Is It Cake? (2022–…): Season 2, Episode 6 - So Fresh and So Cake - full transcript

From frosted toilets to fondant toothpaste: Will a bathroom theme send the bakers' dreams down the drain? Guest judges: Charli, Heidi and Dixie D'Amelio.

[upbeat music plays]

-[woman] Hey, Mikey!
-[cheering]

-Hey, girls.
-[cheering and applause]

I feel like Harry Styles.

[laughter]

All right, bakers,
let's get down to business.

The finale is coming up fast
and the stakes continue to rise,

and so does the Cake Or Cash? prize.

It's now...

$15,000.

-Yeah, I did that.
-Whoa. What?

So today, one of you could walk away
with up to $20,000.

-Stop the madness.
-No way.

-[Mikey] I will not stop the madness.
-I need the money. I'm so broke.

-[Mikey] How are we feeling?
-Let's do this.

Oh, I'm so excited.

[laughter]

[Kayla] Hey, Miko!

You guys ready to go to the bathroom?

-Yes!
-Yay!

All right, let's play Find That Cake.

-[cheering and applause]
-[upbeat drum rhythm]

-[music fades]
-[applause]

When the cake wall spins around,

you'll see four items you'd find, class,

in the bathroom.

Cake wall, spin.

[dramatic music playing]

-Oh my... [laughs]
-Wow.

-Oh my goodness. No way.
-Those? Really?

[Kayla] Why?

[Mikey] Three of those items are real,
and one is cake.

Whoever finds the, yep, toilet cake first

gets first pick
at what they want to cakify.

Why?

[laughter]

You will have 20 seconds
to lock in your answers on the keypad.

-Your time starts now.
-This is wild.

-[tense music playing]
-[timer beeping]

Oh my God. Seriously?

-[Mikey] Ten seconds.
-[laughter]

Five, four, three, two, one.
Lock it in. Time is up!

-[bell dings]
-[groans]

[Mikey] I need some tools for this,

'cause it's a dirty job.

[woman] Oh my gosh.

-[man] Yes!
-[woman] Are you kidding?

[Danya] Oh my God.

For all the kids watching,
this is for you.

I love this so much more.

[Mikey] But it's always important
to be safe.

Kayla, you seem torn.

-Are you between two toilets?
-[laughter]

Yeah. Number Four doesn't have the handle,
so I feel like that's too obvious.

Like, they would have put the handle.

And then Number One
seems like it'd be the cake,

but the yellow one looks like cake
because that's cool.

Like a yellow toilet cake. I don't know.

That is cool.

-[laughs]
-Yellow toilet cake, baby.

But Number Four is suspicious.

You think Four is suspicious, huh?

[Miko] Oh God.

[dramatic music plays]

Oh my gosh.

Let's see.

[suspenseful music plays]

[dramatic music plays]

-Oh gosh.
-Let's find out if this toilet is cake.

Oh my God. [whimpering]

Please smash.

-[shattering]
-Oh my God!

-[screams]
-Yes!

-Oh!
-[woman] Oh my gosh.

How is this a show? How is this a show?

-[woman] Oh my God.
-[laughs]

[dramatic music playing]

-[woman screams]
-Oh God!

[Danya] Oh my God.

[laughter]

This isn't cake.

[Danya laughing] Okay.

-Season two, baby!
-I... I don't know.

Miko, you okay?

I'm... I'm worried. I'm the only one here
wearing short pants.

They all have protection
for their legs. I don't!

"Why'd I wear my short pants?"

[laughs]

So, Kayla, you thought this yellow toilet,
it would be cool if it was cake.

I didn't pick that one,

but it immediately,
when I really looked at it...

Now I'm nervous that that's it
because, yes, it's yellow,

and where do you just get a yellow toilet?

Okay, let's find out if this yellow toilet

is a yellow toilet...

[suspenseful music playing]

...or cake.

-[woman screams]
-Oh my God!

-Yes!
-Yup, that's all toilet.

-[man] Okay.
-That is satisfying. Like, oh my gosh.

Pete. What did you think?

-I picked One.
-[Mikey] You picked One.

-[Pete] Yes.
-[Mikey] Miko, what did you think?

-[Miko] I picked One as well.
-[Kayla] So did I.

-Are you confident?
-I think I'm confident with my answer.

