(tense tones)

(gunfire)

How do you feel?

(glass shattering)

Any idea where she might be?

Isn't that her there?

I mean, who the hell does he think he is?

I'm not the one making moves on Grace.

What, really?

What, you didn't tell anyone?

No.

[Leon] Not even Josh?

Why would I tell Josh?

I think it's just that Stella said.

(car engine roaring)

Oh stop, stop, look there.

- Brian Marshall.
- Oh really?

We have to spend the afternoon
sniffing out Brian Marshall?

That's what you get paid for.

[Josh] What's he doing?

Have a go.

(tense music)
(tires screeching)

(panting)

Good day, Brian.

Hello, mate.

Hey, it's not nice to
chase people, Mr. Blake.

[Lawson] Well, what are you running for?

Nothing, man, I didn't even see you.

I was just on my way to the bloody gym.

I mean shit, man.

Ah, to the gym.

What's that in your pocket?

Nothing, man.

[Lawson] You wanna empty it for me, mate?

[Brian] Nope.

[Lawson] Oh, go on.

Oh come on, man, it's my mum's arthritis.

She gives me a bit every now and then.

You better get on a general duties

and get 'em down here,
mate, take Brian away.

Come on, Sergeant
Blake, don't take me, man.

I don't wanna take you in, Brian.

You walk around with big
bags of dope in your pocket.

What choice have I got?

- Hey.
- 10 minutes.

[Lawson] 10 minutes.

What if I know something?

There's a big job going
down in Footscray today.

Where?

Footscray, in a pub or a servo.

Which one is it?

Stacey Ray.

[Josh] No, which one
is it, a pub or a servo?

I don't know, he never said.

Oh, could I have my dope back?

(grunting)

[Gaz] Carp.

Victoria.

Melbourne.

Betroit.

That's not a B.

Yeah it is.

- Not a B.
- It is.

(banging)

Open up, this is the police.

(tense music)

Put your hands on your
sticks where I can see 'em.

Bend over and stick your
head up each other's asses

and take a deep breath.

(laughing)

I've got a gun in me hand.

You idiot.

Oh nice.

I've been tonguing for one of those.

[Dave] Where'd you get it?

Brian Marshall gave it to
me for a quarter of weed.

Oh not Brian Marshall, he bloody stinks.

He swapped weed for that?

Yeah.

I reckon we'll be on the news tonight.

Yeah, well I just wanna be sitting

there counting me money.

[Gaz] Dave lost all his money at the dogs.

[Dave] Shut up, you mongrel.

Hey, don't point that at me.

All right, it goes off real easy.

Rip your arm off if you're not careful.

Don't shoot me bloody TV.

(glass shattering)

(laughing)

You stupid bastard.

It got off like a thunder crack.

Oh sorry, Dave-oh.

Let's take this puppy out to play.

(dramatic tones)

(dramatic rock music)

Hey, guys.

Spot me?

Doesn't the idea of you being mad with me

and Grace being mad at you
just make you feel tired?

Come on.

Bring it up, breathe.

Okay.

- Get up.
- Yeah?

Get it up, mate.

Take it.

Better work on your guns and your girls.

Yeah, well she never
said it was in the vault.

If she ever said it was in the vault,

I never would've repeated...

Unlucky for you, she
doesn't see it that way.

Where's Dom?

Two months isn't that long, babe.

It's a short jousting for shoplifting.

Then stop it, Dom,
this isn't funny for me.

It's a Hollywood marriage.

It's my body.

It's never been good enough.

I'm always so sick and now
I'm making my baby sick too.

Hey, but the baby's not sick.

You heard the doctor, you
just need to be still.

Okay, you gotta cook it like in an oven.

Ovens don't walk around, do they?

They'd look silly.

(giggling)

Do you think I look silly?

No.

You look beautiful.

Now get out of my car.

No, just today, don't go to work.

I just don't want you to go today.

I've got to go, lovely, all right?

Come on.

