table?

The one that needs charge?

Look, I'm not here to hurt
you. I don't wanna hurt anyone.

I know taking from you was wrong
but I just need to survive.

(sobs) I just thought,

is it was cards the
insurance will pay out.

The way I see it, I
wasn't stealing from you.

I was stealing from the
credit card company.

[Amanda] (sobs) Please, leave
us alone.

I can't go anywhere.

Not until the fucking sun comes
up.

(telephone rings)

(both gasps)

Don't answer!

(telephone continues to ring)

Don't answer it!

Hello?

[Greg] Hello? Amanda?

Amanda, can you hear me? It's
me.

Who is it mum?

I know this may come as a
shock to you.

I just needed to get away. I'm
com in home.

I miss you. I miss Karli.

I love you both more than
anything in the world.

I just want you to know that.

Mum who is it?

[Greg] Why don't you talk to
me darling?

Just let me hear the sound of
your voice.

Please.

Leave us alone.

[Greg] You don't want me home?

Okay, I understand. It's a lot
to take in.

Say, you haven't got another
man with you by any chance?

What?

Another man.

I'm looking for him and I
think he's hiding out there.

Is he in there with you?
I think he's dangerous.

What's wrong?

(door opens)

Keep away!

Just listen to me,
I'm not gonna hurt you.

Leave us alone!

Listen to me!

Help us!

What have you done?

(creature knocks on door)

Fuck! We need to go now! Run!

- No!
- Mum!

No.

(blade stabs)

(Kyle grunts)

Go! Go! Go!

Come on!

Help me.

Karli.

(Kyle breathes heavily)

(door knob turns)

(thuds on the ceiling)

What's happening?

They know I'm here.

They're not gonna stop
until we're all dead.

Why?

I told you. It's a game to
them.

And because you didn't do as I
said,

they've now brought you into it.

You're just like me.

You're foxes being chased by
blood hounds.

(Kyle grunts)

Are you okay?

(gasps) I just need a minute.

I just need a minute.

What can we do?

Kyle! What can we do?

There's not much we can do.

Except just wait in here

and hope they don't get
in until the sun comes up.

Then we just run as far
and as fast as we can.

[Karli] Where?

- Anywhere.
- [Amanda] Is it obvious?

Doesn't matter where we
run. They're gonna find us.

Your mum is right.

We can go a few days without
seeing them

but they're always gonna find
us.

So I'm gonna be running
for the rest of my life?

Or dying for the last of it.

God.

[Amanda] Fuck!

What are they doing?

Trying to make us
leave. (grunts in pain)

I'm really sorry
about taking your cards.

Doesn't matter now, does it?

I mean it. I just
needed money to survive.

(knocks on door)

(Old woman gasps heavily)

You have been keeping him from
me.

But you are just
prolonging the inevitable.

And in doing so, you two have
become interesting to me.

[Karli] Leave us alone!

You have most kept me from my
quarry.

And I pity your ignorance.

You knew not what you did.

Therefore, I'm willing to
bargain.

One of you may walk free.

Free to live a life

without having to constantly
look over your shoulder.

No.

We have to go.

No. Please.

You heard him.

You can live your life. You can
be free.

Mum, no I need you!

No, I've lost your dad already.

I've nothing to live for if I
lose you.

Don't open that door.

(Amanda strikes Kyle)

Mum don't!

(continuously beats Kyle)

I love you, baby girl.

I love you too.

Can't we just run together?

I'm not strong enough.

I've never been as strong as
you.

I just want you to be free.

Go!

No I can't.

You can. And you will.

He's gonna kill us both if you
don't go.

Go now.

(Amanda screams)

(ominous laugh)

(blade slashes)

(footsteps running)

[Kelly] Karli, I'm right here.

Kelly?

Stay away from me.

Where's Kelly?

[Kelly] I am right here.

Why are you doing this?

I wanted to play a game.
That's all.

Now come to me.

You said you'd let one of us go!

And your mother told
us that you were alone.

I like it when they fight back.

It makes the game a whole
lot more interesting for us.

This is not a game.

Oh, but it is, Karli.

And you are moving around
the board so gracefully.

What do you want from me?

I have a proposition for you.

Join us.

Become one of us.

Join us.

The rewards are worth more
than any earthly possessions.

(grabs handbag)

(footsteps running)

Mum!

Mum!

(crickets chirping)

Oh no.

[Amanda] Karli.

No!

Karli!

(smashes)

Run.

Run!

(monster growls)

(car starts)

(outro music starts)