Okay. Let's find out

if this thing

is cake.

-[Mikey] Oh!
-[cheering]

Wow, wow.

It's cake! It's cake!

[Mikey] I'm finding cake!

-[Kayla] Smack it.
-[Pete] There we go!

-Yay! Again!
-[cheering]

-Yes!
-Yeah!

[Mikey] I think I need...

[panting]

...the knife.

Whoa!

-[Spirit] Oh, it's pretty!
-Look at that.

That's gorgeous!
I gotta see more of this cake.

Oh, look at that. It's so pretty!

[Danya] Rainbow toilet!

-[Spirit] That's great.
-Wow.

That was good.

I think we can all agree
that was absurd, unexpected, and fun.

-Yes.
-[Mikey] Right?

The three of you will be competing
for up to $20,000 today.

-[Kayla] Yes!
-It's time to play

Is It Cake?

-[cheering]
-[upbeat drum rhythm plays]

-[music fades]
-[applause]

Let's see what we're working with.

-[Miko] Oh my God.
-[Danya] Oh, wow.

[Mikey] Each of you
will choose a bathroom item

that you will replicate into a cake.

I'm nervous just by looking at all these.

[Kayla] I don't know what I would pick.
I'm about to throw up.

Oh my God. There's too many things.

[Pete] Okay. What in the world? Okay.

Miko, you found the cake
the fastest, buddy.

-Good job, buddy. Good job.
-[cheering]

-Whoa!
-You get first pick.

[Miko] Okay. I'm not really sure
if I'm very much confident to do this,

but why not give it a try?

I'll pick Number Two.

[Mikey] The salt lamp and scent diffuser.

Why did you go with that?

I think I could achieve,

like, the crystal, salt-like texture
using isomalt.

If you're feeling particularly ambitious...

-Huh?!
-[contestants] Whoa!

It doesn't have to light up.
I'm just saying.

Turn it back off.

[laughter]

Our second-fastest baker was...

Kayla!

-Whoo!
-[Mikey] Kayla, Kayla!

-[Pete] Good job.
-[Kayla] I would choose...

Damn it. Number Four.

-[Mikey] The curlers and hairbrush?
-[Kayla] Yes.

I think the judges
will be really impressed

if I can replicate
precisely that hairbrush.

[Mikey] And finally, Pete!

-All right.
-[applause]

-What are you gonna go with, buddy?
-I'm going with Five.

[Mikey] A family of toothbrushes,

and of course, that famous brand,
Toothpaste brand toothpaste.

-[ding]
-[laughter]

All right, bakers. One of you will be
eliminated from the competition today.

And one of you could win up to $20,000,

-so two extremes.
-[cheering and applause]

[contestant] Yeah.

We are nearing the finale and crowning
someone the Is It Cake? champion.

Okay, bakers, you have eight hours
to complete your cakes.

-It's time to bake!
-[cheering and applause]

Go!

Wow!

[Spirit] Yes.

[energetic music playing]

-Go!
-Hi, Miko.

[laughing]

Can't wait to see your cake.
We're so excited.

-[Elizabeth] I know!
-Thank you.

Go, Miko!

[group chanting] Go, Miko! Go, Miko!

Go, Miko!

[cheers]

[laughter]

I kinda like this salt lamp
'cause it's asymmetrical.

-They'll all be a little bit different.
-Yes.

Cool. I like that.

The salt lamp texture is different
than the previous cakes that I've made.

First one was fruits,
the second one was a VCR player.

This time, it's a crystal.

The texture is different,
the material is different.

And it looks so pretty,
and I love pretty things.

-[Danya] Hey, Miko.
-Yes, Danya?

What are your flavors in your cake?

I just want to merge something Eastern
and then Western flavors as well. So...

-You're always so exotic.
-[laughter]

-Exotic and tropical. Yup.
-[woman] Yes.

[Miko] I'm making a lemon basil cake
with mango buttercream,

and white chocolate, rice cereal filling.

I feel really pressured right now,
'cause I haven't fooled any judges yet.

It has always been
the taste of my cake that's like...

That's my saving grace,
or that saves me. So...

At this point,
I haven't fooled the judges yet,

but hopefully
I get to fool them this time.

If I don't get to fool them this time,

I doubt myself if I am good enough.

I'm crossing my fingers for this. Yeah.