Has he gigged for us before?

[Lawson] Yeah, it's Brian Marshall.

[Leon] There are 14 pubs
and eight service stations

in the Footscray area.

I'm sending them to you now.

All right, we'll do
the back stretch first.

I hope it's the Floor and
Hand, I'm banned from there.

The publican's a tired old prick.

(tense music)

[Stace] What are you doing, Dave?

Not here.

They could grab our rego.

Well where?

Around the corner.

Could I wear the horse mask?

How can you see through this bloody thing?

Take 'em off, people will see us.

They're not gonna see us with that.

You ready?

Are you ready?

I don't reckon I can do it, eh?

Come on, Dave, it's not
that packed in there, mate.

Come on, mate, it's
gonna be the easiest money

we've ever made.

Come on, Dave, trust me.

Dave.

We're gonna be in and
we're gonna be out, mate.

End of the day, we're gonna be rich.

Come on, Dave.

Saddle up.

And boys, we leave no man behind.

Remember that, all right?

Yes?

(tense music)

Everyone get on the ground.

Get on the ground, bloody stingers.

Everyone lie down on the
ground and you won't get hurt.

Hey, hey this is a family bar.

Go and point your guns at a bank.

Go and rob someone that can afford it.

Yeah, we've been keeping an
eye on you and this pub, mate.

Where's your safe, old man?

Hey, are you deaf?

I said get on the ground.

Move your hands where I can see 'em.

(glass shattering)

Stace.

Stace.

Stace?

- Open the safe.
- Leave her alone.

I'll open the safe, you
just don't touch her.

Stay calm, Abbie.

We'll do what they want
then they'll leave.

- Cover him.
- I am.

I can't hear nothing from Stace.

Hey, Stace.

(beeping)

Come on.

Where's the rest of it?

Okay, silent alarm, Mona
Castle Hotel, Footscray.

Let's go.

(siren wailing)

Blanket?

Check.

Bean bag shotty?

Check.

Dumdums?

Check.

Window smasher?

Check.

Dom?

Noticeably absent.

(phone ringing)

Dude, where are you?

Look, it's not my fault.

We had a doctor's appointment
and they were running late.

It wasn't us.

We were on time.

Yeah, well like everyone,

Kerry just wants a bit of job love, mate.

Just a bit of job love.

Stace.

Oh, mate.

Gaz, we gotta get him out of here.

Go and get the car, I'll get
these guys to carry him out.

Get up.

Go on.

(siren blaring)

[Lawson] That's him.

Josh, cover the door with me.

Gracie, around the rear.

Cops are out the front.

- What?
- Cops are out the front.

(intense music)

Quick, get in the back.

What about Stace?

[Gaz] Just leave him.

Police, don't move.

Lawson, offender at the rear.

He's got a weapon, he's gone back inside.

(gunfire)

[Josh] Go go go go go go.

Covering.

Leon.

[Leon] Yeah, boss?

Get on a D24.

Shots fired at the Mona
Castle Hotel in Footscray.

Armed rob in progress.

Immediate assistance.

[Leon] Okay, copy that.

You all right?

Lock it down.

Leon, can you isolate
the phone to the pub?

I don't want these blokes
calling their mates down here.

I'll get an SBD up.

- (sirens blaring)
- What's that?

All units are to approach
without lights and sirens,

our people, without lights and sirens.

This is Sergeant Brendan
Joshua of Tactical Response.

I'm requesting an SBD for the Mona...

Okay.

We've got one, possibly more
gunmen holed up in that pub.

The first thing we gotta do

is get the general
public outta here, okay?

That means emptying these
houses, setting up a cordon.

Obviously this area in
front of the pub is red hot.

So when necessary, jump the fences,

go around and knock on the back
doors, get 'em out that way.

All right?

Keep your heads down.

Josh, can you organize setting up

dominant observers with snipers?

- Yeah?
- Yep, got it.

Holy shit.

What do we do?