I don't know about you guys, but I have
never made a bathroom-themed cake before.

-You haven't?
-I've done a toilet paper cake.

Yeah. I feel like everybody
has to do a toilet paper cake.

Hey, Mr. Pete!

-Hey, Pete.
-[Pete] What's up?

Pete! What are you making?

-I just have a small, little cake.
-[Kayla] I know.

[Pete] For my toothbrush caddy, I'm making
a chocolate chip peanut butter cake

with a peanut butter Italian buttercream
and a dark chocolate ganache.

-Yum.
-Wow.

-There's a lot of elements to mine.
-[Miko] Mm-hmm.

This cake has countless textures,

colors, and small little items.

I just hope I can get all this done
in the allotted timeframe,

because there is a lot to accomplish.

How's it going, Kayla?

I am a little nervous, 'cause I feel like
my item's a little bit difficult.

A hairbrush is really symmetrical,

and it's thin.

The most difficult part is the bristles.

There are 100 bristles
in this little brush.

But $20,000 is on the line here.

So I wanted something
that would have some detail to show.

I want my cake to impress the judges.

Kayla, what flavor of cake are you making?

I'm gonna do something from Louisiana.
I'mma do a king cake.

A king cake is like a big cinnamon roll,
stuffed with all this goodness.

Around Mardi Gras, you find them
in a lot of bakeries in Louisiana.

So for my brush and curlers,
I'm making a cinnamon king cake

with a brown sugar
Swiss meringue buttercream,

and a pecan praline filling.

-My granny used to make it all the time.
-Oh!

It reminds me of my childhood,
so I'm excited.

Who I am as a person

is heavily rooted in where I'm from.

Lafayette, Louisiana, it's a Cajun town.
Everyone's so nice.

There's always a good time.
You're always welcome for dinner.

That drives me as a person

and has molded me
to be the girl I am today.

I'm always looking
to share parts of my culture.

I think that's a cool thing
that might impress the judges,

bringing my hometown flavors
into this bake.

I feel like it's all or nothing.

I just want to either, like,
go out with a bang,

or win the money, you know?

That's why I'm really praying
for the three of us, you know?

That hopefully we get to fool the judges.

But somebody has to go home,
because somebody has to win the money.

So let's be real. You know?

[laughter]

[contestants] Whoa!

Ooh.

-[Kayla] Oh yeah.
-Bakers, come out to play!

Yes.

I'm here
with your bathroom decoys, bakers.

So come on up.

[Kayla] Ooh.

[Mikey] Take a look.

-[Pete] All right.
-[Mikey] Grab 'em.

[Pete] There's one round one,
which is kind of nice.

I kind of like this one.

[Miko] These are so pretty.

I love having a lot of decoys,
because you're playing with their eyes,

but I'm also worried,

because the salt lamp crystal,
it's super textured,

and the incense holder
is smooth and transparent.

Opacity, transparency, translucency,

those are things that you really
have to consider in fooling the judges.

[whimpers] Starting to build my cake.

[upbeat music plays]

[Pete] This is not much cake.

So good!

[Kayla] Slowly, but surely.
That's apparently how I work.

[Pete] Time's a-flyin'.

-I'm excited to see yours, Miko.
-Me too!

[laughter]

In order to replicate
the translucency of the salt crystal,

I'm using isomalt.

Isomalt is just sugar.

You just have to melt it
to look like glass.

It looks so good.

I just want to redeem myself.

My cake is going to sit
inside of the isomalt crystal,

but isomalt is tricky to work with

because a lot of things
could actually go wrong.

It can break or have cracks.

So it is a process.

I'm crossing my fingers!

The finale.

-Yes.
-How are we feeling?

Who are you afraid of, to go up against?

Everyone! Do you see what is going on
in front of us right now?

-[Mikey] You guys are all so good.
-[Spirit] Thank you.

So stop trying to turn us
against each other!

Sorry, I'm trying to create drama.

[laughter]

[Kayla] Weird-ass.

I am using candy melt,

which can harden up really hard

and make this really shiny, plastic look

that is exactly
like the rest of the decoys.

All right. Time to pick it up.

I let it dry up,
and then I have this perfect little bowl,

and I put the cake in it,
kind of shape it just a little bit

to get it to be the perfect shape
for the bottom piece that I have made.

Two hours and 43 minutes left, bakers.