[Gaz] Tie 'em up.

[Dave] If we go out now,
the cops will go easy on us.

I need time to think, just tie 'em up.

What do I tie 'em up with?

You got any rope?

I'm afraid you're in the
pub with no rope, boys.

Well, give us your phones.

Throw 'em over there now.

All of you, now.

Hey, do you wanna grab
Dom's war bag, we're leaving.

[Michael] Yeah.

Yeah I know, no he's still not here yet.

I'll bring his team in.

[Lawson] He's late.

We're dealing it.

Look, it's fine.

If he wants to stay home, play nurses,

chew folly, that's fine with me.

I'll send him a hammer.

I'll clean out his locker.

Yeah, see you in 15.

[Leon] Dom, your team's
being dispatched without you.

Kerry took your seat.

Going straight to Footscray.

Yeah look, I'm getting
there as quick as I can, Leon.

Okay?

(tires screeching)
(glass shattering)

Jesus.

Oh my god.

Oh my god, I'm so sorry.

Are you okay?

Yes, I'm okay, are you all right?

God, isn't it weird?

I mean, I was just driving one minute

and then the next you were
there and there I was,

and oh, it was so loud, wasn't it?

[Dominic] Yeah.

[Woman] I'm so sorry.

(mimicking gunfire)

I'm gonna shoot someone today.

You can shoot me.

I don't care.

You're not haunting my pub,

Des, you hang around here enough as it is.

You don't know what you're doing do you?

Let me do it.

As long as we have them,
they can't touch us.

Let's go get Stace.

No, no no no, don't call
it in, I can deal with it.

Yeah.

Sergeant Dominic Wales, Tactical Response.

Thank you.

[Woman] You're a cop?

Yeah.

Oh, you're a cute cop.

Are you gonna charge me, officer?

Not today.

Oh, how can you tell I
wasn't driving dangerously?

I'm a dangerous kind of girl.

Yeah, I'm starting to get the picture.

I'm Nina, by the way.

(somber music)

(whispering)

What if your brother comes and gets us?

He can smash through 'em with his car.

We'll get Stace, we'll
take him to a hospital.

He'll be all right.

No signal.

(tense music)

There's none on any of them.

(beeping)

Pete, will you go around the back?

(phone ringing)

Senior Sergeant Lawson Blake.

[Dave] Who was that?

Cops.

Cops are at your brother's place?

We're bloody dead.

(tense music)

Leon, can I get a plate check?

November Whiskey Oscar 983.

[Leon] Onto it.

How you wanna carve this up?

I thought I'd brief the guys first

and then hand it over
to you as team leader.

Are you negotiating on this?

Yeah, yeah I am.

Fine, yeah, let's do it.

Good.

Okay, gather around,
listen up, thanks, people.

For those of you that don't know,

this is Inspector Kerry Vincent.

She'll be acting as team leader,

and myself as primary negotiator.

Command post will remain here for now,

unless we go into the night,
then we'll have to move.

Hopefully, it won't come to that.

Okay, inside the pub, at this stage,

we've only identified one target.

That is Stacey Ray, he has a docket here

with a list as long as your arm.

Now, he has at least one
accomplice, if not more,

and intel suggests to us
that they're known associates

with one Brian Marshall.

This is all about diffusion.

Probably manageable,
but possibly dangerous,

especially if there are
hostages involved, okay?

Our number one objective, as always,

is to resolve the situation peacefully.

These guys are high risk though,

because they're out of their depth.

We trap them, they'll panic.

So let's treat it as worst case scenario,

regardless of what we think
of their combined intellect.

All right, Michael, you
cover the back door, okay?

Keep your ear on the radio.

Stella, you and Josh,
you're on eyes and ears.

All right, you guys,
go with Michael, okay?

Cover him.

Kerry, that number
plate on the sus vehicle

leads to a David Falks.

Uh-huh, uh-huh, well get an
address and send someone out.

Yeah, he's a Footscray local.

He's connected.

Yeah, he's not real bright.

- No.
- No.

What do you reckon they want?

I reckon we turned up so quick

they don't know what they want.

Yeah, well we'll sit tight, yeah?

They'll come out.

They'll get sick of being nuts eventually.

Mm-hmm.

(tense music)

Tango One, bravo side,
I have the rear entrance

in my sight.

Nothing to report.

[Kerry] Just sit tight, Michael.

(tense music)

- (phone ringing)
- Stace needs help.

He's making bloody weird noises.

It just keeps ringing,
ringing, ringing, and ringing.

We've gotta get him out of here, Gaz.

Get up.

You tell them we want an ambo.

Hello.

Hello?

[Abbie] Yeah, we want an ambo.

Who am I speaking with?

Abbie.

[Lawson] This is Senior
Sergeant Lawson Blake

of Tactical Response, Abbie.

We're here to help.

Can you tell me, are you hurt in any way?

[Abbie] No.

Now, I can hear the person

giving you instructions in the background.

Are they able to talk to me?

He wants to talk to you.

No way.

[Abbie] No, no, he
doesn't want to talk to you.

That's okay.

Anyone else there that will talk to me?

No, he won't talk to you either.

Abbie, you're doing a
really good job, okay?

I promise, I won't ask you anything

that'll put you in danger.

[Abbie] Please, can
you just send us an ambo?

Right, what for?

Can you tell me who for?

One of the guys.

When they came in, he fell down.

One of the guys who's with you now?

[Abbie] No, no, not the one.

I think he's unconscious.

[Lawson] Okay, Abbie, I really need

to talk to one of them.

Can you ask one of them to jump
on the phone for me please?

Please, can you just do what they say?

[Lawson] Abbie, you're doing a great job.

I'm not gonna let anything
happen to you, okay?

I'll keep you safe, I promise.

Look, I wanna swap a hostage for an ambo.

You've got women in there, right?

[Gaz] Why?

I just thought you could
release them first, that's all.

What's your name, what should I call you?

Just send me an ambo.

[Lawson] Yeah, I'm working on that.

I can give you more
reason to send an ambo in.

We can beat the shit
out of this little one.

That we can do for you.

(whimpering)

(tense music)

I think, if we send in one of ours,

we can confirm exactly
who we're dealing with,

and how many they got in there, weapons,

their state of mind, we
can work out how to play it

from the inside.

But our priority's
gotta be those hostages.

We don't do anything till they're safe.

If we send someone in
there, there'll be no way

we can contact them from out here.

They'll need to stay in
sight of those cameras.

Yeah.

- Hey, sorry.
- Save it.

Come here.

If you wanna be late like that again,

just keep driving, don't bother
coming to work, all right?

Where's your head at, Dom?

Is it at home or here?

It's here.

Good, I hope so, because I need you here.

- Okay?
- Yeah.

[Kerry] Hey, Dom.

[Dom] Yeah?

All right, what I want
you to do is sort of help...

(tense music)

(phone ringing)

Well, lucky for you, the ambos here

are actually concerned about your mate

and wanna help him, but
there are some rules.

Yeah?

[Lawson] Ambo goes in.

You send me two people in return, okay?

He checks out your mate
and then he's gone.

Yeah, all right.

Am I being clear?

[Gaz] Deal.

[Lawson] Good.

You ready?

Just trying to think
back to First Aid Advanced.

Now, if you're feeling
uncomfortable about this,

speak up now, all right?

No, look, I'm cool.

How's that?

[Kerry] Yeah that's clear, clear as day.

Could you just say something?

Okay, how's that, how's that sound?

- Yeah, you're all right.
- Okay.

We gotta send 'em two hostages.

[Dave] How about the piss-hat?

Send him out.

[Dave] All right, you.

Take the girls.

No.

You.

You'll have to shoot me, mate,

before I leave them in here with you.

[Dave] Yeah?

Kerry, eyes are up.