Very specific time call for you.

How's it going, Pete?

It's the cutest little cake ever.
Look at this thing.

Oh my gosh. It's a miniature!

It's a baby.

This cake is very, very small.

-Teeny!
-Oh my gosh.

Making a small cake versus a large cake
has its challenges.

There is just
such a limited amount of cake.

So if there's any issues,
that will stick out to the judges.

I'm gonna have to make these little
nubbins of toothbrushes to go on the top.

It's gonna be interesting.

I'm making molds out of silicone putty
of each of the toothbrushes,

and I'm hoping that it picks up
the detail on the bristles

so that I can pour candy melts in there
to make them as realistic as possible.

I've got seven molds altogether.

-God!
-[laughs] Kind of insane.

Danya, can you come up
and do "two hours left"?

Here we go, Danya.
I'm gonna direct. Ready. Action.

Bakers, we got two hours left.

-She's like, "Two..."
-[laughter]

I'm ready for you to breakdance now.
Like, spin on the floor.

[laughter]

-[Mikey] Thank you.
-[Danya] Thank you!

-[Miko] Kayla.
-Yes?

-Oh my God, it's perfect!
-[Pete] Whoo!

I just have to, like,
do these white things.

I'll just paint it.

My specialties
are my strengths in painting.

I studied at the University
of the Philippines Diliman,

where I graduated
with a bachelor's degree in fine arts,

and I majored in classical painting.

It's nice when you get
to mix two passions.

[Spirit] Yes.

To achieve a realistic look
for my salt lamp crystals,

I need to paint the edges of it,
like, with white edible paint,

and then dab a little cornstarch onto them
to give them, like, a matte, powdery look.

-It looks crazy good, Miko.
-Thank you.

One hour left!

One hour.

Giving you my Mikey.

That was good.

All right, let's put these bristles
in this crazy little thing.

I am very nervous,

because these bristles are soft,
and they're dainty, and they're delicate.

And that's really always
when things go wrong.

Doing bristles would not be very fun.

So I'm gonna do some modeling chocolate,

and just cutting them,
you know, all the same.

I put modeling chocolate in an extruder,
and I get these skinny, little spaghettis.

Skinny as hell.

And I just cut them each
about an inch tall.

These brush bristles are, like,
the most tedious thing of my entire life.

Oh, I'm sure.

I'm so focused on such a minuscule detail.

I almost dropped it.

But I think it's an important detail,
and it's gonna be worth it.

This brush is gonna be what wins for me.

If I dropped this brush, I would've cried.

-Thirty minutes left!
-[timer beeping]

Three-zero.

-Ooh, looking good, Miko!
-[Miko] Thanks, Pete.

I would actually like
to have, like, LED inside it.

[Kayla] That'd be cool.

I want to put light inside my cake

because it's a salt lamp crystal.

What is it supposed to do?

-Light up!
-[ding]

Miko, are you lighting all those up?

[Miko] Yes, I am.

[Mikey] That is dope.

[Miko laughing] Thank you.

I find it illuminating.

[laughter]

It actually, like,
really did the individual bristles.

That's so funny.

My toothbrushes look so realistic.

Wow, that's impressive.

Just doing a couple of little tests
for my marbling

to make sure that it looks good.

To achieve the marble look
on the toothbrush caddy,

I take white modeling chocolate,
black modeling chocolate,

and I marble them together very lightly

so that you have all of the right
little swirls going on in there.

[Kayla] That looks so dang good, Pete.

I've been doing cakes
for about 12 years now,

and my kids have seen my whole journey.

All the ups and downs when it comes
to opening and closing businesses.

If I win this whole competition,
it would show to them

that their dad's a fighter.

Yes!

Fifteen minutes left, bakers.

Really getting close. Here we go.

For the incense sticks,

I dip pasta in white chocolate.

I'm praying that I did enough
to fool the judges.

Yeah, one more thing.

I still need to finish
my white chocolate toothpaste tube.

Okay.

I get the edible printer and I print
the label on an edible sugar sheet,

and then I will wrap it
around the molded chocolate

to make it look
just like an actual tube of toothpaste.

Oh my goodness, we getting fancy up here.

[Kayla] Perfect.

Somebody better like this brush,
because this took so long.

-Five minutes, bakers! Five minutes left.
-[timer beeping]

What's the last thing I was doing? Oh.

Gotta finish my cake.
Finish your cake, you crazy girl. Okay.

My energy is definitely starting
to get a little frenzied.

The purple on my cake doesn't
exactly match the purple of the decoys,

so I decide to paint the decoys a purple
that's closer to the one on my cake.

-Ninety seconds, bakers.
-[timer beeping]

[gasps]

Hmm.

Oh my God!
I just put my knife on my brush.

You're kidding me.

There's 90 seconds left.

I want to scream. I want to scream.

Oh my God.

There's no going back.
I was really banking on this brush.

Kayla, you all right?

I just put my knife down on my brush

-and flattened all my bristles.
-[gasps]

-What?! One minute left. Can you fix it?
-No.

-You can fix it.
-Not in this time, I cannot.

This mistake
may have cost me the competition.

Well, you know brushes do bend.
The bristles bend.

-Yeah.
-You get a new one.

-[Elizabeth] It's a used one.
-[Spirit] It's used.

[groans]

It's gonna be
a perfect imperfection, Kayla.

-Thirty seconds, bakers. Thirty seconds.
-[fast-paced music]

The blowtorch is out.

Melt it up, Kayla.

In a moment of desperation,

I decide to take the blowtorch

and I just ruin the bristles
on all of the brushes,

and just hope that this gets me through.

Oh my God.

[Mikey] Five, four,

three, two,

one.

Time's up.

[imitates horn blaring]

-[woman] Good job, guys.
-[applause]

Good work, you guys.
Good work, good work.

I like what I'm seeing, bakers.

Next time I'll see you,
it'll be with the judges.

[dramatic music plays]

[music fades]

Bakers, you have been working for hours,
perfecting your cakes,

and now it's time
to put today's judges to the test.

Let's meet the people
who stand between you and up to $20,000.

[cheering and applause]

And today, it's a family affair.

You know them from TikTok.

It's Charli, Heidi, and Dixie!

We've got the D'Amelios!

[cheering and applause]

Yay!

Our youth demo just exploded on this show.

[laughter]

I'm super excited. Big fan of the show.

[in a childish voice]
Can you guys TikTok about it?

[laughter]

-And Pete is fangirling right now.
-Hello.

My 13-year-old daughter
would be very jealous.

Yeah, right.
"My 13-year-old daughter's a big fan."

[laughter]

Do you all bake?

She bakes. Charli bakes.

You bake?

I do bake sometimes.

[laughter]

They don't look good.

They taste good.
They don't look good.

-The kitchen doesn't look good after.
-[laughter]

And then, Heidi, you like wedding cakes?

That's my favorite.
I will literally go to anybody's wedding.

-I love wedding cakes.
-[laughter]

All right. Here's what's going to happen.

Over the course of three spins,

you're going to try to find three cakes.

At the end of it all,
you will decide today's winner

and which baker
is eliminated from the competition.

[tense music playing]

So today...

[chuckles]

...it's all about the bathroom.

That's the theme of today.

But it's done in good taste, I promise.

-Up first, we have Miko.
-Hello.

-[Mikey] Magnificent Miko!
-[applause]

[laughs] Mm.

We are going to give you 20 seconds
to try and find the cake

and lock in your answer
on the keypad in front of Heidi.

All right, you guys ready?
Cake wall, spin!

[tense music plays]

Okay, judges.

Here come four pairs
of Himalayan salt lamps

and scent diffusers.

Wow.

[Mikey] Remember, one of them is cake.

Let's see if you can find it.

Your time starts now.

-[tense music playing]
-[timer beeping]

[Heidi] I don't know.

This is impossible.

[Charli] If you look at One,
it almost looks a little see-through.

I feel like you can't do that with cake.
I think cake is Two.

[Heidi] Two or Three. I think it's Three.

They have two that look like each other
next to... I don't know!

-[Mikey] Ten seconds.
-I'm definitely feeling Four.

-[Charli] That's crazy.
-[Dixie] Four?

-[Heidi] Yeah.
-[Charli] I don't think so.

-[Mikey] Five seconds!
-It doesn't look like you can...

I think it's Two.

-Two or Three. Two!
-[Mikey] Four, three, two, one.

-[judges] Two.
-[Mikey] Time's up.

[Heidi] Two, okay.