We've got Alpha Two, Delta Three and Five

on the first floor.

Second floor, Charlie Two and Delta Four.

That's all I could get.

All the other blinds were drawn.

Hey, here they are.

Good-oh.

Now, where are those hostages?

(tense music)

(door knocking)

All right, jeez, okay.

Steady on.

Get out.

Move away from the building.

Move towards the officers
directly ahead of you.

It's just an oxygen tank.

So, what happened to your mate?

[Dave] Fell into the cellar.

He's hurt pretty bad.

All right, how long ago did he fall?

About 20 minutes.

Okay.

So, where are the hostages?

[Gaz] They're here.

That's my pub, you bastards.

Okay, Gracie.

Get 'em a blanket, get 'em warm.

See what you can get out of 'em.

All right?

I'm just gonna take you to
the ambo, get you checked out.

What are your names?

We got him.

Okay look, I gotta get him to a hospital.

I can give him oxygen,

but there's not much
more I can do from here.

Can you get him something warm, please?

He's freezing cold.

Okay, I want sirens on, sirens,

lights, as loud as you can.

Everything you got.

(sirens blaring)

[Gaz] What are they doing?

Okay, Target Three is
wearing dark camouflage pants,

a black hoodie, and a yellow T-shirt.

He's about five-11.

Target Two is a similar build.

They're carrying a
double-barrel 12 gauge sawn-off

and a spear gun.

I repeat, a spear gun.

Targets appear agitated.

They're not confident.

I couldn't see the hostages,
they're not in the front bar.

But this guy's in a bad
way, I'm staying in.

What are you doing?

I'm just talking to your mate here.

I'm trying to keep him conscious.

Okay?

So you stay with me.

So let's get you some oxygen, all right?

I wanna talk to the cop.

Okay, cut 'em.

Cut 'em.

Cut 'em.

(phone ringing)

All right, sh, everyone.

How's it going in there?

Should we get your friend to hospital?

We want you to bring us our car.

Well, you got the keys, mate.

(phone smashing)

You bloody idiot, now we got no phone.

My guess is it's Garry Lincoln.

He's a longtime buddy of David Falks.

David's been done for stealing cars,

but Garry, he's a bag snatcher, a thief.

He's on a good behavior bond.

Which doesn't look like
it's going so well.

My guess is this is their first big job.

Hey, you'll be okay.

You just stay with me, huh?

Just listen to my voice.

I think you're getting out of here.

Hey, there's a game on today.

You probably wish you stayed at home, huh?

(coughing)

I reckon I probably should
have stayed at home today too.

[Grace] So, what's this?

Is this the room upstairs?

Yeah, he keeps it locked.

[Kerry] How are we going?

Five or many hostages taken upstairs

and these guys didn't see where to.

I told them to get out of my pub.

Good on you.

[Grace] He knows this place pretty well

but you're no artist are you, Des?

What have we got here?

What's this?

That's just a window.

Great.

(sighing)

Give us the keys to your office, old man.

What for?

[Dave] We need another phone.

They're downstairs.

Let's go.

Hey, Gaz, he's probably got
more money in the office.

(grunting)
(intense music)

[Dominic] Hey, what are you doing?

Get off him, let him go.

Let him go.

[Dave] Get off me.

[Gaz] What do you think you're doing?

[Dominic] Just put the gun down.

Put the gun down.

(grunting)

(groaning)

Why aren't we going in?

Wait.

Wait, we can't go in, we've got no idea

where those hostages are.

- He just speared that guy.
- Yes.

Yes, I know, I know.

But if we go in, we scare them

and they do something a whole lot worse.

[Lawson] I agree.

All right, all right.

Grace, Josh, you're on
the roof, all right?

See if you can get an entrance
into the second floor, okay?

Are you all right?

Yeah good, you?

[Kerry] Yeah, yeah yeah.

Yeah, I've checked out the
other pubs Secerade and Noni

and they're all the same.