So you picked Number Two.
Let's see how you did.

-[judges groan]
-[tense music]

For this one, I'm gonna need a hammer.

-[woman] Oh!
-[laughter]

Wise.

It just got weird.

So you picked Number Two.

-Mm-hmm.
-[Mikey] Why?

-I don't know.
-Because it didn't look translucent.

That one is more opaque.

Opaque!

Well, gang, let's see if you're right.

Miko, if this is cake,
you're up for elimination.

If it's not cake,
you're up for the win today.

-Okay.
-[Mikey] Good luck, my friend.

Thank you.

[suspenseful music playing]

-[gasps]
-[Mikey] Not cake!

-[cheering]
-[upbeat music]

-[Mikey] Miko, congrats.
-Yeah!

That means you are up for the win today,

and you have an excellent chance
of winning up to $20,000.

Well done!

I did hear you guys mention Four.

-[Charli] I hope it's not Four.
-I did.

-[Mikey] You did?
-They did not.

All right.

[tense music playing]

Let's see what's going on here.

I feel...

[woman gasps]

[cheering]

-Amazing!
-[applause]

Oh, look at that.
That just slices so beautifully.

[gasps]

Congrats, Miko. That's the first time
you fooled the judges.

It feels so good,
'cause I was already doubting myself.

-I was like, "I need to redeem myself."
-Uh, mission accomplished, my friend.

-[woman] You did.
-[Mikey] Well done.

[applause]

All right, let's move on to Kayla.

Kayla made you hot rollers and a brush.

Here we go. Cake wall, spin.

Judges, coming around
are four hot rollers and brushes,

and one of them is, yep, cake.

Oh, what?

What?! Which one...?

[Mikey] Remember, you have 20 seconds
to try and find it.

Your time starts now!

[tense music]

[Charli] Oh my... Oh no.

Okay.

I think One has to be...

-They're on stands. They all have bottoms.
-Where's the wire?

[Heidi] Number Two's brush
is sitting oddly.

I don't know.
Everything's confusing now. [giggles]

[Charli] The brush on Three
is throwing me off.

[Mikey] Ten seconds.

Do you see Four,
how it's got that little indent?

That could be an accident.

-Oh, wait, I think One...
-It's One!

-[Charli] I feel like Three.
-[Mikey] Five seconds, judges.

-Lock it in!
-Oh! No!

Time is up!

-I said Three!
-She said One!

-[Mikey] Ooh, drama!
-[laughter]

[Mikey] You picked Number One.
How are we feeling?

-[Charli] Not great.
-[Dixie] Not good.

I heard a lot of numbers.
Let's see how you did.

What made you think this is cake?

Because of the bristles on the brush.

[Mikey] They kind of look awry and askew?

-Yeah, it was the brush.
-[Mikey] Okay.

Kayla, if this is cake,
you're up for elimination.

If it's not, you're up for the win today,
along with Miko.

Let's find out. Is it cake?

[tense music playing]

Ooh, is that cutting?

-That is cake.
-[woman] Oh no!

-No.
-[sighing]

[Mikey] Well, it's a beautiful cake.

I'm sorry, Kayla. That means
you're up for elimination today,

-but...
-I'm sorry.

...your cake is straight-up amazing,
so well done.

-Thank you.
-[cheering and applause]

-All right. Don't get too cocky, judges.
-We are not.

You completely fooled me.

Our final baker is Pete...

-[cheering and applause]
-...who is freaking out right now.

-Pete's like, "Are we gonna get selfies?"
-[laughing]

-"I'm sorry, that was inappropriate."
-[laughter]

All right, judges, are you ready?

[all] Yes.

Cake wall, spin.

Coming around now are
four sets of toothbrushes and toothpaste,

and one of them is cake.

-Oh no.
-Where's the cake part?

[Mikey] You have 20 seconds
to try and find the cake,

and your time starts now!

-[Charli] Oh, what?
-[Heidi] What?

-Okay.
-I'm looking... Wait.

Look at how shiny
that tube of toothpaste is.

Two is the only one that's not shiny.

[Dixie] I feel like they're all shiny.
Why would that one not be shiny?

[Charli] The tube is shiny on Three.
I think it's Three.

[Mikey] Ten seconds.

[Charli] I like Four.

Two and Four, their toothbrushes
are placed in similar ways.

I feel like they could have modeled
one after the other.

-What do you think, Charli?
-Two!

-[Mikey] Four, three, two, one.
-Three!

-[bell dings]
-Time's up.

Charli was like,
"Are you gonna do it or what?"

[laughs]

-[Mikey] You picked Two.
-[ding]

-Heidi, are you confident?
-[Heidi] No.

-I was...
-[woman] I think it's Four.

...forced to pick Two.

-Oh, come on.
-By Charli. Right?

-Girls, did you force this choice?
-[laughter]

I said between Two and Four.

[tense music playing]

[Mikey] Well, you picked Two.

Pete, if this is cake, you're up
for elimination, along with Kayla.

If it's not, you're up for the win today,

and Kayla will be eliminated.

Let's find out if this is cake.

[tense music continues]

-No, it's not cake.
-[upbeat music playing]

-So congrats, Pete.
-[applause]

-Congrats.
-[Mikey] You tricked our judges

and you are up for the win today.

Pete, how are you feeling?

-[ding]
-[laughter]

-That's very Pete.
-[ding]

[laughter]

All right. The other one was Four.

-Oh, wow, look at that.
-[applause]

That is cake.

Whoo!

Kayla, since you were the only baker
to not fool the judges,

I'm sorry, you are eliminated
from the competition.

All of your cakes were amazing.
You are obviously gifted.

Good luck to everybody.

They're all so good.
I'm happy to have made it this far.

But I gotta go.

I hope that my students from Louisiana
are watching this.

And I hope I inspire them,
because even though I didn't win,

I still feel successful
in this whole journey,

and I am so happy
to have been a part of Is It Cake?

I'm going with Kayla.

All right. And you can't stop me. Spin!

-Spin!
-[laughter]

[upbeat music plays]

-Bye, Kayla.
-Bye.

-Kayla, you're the best.
-Thank you.

[music fades]

All right.

Judges, it's time to taste and examine
the cakes up for the win.

It all comes down to taste and details.

-Got it?
-[all] Yes.

Cake wall, spin.

[dramatic music plays]

All right, judges,
please taste and inspect the cakes.

[woman] Yay!

[Mikey] Miko, please tell the judges
about the flavors in your cake.

[Miko] I baked for you a lemon basil cake
with mango frosting,

and then you can eat
the base of the cake as well.

It's not wood. It's chocolate.

-Wait, what?
-[Miko] Yes.

-It looks like wood.
-Oh my...

-Good job!
-Thank you.

-[Heidi] I need to get in there.
-Look at the detail on this.

[Heidi] I know. So interesting.

I hate cake,
and this is really good. [laughs]

I also don't like mango,
but it's so good. [laughs]

-Maybe you do.
-Maybe I do!

-[Heidi] Maybe you do.
-Learning all these things about myself!

Yeah!

Let's move on to Pete's cake.

[Pete] I made a peanut butter
chocolate chip cake

with a dark chocolate ganache

and a peanut butter Italian buttercream.

The outside is covered
in modeling chocolate,

and then, the brushes are made
of colored candy melt.

-They taste like white chocolate.
-[Dixie] I like the chocolate chip.

I've never had a chocolate chip cake.

Yeah. It's like a cookie,
but so much better.

[Heidi] Did you print this?

[Pete] Yeah. So the toothpaste tube is,
um, white chocolate,

and then it has a printed edible paper
on the front of it.

[Heidi laughs]

[Pete] You can bite it
and eat the actual tube.

It tastes very delicious. It's not minty.

[laughter]

Okay, judges.
You've tasted both the cakes.

So please take a minute
and decide who will be today's winner.

[tense music plays]

I think the details on the salt lamp

-were just so realistic.
-[Heidi] So realistic, yeah.

Flavor-wise, it was unlike anything
I've ever tried before.

It tasted so good
and went perfectly together.

Like, every single bite was amazing.

Look at all the details on the whole brush
and the tube,

and the marbling on the cake is...

I know. The marbling is so realistic.

I think what surprised me about this cake
was that it was very sweet.

-You know?
-[Heidi] Mm-hmm.

For being a toothbrush holder,
it was really sweet for you.

-Judges, have you reached a decision?
-[judges] Yes.

Both cakes were so incredible.

You guys are very, very good
at what you do, obviously.