Multiple guest rooms in the top floor.

I checked their website and
this pub has eight rooms

rented out and they all face windows.

Well, you gotta give them some credit.

They wouldn't put the hostages
in a room with a view, yeah?

Hey, Marcel, can you get
that image from Leon?

Yeah.

Operations.

(tense music)

Still no movement, Kerry.

Michael, could you save the radio

for when there is movement?

Copy that.

You ever shot anyone?

(sighing)

My senior sergeant did.

It keeps flashing in my mind.

I am not going to shoot you.

Oh yes you are.

Shoot me.

I can see it exactly how it happened.

Shoot me, shoot me, shoot me.

Just over and over again
like a video playing.

(gunfire)

I can't get it out of my head, actually.

Have you slept?

I'll tell you if I'm not okay.

(sighing)

[Dave] You won't be trying
that again will you, old man?

Shut up, Dave, you're not doing anything

to get us out of here.

You don't know what you're doing.

And you do, Gaz?

Look, he needs attention.

He's lost a lot of blood.

You have to let him get to a hospital.

I'm not leaving here till these mongrels

are out of my pub.

(rustling)

These old pubs, eh?

Everything sounds like
it's right on top of you.

Okay, okay, so the
hostages are right here.

Leon, this bathroom, that's just

above where Dom is, isn't it?

Yeah, give or take.

Okay, what are the
dimensions of that bathroom?

You're looking at about two meters.

[Kerry] Okay, and on the floor plans?

[Leon] 3.5.

Right.

Okay, so there must have been some sort

of renovation in this bathroom.

Here, leaving this sort of central room

with only a door that's a
cupboard or a storeroom.

They gotta be there.

All right, Josh, I want
you to start looking

about 2 1/2 meters in from the south wall

in line with Charlie Window Three.

Copy that, Kerry.

(tense music)

(phone ringing)

(coughing)

Kerry, we're right above them.

We can hear them.

Wait, Josh, don't move.

We have direct access,
permission to go in.

Wait.

My order is to wait.

(phone ringing)

I want a van, full tank.

Well, I'll have to clear that sort

of thing with the commissioner.

No.

My gun is trained on your ambo's head.

If I see a shadow of a copper,
I'm pulling the trigger.

No more talk.

He hung up.

All right, in you go, Josh.

Stella, on the roof, give 'em a hand.

Josh, we'll try and keep
them at the front of the pub,

but be as quick as you can.

He said we gotta wait until they clear it

with the commissioner.

He has to ask for permission,
that means he's listening.

[Pub Owner] I can't move my arm.

Let him go.

I don't have the equipment to help him.

I'll tell him we'll swap the
van for the injured publican.

That'll cause a distraction
around the front of the pub

and they can...

Yeah.

Hey, guys.

Get a cordon with tire
spikes surround it, okay?

Good news, the commissioner
has approved the van for you,

but first you have to do something for me.

[Gaz] No more hostages,
I'm not giving anyone else.

Yeah, all right, all right.

But I have to see the injured man.

You're not going anywhere
until you let me see him.

I need to know he's okay.

Come on, mate, be fair.

Just bring him to the front.

Okay, back up the van.

I think we're good, Dave, huh?

(grunting)

[Kerry] Okay, don't shoot.

Hold your fire.

No no no, I've got him.

(shushing)

They're actually doing it.

It's backing up.

Take the two girls,
they'll be easiest to handle.

What about Stace?

Dave, he's with the ambo.

He's only gonna weigh us down.

We leave no man behind.

If you was him and he was
you, he'd leave you behind,

that's for sure.

Okay, get the girls.

Target Two is heading
towards you, Josh, he's armed.

Just watch your back.

Dave.

If you wanna piss, you say now,

'cause once we're on the
road, we're not stopping.

Okay go, quick quick quick quick quick.

All right, get up, you're coming upstairs.

Well, I need to stay with your mate.

He's not good.

Get up, get up.
(grunting)

Gaz.