Coming up here
and looking at the cakes up close,

I think there was one cake

that stood out to us
a little bit more than the other.

The winner is...

[suspenseful music playing]

[all] Miko!

-[Mikey] Miko!
-Yeah! Oh my God!

[cheering and applause]

-Congrats!
-[Miko] Thank you!

[Mikey] You just won $5,000.

That means you move on
to our Cake Or Cash? round

for a chance at another $15,000.

Oh, thank you!

Pete, you are one episode closer
to the finale. Well done.

Thank you, Charli, Heidi, and Dixie.

Bakers, give it up for our judges!

-[cheering and applause]
-[upbeat music plays]

-[gasps]
-[Mikey] Whoa!

-Are you okay?
-Yeah. We're good.

Congratulations.

This will take you right to your cars.

-[applause]
-[music fades]

Miko, are you in the mood
for Cake Or Cash?

-Of course. I am in the mood.
-[Mikey] Of course!

[dramatic music playing]

-Miko, Miko, Miko!
-[applause]

-You just won $5,000.
-[woman] Yeah!

[Spirit laughs]

Now you're playing for the chance
to triple your money, Miko, to $15,000.

-Yes!
-[cheering]

All you have to do, buddy,
is find the cake.

Crossing my fingers
and I'm crossing my toes.

[Mikey] Yes, me too. Me too.

Now I've been told that your parents,

-who are watching this in the Philippines...
-Mm-hmm.

...they once said
there's no money in baking.

There's no money in arts.

-No money in art?
-That's what they said.

'Cause it's difficult
when you're in the art field.

Let's prove your parents wrong.

[Spirit and Danya] Yeah!

All right. Cake wall, spin.

Okay, Miko, on the other side
of the cake wall are two laundry hampers.

Oh my God.

[Mikey] One of them is filled with cash,
and one is a cake.

-If you guess the cake, you get the cash.
-Wow.

You have 15 seconds, buddy.

And your time starts now.

-[timer beeping]
-[Miko] Okay. Oh my God. Oh my God.

[tense music playing]

They both look fake, so this is difficult.

[Mikey] Ten seconds, Miko.

[Miko] Very crazy.

-[Mikey] Lock it in, Miko.
-[Miko] Okay. Okay.

[Mikey] Three, two, one.

-[bell dings]
-Time's up.

-Yes!
-[applause]

-Whoo!
-[woman] Oh my God.

[ding]

[Mikey] Miko, you picked Number Two.

Why do you think this one's cake?

I don't really know.

-[laughter]
-I'm so not confident with my answer.

They both look hand-painted to me.

Honestly, it's very confusing.

I agree.

-It is extraordinarily difficult, but...
-I don't know.

[Spirit] Oh my gosh.

-May the odds be in your favor.
-Oh!

-[dramatic music playing]
-Oh my gosh.

[grunts, clears throat]

-No!
-[contestants] Oh!

-Come on!
-It's not cake!

-[woman 1] Oh my God.
-[woman 2] Come on!

[woman 1] I feel so bad.

Oh my God!

-All right. Sorry about that. I'm upset!
-You should be.

Well, you still won $5,000,

so your parents are wrong,
your parents are wrong!

Let's cut the real cake open.

Make it pay for its crimes.

-[Danya] Whoa. Wow.
-[Mikey] Oh yeah.

-That feels like cake.
-[Elizabeth] That's crazy.

-That's nice, though.
-It does look pretty.

Bad cake!

[grunts]

-[Spirit] Mm-hmm.
-[munches]

-[Elizabeth] Yeah, you tell it, Mikey!
-[laughter]

[grunts]

-Ooh. [laughs]
-Wow.

Since Miko didn't win Cake Or Cash?,

that $15,000 goes into the finale pot,

which brings it up to $60,000.

-Oh my God!
-Oh man!

Bakers, please join Miko.

-[Elizabeth] Happy to.
-This was an emotional Cake Or Cash?

The finale is right around the corner,

but there are only three spots.

So you know what that means.

Next episode, two of you
will be eliminated.

And, um, you might want to stretch,
'cause next time,

we're playing some sports!

Oh no!

-Yeah!
-[Mikey] Let's go, bakers! Let's go!

-Whoo!
-[Mikey] Let's go, bakers!

-Let's go!
-No! Why?

I hate sports!

[upbeat music playing]
